TRM Round 1: T. Rex the band vs. Prehistoric Park (Matilda)
Tumblr media
T. Rex the band – Though not really a T. rex (and incorrectly capitalized), this English band from the 1970s still warrants inclusion for their pioneering of glam rock and hit songs like “Ride a White Swan” and “Get it On.” Other than the fact that they began as Tyrannosaurus Rex and later shortened the name to T. Rex, I can find nothing on why the name was chosen. Maybe Marc Bolan just liked dinosaurs.
Tumblr media
Prehistoric Park (Matilda) – In true Tyrannosaurus form, Matilda makes herself a menace in the otherwise peaceful, if chaotic, sanctuary for prehistoric life. Not content to only attack her brother, Terrence, Matilda breaks out yet again in the final episode, threatening Head Keeper Bob and many of the other animals. Her rampage is thwarted by Martha the mammoth, who defends a baby elephant, and Nigel, who manages to lead her back to containment.

T. Rex - Electric Warrior (1971)
Fifty-three years ago this week, on September 24, 1971, Electric Warrior, the second studio album by T. Rex and sixth since their debut as Tyrannosaurus Rex, was released. A marked turning point for the Bolan and the band, the album is a departure from their folk roots and pioneers a vibrant, flamboyant glam-rock style. The UK’s best-selling album of 1971, the album hit number one on the back of its number one single, “Get It On,” which remains the band’s sole North American hit. Hugely influential, both musically and stylistically, the album is generally considered one of the best records of all time.

Dinosaur AU
Gaz and Soap are both hadrosaurs, Gaz is a parasaurolophus and Soap is a lambeosaurus. Price is a styracosaurus. They banded together to help protect other herbivores from a growing threat called the Shadow Clan, a mixed pack of dromaeosaurs lead by a utahraptor called Graves. The dromaeosaurs who follow him mostly consist of velociraptors called Shadows.
Price, Gaz, and Soap were cornered by Shadows, Soap severely injured and if Price and Gaz made the wrong move they would have an opening. Soap was telling them to leave him when, suddenly, a massive tyrannosaurus rex attacked the Shadows. They thought they were done for considering the might've had a chance with the Shadows but this guy? Price was ready to try to give Gaz and Soap a chance to escape when the rex just started to leave?
They were confused and the rex stopped and glared at them, "Get the fuck out of here."
Then he was gone.
Their saving grace was the king of killers. He killed the Shadows and chased off the rest before just leaving. Soap had suffered heavy blood loss but managed to jokingly call the guy a ghost before Price and Gaz managed to get to him to a safer location.

Michael Norman Mickey Finn (3 June 1947 – 11 January 2003)[1] was an English musician. He was best known as the percussionist and sideman to Marc Bolan in his band Tyrannosaurus Rex (on one album, A Beard of Stars) and later the 1970s glam rock group T. Rex. After Bolan's death and T. Rex's demise, he worked as a session musician for The Blow Monkeys and The Soup Dragons.

Song of the day: December 30 2024
20th Century Boy by T. Rex
About T. Rex:
T. Rex (originally Tyrannosaurus Rex) were an English rock band formed in London in 1967 by singer-songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan, who was their leader, frontman and only consistent member. Though initially associated with the psychedelic folk genre, Bolan began to change the band's style towards electric rock in 1969, and shortened their name to T. Rex the following year. This development culminated in 1970 with their first significant hit single "Ride a White Swan", and the group soon became pioneers of the glam rock movement.
