TRM Round 1: T. Rex the band vs. Prehistoric Park (Matilda)
Tumblr media
T. Rex the band – Though not really a T. rex (and incorrectly capitalized), this English band from the 1970s still warrants inclusion for their pioneering of glam rock and hit songs like “Ride a White Swan” and “Get it On.” Other than the fact that they began as Tyrannosaurus Rex and later shortened the name to T. Rex, I can find nothing on why the name was chosen. Maybe Marc Bolan just liked dinosaurs.
Tumblr media
Prehistoric Park (Matilda) – In true Tyrannosaurus form, Matilda makes herself a menace in the otherwise peaceful, if chaotic, sanctuary for prehistoric life. Not content to only attack her brother, Terrence, Matilda breaks out yet again in the final episode, threatening Head Keeper Bob and many of the other animals. Her rampage is thwarted by Martha the mammoth, who defends a baby elephant, and Nigel, who manages to lead her back to containment.

A very young Stephen Ross Porter (1949-1980) in 1950. What a cutie. Just... just look at that impressive head of hair, enough for five babies!
Tumblr media
Tyrannosaurus Rex. Teenage percussionist/multi-instrumentalist Steve Peregrin Took (and his bushels of hair and fab nose) with Marc Bolan (1947-1977) , ~ 1968. He was replaced by Mickey Finn in 1969.
Tumblr media
Steve in 1974. I'm envious of his nice hands.
Tumblr media
With Marc in 1977 (colorized) Steve's life was one hell of a tragedy brought on by poor life choices. He died in 1980 after choking on a maraschino cherry while under the influence of shrooms and morphine.

Dinosaur AU
Gaz and Soap are both hadrosaurs, Gaz is a parasaurolophus and Soap is a lambeosaurus. Price is a styracosaurus. They banded together to help protect other herbivores from a growing threat called the Shadow Clan, a mixed pack of dromaeosaurs lead by a utahraptor called Graves. The dromaeosaurs who follow him mostly consist of velociraptors called Shadows.
Price, Gaz, and Soap were cornered by Shadows, Soap severely injured and if Price and Gaz made the wrong move they would have an opening. Soap was telling them to leave him when, suddenly, a massive tyrannosaurus rex attacked the Shadows. They thought they were done for considering the might've had a chance with the Shadows but this guy? Price was ready to try to give Gaz and Soap a chance to escape when the rex just started to leave?
They were confused and the rex stopped and glared at them, "Get the fuck out of here."
Then he was gone.
Their saving grace was the king of killers. He killed the Shadows and chased off the rest before just leaving. Soap had suffered heavy blood loss but managed to jokingly call the guy a ghost before Price and Gaz managed to get to him to a safer location.

Michael Norman Mickey Finn (3 June 1947 – 11 January 2003)[1] was an English musician. He was best known as the percussionist and sideman to Marc Bolan in his band Tyrannosaurus Rex (on one album, A Beard of Stars) and later the 1970s glam rock group T. Rex. After Bolan's death and T. Rex's demise, he worked as a session musician for The Blow Monkeys and The Soup Dragons.

SINCE ILL BE TALKING ABOUT THEM FOR A BIT!! HERE IS THE HEVISAURUS MASTERPOST FOR ALL MY MUTUALS THAT HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE FUCK IM TALKING ABOUT:
Hevisaurus: the OG finnish band, the one that started it all :) (2009-present, for the most part)
Heavysaurus: the german version (2018-present)
Heavysaurios: the spanish (argentinian) version (2010?-present-ish*)
*so heavysaurios recently went through some deep crazy shit where the contract with the original members expired, and now i believe the band is being run under new people?? its so fucking weird. i'm trying to find more info about it
theres also discontinued swedish and hungarian versions of the band, but i don't talk about them so much. oh and the elusive english version, which technically exists but doesn't but does?
SauruXet: a copyright dispute between the original creators of hevisaurus and sony, the label they're under, broke out sometime in 2011, leading to the creation of sauruxet (a stylization of "saurukset" meaning dinosaurs/saurs). it was broken up in 2012 when sony won the dispute and the members either quit or returned under hevisaurus.
Herra Hevisaurus (also called Mr Heavysaurus or Mr Heavysaurios depending on the band): lead singer tyrannosaurus rex, most likely played by Olavi Tikka and has been for almost the entirety of the band
Riffi Raffi: guitarist dragon, originally played by Nino Laurenne but is most likely now played by either Kimmo Nissinen or Mika Tyyskä
Muffi Puffi: bassist stegosaurus, was likely originally played by Pasi Heikkilä but is now played by Vesa Kuhlman? (need to do more research on that)
Milli Pilli: keyboardist triceratops, was likely originally played by Emilia Takayama but is now played by Hanna Risku
Komppi Momppi: drummer apatosaurus, was originally played by Mirka Rantanen but is likely now played by Ville Siuruainen
i dont have the names of the people involved in the other versions but hopefully soon...

My baby. Oh my sweet sweet baby boy. I could never gather anything to even slightly dislike you. I wouldn’t let you see me cry like a child just because you’re a plaything. I wouldn’t spill my deepest secrets because I was bored. no.
You gave me spirit and the urge to live- I want to see your smile without braces again, and the orange grow back in your hair. Your face and body change as we get older. You made me want to learn more to give you more.
Bowie, I’d follow you to the end of the universe if you say so much as my name. You’re the sweetest boy, and much more of a man than my father or anyone else. I can’t imagine any universe without you. I can’t imagine anything without us, because you really are the center of my universe.
You are created from star dust, never to be destroyed or created again. The photons of light that’ve bounced off your smile and your eyes could still be very much still travelling into the abyss of space. It could until the end of time. All the heat you’ve ever given off will stay here, in this universe.
I love you, Bowie. I love you to the depths of the Earth’s core, and the expanse of all the universe. Even if I don’t kiss you a lot, or touch you a lot, I want to. And I miss you a lot. I do think of you once in a while- I think of you all the time.
I see jewellery and wish I could buy it for you. I see aquatic animals and think “Bowie would love this”. I wanted to bring you up to Cairns in Queensland with me, because it had an awesome aquarium and I would love to go on a hike with you, just that once.
You’re the one boy I would harness the ocean tides if you wanted me to. I’d rotate the moon to show the dark side instead, I’d give anything to take your pain away. It hurts me when you insult your face. I think the orange in your hair makes the sun seem perfectly warm against my skin. I love your style, my little time traveller.
If I am correct, and you’re an immortal time traveller like Doctor Who, and I’m just one lover in the face of many, I want to believe in reincarnation. Because I want you to only be mine. I want you in every life time, whether we’re two anomalocaris dying together at the end of the Cambrian period, a Stegosaurus and a Tyrannosaurus Rex dancing together during the Cretaceous period, if we’re two emo idiots in 2004 or maybe two nerds in a 50s Jazz Band. I want you in all of them. I need you in this one, especially.
If I am wrong though, then at least spend the one life we have together, here. Let me care and nurture you for what I have in my life. You don’t have to worry about anything but being mine. I think you’re pretty neat. So stay here a while, and we can find a quiet place to sit away from all that noise.
You’ll always be my man. Du wirst immer mein Mann sein. Tu seras toujours mon homme.
And I hope to always be your boy, too. Und Ich hoffe, immed auch dein Junge zu sein. Et j’espère être tojours ton garçon aussi.
