When I was younger, I was given a birthday card. Can't remember by who, but it was one of those 'old timey photo with glib caption on' type cards, and it had a picture of a couple of very well-dressed ladies. maybe early 20th century or very late 19th; Victorian vibes. They were holding hunting weapons, rifles and stuff, and the caption struck me as very strange.
It said something to the effect of the women appraising the weapons for 'a spot of chav hunting'. For those of you who don't know, a 'chav' is an English term for someone very low class, young and generally dressed in sportswear.
Now... this of course was just a card. Unpleasant, sure, but nothing real, right?
...yeah.
the UK has a serious problem with disdain for its poor, especially those it deems unpleasant, too loud, or 'rough'. And this is outwith how that intersects with other seemingly-unfavourable protected categories like race, religion, age, ethnicity, immigration status, sexuality, gender and more.
When someone walks about adding British layers of bigotry to how they present their fantasies, their fictions and their observations on real life, they bring all of this with them. And it sucks.
#uk life#uk sociopolitics#anti-working class sentiment#anti-chav sentiment#this is related to the bg3 post#hoped it could add a level of understanding to why I'm so loathe to see working class accents and dialect appended to literal monsters#that you're justified in killing by the droves

It seems that a lot of people have transitioned to a more solitary lifestyle after the pandemic. I liked this thoughtful and balanced article's take on the situation. My interpretation is that it is not the hours spent surrounded my other people that count, but the quality of the connections that matter.
Here's a personal example:
One might assume that a single and childfree person living in a rural village would be really lonely, but that's not the case. In many ways, I feel more content and connected living in the village and perhaps seeing another person less than once per day than I did working in the lab at Imperial College, where I was surrounded by many people but the interactions were stressful and impersonal for the most part. The difference is, that when I meet a neighbour in the village we stop for a warm and friendly 10 minute chat.
I feel like this supposed "lack of a social life" is just another way to shame and guilt people about doing what is actually the best and most natural for them. Like many things in life, it is quality over quantity.

I took the train going to London and the guy that checks train passes stopped by in front of me and asked and wanted to make sure if I’m not under 25, I hadn’t initially understand the question as I was too surprised and had to make sure I heard him correctly. I respond back, “for Christ’s sake, I’m 31!” And we just both laughed. For some reason It made my day even when it’s just about.
Jumper and coat season it is! Hello Autumn! Thank you for reminding me the beauty in letting go. 🍂 Oh life is good! 😊

Your protest is saying what these cowardly monsters did is acceptable in your minds.
Also, educate yourself and google Sharia law because that’s also what you’re supporting. Some of the path reports on the recovered bodies of young girls revealed that they had been assaulted so repeatedly and so violently that their pelvic bones had broken.

A Complete Guide to Your Journey to Living and Working in the UK (2024 Update)
Living and working in the UK offers a wealth of opportunities. From its vibrant culture and historical landmarks to its thriving economy, the UK beckons individuals seeking a fulfilling life abroad. But navigating the UK immigration process can seem complex. Here at The SmartMove2UK, we're here to guide you every step of the way.
This comprehensive guide provides a roadmap to living and working in the UK in 2024. We'll explore visa options, application processes, and key considerations to ensure a smooth and successful journey.
1. Eligibility Check: Your First Step
Prior to starting your journey through the UK, it's crucial to determine your eligibility. Here's an overview of common visa options: (check the UK government website for the latest details and requirements):
Skilled Worker Visa: Ideal for skilled workers with a job offer from a UK employer with a sponsor license.
Global Talent Visa: Targets highly skilled and talented individuals in specific fields (science, engineering, etc.) who can make significant contributions to the UK economy.
(Note: This visa has stricter eligibility criteria)
Innovator Visa (Now Innovator Founder Visa): For individuals with a genuine and innovative business idea with the potential for high growth.
Student Visa: For individuals pursuing full-time studies at a recognized UK educational institution. (This could potentially lead to a work visa after graduation depending on the program and your qualifications)
Family Visa: Designed for spouses, children, and other close family members of British citizens or those with settled status in the UK.
2. Choosing the Right Visa Path
The most suitable visa option depends on your individual circumstances. Here are some key factors to consider:
Skills and Qualifications: Do your skills and qualifications match the requirements of a specific visa category?
Job Offer: Do you have a confirmed job offer from a UK employer with a sponsor license (applicable to Skilled Worker Visa)?
Investment Capital: Do you have the required investment amount for an Investor or Innovator Visa?
Business Idea: For business-related visas, do you have a strong and viable business plan with growth potential?
Family Ties: Are you joining family members already settled in the UK?
The SmartMove2UK’s experienced immigration lawyers can assess your circumstances and recommend the most suitable visa path for your goals. We'll work closely with you to gather evidence and ensure a strong application package.
3. Research and Application Process
Once you've identified a suitable visa option, thoroughly research the specific requirements and application procedures. The UK government website (https://www.gov.uk/) serves as a valuable resource and starting point.
Our team stays up-to-date on the latest regulations and can provide tailored guidance specific to your situation.
4. Gather Necessary Documents
Collect all the documentation outlined for your chosen visa category. This may include proof of identity, qualifications, work experience, financial resources, and relationship status (if applicable).
We'll provide a comprehensive checklist to ensure you have all the required documents and meet all eligibility criteria.
5. Application Submission and Fees
Submit your complete application package, along with the associated visa fees, to the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) department. Processing times can vary depending on the visa type and workload. Ensure that everything is completed accurately and filed appropriately.
6. Additional Considerations
English Language Skills: Having a good understanding of English may be a requirement or a significant advantage depending on your chosen visa category.
Healthcare: Consider how you will access healthcare in the UK. You may need to arrange private health insurance or register for the National Health Service (NHS).
Taxes: Research UK tax regulations to understand your obligations as a resident or worker.
7. Professional Help
The UK immigration process can be complex. Consulting with an experienced UK immigration lawyer can be highly beneficial. They can help you choose the most suitable visa option, ensure your visa application is complete and compliant, and increase your chances of success.
Remember: Immigration laws and requirements can undergo changes. It's crucial to stay updated with the latest information on the UK government website before starting your application process.
