Backstory: TW: light mentions of body shaming/(eating disorder)?, bullying + verbal abuse

Okay, so like, before she was born, Mama Ashengretto and her husband (idk Todd) got into this huge fight and Mama Ashengretto had enough. So, they started the process of divorce. It was long (mainly because they had a shared business and assets. The shared business was basically like a restaurant and live music performance) and by the time it was finally finalized, Mauve was already a year old, so she stayed with her mother till she was 3, then with her father till present.

Her and Azul used to visit each other's parents during the holidays. It was like Christmas and New Years, both would be in Todd's place, Summer Vacation, they'd both be in Mama Ashengretto's place.

But when Mauve was 7, her father decided to take his business to land, so they had to do a change of paperwork, so only Mauve was going to see her mother every holiday when she turned 10 (I don't think the potion that turns merfolk into humans would work on children younger than 10, soo...). But, before she turned 10, I'm thinking she stayed with Mama Ashengretto and her husband. Azul didn't care much, cause he didn't like Todd much and Todd did not like Mauve much.

During Mauve's 7-10, Mauve and Azul sort of bonded, especially since they were being bullied together. I'm thinking Mauve was really slim and people sort of made fun of her for it. She just didn't like eating much.

But after Mauve turned 10, they grew apart, especially with Todd sort of making Mauve help around the business a lot more. Like, she was the poster girl for the business (he made her eat a lot more, and took her to voice training classes, instrumental classes and dance classes), had a magicam account with over a 100k followers, and she still needed to get good grades.

She was practically thrown into a constant circle of stress and perfection at 10 and the holidays in the sea were her only escape (albeit, she still needed to practice, but her father could only call to tell her to practice + Mama Ashengretto would 'accidentally' ignore his calls, sometimes). This made Mauve a bit more isolated.

She'd come to the sea and shut herself in her room, only coming out if Mama Ashengretto/Azul pleaded (but Azul stopped the older they got).

It got worse as she was older. Azul began showing how competent he was and Todd was like "Why can't you be like your brother? I chose you, because I thought with the curly hair and all, you might have inherited more of my brilliance!" or some crap like that, which made Mauve cry the first few times in private.

So, Mauve worked harder and harder, even taking up a few more things like "Suikendo" and gymnastics to increase her flexibility for dancing. You know that one girl who's in almost every club and knows almost everyone? Yeah, she's that girl. Overworked and overstressed.

At the end of her first year in middle school, she was told by her principle that she was eligible for skipping a grade. She was so happy that she went to her father and told him the news. He was ecstatic, told her he was proud (for the first time in what felt like forever) and WENT STRAIGHT TO BRAGGING TO MAMA ASHENGRETTO ON HOW HE HAD THE BETTER KID.

Mama Ashengretto was absolutely proud (ignoring the stupid comment) and told Mauve how proud she was. Then she even told Todd that Azul got accepted to NRC. Todd was immediately shocked and begged to talk to Azul. Mama Ashengretto reluctantly said okay and put Azul on the phone. Azul is very indifferent but Todd is so excited, calling him "my son" which cringes almost everyone hearing it.

This just ruins Mauve's relationship w/ her brother even further.

When she's accepted into TCC, she's extremely proud and continues over working herself with being a waitress, server, manager (Alohi is the actual manager but sevens know that she's only there to boss people around. Mauve actually listens to complaints) and vice-housewarden at the Monstro Lounge. She even holds study groups for her classmates, asking for a decent fee which even attracts people from NRC, since she's 'less shady' than Azul (she's not, but she'll accept the title).

I first wanted to ship her w/ Jade, because she has mob wife energy, but I think she'd be the mob boss, herself?? Like, her dad is in some shady shit, so... BUTTT I didn't like the age gap?? Like, ik 2years and 19 days older is not much ig. 2 years is actually the highest age gap I'm most comfortable w/ (aside from 1 year age gap) but...ehhh...

Then thought her x Deuce would be cute? I think they met through Prefect. Like, instead of cheating in Book 3, My Ghost Prefect met Mauve who was more than happy to teach her for free if she'd owe her a favor. Prefect took the chance and actually got a good score. After Book 3, Prefect drags Adeuce + Grim to Mauve.

Ace and Grim don't trust her as she is "related to a snake", while Deuce is so nervous around her, because she's pretty.

Idk, love life is still kinda in the works.

She's also in Spelldrive Club, because despite her wearing dresses and embracing femineity, she's not afraid to kick some ass in any sport she can. Especially in a sport that involves something her brother sucks at.

Her and Azul's relationship is strained, because they both see the other as the better sibling. Like, Azul sees that she's extremely popular on social media and how even a few of his classmates ask him about her, PLUS she SKIPPED a grade! And she's better at him in sports!

Mauve, on the other hand sees how he's 'effortlessly' smart and doesn't have to study as much as her. How he got the nice parent AND step-parent. How he's better at Potions than her. How he STARTED A GOSHDARN BUSINESS. LIKE WHATTT???

After both of their Book 3, I feel like they become more open to each other about their envy towards each other and start to try and respect each other more. I think their relationship is somewhat closer after Book 7.

I watched the little mermaid sequel yesterday, and i noticed that the octavinele trio say that the can't come home for winter break because it gets icy :0 and morganas hide out is in the artic! do you think this is a refrence to morgana?

Mmmm... Personally, I think their home freezing over in winter is a little vague to be referring to Morgana's lair 🤔 By that logic, I think it could be interpreted as a depiction of any generally icy waters shown in a Disney film. I think if there were more specific details in there, like the Octatrio mentioning that the Sea Witch had a little sister who favored the waters when it was frozen, or even made a passing comment about how the area is frequented by penguins, walruses, sting rays, and tiger sharks (all important animal sidekicks in the film) this time of year, I'd be more inclined to believe this was an intended and direct reference. As it currently stands, I think it could just be a detail thrown in to conveniently give the Octatrio a reason to stay on campus rather than going home over winter break.

I also don't think that Azul's inferiority complex was inspired from Morgana; though the Twst boys are twisted from Disney characters, not every single facet of their personalities is meant to reflect those of Disney characters. I think Azul's troubles are his own and not meant to be inspired by a certain Disney counterpart, especially since the origins of his inferiority complex and Morgana's are not the same. (Azul was bullied and a single child; Morgana was constantly compared to her superior sister, Ursula.) The Twst characters aren’t meant to be carbon copies or amalgamations of Disney characters; they do take inspiration from them, but are, at the end of the day, their own beings separate from others.

While I don't think the devs intended for these details to be interpreted this way, I don't think it's wrong for you to interpret them as you did. We're all walking into Twst with our own unique perspectives, so we're bound to see different things in the art we consume.

A fan-comic based on the climax of Legend of Vox Machina season 1… More the Book 7 goes to the final confrontation with Overbloted Malleus, more I feel that I need to draw a crossover/fanart based on that particular scene of that show. When Vex’hallia take off Percy's mask as he possess by Orthax and his desire of vengeance, revealing his face, his true face…

Since all those years I always knew that Book 7 ending would be a big emotinal turmoil…

And I don't think to cut off his horns in order to stop him is the best solution and cure to save him!

It will only repeating History again ! The knight slaying with his mighty Sword of Truth the evil Dragon, or the Dawn Knight defeating Maleficia. Only recreate a tragic circle…

This time it is love and understanding that can save the day, no magical sword. Silver ( and in some way may be Yuu, and Malleus too) is the key to end the curse…

I know it’s the kind of line that can turn quickly to cliché but nothing is stronger than love and only that can heal wounds and a broken, lonely heart…

Anyway, this isn't her official intro, though I don't really know when I'll get around to it fr, but meet Morgana :3 Morgan or Mors (as she's known by Mattie, @screamintoad's OC above) for short. She's a twst of Megara, and a student at RSA.

She's dating Crow's other OC Zagarius and Idia :3 The working story is that she's been arranged to marry Idia, but fell in love with Zagger too, though it's subject to change.

I don't know why the fandom is having such a hard time picturing Azul having a little brother based on Morgana from the second Little Mermaid movie. It could totally work in canon!

Let's break this down for a second:

Azul's parents are divorced. He was raised by his bio mom and his step-dad.

Azul says himself that his step-father is "the father he respects," which could mean that he has absolutely no contact with his bio-dad. He wouldn't know what he was up to or if he had other children.

Azul's bio-dad could've also been a cecaelian (octo-mermaid) and had another child, or he could've been a normal mermaid who got with another octo-mer after he divorced Azul's mother.

Heck, maybe that was the cause for the divorce in the first place. Maybe he had an affair and destroyed his marriage himself. Or if you want to go a bit deeper, after their marriage fell apart for whatever reason, Azul's bio-dad wanted to recreate the family he lost and got with another cecaelian woman and had his little brother.

This point, in particular, could be a reference to the popular theory that Morgana was Ursula's half-sister. Same mother, different fathers.

The theory goes that Ursula was the result of an affair Triton's father, the former king, had with an octo-mermaid. Such a scandal would bring shame upon the royal family, hence why Ursula lived with her mother away from the prying eyes of the court, but it would also make sense why, in her youth, Ursula still had ties to the castle and lived there from time to time (according to the movie).

A few years later, Ursula's mother had another baby girl with a normal mermaid. He wasn't anyone special like the king, with no royal lineage or special magic of his own, making Morgana "unremarkable" in her mother's eyes. Or maybe their mother truly loved this man, and the relationship didn't work out, so she takes her anger and insecurities out on Morgana.

With all of this in mind, it's possible that Azul's bio-dad could resent Azul's little brother in some way, giving him an inferiority complex a mile wide, just like Morgana. He wouldn't stop talking about Azul and how great he's become, how his brother should strive to be more like him.

It was always: Azul this, or Azul that, or (INSERT NAME), why can't you be more like your brother Azul?

He would grow to despise Azul, his own brother, who he's never even MET. That's perfect angst potential right there. To add fuel to the fire, maybe little bro tried to reach out to Azul and connect with him, but their father sabotaged that somehow and made him think that Azul just didn't care.

Now you might be asking, how would Azul's bio-dad even know about Azul's accomplishments? Glad you asked!

Either A): Azul's mother is the only one in contact with him and updates him on how Azul's doing from time to time.

Or B): His bio-dad enrolled the Morgana stand-in in Azul's school by chance and heard through the grape vine that Azul became the deal maker non-technical crime boss he is now.

Or both. Honestly, both of these combined would push little male Morgana over the edge. His classmates hear the rumors about an octo-mer who granted devious wishes a few years back and are either scared of or really unimpressed by the little bro's lack of magical prowess.

The bullying and self-hatred haven't skipped a generation, and neither has the body issues. Instead of being insecure about being overweight, Azul's little bro is insecure about being way too skinny.

This went on way longer than I thought, but to wrap up: All this to say, if we got Jamil's sister, who is a reference to Jafar's twin sister from that obscure Aladdin game, I think it's plausible for Azul to have a brother.

And I have a lot of ocs, so ig I'll reduce it to my favorites/most developed.

Bree Rogers and Sandra Willion, would definitely spend it with their crew back at Starlit Island. New Years is definitely a sight in the island. All the ships set to see and shoot fireworks in the sky, some merfolk set out paper lanterns on the sea to follow and the more elderly fae are always granting blessings to the younger folk during this time. They both definitely take pictures and send it to all their friends as postcards.

Mauve Ashengretto spends New Years with her brother. But, the new years after Book 3, I think, she'll drag Azul and their mother (+Azul's stepdad) to see her live New York performance. I think the tweels might try to tag along, but she'd ignore them and focus on showing Azul+mother+step dad around the surface, also ignoring her father.

Ranadi Thanuris usually spends New Years with the Asims, since she is engaged to Kalim, so it's generally parties, loud noises and food galore. Her family is a lot more reserved with celebrations (New Years' Eve Dinner and fireworks, pretty much), so sometimes, she invites Kalim over, to save herself the headache.

Celine Quintopia spends it working, obviously. New Years is the best time to earn a quick madol. But, she works non stop during the day then spends the night with her 'siblings' just playing and making up stories and they light sparkers up along with outher neighbourhood kids. Their aunt goes out to parties with her rich friends, leaving them alone. She sometimes calls Bree or Ranadi or Ruggie for her 'siblings' to wish them a Happy New Years.

Casaleena Espinosa spends it alone, generally. Her mother is very busy during this period, so she just hangs out with her bestfriend and his dad, lighting up lanterns. After that, though, Rapunzel drags her and her bestfriend to a celebration in the castle. Casaleena sends a text to her mother and is usually sent on read. Goes back home early to game with her friend and Idia.

Snezhana Kagamikku makes a speech in front of her people, blesses newborns and generally has a lot to do on that day. Her and her family are always busy, during New Years, so they just send letters to each other.

Fandorm Showcase #38 - The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea

Introducing the icy cold undersea dorm inspired by The Little Mermaid 2...

Glaciephalo (Glacier + Cephalopod)

Glaciephalo, like Octavinelle, also consists a dorm that is submerged in a watery environment as part of the illusionary space, but it also has lower temperatures to symbolize the colder climates of the ocean. Within Glaciephalo, the housemistress runs a cafe that is like Mostro Lounge, called The Iceberg Bistro, where everything they serve is chilled with the natural frosts of the climate and they also provide live performances for their patrons. However, The Iceberg Bistro runs a side gig within its icy walls...A consulting business where the housemistress answers everyone's worries and concerns with a simple spell in a bottle, no contracts included. (You can hear Azul's saltiness-)

Students in Glaciephalo are graceful and sophisticated people, who carries the atmosphere with poise. But they are known to be very knowledgeable in potionology, using their vast archive of formulas to craft the perfect magical elixirs. Just be sure not to underestimate them for not solving problems with brute force...

Dorm Uniform:

Keeping the mafia theme between Glaciephalo and Octavinelle since it's run by the two Ashengrotto siblings. I modeled the skirts after Morgana's octopus tentacles since it resembles a dress in a way, as well as the patterns for the standard look. The walking cane is a jab at Azul's magic item since the housemistress is his sister, but still has a personal flair.

Ciana Ashengrotto (Based off Morgana, Ursula's sister)

Ciana Ashengrotto, the poised and sharp-witted housemistress of Glaciephalo, is a name whispered with a blend of awe and unease throughout Eventide Corvus Lyceum. As the younger sister of Azul Ashengrotto, Ciana was once just another face in the Ashengrotto legacy—until she forged her own path, one far colder, quieter, and more independent than her brother's.

Where Azul built an empire of deals and contracts, Ciana built clarity—her consulting business, housed within her quaint-yet-enchanting café, The Iceberg Bistro, draws in troubled students and staff alike. She offers advice, guidance, and, for a price, her trademark “bottled spells”—single-use enchantments that last exactly three days, timed down to the final tick of a snowflake-shaped hourglass. No signatures, no chains—just results.

Though undeniably talented in potioncraft and spell alchemy, Ciana grew up under the long, looming shadow of their mother’s favoritism toward Azul. She’s not bitter—at least, not outwardly—but there’s an icy resolve in everything she does. Ciana’s calm, calculated demeanor and distant smirks often leave people wondering what she’s really thinking. She’s a master at maintaining control of her image and emotions, rarely letting the past show unless someone knows exactly how to look beneath her frosted surface.

Unlike her brother, Ciana despises manipulation for manipulation’s sake. She sees herself as a "transparent alternative to the tentacled fine print," preferring open deals and personal agency, though she’s not above profiting from desperation. She's elegant, well-spoken, and ever-so-slightly passive-aggressive, always one step ahead in every conversation—whether it’s about magic, money, or matters of the heart.

Despite her icy persona, Ciana deeply values independence and self-worth, especially for those who’ve felt overshadowed or overlooked like herself. Many of her most loyal patrons are those she’s helped escape toxic arrangements or oppressive expectations—often Azul’s, though she'd never say it aloud.

Deep down, she really wished for more recognition just like her older brother, Azul, but she wanted to do it her way. Ever since she was young, she never got a chance to live with her brother and is stuck living on the colder side of Coral Sea with her mother's cousins, her octopus biology has grown to adapt to the cold temperature, even developing new features to help her survive (Like thicker layers of mucus and more durable suction cups to clasp onto ice glaciers underwater). She has been lonely for the entirety of her childhood, until she met a shark merfolk and a pair of manta rays, who are curious about her hobbies and skills of potionology. From that point on, the four of them became the closest of friends, until they entered elementary school. They are always together throughout their elementary school life, until they all received an invitation letter to ECL.

Notable Members:

Galea Selachii (Junior) - A junior student who has two sides: Gigantic apex predatory merfolk underwater, a pint-sized girl on land due to a botched potion she was given, but that doesn't get rid of her bad temper and monstrous strength to lift people taller and heavier than her. (Based off Undertow)

Morena Mobula (Sophomore) - One half of the famed Mobula Twins, Morena serves as the more socially active twin and acts as a sort of informal ambassador of goodwill around campus. But during her free time, she’s a trinket collector, fascinated by the mundane and the strange, from bottle caps to lost buttons and collecting them while documenting its historical wears and tears. (Based off Cloak)

Serena Mobula (Sophomore) - The other half of the Mobula Twins, who's more reserved and quiet most of the time, only speaking on occasions when it calls for it. Serena is calm, observant, and deeply intuitive, but she’s especially sensitive to energy in a room. If someone is hurting, anxious, or holding back tears, Serena is the first to notice and tries to calm the situation. (Based off Dagger)

(Just so you know, I’m not counting Yuusonas or Yuu stand-ins for the sake of staying short and sweet ^^;; Only characters that are non-Yuus and specifically twisted from some Disney counterpart are considered in the context of this post.)

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHhHHHhhhhh Finally, an excuse to talk about Twst OCs, my beloved... Some Twst OC creators I enjoy (and send all my love to!! ^^):

@loojii — They have a lot of cute girls!! My favorites are Yina (twisted from the hyenas, shipped with Ruggie), Elisa (twisted from the white singing flower, shipped with Trey), Shari (twisted from the magic lamp, shipped with Kalim), and Amari (twisted from Zira, shipped with Leona). They all have interesting or funny interactions with their respective love interests and other characters (I believe they attend an all-girls arcane academy). Yina in particular is a riot; she's so lovey-dovey even though Ruggie doesn't seem to give her the time of day OTL Looji's character designs in general are very easy to understand and appealing. They make the occasional comic page featuring them, which I always eagerly eat up.

@cozymochi — Technically an exemption to the "not going to talk about Yuus in this post" thing I opened with (since they do have a Yuu based on Tiana that's hard-working and warm). But Tia (their Yuu) aside, they have 3 (I think going on 4 now) OCs that are twisted from very underrated villains from Disney kids' TV shows. Nyoka (twisted from Ushari) is their most popular and most thirsted after one, but I find myself partial to Emilio (twisted from Esteban), who's sort of pathetic, and Cecil (twisted from Cedric), who is also sort of pathetic, myself. One plus is that cozy is in the habit of rambling a LOT about their lore, personalities, and how they bounce off of their peers + dorm members, so there's a ton you can read up on them if you're interested.

@yaoyaobae — I think a lot of people may already know this name, as they're a pretty well-known Twst fan artist. While I do enjoy their art of canon characters, I think I like their RSA OCs even more. Jaseem (twisted from Jasmine) and Alison (twisted from Alice) are my favorites! Their OCs are usually introduced in a very detailed manner (with a profile, alternate outfits, and even a few panels showcasing how they speak or interact with their peers), and I love reading up on them.

LaizyBoy (their Tumblr’s deactivated but you can find them on Twitter) — They have many Twst OCs but my favorites are their Octavinelle ones, which I believe depicts the Octavinelle to follow Azul + the twins. There's Vert (Azul's little brother), the stingray twins Cloak and Dagger, and Gale, the tiger shark. The four of them are based on Morgana (Ursula’s sister) and her minions from The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea. They have such fun dynamics with one another and with Azul nii-san 😂 Good to browse if you’re a fan of little doodles with blips of dialogue.
