i need to talk about this because apparently i have been delusional ALL my life.
tonight, i joined a watch party where we watched rise of the guardians. i have only seen this movie once in my childhood, and no other times after that. all i remember is liking it, and a few twists. like jack frost being dead etc.
one of the twist i remember was the first twist of that kind id ever witnessed, and it broke me as a kid. it was with the sandman.
basically the sandman dies, they all mourn him for the whole movie, etc. towards the almost ending point of the movie jack goes to the main room with the globe and is seeing it failing. he then sees dust or something?? i don’t remember. and realizes that it’s the sandman. and the sandman appears behind him being revealed as a traitor and jack is all heartbroken etc, because his dead friend is alive, and tricked them the whole time.
the sandman talks basically about how like nobody gives a fuck about the sandman, and the bogeyman was right. etc. this was like the biggest plot twist to me as a child, it stuck with me so much the imagery, the scene, the sadness i felt. for like YEARS, i hated the sandman 🦧 i’d see him in promo and go, “oh yeah the dude that betrayed the other guy.”
i rewatched it tonight. THAT SCENE NEVER HAPPENED. THE SANDMAN NEVER BETRAYED ANYONE, I JUST MADE IT UP. i feel lied to by myself, like the memory is so vivid it’s odd 😭😭 like i hated this tiny sandman for actually years just for him to be a silly little guy 😭😭 what was up with that past megan.

The world exists in such a baffling state of simultaneous sex-aversion and sex-hegemony. Every social platform on the internet is trying to banish sex workers to the shadow realm but I can't post a tweet without at least two bots replying P U S S Y I N B I O. People are self-censoring sex to seggs and $3× but every other ad you see is still filled with half-naked women. Rightwingers want queer people arrested for so much as existing in the same postal code as a child and are also drumming up a moral panic about how teenage boys aren't getting laid enough. I feel like I'm losing my mind.

Vil can resist any puppy eyes.... except his own children's.
Continuation of Vil obviously not having younger siblings/pushy wards.

Starkid is one of the absolute best arguments for supprting independent art. The fact that the shows you're invested in can't get canceled by Big Daddy Streaming, the quality is always amazing, the love of the cast and crew doesn't get squeezed out by surprise budget reductions, the fact that since crowd funding provides almost all costs up front (plus the presence of voluntary digital ticket/in person tickets for additional funding), the fan base can access the full material for whatever cost they can contribute (even if you can give nothing monetarily, you will still get a professionally shot version of the material eventually, without surprise fees or password crackdowns, AND with captions/completely accesible regardless of location). The same goes for Tin Can Bros, Shipwrecked, and all the other associated theater and web series companies loosely connected to Starkid. Like, I cannot believe the amazing content provided to us at the same level as Broadway or streaming services with billion dollars at hand, with almost none of the catches that come with others. Like, I cannot believe that we get all of this right at our hands.

Reading comics is constantly like "Here is one of the most fascinating concepts you've ever seen in a piece of media. No we will not elaborate on it and you will never see it reach its full potential. Here is an interesting, new character. Oh now they're dead/rewritten to be less interesting/trapped in a different version of earth to be only mentioned off hand and never seen again. Here is your favorite legacy character: they're currently being written by a misogynist." And then once in a blue moon there's a comic that blows your tits clean off it's executed so well. But it's a limited run.

Blep. (Sequel to the boop)
Or alternatively titled: Snake Jamil, but even larger noodle
The species that Jamil is based on here is called the Blood Python (special thanks to @kirexa for the information!), which can reach an average of 4-6 ft in length and up to 30 lbs in weight.
