bunni speaks — WE BACK and with partial written chapters! i'm not great at writing fluff so bare with me... also i have a bit of writer’s block… so please be kind to me… i’ve wrote this like last week but was really beating myself over it but i decided to just post it…

ONE MONTH.

just one more month before soobin was going to see you in new york. was he ready for it? not exactly. probably far from it actually, but one thing was for sure is that he wanted to see you.

there isn't really a day that goes by without him calling and messaging you. the two of you actually started this thing where you'd each send a series of random photos taken throughout the day while the other was sleeping and it’s not helping him calm down his feelings for you at all. he saved every single one of those photos and put it in an album on his phone to look back at on. he loved imagining you taking each picture with him in mind.

now, this new routine has him developing a bad habit of looking at his phone first thing in the morning. soobin knows he read some sort of article about looking at your phone first thing in the morning isn't really good for you but science didn't account for the feeling of waking up to twenty notifications from the girl you like. waking up to your messages gave soobin profound excitement for the day. his eyes could barely open but his first instinct now was to look at his phone and see what photos you took. his favorites were the ones where you'd take your outfit of the day in your full length mirror in your bedroom or maybe the ones of you posing with your food.

you’ve asked him about his great face reveal and soobin felt bad about not showing his face because you actually asked him a lot about it... to the point where you concluded that he was ugly as a joke. a joke he finds no joy in hearing as he defended his good looks to wits ends.

but you were too deep in your feelings that you were pretty sure you would be okay with however he looked.

i mean, if he was a total predator... you'd definitely reevaluate, but soo was not that. you think.

"are you working from home today?" soo asked you over the voice call.

"yup! i just made breakfast. wanna see?" you asked as you wiggled your bowl in front of the camera.

god, you were so cute.

"let's see. let's see."

"it's just cereal," you laughed, "they had the txt cereal at the store so i grabbed it for funsies since i'm seeing them next month."

"oh, right. haha."

every time txt came up in your conversation, soobin definitely started thinking about revealing the truth and the guilt that came with that. he still isn't sure how you'd react. would you feel betrayed that he didn't tell you? or would you be happy? what if you just leave the restaurant after finding out? or start blackmailing him for having a fan account?

okay, that last thought went a little wild side, because you wouldn't do that. he knows you wouldn't, but his mind definitely wondering about what you’d think about any of this. thinking about you being mad at him and leaving him was probably the worst scenario he could think of. he could already feel someone digging into his chest with a tight grip on his heart from the thought of you hating him.

"damn, okay. i know it wasn't that funny but you could've reacted a little," you joked.

"ha. ha. ha.”

" you’re so annoying…”

soobin laughed with a quick apology and lame excuse saying he was distracted.

you rolled your eyes but accepted his apology anyway. “well, how was your day? you're in japan right?"

yes, txt was doing their japanese comeback before the start of their world tour. but to you, soo was simply on a work trip.

"yeah, i am!"

"how is it?" you said before taking in a spoonful of cereal.

"busy... but fun. my team had a few work events today and i'm so tired," he said.

he was really downplaying his 'work events'. he had a group interview, magazine solo interview, a photoshoot, and to top it all off, there was the music show and fan interaction at the end of the day. he was beyond exhausted but still wanted to talk to you by the end of all of it. although, he didn’t really want to talk to you about work.

"did you want to turn in early? we can always talk in the morning for you," you offered, but you could already hear him grumbling.

"no, just another hour... i couldn’t even talk to you this morning."

oh, were you weak. you weren't going to say no. absolutely, not. you know, he didn’t say that he needed to talk to you everyday, but for him to basically imply that he couldn’t go to bed without talking to you once today almost sent you into a coma.

"oh, uh, yeah, okay, one more hour and then you go to sleep,” you stuttered, thinking you really played that one off.

"right before i forget… japan. did you want anything from here?"

and immediately, your ears perked up.

"oh, yes if i can ask you to look for a few things! i have a list," you bursted out into a fit of giggles from the thought of you being able to get your hands onto anything you got on this anime list.

"you... have a list?" he sounded as if he was judging you.

"hey... it's not as accessible here in america," you pouted, "leave me alone. you want my list or not?"

"give me the list," soobin smiled and you could hear the endearment in his voice.

"also, with all due respect, shut up. i know you got a list. you just wanted to judge me," you fussed.

"hey! that's not true!"

it most definitely was true (to both him having a list and him judging you).

that's alright though because while you were forging your annoyance, you were trying to calm your heart down from imagining this man scouring through the streets of tokyo in search for your most wanted anime merchandise.

𖤐 ⤸ ₊ ִ ˚ ࣪ ˖ MIRAGE is a group that consists of five members that is managed under KQ ENTERTAINMENT. the quintet is well-known for being kq’s first ever girl group, and the company’s first act since the debut of the boy group, ATEEZ. the company initially planned for the group to be rap-centric, but many potential candidates for the final lineup showed that this would be hard to accomplish. so, with their final debut in february 2020, the lineup ended up featuring nari ,, eunae ,, xepher ,, nako ,, and arin as a k-pop act with no officially confirmed positions — only ones given by fans. the group’s debut mini album, LUCID DREAMING : LEVEL1, was a viral success online due to the group’s catchy choreography and intricate visage thanks to the video direction of the tracks, BLACK MAMBA, LUCID DREAM, & NEXT LEVEL. as their name + lore suggests, their concept explores illusions, time traveling, & also displays a battle of resisting temptation with a sound that never remains in the same genre per comeback.

mirage was originally meant to be managed under DOOMSDAY RECORDS, a new subsidiary label from kq that would be launched with the group’s debut. but, the new label was scrapped in order to ensure the new group had enough funding to present eye-catching content in the future. aside from 3/5 being main lyricists, the group is 85% fluent in english, and often add not only english versions of title tracks but also original songs for international fans. they’ve been releasing english songs since their second comeback, presenting listeners with the b-side RE-LAPSE + english versions of their songs WANNA-BE and A LITTLE DIFFERENT. other english songs (both variants and originals) include STARLIGHT ,, TIPTOE ,, LOCO ,, LOVE ME / LEAVE ME ,, & THE HAPPIEST GIRL. due to their popularity around the world, there’s speculation that the group will release an english project before a japanese one.

the group is known for a unique lineup for a multitude of reasons, but the biggest one of all is due to their third youngest member (1999) being the group leader — this is because the oldest member and los angeles-born, nari, was born in 1996 & is also one of the oldest artists under kq. xepher was crowned leader not for her training time, but for being the company’s first female trainee with leadership qualities. when counting the longest training time, former PLEDIS ENTERTAINMENT trainee + maknae, arin, started in early 2013 and was on produce 48 prior to joining kq in 2017.

the members were revealed without further announcements in age order, they were called the KQ GIRLZ (the female version of KQ FELLAZ, a traditional pre-debut project) before their official name was confirmed. the lineup caused a lot of commotion, as it included eunae, the younger sister of former PENTAGON member, jihun, and the former TOMORROW X TOGETHER member, SOUL. before txt, soul was one of the original kq trainees that were supposed to debut in ateez, but ended up getting signed by BIGHIT ENTERTAINMENT. she participated in only a handful of promotions for THE DREAM CHAPTER: STAR before dispatch exposed her newfound relationship with yuto from pentagon. she was already heavily disliked by most from the very start due to being the only female, and multiple sources predicted that after the downfall of GLAM many would try to sabotage her career before it had even begun. though bighit is rumored to cover up potential scandals of other artists before the public finds out, soul’s was not one of them. it certainly did ruin everything ahead, it would completely destroy her reputation + relationship with bighit — so she left both the group & company, disappearing from the public eye from may 2019 until february 2020. desperate to complete mirage and solidify a lineup, soul was signed back into kq despite her scandal & re-debuted under her birth name, nako. since returning right after eunae completed her training, both girls would become the final additions to the group’s roster.

Tbh this makes me really sad because;

1. Actual album/comeback when?

2. I’m really angry that ENHYPEN and &TEAM are so unequal. ENHYPEN is far more well known and successful in general kpop right now, but &TEAM really ought to be more successful - their concept has been far more consistent and solid and their music more cohesive and imo, better. I’m sad for &TEAM because they don’t get the recognition that they deserve and I’m sad for ENHYPEN because their epic concept has been pretty much thrown out the window.

Not to mention all the other issues, like HYBE just generally not taking advantage of their dual concept properly (why is Sunghoon part werewolf, not Niki who’s Japanese? Why is EJ, a Korean, not part vampire? Why is Nicholas not some separate species? Why do the groups have uneven numbers of members and barely interact? MAMA collab stage when? 😩😩😩😩😩)

Seriously Hybe are just throwing away the cool concepts all of their groups have. No more super powered ghost BTS. No more animal TXT. No more angel Le Sserafim, and very little in the way of wolfishness and vampirism from &TEAM and ENHYPEN.

all of the groups i am writing here have comebacks upon concerts upon comebacks upon concerts. ALL THREE!

enhypen has fate+ and is going to have a comeback with memorabilia. txt finished tomorrow's promotion and is on their way to doing act: promise and having a japanese comeback at the same time. ateez finished performing at coachella to announce that they're having a comeback and also have a tour after the promotions to it ended. AND YALL DIDN'T BAT AN EYE?! gosh

to say that the 7-year exclusive idol contract is cruel is an understatement. even ateez who is in their 6th year as idol hasn't got a one-month-long break cmiiw. like pls let them rest...

i literally can have a whole discussion on why it's better if kpop idols do world tours after releasing full albums because the repetitiveness of the set list is also ridiculous. fuck hybe and kq for making all three of them do tours after releasing eps cause ughh

treat them like you want to be treated, not like they're fucking robots @ management. there's a reason why txt likes the idea of having cloning and stamina-based superpowers cause THEY ARE TIRED FFS. and i hate that the fans are also complicit in making them tired and pushing the members to still be positive to do work by buying concert tickets...

Hi OMG my favorite groups there's a lot but SHINee is my ultimate favorite like their my first grout that brought me into K-pop and I cannot go a day without playing their music 🥹 but I really love exo my most listened to with SHINee. Then Tomorrow by together (txt) they are neck in neck with SHINee, day6 I loveeeee them so much, loved their comeback. The Boyz!!! I saw in person actually amazing live😭. OH ATEEZ I saw them on tour as well literal beasts on stage another ultimate group for me like guerilla live was an outer body experience that I will love to relive over and over again. Seventeen, bts, 127, dream, enhypen, monsta x, 2pm, oh a Japanese rock band called one ok rock AMAZING DISCOGRAPHY I highly recommend luxury disease one of my favorite albums ever!! And Got7 can't wait for their reunion after military is done!! P1 harmony I mean the bsides the title tracks are just impeccable 😫

'Medusa' MV First Reactions

Guys, I have a secret. I was wondering why I liked JUST B. This is a common problem I have - in between comebacks I wonder why I like a group - do I really like ATEEZ? Do I really like TXT? SEVENTEEN? ENHYPEN? Are they really that good? It only happens with boy groups which is kind of funny.

But every single time those groups have a comeback, I remember instantly why I like them. And 'Medusa' was no different.

I LOVED THIS. It filled my heart with joy and I was so happy and proud to see them performing like this and to see how their budget has got bigger (or, maybe it hasn't but they just got better at using it well). The only thing that would have made it better would having Sangwoo be involved too.

I think the song is amazing, and it's got some nice links to their previous storyline. They aren't hitting it as hard as they previously did, for whatever reason, but a lot of groups tend to lose their storyline over time and then come back to it - BTS, ENHYPEN, TXT, etc.

That said, there were still some great references and visual shortcuts they use, so let's talk about it!

So you know how last time they started exploring the real world after escaping? Um... well, it doesn't look like it went very well for them, does it? Let's just say that.

Also, while Naneun had lots of people - a bright city, cars moving by, some people walking in the streets, implied people in a cosy cafe, etc, Medusa has no one. The transition from a nice paved road in Naneun to a dusty dirt road in Medusa really reminds me of every apocalypse movie ever, especially things like Mad Max and The Maze Runner, or just... any zombie movie. For some reason it also reminds me of Stephanie Myer's The Host, but please don't hold that against me.

Anyway, let's just say that, as the description reads, this MV very clearly follows on from Naneun, showing a downfall and the need for the boys to work together to overcome it. It also uses motifs both from the 'JUST B' series and their new one.

Alright that's enough of DY just lying there - let's move on.

Moving camera is a nice visual shortcut for change and transition/a journey. Very JUST B themes.

For those wondering - I think this was shot in the US, not Australia, since I'm pretty sure we don't have cacti like that in Aus.

Okay, nice. The hollowed out train car which has become a visual shortcut in kpop for loss, destruction, isolation, and so on (See TXT Sugar Rush Ryde Japanese ver, BTS Spring Day, that one LOONA member's solo). Along with this dance move it definitely gives this MV a poignant and tragic atmosphere.

Very apocalyptic.

Bruv that is such a cool shot. It really gets the apocalyptic everything-is-falling-apart idea across.

The gas mask is also really simple visual shortcut for this, but it makes me ask what they need the masks for - zombies? Covid? Something else?

Or it could just be a metaphor for their voices being silenced in DAMAGE...?

Arm bands have become a common symbol for leaders these days in kpop.

Also - train tracks which represent a journey - but walking along them is often a hard and dangerous one. I like how we can see the telephone poles in the distance but no civilisation - it hints that there may have once been a civilisation, but not any more.

I love this part of the song but I have no clue what Geonu's glasses are for except for looking cool and apocalyptic.

NVM y'all they're his high-tech surveillance goggles to make sure the people from DAMAGE aren't going to get them again.

I know that the drone can be a symbol of surveillance and them fighting back against the people who hurt them, and that the cars are a symbol of a long journey and so on, but I have been questioning every single comeback how this random group of brainwashed orphan kids got their hands on some nice cars, quadbikes, and drones.

This section at 48 seconds has some super cool editing. I didn't even notice there was a cut here.

Trains - another symbol of transit. For some reason, freight trains always still go during the apocalypse. This is THE ONLY other hint we get of humans in this MV. The train is usually shorthand for a civilisation that they either need to take down by sabotaging said train, or that they need to join by joining said train. I'm thinking joining by the fact that there is no train-blowing-up in this MV.

Why does Bain have a plant baby in the middle of the apocalypse? Also, I think this is the first plant we have ever seen in their MVs - showing that, despite the apocalypse, there is still hope - although it's fragile and needs careful looking after.

Holy moly he phased into another reality - or, kind of. There are a few options here; 1) a flashback, 2) an alternative timeline/butterfly effect thing 3) in a time loop 4) a dream.

But whatever it is, he still seems to have some knowledge of his reality since there's still no water.

This suggests to me that perhaps the apocalypse came about because of some 'The Lorax 2012' situation where the government sells and restricts access to a necessity, leading to... well, the apocalypse and anarchy.

What are you all shocked for? Wasn't it obvious this would happen?

So, initially I thought they were being brainwashed here, but since it's the red pill, perhaps this is what releases them from their dream state when they're still in a relatively normal world (sans water)?

I'm not sure what the sign says - but I think it's 'hotel' - another symbol of transit and journey. And also potentially a place of danger (ahem, psycho, ahem).

Literally how did they get such a nice looking car? Did they murder someone? Anyway, good on them for planning something, I guess.

So notice here that there are other people, but we're still in the populated and relatively bright city - the dream world, most likely. Hence, their plan must be to escape this world.

The sign reads 'Rosslyn Hotel' The Rosslyn Hotel was a hotel in Los Angeles in 1923 which was notable for its massive glowing neon sign. It was later transformed into low income and homeless housing - so it really has become in a way, a symbol of transit, journey, and hardship.
