my username is a line from the song every little thing she does is magic by the police!! eltsdim was tasw's original title, where roxy and her dad were more classic rock fans, but i ended up scrapping that idea for the one where they're more punk/rock fans bc that's a genre i know better! i kept the title though, until the day i went to post the story, when she's got a boyfriend by boys like girls came on and that's all she wrote just ended up sounding better to me. i'd already made all the accounts under myloveforhergoeson and was too lazy to change it. i'm not super fond of it but eh. it's who i am now! i'd never really been a username changer even on my old bandom blogs either so, it stuck

if we can imagine a time before tasw.... (aka 2021 or 22 i think now? and i didn't post what i'd been working on until 2023...) the first btr fic i'd thought of was a fantasy reader insert where all the guys were like princes or whatever and writing a reader insert was so fucking hard for me for some reason. i think i only got like 10 pages in before i was like fuck this fr.... have not tried since! discovered that i could make an oc not too long later (i'd known of the concept obv but had never practiced outside of dungeons and dragons) and it wasn't actually cringe like i was worried it would be.... mostly lmao. so ocs 1000000000% for sure!

You didn’t intend to fall as hard as you did. In fact, you didn’t want to fall at all. You took one good look at the boy and told yourself “no.” So why did you fall? Was it the way he smiled at you when he took your order? Was it the way his fingers grazed yours when he handed you your cup of coffee? Was it the way he made you laugh and felt like you’d known him for years? You had no idea. Regardless, you were falling, head-first with no real idea of when you’d stop. Part of you thought you’d never stop. Most of you thought that.

As a college student, you had to be able to balance work and school not to mention school fees and such. You were on your own now. Eating foods that weren’t inching mere hours away from their expiration dates and almost always having little to no fresh foods was something that you’d just gradually gotten used to. Something you just had to get used to. You can still remember the excitement you felt when you finally found a cheap coffee shop near your dorm. And then the sinking feeling when you made eye-contact with the cute boy that was your age who happened to work there.

Shit, you thought. Shit, shit, shit. Don’t make eye-contact. Avoid him. 

All of those thoughts were well went about until he approached you.

“Hi,” he said with a grin. A charming one. “I’m James. What can I get you?”

“Just a coffee,” you told him weakly. “Black.”

The boy named James laughed. “Black? I never trust people who take their coffee black.”

Almost instantly you felt lighter. Like you’d been talking to an old friend. “How do you take your coffee? Ten packets of sugar?”

“Are you implying that I’m sweet?” asked James with a smirk.

“Take it was you wish, dear,” you told him jokingly. 

Two years later, you came barreling in. You plopped your purse down on an empty stool by the counter. You slid behind the counter and began preparing yourself a coffee.

“Ma’am, can you refill my coffee?” asked a middle-aged man, looking at you with boredom in his eyes. 

“I don’t work here, the employee’s just don’t like me,” you told him before smiling. 

“She’s telling lies,” said a voice from behind you that you recognized. James. Your boyfriend. “We love her. She stands behind the counter and claims that she’s being treated unfairly.”

“Because I am!” you exclaimed, grinning at him. “I’m just here for good coffee and your–“

“Spare me,” said the man dryly. “Just pour the damn coffee, will you?”

“Of course, my friend!” you told him, pouring him the coffee before mouthing “help me.” Both you and James burst into annoying laughter. The man drank the coffee quickly like it was a shot, slammed a ten dollar bill on the table, and stormed off.

“I don’t think he liked us very much,” James offered before kissing the top of your head.

“’S alright,” you replied. “I like you enough for both me and him.”

“Right back at you, barista.”

“You like yourself for both him and you?” you asked with a smile.

“Yeah, I’m pretty great, aren’t I? I mean, I would have to be great if I’ve got you head over heels,” James said with a shrug.

“What’s that supposed to mean?” you demanded in mock offense.

“I love you,” James murmured into your hair.

“Right back at you, barista,” you replied, laughing.

✨ it's finally your graduation, years upon years of stress and break downs and just pure academic trauma have finally come to an end and Minghao just couldn't be prouder of you, so what does he do? He asks for your graduation cap to decorate it and spends the entire night making an intricate design that's uniquely yours, a phoenix rising from ashes with your favorite colours to symbolize that no matter how much life brings you down you'll still rise, and you cap does rise and fly when it's time for the crowd of graduates to throw their caps in the air, yours glimmering in their midst, it's glittery pattern reflecting in Minghao's eyes as he stands clapping for you.

✨ we are familiar with the concept of Wonwoo rescuing cats, but what if it was the other way around? Your cat, a beautiful, large grey British shorthair, had a thing for sensing emotions, you'd always find it licking your hands when you're sad, curling up beside you when the days weren't bright, it's been your pillar of support for years, but never did you realize it could be the same for this one man. He was sitting on a bench in the park where you were strolling with your cat, bending forward with one rubbing his eye and the other holding a pain of glasses. One first sight it's nothing, just a man on a bench, and so you kept on walking but the feline noticed something was off and so it broke it's stride from beside you and hurried to Wonwoo. Alarmed, you follow it and as you come closer you notice that Wonwoo was actually wiping away tears, now cooing at your cat as it rubbed itself against his legs. He pulled it up to his chest, still not registering your presence, and hugged it close. That's when he noticed the collar, and you, who decided to give him the space he needed and the chance to calm down. Wonwoo was all up and down in apologies as he let the cat go, but it won't stay away, meowing and purring and you thought maybe it was worth to grab a coffee with this strange guy, just to calm your pet down. Or maybe it's a beginning to something else.
