I love when fics have diluc and kaeya banter rather than outright argue. Like yeah I get it, it's better for angst, but there's something so fun about the strategic use of "annoy your brother"

Enkanomiya Quest Spoilers!!

Another Immersion Comic where I imagine my party being actually a part of the experience and imagining how their interactions go!

I've been enjoying this quest a good lot especially with how well it fits the standing of my party since Enjou talks of betrayal and being an abyssal being to a party that consists of a fairy like being of unknown origins, a god, a priestess of a fallen god, and a person from a nation that dislikes the gods. The betrayal line was one of my favorites esp for Kae and Lumine/Traveller because for them, it's not really a matter of "shall" in past tense because they've already experienced pain from their own corner. idk, the quest is good fun!

A small bonus but I like to think that Zhongli would give Kokomi advice and reassurance on how to handle having to rule and lead people at such a young age. I think their dynamic would be rather sweet in an almost student and mentor way.

I realised recently that my first favorite game character, Zidane from FFIX, shares a lot of similarities with my current favorite Kaeya.

Too Many Notes (原神)

did a re-read of Legend of the Shattered Halberd and Flowers for Princess Fischl. then i went about cross-referencing genshin's norse mythology references again.

here are some of my notes, almost all of which end up pertaining to Khaenri'ah or Celestia (usually both):

Princess Fischl's Mother, the [Celestial Empreror], is the Kaesirin of the Immernactreich: kaeSIRIN.

(HI3's Sirin was a girl who attained the cores/[visions] of five Herrschers/[Harbingers of the Apocalypse] and very nearly succeeded in bringing it about: Asmoday is the Genshin equivalent of Sirin's second coming)

the role of the Kaesirin's daughter, Princess Fischl, is that of a final boss of the universe: she is the destined destruction of all living things, that that may be born anew in the new world she will inherit... just as her mother the Kaesirin did before her.

(note that Asmoday is not the only character with Fischl-coding. there's also: Traveler, Dainsleif, Kaeya, Beidou, King Irmin, AND Pierro)

the weakness of the Beast of the World Gesamtkunstwerk (ger: "universal artwork") is a "Saint of Seven Tears": Perseids reference? could just be another Traveler Allegory tbh.

(the Saint, Fischl, and Ozvaldo are also considered "Beasts of the World")

Njord is the Norse god of the sea, wind, & wealth: in Perinheri, a "Njord who walks with the Nightsprites" (either an alchemist or a beast knight) is namechecked as one of the four most powerful warriors in [Crimson Moon Dynasty-era] Khaenri'ah.

(the remaining three: "Alf" of the Universitas Magistrorum; Knight Commander "Alberich"; and the titular Perinheri)

Alberich is a mythological dwarf who is referenced not only as namesake of Kaeya's Clan but as one of the many Nibelungenlied opera characters Rhinedottir is a conflation of (she's a whole character reference to said opera).

Surtalogi is named for the flaming sword wielded by the fire jotun Surtr: LOTSH has a "Khan the Asura¹" from Jotunheim who wields "Katakugosha"[? original hanzi/kanji req], a sword forged of the "Dahrani"[Rune] of the Fire Realm... AKA Muspellheim AKA the realm guarded by the fire jotun Surtr.

(Surtr, greatest of the fire jotun, leads his kin against the other realms during Ragnarök)

"Hroptatyr" and "Irmin" are pseudonyms of Odin: King Irmin of Khaenri'ah named the Traveler's Sibling his Heir and used them as a "vessel" for the powers of the Abyss (triggering the Cataclysm); "Hroptatyr the Wise" is one of the Sinners who forsook Khaenri'ah after achieving godlike powers through the very Abyss that doomed their nation. Same guy?

(note that previous hoyoverse takes on Odin include a giant mecha named "Wotan" and a cute school girl named "Arkria Hroptr")

"Rächer of Solnari" can be translated as "Avenger of the Defiled Sun" OR "Avenger of the Sun's Defiler": the latter could make the Sinner Rerir analagous to Sköll, the wolf who eats the sun during Ragnarök, or perhaps to his brother Hati, who eats the moon.

(the former reading could instead make him analagous to the [child] and successor of Sól, the Nordic & Germanic personification of the sun, born just ahead of her death by Giant Wolf: this could tie the Sinner Rerir into Teyvat's myths about a sun-charioteering contemporary of the Moon Sisters)

LOTSH features the weapon "Laevatain", a weapon mythologically crafted by Loki in order to kill the rooster Vidopnir (who sits atop the World Tree Mimameidr) during Ragnarök. In other tellings, this rooster is instead the hawk Vedrfolnir, who sits atop the all-knowing eagle who roosts atop the World Tree Yggdrasil/Irminsul.

(still waiting for Genshin's equivalents of Misteln/Mistletoe and Baldr...)

Dainsleif is named for the sword forged by the dwarf Dáinn: it was wielded by a King Högni who shares his name with adifferent Högni, better known as "Hagen", who is the half-brother of the hero Siegfried... and the illegitimate son of the dwarf Alberich.

The Royal Guards of the Eclipse Dynasty were styled as the Black Serpent Knights: said Black Serpent is likely Nidhogg, the dragon that dwells at Irminsul's roots and whose flight heralds Ragnarök, but could also be Fafnir, the dwarf-turned-dragon slain by the hero Siegfreid (whom i'd tentatively cast as "Pierro").

Nibelung, the High King of the Ancient Dragons, was born alongside the world [Teyvat] as its King. All was well 'til Nibelung was usurped by the First Descender, prompting the Dragon King of Dragon Kings to seek the powers of the Abyss so as to save his people... yet, when next seen, abyssal corrosion had turned the "kind, gentle king" [per the Finale of the Deep Galleries artifact set] into a great black dragon of calamity (very Nidhogg of him).

(every patch just further reaffirms my theory that Khaenri'ah was founded by Nibelung Sympathizers tbh)

¹Khan the Asura, from LOTSH, very very notably claimed to be "a warrior of Hunt From Above". Other than his probably Surtrlogu connection, Khan has this to say: "the Celestial Emperor once went to war with the Asura. To prepare for the war, the Celestial Emperor selected soldiers from three realms and made them ascend to become his celestial army after death." (tell me again what becomes of allogenes?)

LOTSH's "Celestial Emperor" = FFPF's "Kaisirin" = "The First Descender, Usurper of Nibelung, and Maker of the Heavenly Principles"

this three days-long research binge is brought to you by that part in Ineffa's Stories where the Ch'ule-l [translated as "Sovereign Lords"] consistently name Nod-Krai as "Niflheim".

this successfully distracted me from Ineffa's "About Nefer" voiceline (which identifies her as Head of the Curatorium of Secrets!!) and the voiceline introducing a still-faceless advisor of the Adventurer's Guild who keeps running away from Ineffa the Very Humanoid Service Robot (which feels very Katheryne-related!!).

so i'm totally fine and normal about this version update. yup.
