NRC Sister School Rant #2

I am disappointed to say that my TCC First Years would absolutely kidnap Yuu.

Let me explain.

Hedana would be the first freshman to know. How? She's a fan of Vil, niece of Divus and just an innocent girl who could do no wrong! Of course she knows all the gossip in both schools. Most likely is somewhat acquainted with Yuu and definitely talks to them out of pure curiosity.

Pure curiosity turns a bit deeper.

This is a magicless human, in a school where half the student body can easily hurt them. She finds it interesting and a bit pitiful. Basically is 'could not be me'.

Until she figures out what Yuu actually goes through with their financial status.

Feels annoyed. Will start spoiling Yuu a lot. Mainly because they just remind her of a constantly kicked puppy and if there's ANYTHING Hedana has learned, is to never hurt a puppy. (the cat, on the other hand...that's a bit debatable)

Mauve is the second to know of the Prefect. She needs to know everything about her dear brother's new target, after all. She initially sticks with Prefect, because Azul has practically RUINED his first impressions, but hers are still clean.

She basically just revels in the fact that someone who has seen her brother at his worst is constantly seeing her at her best.

Mauve is a lot touchier than most, constantly dragging Prefect around or fixing their makeup or clothes or hair. Mauve essentially acts like a sassy older sister to Prefect, without realizing it.

Forms a stupidly nice bond with Prefect and keeps them out of trouble with her charms and smooth talking.

Nessa is a hedonistic cat. Seeking out things merely for pleasure or amusement.

And Trickster was so interesting.

Almost dying a couple of times, yet still kicking it.

Nessa is still a cat, though. She doesn't truly trust Trickster, at first. But, after some time and space, she finds them comfortable to be around, sleeping near them or pulling a Leona and using them as a pillow.

Nessa sees them as her property a lot of the time, willing to scratch FLOYD, of all people, to keep Trickster.

Now, these three all have one thing in common.

They are absolutely capable of kidnapping.

Plus, also really good at batting their eyes and getting WHATEVER they want.

They're like the mean girl group of the freshman.

It starts off small.

Just stealing Yuu for a couple of hours for a manipedi.

Then it escalates for a day as a sleepover.

And before you know it, Yuu is rooming with Nessa, getting free food and snacks, having warm showers everyday and able to talk/rant about their feelings in a safe circle.

Basically, heaven.

Yuu has now become a (PLATONIC) harem protagonist, and is NRC going to explode because of that.

I don't know why the fandom is having such a hard time picturing Azul having a little brother based on Morgana from the second Little Mermaid movie. It could totally work in canon!

Let's break this down for a second:

Azul's parents are divorced. He was raised by his bio mom and his step-dad.

Azul says himself that his step-father is "the father he respects," which could mean that he has absolutely no contact with his bio-dad. He wouldn't know what he was up to or if he had other children.

Azul's bio-dad could've also been a cecaelian (octo-mermaid) and had another child, or he could've been a normal mermaid who got with another octo-mer after he divorced Azul's mother.

Heck, maybe that was the cause for the divorce in the first place. Maybe he had an affair and destroyed his marriage himself. Or if you want to go a bit deeper, after their marriage fell apart for whatever reason, Azul's bio-dad wanted to recreate the family he lost and got with another cecaelian woman and had his little brother.

This point, in particular, could be a reference to the popular theory that Morgana was Ursula's half-sister. Same mother, different fathers.

The theory goes that Ursula was the result of an affair Triton's father, the former king, had with an octo-mermaid. Such a scandal would bring shame upon the royal family, hence why Ursula lived with her mother away from the prying eyes of the court, but it would also make sense why, in her youth, Ursula still had ties to the castle and lived there from time to time (according to the movie).

A few years later, Ursula's mother had another baby girl with a normal mermaid. He wasn't anyone special like the king, with no royal lineage or special magic of his own, making Morgana "unremarkable" in her mother's eyes. Or maybe their mother truly loved this man, and the relationship didn't work out, so she takes her anger and insecurities out on Morgana.

With all of this in mind, it's possible that Azul's bio-dad could resent Azul's little brother in some way, giving him an inferiority complex a mile wide, just like Morgana. He wouldn't stop talking about Azul and how great he's become, how his brother should strive to be more like him.

It was always: Azul this, or Azul that, or (INSERT NAME), why can't you be more like your brother Azul?

He would grow to despise Azul, his own brother, who he's never even MET. That's perfect angst potential right there. To add fuel to the fire, maybe little bro tried to reach out to Azul and connect with him, but their father sabotaged that somehow and made him think that Azul just didn't care.

Now you might be asking, how would Azul's bio-dad even know about Azul's accomplishments? Glad you asked!

Either A): Azul's mother is the only one in contact with him and updates him on how Azul's doing from time to time.

Or B): His bio-dad enrolled the Morgana stand-in in Azul's school by chance and heard through the grape vine that Azul became the deal maker non-technical crime boss he is now.

Or both. Honestly, both of these combined would push little male Morgana over the edge. His classmates hear the rumors about an octo-mer who granted devious wishes a few years back and are either scared of or really unimpressed by the little bro's lack of magical prowess.

The bullying and self-hatred haven't skipped a generation, and neither has the body issues. Instead of being insecure about being overweight, Azul's little bro is insecure about being way too skinny.

This went on way longer than I thought, but to wrap up: All this to say, if we got Jamil's sister, who is a reference to Jafar's twin sister from that obscure Aladdin game, I think it's plausible for Azul to have a brother.

grim being a selfish brat is the point of his character arc. when you're told to claw for your survival in a prestigious yet hostile magical academy, when you're told that the weak must obey the strong, of course you're going to make use of what little advantages are given to you. that means demanding your henchman to do your every bidding and taking any opportunity to prove your strength.

kindness, consideration, compassion, empathy - they don't have a place in NRC. or so it seems.

the great thing about him starting the story with an obnoxious and abrasive personality is in how he awkwardly navigates his first ever friendships. in the sweetness of the rare scene where kinship just clicks for him, where his boasts and complaints become banter, where he feels like he gets to belong, to have a home.

and there's something deeply tragic about grim too, the fact that he's going to be left alone when yuu returns to their original world. what will happen to his student status? will he have to move out of the ramshackle dormitory? can he make it through his studies without you at his side?

when the first person who gave you kindness leaves, what are you supposed to do? will you say goodbye or will you fight to keep them?

but is also mildly based off of Vanessa from the first movie and the fact that Ursula is based off of a drag queen.

as far as I’m aware Morgana is younger than Ursula? But Emerald doesn’t feel younger than Azul to me? Idk they might be the same age and emerald was just the one born after.

Anyways! he’s apart of the pop music club and is a fan of rock music

he also has his own little group based on Morganas side kicks that perform in the mostro lounge

in my mind hed be the lead singer of both but I’ve played around with him playing the keyboard or whatever other random ass instrument the pop music club could need.

and he does drag often! just for funzies idk he’s cis but prefers to dress gnc bc it’s fun for him bc he enjoys it and idk I love gnc men love myself

!!POSSIBLE KEYCHAIN DESIGNS (+POLL)!!

I need to start making income, (being unemployed is. Not good.) so I've drawn a potential keychain design and I'd just like some feedback on which designs are good/popular (if any lol)

I'm not too sure about pricing yet - if anyone knows a good manufacturer I can look into to get them made then please let me know (be it in an ask, a comment, or via DMs)

Beyond the Thorns's Cage

As long I was drawing Malleus and Morgana, I always wanted to do some illustrations based on the scene of Sophie kissing Hauru in his raven-man form, in Howl's Moving Castle. I have done some drafts, sketches and in the meantime Diasomnia's trailer came with the sequence where Malleus is emprisonner in a cage made of his owns thorns, as blots sumberged him.

I was just finishing the last details when Part 5 was released. With Silver's past and Meleanor's singing the lullaby based on the medley of Once Upon a Dream, the same that Malleus humming...

"Let's be together as I stare at yours eyes. Don't get afraid... even if we wake up from that dream..."

What's Floyd and or Rook's nicknames for them ?? :]<

to floyd jettie is shark pup / same no ko-chan. hes really mad about that but floyd does not give a shit LOL. jettie bites floyd floyd squeezes jettie for biting him jettie bites floyd for squeezing him and it's the worst cycle in existence. it only ends when floyd gets bored

rook calls jettie monsieur mercenaire (monsieur mercenary) because jetties an opportunist whose loyalty can ABSOLUTELY be bought. it also refers to his indiscriminately violent nature. jettie doesn't understand french so he kind of thinks rook is insulting him but the one time he bit rook rook said something ominous enough to make jettie willingly let go of him. probably about harpooning fish or something. so jettie doesn't bite rook anymore

to floyd marron is octosquid / takoika-kun. or devil squid / oni ika-kun sometimes if marrons being especially malicious that day. dynamic of floyd beinf like "woooww oni ika-kuuun! you've really got that sucker in your clutches ^__^" and marron in response is like "why, i really don't know what you're talking about, floyd. i'm just helping out a ... friend, no strings attached." marron tolerates being called octosquid but he's not very fond of the octo part because that's floyd comparing him to azul and. well. marron hates comparison. he's much more pleased to be called devil squid funnily enough

rook calls marron monsieur marionnettiste (monsieur puppeteer) because of the way marron controls people to do what he wants for him. marron's actually a part of the film studies club that rook participates in so rook's seen marron's influencing in action when marron's directing backstage crew. marron denies it of course and says he doesn't really understand rooks nickname for him but underneath he takes pride in it because it feels like his skills are being recognized
