Update About this Blog

So, you guys may have guessed by the amount of non-writing posts I’ve been reblogging lately, but I don’t really have much of an interest in keeping this blog a writeblr anymore. Back when I first got tumblr I didn’t get the memo that most people have a general main blog and a specialized side blog or two, so I created three different blogs of specialized purposes. That is problem, when... say, you want to reblog content of other fandoms and the only fandom blog you have is for a specific one... yeah, I just want a main, guys. And this one is my main, and the one I post the least to, so...

Does that mean I’ll never post about writing? Of course not! I will, when good posts come across my dash, probably. I just hate searching the writing tag because it’s full of quotes and I don’t want to reblog quotes, I want to reblog posts about writing. So yeah. If you want to unfollow because of this, I totally understand, all power to you.

And like the wiki says Kaeya's passive was changed from "Heart of the Abyss" because it unintentionally conflated with the Abyss in game and not the metaphor of "walking on thin ice over an abyss."

For an unintentional connection it sure does come up a lot

But even if we do disregard that and go based on the intended meaning (via the wiki)

Idk it's just neat that one line can solidify and make sense of previous tales within the game that we didn't technically have the context for previously and I'm excited to see what the rare disease mentioned at the end is going to be

1 (the character that everyone gets wrong): ok this one is tricky for me bc to some degree im cool with ooc-ish stuff on the case of like aus/personal interpretation/whatever AND i am actually someone who doesnt actually read a lot of fanfic and doesnt have tooooo many really strong feelings abt characters outside of phantom hourglass so this one i had to think abt for a bit for a character that i have strong enough feelings on and actually like. care and know how ppl popularly interpret them. i am a bit of a hater but its very specific haterism a lot of the time. so i don’t really have much of an answer for this? thinking abt anya mouthwashing again and how ppl seem to ignore the pseudo-paranormal aspect of jimmy's hallucinations (for lack of a better word rn) regarding her.

like to justify myself here, i definitely think calling the horse monster a blind and aimless thing was a way of rejecting her rightful rage and hatred of him but i also think itd be foolish to pretend that she cant be seen as a rightfully angry person whose anger was able to be minimized until there was a physical result of it that he now had to take responsibility for (not an intended joke)

i also think its worth noting that polle is the means through which jimmy dehumanizes her and i think its interesting that to complete that section of the game one has to take mouthwash that anya directly described as not useful for disinfecting anything from polle because its his only hope to clean daisuke's wound because jimmy wasted the actual disinfectant, as if taunting him with the fact that he fucked up. that he isnt a better man than he pretends to be, and thats just really compelling to me, especially when this all culminates into polle basically looking him in the eye and making him confront that he really isnt better than his worst moments. he clings to curly and pretends that his friend's views of him are objectively correct because he wants to pretend he isnt someone who fucked up time and time again because he cant see past his own nose.

and i think a lot of people refuse to give anya credit for her anger because its very much there even if jimmy wants to act like its something he doesnt deserve

anyways i think itd be really cool if someone made art of anya gripping a gun and standing over jimmy's dead body because i headcanon the reason she revealed where the gun was was because she planned to kill him first before going with her contingency plan (killing herself)

I know a bit more about morrison's, but (if you don't mind), would you care to elaborate on each style?

speaking very very broadly here, and therefore making generalizations that won't apply to every single thing each writer has ever written, but rather their general reputation or what i personally have found reading their work

waid is famously well-read and generally tries to reconcile as much canon as he can while still 1) telling the story he wants to tell and 2) fitting with modern style/genre/etc conventions. if he does make a departure you generally assume he knew he was doing it and did it on purpose while still mostly adhering to that former goal. im thinking of the donna/garth situationship in worlds finest teen titans here, which to me read like he was like "wait, why *wouldnt* they have ever had a thing, they have so much in common" and an exploration of that, and it does actually mesh with stuff that came before imo. but i picked waid as an example of someone who is extremely well read and puts a lot of effort into yes and-ing what came before. but at the same time he Builds a lot off of it, he's not just parroting.

devins approach to my reading is more like... she's character driven in a way where like. 1) she probably has a solid understanding of the history of her mains and has probably read at least the recent stuff but definitely hasnt sat down and read their Whole History, and 2) if her character concept differs from what came before she's comfortable stepping away from it. so by contrast to waid as an example, you generally won't see her playing with minor elements from teen titans 1966 or new teen titans, or if you do it's a surprise and she might have just taken a concept and turned it on its head, if that makes sense. shes more likely to bring in her own stuff. but at the same time you usually don't expect anything of hers to be a sharp departure from anything recent or any of her contemporaries. devin is someone who can read catwoman comics and then be like "i actually think catwoman should be more like xyz, because when i boil her down to what i see as her essential/core elements, this is what feels honest and compelling to me," and then that's how she'll write her.

morrison is pretty infamous for their "everything is canon" approach by which i mean. they may not have read anything recent scrimblo scringus was in, but they *did* read the elseworlds comic from 1989 where they originated that bears little to no resemblance to their current iteration, and they think it would be fun to randomly bring in some shit from that story into scrimblo's mainline continuity. so you get things like new earth jason being a redhead but also entirely unlike either pre-crisis jason or post-crisis jason in any discernable way, or they'll import batcow from tiny titans to the main continuity. because actually why Shouldn't we have batcow too. so morrisons something of a wildcard in terms of both what they might have read and in what they'll use and what they'll ignore, its a total free for all. every comic ever written is their playground, pretty much.

hopefully that makes sense lol. and i am oversimplifying a lot but that was my logic in name-dropping those three
