Day 3 - at some point the vongola 10th squad will move to italy, lbr. Question is: what is rhe BIGGEST culture shock for the japanese boys? What ia the thing Dera and Lambo will miss most about Japan? Anything anyonw will have issues to adapt to or adapt to again?

I actually think that me and you have talked somewhat about this before! At least, the fact that I really don’t think that the Vongola 10th move to Italy full-time. The TYL! Arc was still set in Namimori, where we see a strong Vongola presence in Japan. We kind of see that a lot of them were off and doing their own things. Chrome was in France, along with Chikusa and Ken. Yamamoto had said he was off and playing baseball, and to be doing so at 24/25, I like to believe it means that he was at least able to go semi-pro, like he’d hoped in his younger years to do so. It’s said that Ryohei was visiting Italy to see Lussuria, and that combined with the photos on his dresser and Hana’s dresser, leads me to believe he divides his time in between different places and that he still spends a good chunk of time in Japan, albeit it I don’t believe he lives there year-round either. Hibari is so devoted to Namimori, it’s a huge part of his character, that I do not see him being willing to move full-time to a foreign country. On top of that, Tsuna’s Vongola Neo has broken literally every single other rule around Mafia life, for the most part, that I don’t think they’re going to follow some old-fashioned rule about needing to live and operate exclusively in Italy. There’s just a lot of inference, in my personal opinion, that lends itself more to the idea that Tsuna’s Vongola operates on a more global scale. Hell, if the right people were to find their way into the story in future arcs, I could even see the reach of the Vongola extending past Italy, past Japan, and extending into many other countries, though I don’t think it will be Tsuna’s goal and more something that just kind of happens.

With all that being said, I’ll do my best to answer the question, really just focusing on what the biggest culture shocks were for everyone when they first visited and what they had the most trouble getting used to, whenever they spend any amount of time there.

Tsuna really struggles with just how much more pressure he feels whilst in Italy. Whenever he is in Italy, whether it’s a short visit or a longer stay, there just seems to exist a pressure that he doesn’t feel when he’s back in Japan, with his Guardians and those that he’s gotten to know since his teenage years. In Italy, more people seem to know him and those that don’t seem to suddenly kowtow and treat him with a respect bordering a little on fear at times as soon as they hear the word Vongola in relation to him. Those left over from Timoteo’s time as the Vongola boss all seem to have great expectations from Tsuna or expect him to largely be something he’s really not, even though they have all had literally years to realize that Tsuna does not want the Vongola to continue the way it always had prior to this. There’s just a lot of stress, anxiety and pressure that he feels whenever he has to spend time there that he’s not really fond of. Plus, with all the stress and anxiety, on top of the difference in his diet while in Italy, he always struggles with stomach issues while there.

For Yamamoto, the biggest culture shock is really just getting used to how grand everything seems. Namimori was kind of a sleepy little Japanese town where most everyone knows everyone else. He’s used to knowing all his neighbours. He’s used to just casually chattering away with the elderly folks. He’s used to a specific type of architecture. Italy? Nothing at all like what he’s used to. It really hit him, the scale and grandness of some of Italy’s architecture, how big the country really is, how just…different…everything is on that first trip he took there with Dino back as a teen. Despite knowing in his mind after that what Italy can be like and that it is different from Namimori, the fact still really hits him each and every time he goes there. To him, there’s just something old and grand and cultured about Italy and while he loves it, it also kind of makes him feel out of place at times.

Gokudera doesn’t really experience much in the way of culture shock when it comes to returning to Italy. He spent too many years of his life there, so he knows what it’s like. He’s accustomed to it and every time he returns, he just kind of slips effortlessly back into the customs and culture of the place. He not only has that going for him, but I also don’t see him as being someone who is prone to experiencing much culture shocks. Any time he is going to be travelling to someone new and unfamiliar to him, he spends a lot of time researching the geography, interesting locations, history, and culture of the place he’s going to. He learns social customs and taboos. He’s always been kind of a nerd when it comes to researching in that it’s something that makes him happy, but this kind of research also means that he feels pretty well-prepared for exploring untrodden ground.

Ryohei? His biggest culture shock moment, and the thing he finds hardest to adjust to, is definitely the currency system. He’s spent his entire life using Japan’s currency system. He knows the yen. It’s all he knows. So switching to the euro and remembering how to convert a yen to a euro on the fly? It’s really, really hard for Ryohei, who isn’t the best at math-based things to begin with. It kind of hurts his brain and it’s going to take him at least a solid month before he becomes at all comfortable with it. Even then, he’s still going to prefer what he’s grown up with and is the most comfortable, and frequently encourages his Italian friends to champion converting their country’s currency system over to the yen.

While Lambo might have spent the first four to five years of his life in Italy, enough to have pleasant memories of it, he has, for the large part, grown up in Japan. He’s spent most of his formative years in Japan. He’s no more fully steeped in Italy’s culture than an Italian-American who goes on their first trip to Italy to ‘discover their roots’ is. It also doesn’t help that a lot of his memories are from such a young age, when they’re hazy enough that he doesn’t remember what was make-believe and what was truly real. Because of that, he is definitely prone to culture shock. The biggest one that gets him is the food culture between Japan and Italy…honestly though, he’s not complaining. While he’ll miss Nana’s home cooking anytime he’s in Italy for long stretches, he’ll find he’ll go back to Japan and really end up missing out on some traditional Italian dishes that he routinely had while there as well.

Hibari experiences less culture shock then you would expect. It’s mostly because, when he travels, which we’ve been shown he does with startling frequency (he’s been travelling as an adult when we see him in the Future Arc, he travels to various places to train with Dino during the ring arc), there’s explicit reasons and purpose behind his travels. When he’s going someplace new, someplace outside of Namimori or even outside of Japan, he’s doing so for one or two explicit reasons and those reasons are all he cares about. He doesn’t want to sightsee. He doesn’t give a shit about the culture or immersing himself in it. He can speak the language (sometimes only crudely, but enough to carry on basic conversations), he can figure out where he’s going, that’s all he needs. It’s really tough to experience culture shock when you don’t care about the culture, when you just want to accomplish something and leave the country.

Mukuro really doesn’t experience a lot of culture shock anytime he’s in Italy. It’s got nothing to do with whether he’s from there or not originally, as I know there’s some differing opinions on that, but more to do with the fact that Mukuro travels the world. He’s not someone who stays exclusively in one location constantly and has no experience outside his home base. He likes traveling and he’s someone who honestly finds a lot of fun in learning about the culture of a place before going there. Some of his ideas are definitely very misinformed and based on popular media, but he does his best to learn the language of the area and at least the broad strokes of culture. He doesn’t really get ‘culture shock’ because he’s throwing himself into the culture, getting as immersed in it as humanly possible, whenever possible. The new experiences and the differences in how societies function intrigues him instead of confusing him.

Chrome’s biggest culture shock the first time she was in Italy? Just how physically affectionate Italian’s seem to her. To her, compared to Japan, they seem very touch-focused and it’s something she really, really doesn’t like. There’s a lot of amazing things about Italy in Chrome’s mind, but that’s not one of them.

Normal and Sane KHR Merch Haul (it's mostly Hibari btw)

It's been a while since I posted and gushed about the merch I've been getting, and I received a lot since then (esp with the recent Ju/mp Fe/sta) so I'll just combine them all in one post! (this is a long post bc of my yapping, ignore the texts if u just wanna see the pics dkdhdkdb)

The first one here is Hibari's Pri/maniacs perfume! (displayed with the Hibari nitotan nui for size comparison 🤣)

Credits and a very loud eardrum shattering shout-out to @amiahoshi for translating the product description for it and for always saving my life from shit MTLs 😭💜✨🫂 That TL gave me doki dokis hahahahaha helphdhdvfhvdf I'm way too deep into this, I'm beyond cooked 🤣 (I'll just make a separate post for the TL!)

Though honestly, it's kind of a dumbass decision on my side to buy perfume in the first place because I get nauseous from most of them. Not to mention, since this is a flammable item, it's extra costly to buy them from JP.

But surprisingly, when I tried smelling it, it's kinda okay? (or maybe I'm just coping since he's my oshi) So in the end, maybe it's not that much of a dumbass idea to buy this after all.

I won't be using it regularly because every drop of this is gold 🗿💸 and I don't go out often anyway. But maybe when I attend certain occasions I will. I'm almost tempted to buy a second one (one for display, one for use???...das crazy...shut up Ein, have mercy on your wallet)

Next one is Ill/egal Factory Studio's TYL Hibari figure! This one's an unofficial merch btw, but it looks so good that it's definitely worth it! 😭🙏✨

It's quite huge, the product page says the height is around 37cm (at least taller than a regular ruler?). It even came with this really nice-looking photocard and the box looks so good too (which I'm keeping under the desk because I didn't wanna throw it away).

Now, I'm praying for GSC to release an official figure for TYL Hibari. Right now, we do have his Nendo 2.0 coming up, so I'll just be waiting for updates on that one.

Speaking of GSC, I also got his Nendo (1.0) some time last year! The poses are so cute, I'm glad Hibird is with him in this! 🐥💜 (for the GSC Pop-up Parade figure it's here)

This reminded me, I should buy a BJD body for this so I can buy custom clothes for him 😈😈😈 That also means custom nendo for a certain other blorbo hehe 🍎 That'll be another project for a different day and post.

In terms of figures, I'm still on the look-out for the G.E.M. figure (where he's wearing a suit in a dynamic pose ft Hibird) and Ill/egal Factory Studio's Varia Arc Hibari (ft him obliterating Gola Mosca *chef kiss*). Just need the right timing (+ right listing), since I'm doing 5D chess budgeting over here and losing lots of braincells 😭😭😭 PRICE GOUGERS/SCALPERS WHEN I CATCH YOU!!! 🤬🤬🤬 WHEN I CATCH YOU!!! This stupid mf says as she buys their shit anyway. Sorry, I'm part of the problem. I buy the less price gouged one at least???

This Nendo also came with a bunch of free Shikishi boards from the Hikokuji set! 1 x Tsuna, 1 x Hibari, 1 x Dino, 2 x Mukuro, 2 x Xanxus, 2 x Squalo and 2 x Bel. I gave the dupes to my brother (the ones with dupes happened to be his faves lol), so here are the ones left with me (the extra Hibari one is already in my shrine).

When I rearrange my Hibari shrine, I'm thinking of also setting up a general KHR(e) shrine so I can display them there.

Anyway, here's the whole package I got for that batch of shipment!

This includes merch from the Am/ano Aki/ra Exhibit plus Vol 2 of the KHR x San/rio Collab merch. I really love the Sanrio merch they're releasing (it's just so cute! 😭💖 H.K. & H.K. duo, you will always be famous to me) so I make sure to at least get the acrylic stands from Vol 1 and Vol 2. But I spectacularly failed for Vol 3 (it's a lottery, I was so depressed that time I forgor to buy pulls...), so I'm at the mercy of the JP marketplaces again for this and the prices are making me fall to my knees.

For the Am/ano Aki/ra Exhibit merch, I was actually a bit hesitant to buy this tbh because I was planning to personally attend at their last location in Nagoya, so I might as well just buy it there? But plans fell through so I went ahead and bought them. At that time, I thought Nagoya is the last one but apparently there are plans to continue? So if there's another one later this year, then I'll make plans again to finally attend. I just need someone to go with me! Even if I already went to JP before, I feel like I need to go a few more times with someone to get used to international travel 😭 (also I'm slightly a workaholic perhaps, I feel guilty when I take time off work)

Here's the tapestry at the upper-left corner by the way! (plus some other ones I have) It's in-between the two blankets I got from that one auction that got me sweating a lot and almost gave me high blood pressure.

It's so worth it, I wake up to this every day 🤣🫶✨ I adjusted the display from the left pic since then, to make space for the new one in the right pic. (My room has zero windows, so I had the curtain rod installed there just for this purpose ssjdhvfjhsvf the things I do for my oshi...tho I think it's easy to tell how small my room is from this wall, I'm struggling to cram all of these in there fr fr)

Next up is my copy of the KHR's English Dub by Diskotek! I honestly haven't watched it yet because I keep forgetting to buy the Blu-ray External Disk Drive 💀💀💀 I should really order one soon, I'm very curious about how they performed.

Then, after that is my haul from Anpanic's listings! I happen to come across it within like 10 minutes of them posting it, and I never zoomed in on someone's Sho/pee link so fast hahahahaha Anyway, I was fast and managed to grab most of the Hibari-related ones.

And I'm so happy they even included me some freebie Knights (En/stars) merch!!! 🥹💖✨ They probably noticed that my pfp in Sho\\pee is Leo hehe 🥰🥰🥰

I also got merch through The Vongola Hideout too! My favorite from this is the handkerchief showing Hibari feeding Hibird some takoyaki! 🥹💜✨ I've been looking for it for a while now and the ones I've seen before are so overpriced. My other fave is the fish Reborn I caught for Butter ahahaha it looks so funny, I love it so much 🤣🥰🤣🥰 I didn't know this merch existed helpsdjfshjf

Besides those, I got a bunch of CCG of not only Hibari but for my dearest girlies as well 🥰✨ Please look at them!!!

And I really just wanna put the spotlight on this particular card with Kyoko and Ryohei!!! Specifically, this very rare expression for Kyoko-chan awawawawawawa IT'S SO GOOD!!! SHE SLAYED SO HARD!!! I REALLY REALLY WANTED A COPY OF THIS BC OF THAT AND NOW I HAVE IT~😍😍😍

Finally the last ones is the recent batch I got from FJ, which includes the merch sets from the recent Jum/p Fest/a! They were actually two boxes, but one got stuck in Customs due to the holidays, so I have two packages arrive at the same time in the post office lmao

Here are the misc ones I got too! The Ryohei and Reborn ones are what I got because they're in a set with the Hibari chibi gashapon (will be gifting them to my friends too). Then the Fran photocard is an Ani/mate freebie, and I gave him to my brother.

Not many general headcanons make it into my work because I tend to write about specific concepts, so this was fun!

I love all interpretations of the XS timeline, but I don't think they were together during the story's canon. Post-canon and I can see an argument for the TYL arc. Extremely dubious on anything pre-cradle affair.

Xanxus is absolutely the jealous type, but he won't address it in a practical way. He's known to cling to his possessions, right?

On that note - Dino, count your days.

Xanxus is very much into Squalo's hair. If he can touch it, he will, whether that's a pleasant touch or not.

Besta likes Squalo the most after Xanxus himself, and will try to smother him and kiss him, which Xanxus ignores like he's getting paid for it.

It's a private relationship, for several reasons. Not many people know about it, and if they do, they're not going to comment on it lest they want to part ways with their face.

Except for Luss, of course, who bombards Squalo with dumb questions when they have downtime, none of which are answered. That 101 battles was ROUGH.

No pet names other than the usual insults that probablyyy count as pet names. But don't tell them I said that.

Xanxus runs warm because of his flame (why he can run around half shirtless), and Squalo runs cold (why he wears fur and coats and earmuffs all the time!) The ideal temperature equilibrium for cuddling.

This is canon, but Xanxus is overall calmer when Squalo is around HQ.

Squalo finds Xanxus' scars attractive as they relate to his rage, but he wouldn't mention it because of the sore topic. If Xanxus ever lost control over his scars in a sexual context, well....

Squalo has had feelings for Xanxus since the beginning. He must've been pretty convinced things were going to work out, huh? When you know you know etc. etc.

Xanxus has some Avengers level threat internalized homophobia. His whole complex is over being heir to the Vongola, and part of that role is having a family and children, so being with a man would be really hard for him to comes to terms with. Also, the stereotypes of gay men that he'd be acquainted with go against the persona he's made for himself.

In effect, it's really hard for him to be openly affectionate. Queue glass throwing and hair pulling.

SAME TANGENT because I see this way too much but these two could not be a casual FWB situation given Xanxus' complex.

Okay so this is based on the inheritance ceremony where Timoteo is a little bitch to Squalo for no reason. THOSE TWO BEEF LIKE CRAZY IN THE MOST PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE "IN LAWS" WAY POSSIBLE. Squalo obviously dislikes him because he ruined Xanxus' life and is dismissive of the Varia as a whole, Timoteo dislikes him because he thinks he's trying to get with his son and go against what a right hand man is supposed to be.

If there's one thing that's going to fluster (fluster!?) Varia Captain and Sword Emperor Superbia Squalo, it's going to be Xanxus. Squalo never expected to get this far, so when he spends his life in respectful admiration and is suddenly getting bombarded with what would otherwise be normal couple behavior, he doesn't know what to do.

Xanxus pretends to be unaware of the effect he has, but definitely knows and extorts it because it's cute

Hello! I am doing quite okay ahaha, I fell ill right at the beginning of the year and that actually explains my return to writing just a bit bc I had 0 energy for anything else. I just sat and wondered about the nation's husband here for a bit, so apologies if some of these are kind of a stretch!

♡ Misc. Dino Cavallone Headcanons ✧

He went from having a fear of horses to becoming a horse girl. I like to imagine that his parents may have had an interest in riding (or that the Cavallone family literally fixes horse races for shady $$), so there would be these huuge beautiful top of the line horses at their personal stable.. however, he was absolutely terrified of them and was too afraid to look them in the eye, much less ride one, until Reborn forced him to face his fear; He's fallen on his ass and been kicked in the face more times than he can count, but as he slowly learned that horses were just big skittish animals that needed to be treated with love and respect, he began to love riding and working with horses and down the line earned the nickname "Bucking Horse/Bronco".

Dino loved the Barbie movie, he is extremely Alancoded. And his all-out cowboy barbie outfit (lowkey Reborn made him do it) drew too much attention at the theatre, to the point that some kids were calling him Ken and asking for photos. He ✨served💅 the public that day.

I refuse to believe that Dino was an only child and he turned out so well?!? He's extremely older-brother coded, I would bet my life that he has at least one younger sister or half-sister (though arguably Tsuna is his non-blood brother) that he just doted on until idk she prob kaboomed and wasn't used as a plot device

He's a tall man, has type O blood, he should be donating it because he's such a good person, right? He did once! He passed out and is a little nervous about going back again.. to think that he has a whole tattoo sleeve..

Some of his tattoos are actually coverups!? He never planned to get a full sleeve, but needed to cover up some shitty flash he got in his younger days. He decided to get something bolder and flashier to cover it, but then the rest of his arm being bare just bothered him.. so he added elements until uh oh, it's a full sleeve that goes all the way to the back of his hand. Despite being a pretty boy his entire life, he seems like the type to have had some img issues and regrets with his initial tattoos (he got them just bc he thought it would make him cool and tough), covered them up and felt like he looked too shady.. and then learned to love them and embrace them as art. He likes the asymmetry of how heavily inked one side of him is, and is considering a big ankle/calf/thigh and maybe a hip piece on the opposite side leg to balance it out, but he's a bit nervous about the pain (I giggle). Omg what if the skull and flame neck tatt is matching with some of his men (theirs are in different spots) after a particularly drinks-heavy party night*.

Sometime between the "present time" of the KHR timeline and TYL, he adopted a shorter haircut and learned how to style it from Reborn! They got more time to reconnect as Reborn became less busy with shaping Tsuna into the "perfect mafia boss" or whatever and began to lengthen the kite string gradually.

Dino is a total softie at heart, and has moments where he cut people slack that other mafioso, especially older bosses, would not have. His men love him because he is strong and they know his heart is right, but whatever softness he had in his early 20's he had to shake off real hard as time went on.

Because of all the mental and physical work it takes for him to do his job, sometimes he wants nothing more than to be babygirled for once, and literally nobody knows but just maybe Romario has an inkling.. the sense that it may be the case.

Knowing how popular is (in certain parts of the fandom) the ship without the girl in the middle, and taking into account that canonically the only thing mentioned in the Future Arc would be “TYL! Rio is married to Dino and they're expecting a child” it would probably go somewhere along the lines of:

“Dino only married her out of obligation. He’s in a position where he needs a wife and an heir to keep appearances but in reality, he's totally gay for Kyoya. If they fight it's not for her attention but for the fear the other might like her instead of them.”

What do you imagine the most popular ship(s) for your character would be? Are there ship wars?

As you can imagine from the previous answer, ship wars could become as intense as in other fandoms (/absolutely not/ looking at Nar-to), between the supporters and the wildest antis who just want Rio away.

The ones who don't take sides on this matter or don't act like heartbroken teenagers would try to calm the war down with comments like “Pls chill?? Ship and let ship?? You're not letting the rest enjoy our time here.”

Fact Ask Game: Deianira, my love lorn, axe wielding Varia OC, originally had long hair pulled into a high ponytail. However, upon meeting Dino, she became enthralled with his hair and told him she as going to steal it. Dino was uncomfortably unclear from their encounter if she meant she was going to copy his style (which she did) or try to shave his head. He didn't sleep well for a week afterwards, and this may have been the impetus for him to change his hairstyle tyl.

One time when Maxi was so pissed at his Mum for being overbearing and smothering, he dyed his hair bright blue in protest. When Val first saw the change she froze like a deer in the headlights, caught off guard and mad about it. She actually got quite frosty with Maxi, not because he was acting out but because she thought that Dave somehow managed to get to her son with his hair dyeing ways. (In fact Dave didn't switch out Maxi's shampoo or convince him to dye his hair, Maxi simply listened to his mother rant about Dave being a brat and drew the conclusion that him showing up with dyed hair would piss his mother off lmao).

They'd known each other since his academy days, so what made it so awkward after all these years? Dino hadn't exactly faced his feelings yet and honestly he wasn't sure what it was that he felt for the shark woman, but something about Squaletta had drawn him in since they were younger. She was attractive and strong and he knew a lot of other men had their eye on her, but he wasn't about to let someone else snatch her up, not Xanxus, not another boss, no one.

Was it love? possibly. At least from Dino's end it might be. He didn't know how she felt for him or if Squaletta had feelings at all for him. She was always rather rough in general so he couldn't blame her if it wasn't romantic. Dino always was a pipsqueak to Reborn, and a loser to so many with how clumsy he was, she could certainly find a better guy, right? Over his dead body.

Perhaps it was just jealousy in his eyes, or maybe because he felt other men would never be good enough for her, but Dino couldn't stand the thought of someone else taking her from him. She wasn't property, he'd kill someone if they treated her like that, so why not let it be him to treat her right? Dino was a loser to begin with, why would she even look at him as attractive?

Why did he care anyway? There was one little fact he'd overlooked and tried to deny this entire time. He wanted her and he wasn't ready to say it. Maybe the next time he saw her he could get up the courage to say something, but for now Dino would invoke the Omerta on his love life and wait until the time was right.

Reborn would be a smart idea because of how he successfully raised two other heirs-- but ... his tactics... no... please no. I'm a sensitive banana. I'd die.

Dino has a good temperament, a good reputation, is skilled, and would be good networking- but I FEAR that Hibari would catch wind and be like 'oh, a new student? Let's see how strong you are'. Translation: 2 students is a crowd. DIE.

I'm such a weak-willed banana that any of them could probably kill me. Fon likely wouldn't- but he wouldn't make a good tutor for an heir to a mafia lbr. Iemitsu... /derogatory

Anyways.

Probably un unpopular answer, but: Gokudera. He was born into the mafia life, and has lived in it. Yes, he's young and for a lot of his younger years, he was more a lone wolf as no mafia would accept him, so you could argue even he's got a lot to learn- BUT!!!! he does tend to veer towards history and logic when teaching people. He also employs actual demonstrations- which is more my style of learning. He's incredibly smart and I think he'd have the ability to adapt to the style that his student needed.

As the right hand, he'd learn a lot about the inside machinations of the innerworkings of the mafia. I truly think by TYL time, he'd known a lot and probably could tutor. Would he want to? No. Would he have the time to? Probably not- but that wasn't a part of the question prompt to think of such logistics.

I at least think he'd be respectable enough for political reasons to not kill me. He may be a bit rude and crass, but he does care for people to actually learn. Out of everyone, he probably has the best chance of teaching me in a way that suits me and I MIGHT actually survive as heir.

Okay, I'll also admit that it's also because I really like Gokudera's seiyuu and I'd 100% focus on class because wao that voice.

But Neo- Mukuro knows so much about the mafia world, he could totally teach you-- HISS!!!!!! HISS!!!!!!! I don't trust him!!!! I'll die from stomach ulcers first!

Just got an idea out. Tsukine is originally a khr oc and I gave her a flames I made which is moon flames. If she has one of the sky flames it'll be either mist or cloud based on her personality.

This wip is her using one of her abilities :3 I kinda got the idea from lenalee lee from dgrayman :3

Actually I also have another khr oc cause I want an oc paired with dino xD haven't drawn her and I still don't know what she looks like and she is Actually tsukine's cousin ahahahahhah

I made her hair more curly this time! I'm also thinking what her tyl self looks like too :3 I want her to have a bit different hair style but still have her hime style hair
