Oh London, I love you
That's right, the man with a bin on his head got more votes than either of the fascist candidates. Voting matters.
Use your vote. Even if it's to use a man in a bin to tell racists where to go.

Today there has been local election voting in the UK.
Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson turned up at his local voting station and was turned away. He was unable to provide photo ID and so couldn’t vote!
‘Do you know who I am?’ seemingly didn’t work. What a complete clown.

It's local election day in England, so this is your friendly reminder make sure you have a valid photo ID before you go out to vote today! If you don't have one, you can apply for an Emergency Proxy Vote on the Electoral Commission's website up until 5pm today.
#uk politics#local elections 2023#UK local elections#proxy vote#emergency proxy vote#i know this reblog blog has like zero reach but I haven't seen a post about it yet and it's important!

Babes! Tomorrow local elections are happening across England. Please remember to go vote and remember to take a photo ID as they now require it for you to vote.
You can find out if local elections are happening in your area here:
If you aren't registered to vote please go do that here so you can vote in elections in the future:
Folks, these elections are important as they are steps to getting the Tories out of power next general election

cws: caps, swearing, mention of far-right uk political parties, kinda long post (generally positive!!)
(i dont know how to put a read more so just scroll fast i guess???
seeing a lot of people talking about the tories losing seats and thats all well and good, i am laughing just as hard as everyone else about it, its very embarrassing for them. but im not seeing the same discussion about how THE GREENS FUCKING WON A COUNTY???? the greens NEVER win counties????
by itself, the fact that the tories lost most of their seats doesnt mean a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. after the fucking time we've had lately, with a bunch of prime ministers who weren't elected in and the rapi decline of the economy, of course people are mad. its fairly common for tory voters to vote lib dem in the council elections as a form of protest, but vote conservative anyway when the general election comes round (which is next year). yeah its funny to see them lose over 1000 councillors but that alone doesnt necessarily threaten their place as the party who's actually in charge.
but tory voters DON'T VOTE GREEN.
the Green party is the furthest left uk party with actual government sway. and they got DOUBLE the councillors this election! granted, there would've been some tory voters who voted green simply because the greens usually have so few votes that it would be ineffective, i personally didn't vote green for that same reason (i live in a very conservative county, there was no point) but for so many people to vote for green councillors that they DOUBLES THEIR SEATS OH MY GOD???? thats a HUGE win, and i really think that that, more than the conservative loss, more than the reform loss, more than the ukip loss, is an indication that the actual public? the actual people?? are shifting left. and after the past 8 years, its no goddamn wonder.
might come back and rephase some stuff cause im not the best at communicating my point properly but i think i did pretty well. i really wish more people were talking about the greens, obviously they're not perfect but they're better than labour, just waaaay less powerful, and imo there's a genuinely good chance that that might change sometime in the next decade. dunk on the conservatives all you want but remember that there's an even bigger win here!

polling day on thursday so this is your notice that if you actively choose not to vote, then you have no fucking right to complain about the way things turn out.
"but i don't want to go to the polling station!" you had plenty of time to apply for a postal or proxy vote.
"they're both the same!" 1. no they're fucking not. 2. this isn't the us. voting for the greens or the lib dems or snp or independent or count fucking binhead does mean something.
"but the prime minister will be rishi sunak or kier starmer!" yes, probably, but politics is not just national. you will be represented by somebody, i suggest you look at your local candidates.
democracy literally only works if people participate. go and fucking vote.
#my vote will be heavily influenced by who my local candidates are#because only two candidates have bothered to do any real campaigning and i'm not voting for the thatcherite#uk politics#ge2024#general election 2024
