As mentioned, he lives in the tree with his parents and grandma.

His parents have always been adventurous and that’s likely where he gets his need for adventure from. Sometimes when the sun starts to set his parents venture to the top of the cage, looking out over the town. They mark things, make maps of the place and only come back down once the dark has made it too hard for them to see.

Dory always asks them what they can see up there and if he can see it one day- his parents always respond by saying “one day”.

Finding ways to pass the time, he enjoys singing to himself. That’s what he always does when his parents go up to explore

Anyway, once he turns 14 his parents decide that the time was right and they planned to escape. They told Dory they’d come back and that he should trust them so he did.

He’s been singing for a lot longer now.

does Elias like to read? any recent favorites?

Elias enjoys reading quite a bit, migraines permitting! Despite everything else, they were taught the basics of reading and writing as a child, and used it to keep themself entertained on their own.

When they were a kid it was mostly books about exploration and travel, places outside of their room. Fantasy, real accounts, mythological, anything about different places or different lands. These books take a lower priority since they've come to the Neath however.

Nowadays Elias enjoys the gothic genre, a fan of the monsters and monsterous. Of course, this also includes the writing of a particular close friend of theirs, though these are read quite privately. Elias is prone to blushing, and they read enough smut for it to be an issue.

Besides that, Elias enjoys reading non-fiction about subjects that interest them. Moths, colours, chemistry, and they have a particul morbid fascination with gorey medical anatomy books. Anything they can get their hands on about Curators as well, though this material is exceptionally difficult to find.

Elias also enjoys reading aloud to friends.

OK so, ignoring the fact they're all literal royalty, which household chore would each of the main four (Casander, Dahmia, and the brothers) be the best and worst at?

Casander would be best at cooking & just awful at organization

Dahmia would excel with organization & suck at anything that involves standing up/walking around for long periods of time (chronic pain ! She’s really really toughing it out in canon)

Elio would be great at laundry, mostly bc he likes pulling it warm out of the dryer. Getting him to fold it is another story. He’d be terrible at anything to do with food

Arche would excel at deep cleaning. Getting in all the nooks & crannies. Would likely be bad at anything involving a farm where it’s like. Very dirty and not just dust dirty. He would refuse to get anywhere near it

yes, definitely! i actually have a folder of these called “the stills that got away” lol, i’m hoping to revisit them sometime. been thinking about incorporating that into the project somehow.

8. Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?

I think Shaw’s learned to shoot in the Neath, largely for self defense purposes. He’s not the most nimble guy in a city where jumping people is a sport, but he doesn’t use a gun often. His first target was probably a few bottles scattered on the edge of the docks… and then some poor member of the Black Ribbons.

44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?

It’s not particularly hard for Shaw to say ‘I love you’, but it’s not a phrase he uses flippantly. If you’re someone he deeply cares about then it’s not hard for him to admit that, & he’ll admit love in both romantic & platonic relationships somewhat easily. In general I think he prefers other ways of showing it, but those three words wouldn’t be difficult! The man is fundamentally ride or die for the people he cares about and he’s rather open about that fact, to an extent that might be surprising if you only knew him casually.

I don’t think he could ever say it without meaning it on some level, though, unless he was undercover. That’s something special, to him at least.

I think she's unlabeled! I think she super hates labels after having them put on her for so long, and she doesn't like to be tied down to a specific Thing. She's definitely a girl kisser though (looking at you, Penny)

Yes, actually!! It floated between bisexual and lesbian for a bit.

Constance and Penny were talking about a date they'd gone on and Ricky walked in and overheard. He was cool about it, obviously, she'd already known Penny had a big crush on Constance.

12.) The hardest person to come out to?

Call me cliche, but I'm gonna say Ocean pre-cyclone. She was very worried about how Ocean would take it, considering Ocean was her closest and sort of only friend at that point in time, and Ocean had the power in school to ruin her if she so wished. To clarify, I don't think Ocean is homophobic in the least, her parents are weedsmoking hippies who've probably had their fair share of gay lovers (in my head), Constance was just worried from a "we're in a small town and you could absolutely ruin me if you so wished" way, because while Ocean wasn't homophobic, per se, she was a bad friend.
