Halloween prompts year 2 day 21
He made this trip every month. More now that his parents portal had been activated. It made travel between dimensions much easier and more discreet.
It was easy to soar above gothams city skyline in one of his adoptive parents jets. They were silent and had cloaking technology that made them invisible to the naked eye and prevents it from showing up on radars and the like.
Unfortunately his biological father had just diverted a rocket launcher that had been aimed at the local library by the newest rogue in the making by diverting it skyward...right where Danny was flying.
The resulting explosion ripped away the jets cloaking abilities, leaving Danny straining the steering stick uselessly as the jet fell towards the Gotham Bay. He reached for the portal gun he kept in the ship for emergencies, intending to abandon ship before it could hit the waters but unbeknownst to him, his mom had installed a new safety protocol and he was ejected from the jet.
In a panic, he covered his face with the domino mask he had accidently stolen on a previous trip. He was a clone of one of the bats! They couldn't see his face! He has personally witnessed what they did to thier clones and he wasn't going to wind up like them!
So as he steers his parachute to a safer location hes forced to make a plan.
He later returns to the wreckage to look for the portal gun only to find it and the entire ship are gone.
----
Tim fiddled with the control panel of the ship, trying to figure it out.
"Anything?" Nightwing asked from elsewhere in the cave
Tim shook his head, baffled, "Nothing. I've never seen anything like this before."
Nightwing landed just outside the ships entrance before waltzing in, "Do you think its alien?"
"Possibly. Whoever made this used a fuel source completely unknown to us. Whatever it was it was likely either destroyed in the explosion of dissipated in the bay."

it's been so long since i did a sith obi-wan au so like - how about an au where the sith are almost as established as the jedi (a temple, an order, followers numbering in the hundreds/thousands) but things are a bit more diplomatic in the galaxy (it's definitely tense but not all out war just yet)
so both the sith and jedi orders are alerted to a new rising power in the outer rim.....on tatooine of all places. a slave rebellion, led by shmi skywalker, has toppled the hutts. it's said that this new leader, queen of tatooine, has the Force's favor....but more importantly than that, shmi skywalker is a new galactic player, with a lot of money and a lot of support.....and a son of marriageable age.
cue both the jedi and the sith sending a delegation to tatooine - ostensibly to nurture galactic relations between their orders and the new power, but also to lowkey seduce shmi skywalker's son into marriage/a relationship because everyone knows that a parent's heart follows their children's happiness.
sith!obi-wan aka darth solence is selected to lead the sith seduction attempt. he's pretty confident - after all, he's led hundreds of seduction missions at this point, and he'd suffer a thousand different humiliations for the sake of the order of the sith who took him in after the jedi sent him to the agricorps.
the only problem is that he arrives on tatooine and shmi skywalker's son, anakin, is the most bland, boring, two-dimensional boy to ever breathe. he's completely uninterested in politics, in history, in the Force---he'd rather talk about pod-racing and--and Coruscanti daytime holo shows than anything of actual interest!
good thing the prince's manservant, kitster, is almost always hanging around. he's wrong about many things, obi-wan finds, but he's passionate. passionate and beautiful. oh, he loves pod-racing just as much as the prince, but he's fascinated by the Force and ready to tear obi-wan's eyes out over a passing negative observation on a droid. and did obi-wan mention that he's beautiful? with his golden curls and sky blue eyes and fierce scowl and broad shoulders and prominent eyebrows and even more prominent lips? the sith, as a general rule, appreciate passion, anger. beauty. obi-wan adores them as well.
but kitster the man servant isn't the person obi-wan has been flown to tatooine to seduce--he's duty-bound to seduce prince anakin. even if being around him feels like pulling his teeth out with rusty pliers.
if only obi-wan knew that shmi skywalker is more suspicious about the galaxy than she lets on. more protective of her son, too. if only he knew that her son, anakin, had a best friend growing up named kitster, who owed them both just enough life-debts to convince him to trade places with shmi's son for the length of the delegations' visit.
it's an easy sell after all -- who doesn't want to be a prince for a few weeks, no harm done?

The next morning, it rains.
The pitter-patter of rain against your windows wakes you up, because it sounds wrong. There’s only one small window in your room in Kate’s house, and when weather blows in it’s the sound of water trickling down and dripping off the thatch roof that’s loudest, not the rain itself. Here the sound echoes strangely in the big space, and you wake with a start, disoriented, your heart-hammering in your chest.
It feels like your life in town is the dream, trickling away faster than you can cup your hands to hold onto it. You fly out of bed and wrap a blanket around your shoulders, dashing out into the hallway, bare feet cold on the stone floor. The king’s bedroom is directly across the hall from your own, and you stare at the door, frozen and unsure if you’re willing to risk knocking, breath caught in your throat, chest tight, anxiety squeezing your ribs until they ache.
You’re sixteen and twenty-six both, living two lives out in one panicking body. You no longer belong here and you’ve never been anywhere else. Your father is alive, angry, terrifying, and he’s dead and buried where he can’t hurt you anymore. You are a tossed coin landed on it’s edge, waiting to fall.
The door in front of you opens, and you leap back on instinct, but breathe a sigh of relief when it’s John standing there, looking at you with surprise first, and then concern. “Sweetpea?” he asks, stepping forward to meet you, but leaving space between your bodies, like he knows that it would be worse for him to touch you right now. “What’s wrong?”
You press your shaking fingers to your mouth, holding back a sob. You swallow it down, pulling yourself together enough to speak. “I thought it was a dream,” you say at last. “I thought he was still alive.”
There’s no question who you mean. John reaches a hand out, an offering, and you take it, clinging to him like a life-line. He reels you into his arms, and you lean in, the solid, warm bulk of him as reliable and real as the earth below. “He’s not,” he says firmly. “I put him in the ground myself. You’re safe.”
You nod against his chest, feeling small and silly now. “I’m sorry,” you say, although you’re not sure what you’re sorry for. For showing weakness, maybe, for being lost in your own memory, for needing reassurance.
“It’s early yet,” he murmurs against the top of your head. “You should try to sleep a little longer.”
You’re not sure you could even if you tried, and even though you’re still tired, the adrenaline leaving your body cold, fatigue dragging at your bones insistently. You could maybe sleep against John’s chest, holding onto him, his heartbeat steady and strong enough in your ear to drown out the still-frenetic tempo of your own. “I think I’ll just get dressed,” you say, pushing away. He drops his arms instantly, letting you put a little distance between you.
He shakes his head, smiling at you fondly, eyes crinkling up at the corners. “Sweetpea, the sun hasn’t even risen. Go back to bed. I know just the thing to help. Go on.” He turns you toward your door and nudges you along.
There’s no point in arguing with him— You are tired, and although you suspect sleep will be beyond your reach, it’s cold in the hallway, especially now that you’re no longer pressed against John’s warm chest, and your bed is still warm when you climb back in.
Darkness presses down on you, heavy as grave-dirt, and you lay there, staring at the ceiling. You touch the crystal lamp next to your bed to light up the room, but that’s no better, really.
John knocks, but doesn’t wait for your answer before coming in, a dark wolf with blue eyes trotting in on his heels. “Go on, Soap,” he says, and Soap hops up onto your bed and lays down half on top of you, his head on your shoulder, tail wagging. John pats him on the head like he’s just a dog. “He’ll keep an eye on you.”
It should probably feel weird to cuddle up with a werewolf, since he’s really a man, and you’ll have to face that silly, crooked grin in the morning, but you need someone to cling to, and you’re to proud and cautious to cling to John. “Thank you,” is all you have it in you to say.
“He gets nightmares too. Usually sleeps across someone’s bed. I’m sure he’d be happy to stay with you while you’re here.” John says it simply, without a drop of judgment or condescension, and scratches behind Soap’s ear. “He’s a real good listener when he can’t talk back too.” He withdraws, tapping the light and throwing the room into darkness again.
You don’t even hear the door click shut. You bury your face into the thick fur around Soap’s neck and fall asleep almost instantly.
When you wake up again, it's with a very large, very naked man on top of you.
You yelp, scrambling back on your pillows. Johnny’s eyes snap open at your first movement, on high alert before he’s all the way awake. He scrambles too, and falls right off the side of the bed with a solid thud.
"Oh! Johnny I'm so sorry," you look down at him from the edge of the mattress, trying not to laugh. "I forgot you were here."
"It's alright, lass. I didna mean to startle ye. Ah shift back overnight sometimes. Price didnae remember to warn ye." He sits up and leans against the bed, forearms folded over each other. He looks no worse for wear, and like he slept as solidly as you did, those last few hours. There’s a faint imprint of lace from your nightgown on his face, and half of his hair is stuck straight up, the rest pressed flat. "Are ye feelin' better?"
“I am. Thank you for staying with me.”
“S’nothin’ really. Nicer sleepin’ with you than Gaz, he kicks awl night long. An’ Nox doesnae like me none, so I cannae stay with Ghost.” He grins. “Price lets me stay but he makes me sleep at the foot of the bed like a dog. Sometimes a man wants a cuddle, ye ken?”
You giggle. “I ken.”
"Really livin' up to yer name, aye Sweetpea?"
You laugh again. "Johnny, you know that's not my name, right?"
"No? What is it?" He shakes his head when you tell him. "I like Sweetpea better. Suits ye."
"Me too," you tell him. It has no connections to your previous life. It just reminds you of the pretty pink, purple, and white flowers that grow on delicate, curling vines that you like to grow over the side of the chicken coop.
There's a knock on the door, and Johnny leaps up to see who it is. You have to hold your hand up quickly to avoid getting an eyeful of things you're not supposed to see. He's absolutely shameless-- you suspect he wouldn't think twice about strolling down the hallways without a scrap on. You have a curiousity about men's bodies that you're too bashful to indulge, even if you're pretty sure that Johnny would stand still and let you look as long as you liked. Well, maybe not stand still. But you doubt he would mind.
It's Ghost at the door. He doesn't wait for an invitation to come in, but he has clothes for Johnny hung over his arm, so you don't mind. Honestly, you can bear a few overzealous men who feel entitled to your space for a few days, because after that you'll get to go home and get back to your life.
Ghost positions himself between you and Johnny, just as he had yesterday. "Price said you 'ad a bit of an episode earlier. You olright?"
"Just fine," you say brightly. "No need to worry."
"Och, let him worry, hen. He likes ta do it."
"I'm really fine," you insist.
"You want to visit the mausoleum? Might make it feel more real."
You'd be more interested in going there to visit your mother's grave, if you're going at all, but you think that you'll wait for a sunnier day. A gray, dreary morning like the one outside your windows is no balm for dark memories or old wounds. Sunshine might be. "Not today," you say. "Maybe tomorrow." You get out of bed as gracefully as possible, well aware that you have an audience. "Perhaps the two of you could step outside for a moment while I get dressed?"
Ghost glances behind him, checking to see if Soap is covered up enough for him to move, and then walks over to your closet and pulls out a screen that you hadn't noticed sitting in the corner there, and sets it up. "There you go, Sweetpea. You'll need help with all your fastenin's anyway, won't you?"
You imagine that he's smiling under the mask, more than a little smug about it, but you let it slide. "Very thoughtful."
"Try to be."
The blank face of his mask gives you nothing when you glance over, aside from that he’s looking back. It’s not the first time that you’ve wished for more insight into what he’s thinking, but there’s a gravity to his attention that you swear was never there before, and it prickles at the back of your neck even after you duck out of sight.
You choose a sunny yellow dress today, to counter the deluge outside, and remove the silk scarf wrapped around your head so you can twist your braids on each side from your brow back to the nape of your neck, pinning the lengths into a knot. You’ll have to redo them soon, but without Kate and her wife to help you, you know it’ll take hours, if not most of a day.
You walk over to where Ghost is sitting and turn your back to him so he can button it up for you. He hands you his gloves to hold while he does so, and you run your hands over the detail of white leather bones stitched on over the well-worn black leather, decoration and extra protection both. Idly, you slip one on, but your hands are so small in comparison to his that you have to stretch your hand out just to get your fingers arranged inside it properly. He stands behind you, and leans over you to gently pull them from your hands, as though to underline again how much bigger he is than you are.
The top of your head brushes his chest when you tip your head back to look at him. “Thank you,” you say.
“I’m always ‘appy to ‘elp,” he says. “I’m with you for the mornin’ anyway. Might as well make myself useful, eh?”
“Stuck minding me?” you tease, sweeping around to fold back the sheets on your bed, only to find that one of them had already done it. Ghost, most likely, judging by how neat it is. You touch his arm lightly in silent thanks, and the three of you leave your room together.
Other than insisting you eat breakfast (served in a communal dining hall, where they insist on bringing things to you rather than let you suffer the indignity of standing in a line, and watch you eat with unnerving intensity), they’re content to follow you around as you refamiliarize yourself with the castle, mapping out changes so you don’t get turned about looking for anything. You find a number of familiar faces here and there, and have an perplexingly similar conversation with anyone you know, where they welcome you back cheerfully, and grow a bit quiet and nervous when you insist that you won’t be staying long, and when you try to press them on that, you’re ushered out, told they’re too busy to chat, and that you’ll find time to catch up later.
You suspect that Ghost and Johnny are the source of their nerves, but both of them always seem to be a few paces out of (human) earshot, and minding their own business, talking about something else quietly between them.
"Where's Kyle?" you ask as you're hustled out of the the healer's work shop and back out into the hallway. It’s become abundantly clear, no matter how well they feign innocence, that your hulking shadows are making the staff nervous, and you decide not to subject anyone else to their company. If you can slip away from them later, you might be able to have an actual conversation.
“Prob’ly ‘oled up in ‘is workshop,” Ghost says. “Some weeks we ‘ardly see ‘im.”
“Wizardy shite,” Johnny adds, his tone disapproving. “As if there aren’t a thousand ways ta blow shite intae bits withoot wigglin’ yer fingers. Can blow up flour, did ye know, Sweetpea? In barrels isnae much different than black powder.”
“Still useful to have a little magic,” you say, flipping your palm over and conjuring a flame in the centre of it. It’s one of the few spells in your cache, and you’ve mostly just used it to light candles and the stove. Your lessons barely dipped beyond simple control— You’d been told that magic was no proper pastime for a lady. When you think back on it now, you think it’s more that your father never wanted you to have defenses that he could not control, or that could be used against him. A grim thought, from this side of things.
“Forgot you ‘ave a little magic in you.” Ghost holds his hands above yours, feeling the heat coming off the small flame. “Come on, pet. Let’s find Kyle. Might be enough to pull ‘is nose out of ‘is books.”
You close your hand, extinguishing the flame, and let them guide you through a few corridors and up a spiraling stone staircase.
Johnny hesitates at the door, nose wrinkling at the slight, hard to identify smell of complex magical wards that are carved neatly into the doors. You can feel the slight hum of it in your teeth. Ghost pushes the door open without knocking (you think all four of these men might be allergic to knocking), and steps inside.
You follow, and stop right there in the doorway while Ghost ventures in further. Kyle is shirtless, doing pushups over a heavy looking book. He doesn't look up, doesn't even stop when he turns the page, just continues the exercise one handed. He's in perfect shape, every muscle well-defined, putting even some of the finely-carved marble statues you've seen to shame. He has a frame for wiry muscle, but he's worked so hard that he's gotten bulky too, and although he's not as broad as Soap or as big as Ghost, it's clear that he's stronger than most men. Certainly stronger than men of his occupation have any need to be.
"What do you want, Ghost?" Kyle asks, still focused on his reading. "I'm busy, you know."
"Brought our girl by to see you, and you don't even bother lookin' up."
Kyle’s attention does snap up at that, brown eyes sliding past Ghost’s legs to you, still hovering in the doorway, Johnny a step behind, peering over your shoulder. Kyle scrambles to his feet, sending the book flying with a gesture. It settles on the desk behind him as he steps around Ghost, dusting his hands against his trousers before he takes yours, pulling you more fully into the space. His skin gleams with a thin sheen of sweat, but he's not the least bit out of breath. “Come on in, Sweetpea. Did you come all the way up here just to see me?”
“Of course,” you say. It’s a silly question, although now that you look around the space, you’re gripped by curiousity. The circular room is lined with bookshelves, each full of thick, leather and linen-bound tomes that hum with power. The whole room sings like a chorus, the sound not in your ears, but tickling the back of your mind instead. “I was wondering where you’d gone off to. I don’t want to interrupt, of course, if you’re working on something.” Although, now that you're looking, it seems like he’s working on many things, all at once. He has a carousel of research tomes open next to the desk, and neatly written pages laid out over the desk to dry, a stack of opened and unopened correspondence in a basket hanging from the side, ingredients measured out by a shelf full of bottles and jars of strange and familiar ingredients, and there are unlit candles set around the perimeter of an open area on the floor, a circle of iridescent tile set into the stone, pale and glittering.
“Nothing important this moment. Just studying while I wait for ink to dry. The mind grows dull if you don’t take the time to keep it sharp.” He glances at Johnny meaningfully, and receives a rude gesture in response.
“There’s more’n just books if ye want to keep sharp,” Johnny says, his voice flinty. “Isnae the only way to learn, ye know.”
You glance at Ghost. His mask looks back at you, blank as ever. “There’s a place for books, and a place for practical application,” you say diplomatically. “Wisdom can be found in many places.”
“In a pretty girl, for one,” Ghost says approvingly. “Would be good for you to crack a book once in a while, Soap. And for you to spend a little less time ‘oled up in ‘ere.” His head turns toward Kyle.
“I have a lot to do, you know,” Kyle says. “I can’t just shove everything to the side whenever I please.”
You drift closer to the desk, peeking at the tome he was referencing earlier, the pages opened to a chapter on illusion spells. Curious, you glance to his notes, humming with interest at the first page you glance at. It’s something about setting spells of illusion into fabric, weaving magic into the very stitches. “Are you trying to make a cloak of shadows?” you ask, picking up the page carefully by the edges, still mindful of the mostly dried ink.
Kyle looks over at you and smiles, but it’s all teeth. “Something like that. I didn’t know you were interested in magical theory.”
“She’s got a little sorcery in ‘er,” Ghost explains. “Maybe you should give ‘er a lesson or two. While she’s ‘ere.”
Your ears perk up at that, and you drop the paper back to the desk, forgetting it entirely. “Would you?” you ask excitedly. “I really would love to learn more.”
Kyle slips his shirt back on and beckons you over to one of the bookcases, smile turning sly and conspiratorial. “Can you give me a hand Sweetpea? I need something off the top shelf.”
You look up at the top shelf, which is well out of your reach. “Kyle, I think maybe you should ask Ghost.”
“Sorry, pet, I’m busy keepin’ Soap from pilferin’ alchemical ingredients.”
"Wasnae pilferin'! Just takin' a wee looksie. Isnae a crime."
"Soap," Kyle says pleasantly. "If I find anything missing we are going to have a long talk about it." He shakes his head lightly, sweet brown eyes finding yours, amused.
"D'ye think he means a good rough fuck?" Johnny asks Ghost, not quite quiet enough for you not to hear it. "Or an actual chat? Because that's goan ta change what I do here."
"I really don't think I can help," you say to Kyle, ignoring Johnny's query as much as you can. "Unless you'd like me to climb the shelves."
"Here." He crouches down in front of you and hugs your knees to his chest, other hand a higher on the backs of your thighs to hold you steady, and pops up. You let out a little shriek, and press your hands against his strong shoulders for support. "Don't worry, Sweetpea, I've got you. Now, can you grab that slim blue volume to the right? The one with no title on the spine."
Scanning the neat row of books, you locate the one he means and pick it up. "Ive got it," you inform him, laughing. "Now please put me down."
He slides you down his front carefully, adjusting his grip, your skirts bunching up and exposing your stockinged calves, and he holds you just above him for a moment. You loop your arms around his neck reflexively, holding the book behind him. He looks up at you, so dazzlingly handsome, you're almost surprised that he's real.
"Kyle," you remind him gently. "Please put me down."
“You sure?” he asks, bringing you down just a little more, so that your face is just above his own. “You look a bit tired today, princess. Could just carry you around for the rest of the day if you like.”
“That will not be necessary,” you say firmly. “But it’s a very kind offer.”
You hear a snort from the other side of the room, but you’re not sure if it comes from Ghost or Johnny. “Nothin’ kind about it,” Johnny says, crossing his arms. “Bastard just likes the idea of bein’ pressed up against ye all day.”
“You slept in her bed last night,” Kyle reminds him. “There’s no need to be jealous.”
“Ahm no’ jealous! Yer just bein’ a fandan charmer tryna cop a wee feel, an’ ye willnae admit ta it.”
You look over at Ghost, and he shakes his head. You imagine that he’s rolling his eyes, just as exasperated by the two of them as you are. He comes to your rescue though, carefully pulling you out of Kyle’s arms and setting you back down on the floor. “Thank you, Ghost,” you say archly, shaking your crumpled skirts out with one hand.
“Sorry, Sweetpea,” Kyle says, and you can’t help but note that he certainly doesn’t sound sorry. “If you read the first chapter of this tonight, we can do a lesson in the morning. This will probably be a step up from whatever paltry lessons the old wizard gave you— I know he took offence to the idea of training you at all, the closed-minded old bastard. If you have any questions, make notes, and we can go over it.” He taps the top of the book you hold. “You can write in it, if you like. I’ve scribbled in the margins a few times myself.”
You tuck the book into your pocket. “Thank you, Kyle. I appreciate that.”
“Anything for you, Sweetpea.”
You hesitate, a bit nervous to ask a favour when he’s already agreed to take time out of his day to give you a lesson in something you’re not sure you have enough talent in to warrant. He’s cleary a busy person, and you don’t want to waste his time.
Kyle senses your hesitation, and reaches for your hand, squeezing reassuringly. “Anything,” he repeats, brown eyes oh-so earnest.
Your ears feel hot. Flirting comes as easily to him as breathing, and even though you’re sure he means little by it, by his relationship with Johnny and the claim that John has laid on you, it’s hard not to grow flustered when he directs the full force of that sunshine smile at you. “Did you ever, um, help your sisters with their hair? I’d like to have a bath this afternoon, and wash my hair, but it’ll take me ages to rebraid it alone. I would really appreciate an extra set of hands if you have a spare minute tomorrow.”
He grins at that, pleased to be able to help you with something that Ghost and Johnny are ill-equipped to. The scar on his cheek dimples slightly when he smiles this hard, the slight flaw in his complexion more a dashing accessory to his charm than any detractor. “Would be happy to help. Do you have everything else you need? Oil? Curl cream?”
You hadn’t thought to check what was in the cupboard in the bathroom. “I’m not sure,” you admit.
“I have some. I’ll bring them by your room later this afternoon, just in case.”
Ghost offers to walk you back to your room, leaving Johnny behind to discuss something with Kyle, although as soon as the door closes, you hear a crash and a series of colourful swear words. You glance behind you as Ghost ushers you down the stairs. “Should we—”
“No. Trust me, Sweetpea. They’re just fine, and not doin’ anything you want to see.”
“Oh.” The implication warms you from the tips of your ears to somewhere in your belly.
“You’ve got the lads all worked up,” Ghost adds, as though you needed more context. “Competin’ with each other to get a smile out of you. Let ‘em blow off a little steam.”
“I don’t understand why they’re so concerned with me, if they have each other,” you say, trailing one hand over the wall, feeling the bumps of cool stone and seams between the cut blocks as you descend. “And John has made no secret of his intentions.”
He touches your arm to halt you, and moves past, taking a few extra steps so he stands below you, the near-hidden gleam of his eyes on level with yours. The two of you are alone here, where the curve of the stairs create a private universe, a pocket of stone and crystal light casting meagre shadow. "What are your intentions?" He asks. "Are you goin' to just let 'im take what 'e pleases?"
"I intend to go home," you say. "I won't be staying."
"Olright, maybe you do go 'ome. And what'f Kyle or Johnny came sniffin' round to court you themselves?"
"They won't."
"Why wun't they? You're a ray of sunshine sweet girl. You're the only one that don't see it."
"Ghost--"
"No, hush up for a moment, princess. You've got the wrong idea. I personally threatened every man that so much as looked your way. For years. Din't think about 'ow that'd make you feel. You're beautiful. Enough to chase, enough to go to bloody war for." His body is still, save for the slightest twitch of his fingers. “I don’t know why you can’t see it. You make us all crazy.”
The surety that John would really let you go slips as Ghost speaks, something fundamental about your footing in the world shifting uneasily beneath you. You had found comfort in the idea that you were quotidian, unremarkable. That the crown alone was aggrandizing, and you could pass unnoticed without it. Now you wonder if you’ve ever gone unnoticed, or if it was just that you had been too obtuse to see. “It doesn’t matter,” you insist. It’s easier to reject what he says outright, even if Ghost has never lied to you, never given you a reason to doubt his words. The ground settles. “I will be going home in a few days, and once John has my official endorsement none of you will have to keep an eye on me again.”
“You won’t rid yourself of me that easily,” he says firmly. “Keepin’ you safe’s one of the only jobs that I do that’s worth doin’. I promised your mum I would, an’ I don’t intend to break my oath just because you don’t think you’re worth it.”
“My mother asked you to?” You had always thought Ghost’s orders had come from your father, setting the quiet, faceless, black-clad knight on your heels, as close as a shadow, only leaving your side when the king sent him off to fight, somewhere far and away. “Why?”
“Figured she could tell I ‘aven’t got an ounce of ambition in me. Used to, before I came ‘ere. Didn’t do me any good. Can’t trust my own head, sometimes. But if I can trust what’s ‘ere—” He puts his hand to his chest, head tipped slightly to the side. “— Then I know I can trust what’s in there.” He lifts his hand and taps his finger against your forehead lightly.
You blink at him, surprised by how much he’s said all at once. Abruptly, he turns around and continues down the stairs, finished the conversation. You spur yourself back into motion, sweeping your skirts up with one hand so you don’t trip. There’s no doubt that you could trust Ghost to catch you, but the risk of sending you both tumbling down the long spiral staircase has you moving cautiously.
He stays with you for a bit, offering help unbraiding your hair and unbuttoning your dress, and leaves without protest when you ask him to. Predictably, he’s quiet the entire time, as though he used up his daily quota of words all at once in the stairway.
You lay out everything you need close to the tub, and sink into a hot bath, sighing. This is perhaps one of the few things you really did miss about castle life— Hot running water. If you wanted a hot bath in town, you would either have to go to the public bathhouse, or spend a good hour boiling enough water to fill a tub at Kate’s house.
You hum happily to yourself, which turns to singing out loud, the acoustics in the tiled room too good to resist. You sing your way through a number of folk songs as you run a cloth over your skin and scrub your hair clean, hot water and soap washing away what little of the darkness from that morning that company and distraction hadn’t banished, clinging shadows in the corners of your mind scoured clean again.
You pull the plug and let the water start to drain, and stand up, wringing your hair out before you reach over to the towel you’d set aside for yourself, bracing you hand on the side of the tub.
“What are you two muppets doing?” John’s voice coming through the cracked open door startles you. And it startles Johnny and Kyle too, because they tumble through the door onto the tiled floor, landing on top of each other in a heap.
You clutch the towel to your front, unable to keep yourself from letting out a surprised shriek. It takes a moment for surprise to give way to anger, your shocked, wide-eyed gaze traveling from Johnny’s red face to Kyle’s guilty expression to John in the doorway, a complicated mix of stony anger and surprise in his blue eyes. Both emotions fade as his attention lingers on your exposed legs, crawling up slowly.
“I came to drop off— But he was—” Kyle starts to try to explain himself.
“Dinnae try to blame tha’ on me, ye fuckin’ roaster, Ahm no’ a’ fault for what yer doin’,” Johnny cuts him off angrily, shoving Kyle off of him. “Yer no’ better than me just ‘cause ye weren’t here first.”
“I wouldn’t have—”
You level a glare at him that has his mouth shutting so fast that you can hear the click of his teeth. “Get out.”
The two of them scramble up and nearly fall over themselves trying to get out as quickly as possible, mortified to have been caught. They start sniping at each other before they’ve even gotten out of earshot.
John, however, doesn’t budge from the doorway. You direct your fury at him. “John. Get out.”
He doesn’t scramble to obey like the younger men did, as is he has any more right to be there than they did. “Sweetpea,” he says evenly, as though he expects to be able to talk you down from your very justified anger with a few measured words.
“Now,” you snap. “Before I lose my temper.”
He hesitates a moment longer, but the look on your face makes him reconsider trying to have a conversation with you for the moment, and he leans into the room just enough to grasp the door handle and pull it closed behind him as he retreats.
You look at the ceiling for a long moment, swallowing down the urge to scream.
By the time Ghost comes to fetch you for dinner (unsurprising that the other three didn’t have the nerve) you’ve mostly calmed down, untangling your emotions as you do your hair. You hope that John will have news of your cousin’s witness, so you can count down the days. The longing for home has intensified, and all you want is to curl up in your bed in Kate’s house and cry. If it will be weeks, you’ll ask if you can go home in the interim, and come back when the time comes to make your speech.
Ghost helps you button up your dress. You’re so tired of needing help from them. Your ire bleeds over, and you’re snappy with him too, annoyed that you’ve had to spend so much time with men lately. Aggravated that you’re forced to rely on them for something as private as getting dressed, when they shouldn’t even be alone with you in your room to begin with.
You apologize on the way down the stairs, however. Ghost just chuckles in response. “Even when you’re snappin’, you’re a peach,” he says. “Don’t think you missed a single opportunity for a please and thank you. Can’t ‘elp yourself from bein’ sweet.”
“Well, you didn’t do anything,” you say. “I’m not angry with you, I shouldn’t be rude.”
“Think it would be a bit of a lark, you bein’ rude.”
You laugh, and it clears away some of the lingering bitterness, like sediment washing away downstream. You feel remarkably clear-headed when you enter the dining room and face the three sets of guilty eyes.
All three of them start to speak at once, and stop as soon as you raise your hand. “I don’t want to hear it,” you say firmly. “All three of you are grown men, and you should know better than to behave so shamefully.”
John frowns, not happy to be receiving the same share of the blame. “Sweetpea, I wasn’t—”
“I am not finished.” You cut him off with a sharp look. “I know I do not need to chastise any of you. All of you were in the wrong. But I share some of the blame too, allowing you all free access to my space in the first place. So here is what will change. One, I would like a lock on my door. No more popping in without permission. Two, you will all learn how to knock. Three, I would like a lady to accompany me for the rest of my stay here. It is not appropriate for me to accept assistance from any man with dressing, and I do not require shadows following me everywhere I go.”
Ghost shifts beside you. “Now ‘old on,” he says. “You need protection.”
“I need no such thing. I do not believe there are assassins waiting around every corner for me.”
“I should be with you,” he insists. “If somethin’ ‘appens—”
“What do you expect is going to happen?” you ask hotly. You’ve lived on your own for years, and your hiding place was apparently well known to everyone. If an assassin was coming to dispatch you, they would have already come. The opportunities had likely been plentiful.
“Ghost is right. You need to be kept safe.” John holds up both hands when you look at him, half a surrender and half a plea for you to hear him out. You raise your eyebrows slightly, waiting. “A compromise. A fighting woman. Someone that can help you with anything you need, and can defend you if something were to happen.”
You incline your head. It’s a reasonable compromise. “That would be acceptable.”
“Farah?” Kyle asks.
“If she’ll say yes, she’d be the person I trust most with Sweetpea’s safety.” John glances at you, and offers you a little smile, like he’s not sure that you’re entirely done scolding. “You’ll like her. I’ll have her meet you in town tomorrow. Want you fitted for something nice to wear for your speech.”
“There is a closet full of perfectly nice dresses in my room,” you say. “I do not need anything else.”
“Indulge me. Your cousin’s man will be here tomorrow night, and the day after we’ll have you make your statement.” John’s smile widens, turning the slightest, inexplicable bit smug. “Want you to look your best, if it’s to be your last day as a princess, hm? And then on to better things.”
You sigh. It can't hurt to give in on this matter, since you won't have to stay much longer. “Very well, John. Although I think it’s a waste.”
The look in his deep blue eyes is inscrutable, but his smile doesn't slip. “I disagree. Nothing you let me give to you could ever be a waste.”

hotwings au where hawks is a fallen angel who happens to crash-land in dabi's backyard on his way down.
hawks' wings are from his status as an angel rather than a separate quirk
i'd like to imagine that quirks aren't really a thing that they're up to date on, as well as being pretty behind in, like, everything else
imagine hawks going into this with an ariel-like disposition
anyway this kicks off with hawks crashing into dabi's backyard in the middle of the night
dabi, who's obviously awake, gets up to go investigate what the fuck that was (naturally assumes someone's here to kill him, as any normal, not-paranoid-at-all person would think)
hawks is very upset (landed on his wing wrong and maybe broke it, which, like, "OWWW...." this guy has never felt pain before and now he's human, which is cool conceptually but why do humans feel pain?? are they like this all the time?? who would do this to them??)
which leads to dabi finding hawk in a pile of limbs armed with a broken wing tangled in the clothes lines that he never bothered to take down after he finally saved up enough for a washer-dryer unit
at this point in time, dabi hasn't been scouted by the league yet, but he's not struggling to survive. he's found a small townhouse to reside in, one story, one bedroom, and a small backyard
(the backyard was an important detail to him—sometimes dabi needs to just. bask in the sun. feel warm when he can)
hawks sees dabi and assumes that he must be someone from hell, and it was some sort of cosmic fate that brought the two together
(hawks has always been the hero-type, even as an angel. he doesn't want to defeat people, rather, he wants to help them.
(hawks is just terribly naive, which impedes this goal of his by a lot)
dabi drags hawks inside once he's figured out that he isn't with the hero commission after threatening to burn the rest of his feathers off (which, the fire isn't helping hawks' case against him)
hawks can't really just say he's an angel, mostly because he gets the feeling that saying as much to someone like dabi would go very sideways
so he spins a story about being kicked out of his home and having nowhere to go and no family to take him in even if they wanted
which, it's not really stretching the truth at all. that is what happened. he just omitted a few details
dabi is stabbed by a violent wave of sympathy that he tries to suppress at first, until remembering that he'd have done anything to have support from someone like dabi is now back when he had been scared, alone, confused and hurt
and even though hawks is cheerful enough, dabi can see the mask he's wearing—he's hiding something. something that hurts
so dabi nods, accepts this answer, and offers hawks the couch for the night, which hawks gladly accepts (and ignores the way his eyes get wet)
the next day both wake up, remember the night before, realize it wasn't a dream and think, fuck
dabi's gotten himself saddled with a roommate—cuz even if he wanted to ignore him, it's too late now, he spent the whole night turning the situation over in his mind and kicking him out would make dabi's already fragile emotional stability skew out of control
and its finally settling into hawks' head that he's been kicked out and he doesn't know where he's going or if he'll ever get the chance to go back even if he wanted to and he's doomed to spend the rest of his life wandering the earth looking for acceptance that will never last
tldr both are having mild panic attacks
dabi finally tries to address the situation by like, asking what hawks plans on doing or if he knows anyone that could help him out
which gets dabi a look so pathetic he immediately regrets asking
("fuckkk he's so sad and lame. what am i supposed to do. it's like staring at a miserable puppy with a bag full of treats in your pocket and pretending you don't know they're there.")
dabi grits out an offer:
stay here and figure out a way to pay rent, and dabi will do his best to fix up hawks' wing so he can fly again but also so it doesn't cost a million dollars to pay for the treatment in the first place
(dabi's plans consist of roaming the underground to find a doctor that could help the both of them out and threatening them—dabi's been putting off finding one for himself after his skin grafts start looking nastier than they should and this is the push he needs to get to it)
hawks, oblivious to this, agrees pretty readily
dabi nods
a moment of silence. then:
"is your real name dabi, or—"
"i'm not hearing this from you, hawks."

Some really messy sketches on a small little AU with Carmilla as a Fallen Angel Warrior.
Different from the Exorcists who slaughter Sinners, and more dedicated to the actual protection of Heaven against the darker forces. The designs haven't been thought out much, but I like drawing the horns, so I thought it'd be a cool warrior hairdo, like how Exorcists wore demonic masks (I was really bored in class okay-)
Tumblr media
Her daughters, Odette and Clara are there too. They looked pretty different even as twins, which were a bit of an oddity at the time. They were often made to dress alike, and act alike. Most viewed them as a package deal rather than taking time to understand their individuality.
Its why they're dressed so freely in hell, relishing in how different they can be whilst still having a great bond.
Tumblr media
Her daughters are ultimately what causes her to fall. Drawing the half horn half hair down style looked a lot cooler in my head, but it was fun regardless.
Some secret regarding her daughters get found out, Heaven making her choose to either cast her daughters down or join them. Carmilla didn't hesitate.
Tumblr media
More info on the AU/fic in the cut belowww:
I dunno if im ever gonna expand on it, but I loved the idea of making it Zestmilla. Maybe Carmilla met the old Overlord in one of her trips in hell, maybe fighting in a battle there? Or helping establish order? Anyway, she was alone when she met Zestial, and the two were quiet the enemies when they met. They fought, though didn't aim to kill, resulting in a close fight with Carmilla as victor. She wasn't an Exorcist warrior, and saw no need to immediately end this Overlord. She wasn't sent there to do mindless murder, and would like to avoid useless battles if she could. Besides, he was polite enough, and though she didn't trust him, he didn't grate on her nerves either. Zestial was quite taken with her, suspicious and quite murderous towards an angel, but liked her well enough for her wit and level headedness. Her grace and skill in battle was also admirable.
They bump into each other many more times, over the course of Carmilla's visits to hell, and with each meeting, they turn a bit more cordial, even striking an unlikely friendship, that blossoms into much more. It takes them about a hundred or so years(bc i LOVE relationships that REAAAALLLY take the time to develop and build on that trust and love) before they become romantically involved. They seem like the couple who would take it slow, being cautious and not rushing anything less it would harm the other.
And though Carmilla's trips to hell were halted, their love was not for naught as she gave birth to Clara and Odette. Her one regret was not being able to give Zestial the great news, he would've been an amazing father.
She manages to hide their identities for a good while. The two had rather angelic features, wings and all, and humanoid forms unlike their father's. The only thing that pointed to their demonic heritage were their eyes, whose sclera was the same shade of red as her iris. It was easily hidden with simple spells though. The two girls bore quite the resemblance towards her, even with some oddities, and were left fairly alone, being able to remain undetected for decades.
(I just left this post to sketch this out real quick lol, just to get the coloring in mind, not set on the design but I dont mind it.)
Tumblr media
The peace couldn't last. After a while with Odette and Clara still being considered young as angels, their secret gets out. Maybe the spells wore off, or by a slip of the tongue, but for some reason or another it gets found out that they're half demons. They were attacked, and the daughters were stripped of their wings and sentenced to be cast down to Hell, left at the mercy of the next Extermination. Carmilla was given a chance to redeem herself and stand back, and let her "mistakes" be washed clean.
Carmilla fought back, her wingless daughters clutching to her own feathers for protection. She scooped them up, flying away to hell, less they get any more damaged. Try as she might, however, they didn't manage to escape unscathed. She plummeted into Hell; feeling the curses and painful burn of magic at her back, nipping at her form.
It was as if Heaven and Hell itself tore her apart with her descent, both pulling with reckless abandon, shaping her into what they wanted.
She couldn't even afford to lose consciousness; she had her daughters to protect after all. Both girls were weak and bleeding, their backs aching from where their wings used to be. Carmilla glanced at her own feathers, and felt her heart break. It looked just as painful as it felt. Her once sleek and razor sharp looking feathers were nearly singed beyond repair. She retracted them, less she attract more enemies with them in display.
She struggled to get up, carrying her daughters with her despite the weakness in her legs. She didn't even have her spear with her, weaponless except for the ballet slippers she'd forged herself with angelic steel. Her hair was down and unruly, all three of them covered in burns and cuts and bruises and bleeding wounds. The attack came out of nowhere. Her daughters weren't even given a chance to defend themselves.
Weaponless. It can't happen again.
She manages to drag her daughters with her, only one place she could think of approaching. Its been decades since she's been to Hell, she hopes the territories didn't change too much. She was hesitant in going to Zestial for help. After all, its been years, and she'd left without being able to say goodbye. He'd be justified in hating her, and she wouldn't hold it against him. At the least, they could hide somewhere in his territory. His lands were one of the best choices, the demons residing under his rule were fairly disciplined. In a place as dangerous as Hell, an environment that was fairly familiar to her gave some bit of comfort. Even if he didn't accept them, even if he was unaware of their existence, Carmilla was satisfied with simply a place to rest.
She needed not worry though. As soon as Zestial heard the slightest news about strangers in his territory, he rushed to meet them himself. He noticed the large crash just some hours before night fell, and couldn't help the spark of hope. He was greeted by the sight of a few dead bodies, 1 or 2 who thought they could get lucky taking advantage of a weakened opponent. He arrived just in time to see a third fall, bloodied heels clicking on the ground below. The figure stood tall, though was clearly tired and heaving deep breaths. He barely noticed the two smaller figures in the distance, his gaze focused solely upon the lone woman, whose silver hair was still so beautiful even with all the dirt and blood matting it. He stepped closer, the sound of it causing the woman to turn and-
It didn't matter how dark it was. It didn't matter how her sclera was now the same shade of red as her iris were, as if it were inverted. He'd recognize her anywhere.
Without caring that he'd get stabbed himself, he rushed to pull her in a tight embrace, feeling her freeze beneath his arms. He buried his face in her hair, nuzzling it even with the blood and dirt, afraid as though she'd disappear if he ever let go.
He felt her large hands wrap around him and for the first time since his existence in Hell, he felt as if he could cry. This was real. This wasn't a figment of his imagination, nor a result of insanity. She was here. After all these years she came back to him. He couldn't be happier.
He immediately takes her and the two girls back to his residence, letting them clean up and helping patch their wounds. When he found out the two were his daughters, he felt as if- yea no, he was crying, this wasn't just a feeling, he couldn't stop the tears from streaming down as he hugged the two as firmly as he could without aggravating their wounds. He felt so angry for them, enraged that heaven could deal out such punishments for something the girls couldn't control.
He took them all in, preparing rooms for everyone. He prepared one for Carmilla too, not wanting to push his luck. It has been years after all, and he didn't want to force himself onto her should she decide she didn't reciprocate anymore. In the end, they all slept in the same room. Carmilla wanted to be with Zestial, feeling safer with someone else in the room to stand guard, and her daughters crawled back to her, far too afraid to sleep in such a new place alone after everything that happened.
So they all snuggled in the same large bed, Zestial keeping a respectful distance from the young girls as to not frighten them, all the while letting his webbed cloak wrap around Carmilla in comfort.
Carmilla fell asleep last, her thoughts running wild. It was all so much, but right now, here with her daughters in her arms and under Zestial's embrace, she felt at peace for the first time in a long while.
Glancing at the mirror across the room, she hummed at the changes in her eyes. The only thing she could think of was how was that she finally matched her daughters. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all, she'd think, drifting off into sleep.

Destiel AU idea (again)
Dean is searching for a flat because he recently divorced Lisa. He wants one that is big and comfortable enough to welcome his children, Ben and Emma. It's been months since he started searching for one. Fortunately, Lisa is understanding enough to let him stay in their old house until he finds something.
They actually aren't in a hard and conflicted relationship right now, their marriage stopped because there wasn't love between them anymore. They still care about each other.
Dean knew he wasn't in love with Lisa anymore and he suspected the same for Lisa, but he was fine with it. Lisa though thought otherwise. She asked for divorce because she said that they both deserved to find love and be loved.
So, Dean is doing his umpteenth visit for a flat that he spotted on Internet. This one seems really nice and clean, his children will be able to have their own rooms. And the kitchen looks awesome with enough place for him to cook.
The real estate agent who give him the tour of the flat isn't bad either. He has blue eyes, which looks surreal, long and dark eyelashes that match his hair and his growing beard. Dean listens to him attentively and can't help but look right into his eyes when he speaks. Dean wants to confide in him and he does that naturally actually.
He tells him that he is sick to search for a home for his family. It's been months, and he's exhausted to be disappointed each time he thinks he found something. But at the same time, he wants his children to feel good in that new home so he is demanding.
That real estate agent, Castiel, is compassionate and doesn't understand why Dean doesn't find one with his solid, complete application. Castiel tells Dean that maybe it's because others real estate agents are struggling right now. There's a lot of people searching for a new home at this time of the year, so a lot of work. Castiel admits that he, himself, is buried in work all day long.
He works 6 days a week constantly. Since Dean is really attentive to what the man in front of him says, he notices that Castiel doesn't seem to have someone in his life to get back to. So, he goes for it. He asks Castiel if he wants to go and get a drink with him once they have finished the tour.
Castiel seems surprised by the offer and looks away. He fumbles with his pen and papers and puts them on the kitchen counter. He takes a deep breath. So, Dean fears his answer.
"Are you asking me on a d-" Castiel starts asking hesitantly.
"Yes." Dean cuts him, because he somehow fears that word. It sounds too official and he's still living with his ex. Plus, it's been a while for him.
"O - okay. Yeah." Castiel agrees, and neither of them is able to look at the other.

Kylux iwanttospeaktoyourmanager AU where Hux is a Karen a Kylo is a manager.
"Is that so?.." Hux snorted "Then i want to speak to your manager. Right. Now."
Poe smiled amused.
"As you wish. Ben! A customer to you! Now. Good luck. I have work to do."
"Outrageous." Hux hissed on him.
"Well. What seems to be a problem?" He heard a deep voice behind him.
"A problem? You staff is a problem! Their attitude is..." He cut himself. The man before him was taller. Broader. Younger. Had Tattoos
"Well how can i help you?" Hux caught a gimps of a tongue piercing. " and please remember that without my staff you wound't be able to buy anything here. And i have work to do, so speak or leave. I don't have time for customers who can't even respect my workers."
"You insolent brat!"
"At your service." Kylo shoot him his best smile. And it left Hux speechless with his mouth open in a wide O. Poe snorted behind the counter.
"My foot will never step in this shop again!" Hux hissed and marched out. Kylo leaned on the counter watching him.
"Don't worry. He will be back tomorrow."
"Why would i worry about some... "
"He is your type. Hot. Red. Bossy." Kylo snorted. "He is here every day. Always promising that he won't come back again. Sometimes i just annoy him for fun. We are the only café that sales tarine in the city."
Ren laughed amused but it ended abruptly.
"Dameron. "
"Hm.?"
"Annoy clients for fun one more time and you will be the one who will never come back here."
"Yeah. Alright. Noted. "
"Ring me when he will be back. "
"Ha! He IS your type!"
"Get back to work!"

Y’all ever thought about what would Mishanks be like high? Well I have and I wrote a thing about it might finish later.
Here’s my snippet of Mishanks and the rest of the red force higher then kites and twice as blazed!
—————————
Shanks giggles, a full-body thing he could feel buzzing through his bones and out into his skin, holding it there vibrating between the space of his cells and the world.
Long and slow and languid, he pushed his hand up, up, up to frame the midnight-black sky, as if his fingers could trail through it like a reflection on still water, like the calm belt when it was clear and slow and devoid of sea kings and paddles rowing.
He rolled his fingers, tried to push them up further, forgetting for a second he doesn’t have another hand to help. Snorted at his own memory's displacement of losing a fucking arm, traumatic that was, but can’t find it in himself to worry with the way the night sky, the black blanket, winks down at them. The deck of the Red Force—his Red Force! And If he could grin wider, the thought alone would split his face— pressed up against his spine, held the vibrating muscle and fat of his joy, sunk the shadow of the mast over his legs, like the weight of the air itself wasn’t enough to root him in place forever here. Like contentment and love and joy weren’t enough to make him stay on this ship forever and never touch port again.
You don’t realize what’s gone till you don’t have it. And Shanks would kiss the adam wood of her figurehead, would marry the white of her sails if he could and wasn’t already married in turn.
But fuck it, he’s the figure of a paramilitary militia, feared throughout the world, emperor-pirate of the seas, and captain of this ship; he can damn well marry who and what he wants to, thank you very much.
He closes his eyes, lets his hand flop and grasp the idea of marriage hard so it won’t slip through the crashing waves of his world, how his heartbeat takes every other thought and washes it away like his mind's a sandbar, his ideas the sand.
Turning, he squishes closer, tucks his face into the side of Mihawk's wondrous neck that smells like his aftershave, sharp and lovely. How he missed this smell, drowns in it for a second, lets it wash him away. But the water reminds him of the thought of the idea, and he snaps forward, slow, so very slow. The world is warm, pressed under him and against him, and through Mihawk, he feels the ship rock. But priorities, and once he’s asked he can go back to the tingle of the air in his lungs, to the vibrations of his giddiness.
He opens, starts an "ah, ah," but stops, confused—feels his tongue, long and cotton-dry, run over the roof of his mouth. How to speak? What are words? Can’t he simply will his thoughts to be known, for the rocking to eke out morse code into his husband's mind? But no words. His name? How to say his husband's name?
“Mi-mi,” … good enough. He gives himself an A for effort. And the effort rewards him with a hum low and deep and a question in the noise. A win if he’s ever heard one.
“Mi-“ he tries again and again loses his thought to his husband's shift, the slow sigh of his breath, and he shuffles them closer. Shanks thinks to stop altogether, to imagine them melding and molding into one being, one heart. But is pulled out once again by Mihawk's face pressing to his cheek for a kiss. Right question, then priorities.
“I have a uhh—question! About… fughk fughk ummm hmmmm.” Ok, but what was the question. He smiles past his giggles again because his brain is hilariously forgetful, and isn't that just a laugh, like the ship and the sea and the world around them.
He laughs. “I forgot.” Feels Mihawk snorting in response, which sends him into another peal of chuckles because Mihawk, giggling? Perish the thought!
“This is wonnnderfull.” He says because his tongue's working now, and he thinks he should take advantage of that while his manifesting for telepathy is moot at the minute.
“Sure are enjoying yourself, it seems.” Comes a voice far away, not in his and Mihawks combined vibrations, not in the space between where their atoms are melding into one another like clay or ‘cheese.’ Fuck—he wants cheese. He wonders if him and Mihawk would have a good flavor profile together? He thinks Mihawk would be a Gouda.
“How much is in this batch, Hongo? Like damn, is it laced.” Oh, he said the cheese thing out loud, well, he did just find his voice. His brain must be deciding to use it now.
“Ah- may have started them on too high a grade, makes sense in hindsight,” a pause, Shanks feels it ripple through the deck knowing that mouth is taking a pull of something by the slow, almost quiet inhale.
He follows it, holding the cold of the night breeze in his lungs and waits for a burn that doesn’t come before they exhale, nothing on his end— together. “-they’ve been sober for a few months now, their usual tolerance is… lowered.”
“Ok.” A voice amused, warm, and familiar says as it lifts itself closer and over him, “no more for you.”
Shanks frowns, feels like he's losing something—something good, and makes what's supposed to be a grab that inevitably turns into a wiggling flop as the joint passes over his and Mihawk's bodies.
“Ruuuudddee, that was our turnnnnn!”
“Well-“ says the voice, still amused, and Shanks isn't, thank you very much. If he wasn’t currently liquifying into his husband, he’d let them know. “-I’ve got the joint, so it must be mine now.”
And that’s stupid. That's not how rotation works. It's illogical and frankly illegal, in Shanks' opinion. This is mutiny; this feels like a mutiny, and he’ll make it an order. He’ll tell them to— He goes to speak as another wave washes his sandbar clean and sends his mouth back into his husband's neck. What comes out instead is-“you’re stupid.”
Petulant, slurred, and whiny as he digs deep into Mihawk's warmth. His husband barely stirs beneath, not even a hum, and Shanks' arm, dead weight as it is, flops and wriggles its way under his shirt.
“Whatever you say, captain.”
And the voice is now as smug as it is amused, and Shanks can feel his anger light and airy as it burns out into his own amusement. It’s funny from a different angle, like most things if you look at it right.
He thinks Mihawk's asleep now, the slow exhales and rhythmic thump thump thump of his heartbeat rattling them both, the small rumble of a light snore that makes Shanks smile feel like it’s going to slide off and join the wood of the deck or plop right onto Mihawk's shoulder, and that wouldn’t be such a shame for his mouth to be stuck to for the rest of his life; there were certainly worse places.
"Mi-mi?" he asks again, full and lost and distant in a world still spinning. There's no reply aside from another shift and fingers moving up the ladder of his spine to settle around the back of his neck at the pressure point of thought and death.
They dig, and for the spark that is them traveling between the milliseconds of their beings, it feels like a ship coming to port, like two pieces clicking into perfect shape.
And there is so much, so overwhelmingly much, that he loses the shape of how to put it- Shanks wants to shrink the world to shorten the distance between them and everything that they want, he wants to love this man well and be there when he needs him. He wants to kill every world government lackey and benefactor and watch what they can do with the world free. He wants to unfold this memory infinite times until it extends out like a tendril from the spiral of their galaxy—
“-I want to suck your dick so bad.”
There’s a pause. The world and Shanks’ are suddenly horribly aware that he’s very-very astronomically fucking high. And once again his brain who is taking a slow and languid melt down south has decided to speak word vibrations out loud.
It remains silent before a laugh. It’s cracking and deep and husking like wind spray, cigar smoke, and Mihawk's aftershave. It rattles up him to his core, shudders along Mihawk's fingers, and sends him into tickled giggles as well.
“…Ok, time to get Twiddle-haze and Twiddle-blazed to bed.”
“Nooooo—“ Shanks whines. Thoughts of Mihawks dick momentarily put to the side in favor of complaining—beloved and fellow companion to his forty years (damn, he’s getting old) of bullshit and unfair treatment. His warmth, his rock, his Mihawk who he’d deeply, slowly, most-likely clumsily like to rock, is untangled from the matter that is him.
That as of five consecutive seconds ago, was him— in the way that their molecules had become one, in the way the ship rolled, and the sky was black and infinite, in the way the world would always deny them peace, he goes to struggle and fumble and push against his saboteurs towards enlightenment and discarding of the self for something greater.
All that’s to say is he fails to slap— who he has now realized is not in-fact a mutinously annoying disembodied smug voice but infact Benn, with his non-existent zero amount of hand for six seconds before realizing and immediately flailing for his jaw with his right palm instead.
————————
Anywho that’s all I’ve got for the moment, if y’all have any other Headcanons send them to me I love expanding upon my own! @mega-ringsandthings-world this is all your fault! I love you!

Eri, Awry: Chapters 1 to 5
Preview for Chapter 6.
(Hawks POV)
She’s alive.
The girl from the Shie Hassaikai mess. Kidnapped by the League. Missing for three months and counting.
Eri.
That’s good. It’s great, it’s fantastic. The child - whose photo had to be a facial composite, because there existed no images of her, hidden as she had been from the world, once, then again; whose abduction had Heroes from every part of Japan on alert to find even a hint of her location, so that Hawks kept an eye out even from Kyushu; and the failure to recover her (not even a body, and Shigaraki Tomura had a disintegration quirk) was such a demoralizing weight on everyone’s heart—
She’s alive.
…Celebrating her 7th birthday.
[...]
Hawks notes: the child is flanked by two of the League members, Toga Himiko and Bubaigawara Jin. They have one Liberation Army guard a few feet away, scanning the party participants.
(Sako Atsuhiro is here too, but he’s on the other side of the room performing magic for a small crowd of people Hawks suspect is only watching out of politeness and obligation for one of their new leaders. Where the rest of the League is, Hawks has no idea. Not even his feathers have picked up any clues so far today.)
Eri is opening gifts with help from Toga and Bubaigawara, both their enthusiasm exceeding the actual birthday girl’s own demeanor.
Eri’s appearance is clean and neat, dressed in a long-sleeved yellow dress that looks expensive. Silk chiffon and lace, probably. She is small and thin, but not skin-and-bones. Not counting the long-healed scars the Shie Hassaikai has given her that he can see when the sleeves of her dress rides up sometimes, she’s got no bruising or burns or cuts. None that are visible, anyways.
In short, Eri looks… okay.
What do you have planned, Shigaraki?

Christian Grey has always appreciated the finer things in life.  Luxurious home, top of the range car, Cristal, 25-year-old scotch, the works. A man of his status and wealth should have a standard.  Including the right woman.
Alexandra Richards was that woman.
He stared at the woman next to him as Nate drove, Walker beside him.  He watched as she wiped an errant tear that fell to her cheek.  She kept her face to the window, studying the country side as they drove.  She didn’t bother asking where they were going, they would never tell her.
“Pet, would you like some water?”
“No, thank you.”
“Alexandra, you need to eat or drink something.”
“Not if I want to die, Mr. Grey.”  Her tone remained even, never looking away from the window.
Grey grounded his teeth, wanting to force her to drink.  But he waited, allowing her emotions.  She was different than his pet from before.  She was strong, independent before.  Now she was despondent, fragile.  A mother.  She was in mourning for the loss of her son.  He would try and change that soon but for now, he needed to break her and change her back to the woman she was.
His Alexandra.
Tumblr media
James watched from the doorway of his sleeping son’s room, observing his little body as it curled around his teddy bear.  He knew the sleep was from exhaustion, having to have explained to his son that his mother wasn’t going to be here for a while. He was a momma’s boy through and through.  He closed the door softly and back into the empty apartment.
Steve was still tracking Alex.  He almost laughed to himself again.  He went to their bedroom and to his side table.  He lifted the necklace from its place.  The duplicate he had switched in Alex’s jewelry box was damn near perfect.  Either she had noticed and didn’t say anything or she was losing her touch.  Either way, the switch had allowed a tiny tracker to be embedded with her.  That’s why Steve was on the hunt.
After searching for Zemo at his home and secondary office, it was painfully clear that he had been the mole for some time now.  It was too coincidental that Walker had found Alex so quickly. The APB was out for everyone. All he could do now was wait.  His phone went off.
Stark: He’s still tracking.  They’ve almost made it to Tahoe  Barnes: ok   Stark: We’ll find her  Barnes: I know.  Just bring my son’s mother home to him.   Barnes: Bring her back to me
James laid down and clutched her pillow.  It still smelled like her.  Of strawberries and roses, of her. Finally, twelve hours after she disappeared, he cried.
Tumblr media
Alex jolted awake as the car slowed to a stop.  She looked around in the darkness, unsure of where she was. She could make out the outline of trees in the moonlight but after that, she had no clue.  Until she turned to see a house. It was out of a movie.  Stark white, wrap around porch with large windows.  Nate and Walker were already out of the car and walking up while Grey was studying her as she took in the home.  “What do you think?”
“It’s a beautiful home.”  She wouldn’t lie.
“Good.” Grey gave her a smile.  “I built it for you.”
“For me?”
“You had a house, similar to this, in that notebook you used to have.  Your journal.  I found it after you left and wanted to have something ready for you when you came back.”
“I didn’t come back.  You kidnapped me.”
“You left voluntarily.”
“To save my husband and son.”
“Your husband?” Grey sneered.  “Your husband is nothing compared to me.”
“My husband is a thousand times the man you will ever be.”
Grey reached and grabbed her by the hair, and she squealed in pain.  “Listen to me Alexandra.  You are mine now. You made your choice.” He pulled a little harder and she whimpered.  “I do miss that sound pet.”
“Please, stop.”
“No.”  He opened the car door and dragged her out.  She screamed and thrashed but Grey gripped her arm.  “This is your home now Alex. Let’s get you acquainted.” He pulled her up the steps.  She had no time to take in the interior as Grey marched her up to the master bedroom.  “I have clothes and toiletries in the bathroom.  There is nothing sharp or poisonous in here so don’t try.  I’ll be back.”
Grey slammed the door closed and she heard a click as she was now locked in the room.  She sank to the floor and cried.
Being a MIT graduate should have been something that Grey had factored into his grand scheme.  There is always something sharp or poisonous in everything. After crying, Alex got to work, taking the plastic toothbrush and using the counter to sharpen it. She just had to get past the door, and she could fight her way out. She hoped Nate would help her at some point, but she couldn’t count on that.
Keeping her crude tool close, Alex decided to inspect the rest of the room. The windows were locked, meaning the only way was to break them, attracting unwanted attention.  Clothing in her size were in the drawers, no strings on any of them. Slip on shoes negated laces. Bastard really did think of almost everything. She heard footsteps coming and she hid the toothbrush under the pillow.  She sat against the headboard, as far away as possible.  The door opened revealing Nate.  Alex let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding.  “Hey Nate.”
“Hey Allie Cat.”
“That’s a new one.”
“Had time to think about it.”  He went to sit on the edge of the bed, but still blocking the door.  “I told you to run.”
“And I told you that I couldn’t abandon my family again.”
“Were you always this stubborn?”
She shrugged.  “Probably.  But we were usually on the same team.”  She studied Nate.  He looked tired, worn.  “What is the plan for me Nate?”
“The plan?  The plan.  Shit Alex, you should know the Boss by now.  He’s gonna want his pet back by his side.”
“That’s not going to happen.”
“He’s gonna try and break you Alex if you don’t do it willingly. This is why I told you to run.  But no, the great Cat Burglar had to do things her own way.”  Nate started to pace.  “Fuck Alex, I tried to protect you.  I found you three times before he sent Walker.  And he only sent Walker when that fucker Zemo ratted you out.”
“Zemo?  Zemo is yours?”
“Not mine Alex.  His.” He cupped her face.  “I’m sorry.  I’m only up here because Grey asked me to try to convince you. Just give in.  Save yourself.  If only so that you save your son, your husband from any more pain. Please Alex.”
“I can’t,” she whispered. “I love my husband and my family. I need my family Nate.  I need them just as much as I need you. Please help me.”
He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “I wish I could.” He stepped back. “I’ll do what I can for you.  But unless by some miracle you are found, you are his.”  He turned and left the room, locking it as he went.
It was deathly quiet now. And a sob was ripped from room as Alex began to wail.
Nate walked back downstairs, trying to ignore the sobs that were now being ripped from her chest.  His best friend.  Well former best friend after his act of betrayal.  He made it to the living room and walked past Walker and Grey.  He reached the bar cart and poured himself a drink.  He needed to feel numb now.
“What did she say?” Grey asked, looking up from the papers he was studying.
“That she wants to go home to her family.”
Walker let out a sadistic laugh.  “Kitty lost her claws. What a little pussy.”
Grey glared at Walker until the man’s face fell.  He snorted. “That’s a shame.” He looked up at the stairs.  “Let her cry it out tonight.  We start tomorrow.”
“Start with what?” Nate looked at his boss.
“Breaking her.”
Tumblr media
Steve could hear snippets of the conversation happening in the home.  He peaked in to see the three men sitting and talking before the one with the drink threw it back and slammed it down, exiting the room. Steve picked up his phone.
Rogers: found her  Stark: thank god. She ok?  Rogers: no idea. Security tight no clean entry or exit  Stark: fuck. Ok. I’ll reach out to local  Rogers: roger that.
He looked around and saw the guy who left angrily now standing on the porch, hand on the railing, head bowed.  The man shuddered like he was trying to keep his emotions in. “Fucking Alex, why doesn’t she listen?”
“She does that.”  Nate swiveled to look at Steve.  He went to reach for his weapon, but Steve drew first.  “Whoa there, sunshine.” Nate slowly raised his hands. “I think you and I are after the same thing.  To help Alex.”
Nate cocked his head. “You’re Steve.”
“You must be Nate. If I lower my weapon, we cool?”
“Yeah.”
Steve holstered his weapon. “Can they hear us in there?”
“No, but better safe than sorry.  Garage in the back. Meet you there in five.”  Nate went back inside.
Steve made is way around through the woods.  He waited behind until Nate called for him. “How is she?”
“She’s scared and probably planning to do something stupid.  She’s Alex.”
Steve huffed.  “Yeah, typical.  Look I have reinforcements coming but it will take until morning to get them here.  I need to know how I can get in there and rescue her.”
Nate sighed.  “You’ll help with my case?”
“For Alex, yeah I will.”
Tumblr media
James was awakened by his phone a few hours later.  He reached over, the bright screen hitting his eyes causing him to squint.
Stark: He found her  Barnes: She ok?  Stark: status undeterminable but I’ve sent locals to help  Barnes: give me the coordinates.   Stark: sent. I’m coming with.  Be there in 10
James called Natasha.  “We found her.”
Oh thank god.
“I need you to come stay with Drew.”
I’m on my way.
James got his gear together as well as some stuff for Alex.  He crept into Drew’s room, his boy still sleeping peacefully.  “I love you Chief,” he whispered.  He slipped Alex’s necklace over his head.  “You take care of this for me and Mommy, ok?”  He kissed his head and walked out.  Nat showed.  “The documents you might need are in the safe in our closet.  Combo is 03-10-19-17.  We left some stuff for Drew when he’s older.”
“Bucky…”
“I’m gonna do everything I can to bring us home but just in case.  Please take care of our boy.”
Nate hugged James hard.  “Be safe.”
Stark knocked on the open door frame.  “Ready?”
“Ready.”
Tumblr media
The sun hadn’t risen yet when Alex was awakened by the door opening.  She held still. “Pet?” Alex reached slowly under the pillow for her toothbrush and gripped it tight. When she sensed him close, she swung, the sharp point she created cutting the skin on his arm.  “Fuck!”
Alex rose and swung her leg around, dropping him as he gripped his forearm to stop the bleeding.  She ran to the door and down the stairs.  She could see the front door but was grabbed around the middle.  “Let me go!”
“I see Kitty did have her claws,” Walker said in her ear as he adjusted his grip.  “And now I get to play with the Kitty.”
Alex paled as she was held in place by Walker as Christian walked down the stairs, a towel on his arm.  “Let’s get her to the garage.  I don’t want to make a mess in the house.” Walker pulled her out and marched her to the back of the property.
Steve and Nate were there in the shadows, waiting for the backup promised to Steve.  It was getting close to dawn when Steve heard the cries of his best friend.  He watched as Alex was dragged into the garage. “Shit. We have to get in there.” Steve and Nate both moved to pull their weapons.
A gun cocking behind them caused them to freeze.  “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Steve didn’t have time to turn before the butt of the gun hit his head and he was knocked out.

Hey, if you're looking for a well-written itafushi fanfic, with beautiful world-building, hints of satosugu and nfsw, my recommendation is "we should just kiss like real people do" by faeriedoyoung and solarsenshi
Seriously, this is one of those works that you read just because you have ITFS in relationships, but in the end it turns out to be one of the best things ever found on AO3.
The scenes are richly written, with an enchanting mystery and mythicism, a concept that is both obscure and poetic. Seriously, I read this without being able to blink because I was so involved in the story. I'm so curious about this universe and Satosugu and Itafushi's own destiny.
Trust me, this fanfic will be a great read if you give it a try!
Summary:
Some things beneath the earth are meant to stay there—others are meant to be dug up and feel real once again.

I'm in the middle of writing a Doctor Who Star Wars AU one-shot about Twelve and Bill and thought of ANOTHER SEPERATE 12 and Bill Doctor Who/Star Wars idea. Hear me out:
Bill's Twelve's granddaughter and the two of them are living life, trying to get by while ignoring the rapidly growing First Order. As a child Bill gets separated from Twelve, taken by the First Order and turned into a Stormtrooper. Twelve spends a really long time looking for her but is ultimately unable to find her. Meanwhile Bill grows up under a new "name" (some sort of serial number that looks like Bill) and new identity with no memories of her previous life.
Every other detail is so fuzzy right now but they definitely get reunited. I think they're both trying to find each other at the same time. Bill slowly starts getting her memories back and looks for Twelve, with the help of another Stormtrooper who chooses the name Susan, and Twelve gets a lead on where Bill might be and starts the search all over again.
