So in the Mortal Kombat fandom there's this thing where a character who for all the games prior (Sindel) was portrayed as a good guy, though one who was initially under mind control, was retconned in the 11th game to have Always Been Evil The Whole Time and betrays everyone. Nobody liked it, everybody hated it, and that version usually gets called Twindel because it's easier to explain that the version we see in MK11 is just her evil twin rather than the actual Sindel.

MK1(2023) Bi-Han really feels like Dominic's revenge for not getting the reaction he wanted with Twindel. It's like he's taking what he wanted to do with her and shoving it onto Bi-Han. Even though it's just as nonsensical for him as it was for Sindel. He's lucky it kinda worked because, there seem to be far less people pulling a card about Bi-Han's ill-fitting characterization and just accepting it as is than there were over Sindel.

After playing MK Aftermath I think I am gonna have to kickstart Sindel/Sheeva (Sinva? Sheedel?) shipping even if I have to do it myself.

They had so much going for them. Like, Sheeva's tenderness and devotion when she's talking about Sindel, how she failed her, how even in death she's still devoted to her empress! Those longing looks! The idea that Sindel would be able to find love and happiness with someone after the death of Jerrod and her atrocious marriage to Shao Kahn? So powerful! So wonderful. My friend and I were playing the game and we were ready to ship that so much!

Even though I knew about the 'Sindel is actually evil' twist it still hurt. It felt so out of character (because it is a bullshit retcon). But I hated fighting Sheeva in the Sindel chapter. It felt awful, and not in a fun way. In a way that felt like they were throwing out all the potential of that setup and looking down on you for not figuring out that out of character turn was going to happen.

Like, you're telling me Sheeva was that devoted and attentive but never once actually noticed Sindel was just the absolute worst? No! I'm not buying it! It's rubbish! I want them to be happy!

I've gotta devise story ideas, but ones where the Twindel reveal never happened. I want this ship to work so bad!

No but imagine if Bi-Han actually DOESN'T know about his doppelganger and just leaves to do his chores one day and Bitch-Han takes his place!

Then Bi-Han comes back, groceries in hand and goes:

It's kinda sad either way that he will have to explain himself and work extra hard to regain everyone's trust, but the more time they spend with him (and with Frost) the more they realise ain't no way he's anything like Bitch-Han and that was definitely a misunderstanding (and Frost is actually the one they should be scared of)!

Also! Once they get to meet Mr. King of Netherrealm, that would be a funny thing for Bi-Han and Hanzo to bond over!

mk12 bi-han is given the exact same treatment as twindel, who was hated enough that the dev basically apologized for it in mk12, but the difference is that twindel was revealed to be evil when she was previously good in a shocking plotwist, while with bi-han they dont ever bother hiding they removed any neutrality from his character, and because of that, people dont care as much.
