Oh boy here I go turning my obsessions into Homestuck AGAIN

Yup this is a thing now, I decided, they're also all from Tatooine because that's the planet I'm currently obsessed with.

John is a Twi'lek, and on Tatooine, yeah, if you're familiar with Star Wars you already know he's a slave. He lives in Jabbas palace ready to help with laborial tasks, like murder, theft and anything else a crime boss would want.

Jade is a Jawa, a funny little creature that likes messing around with technology she finds. Though more of a creative type than a haggler, if her circle is selling you a droid chances are it's actually functioning as intended.

Dave is a Tusken Raider, yeah, this design is definitely the least recognizable as either Dave or a Tusken, but that is what Tusken children dress like. Anyway considering that Tuskens are only considered "grown up" after slaying a fucking dragon I feel like the upbringing was similar enough.

R0-S3, or just "Esthree" is a modified protocol droid, specifically modified with a head covering that purpose is unknown to most, but appears to prevent the ever prevalent memory-wipe, at least in any significant fashion.

I love twi'leks so much. i love twi'lek ocs so much. I literally have mine and I love her so much but I feel like I never talk about her as much as mari. like zeeta is actually so beautiful and so edgy and badass and cool and I need to make more art of her in situations because shes awesome and I love her.

What's your opinion on Twi'leks?

Ooooh I like their designs! (I even have a Twi'lek OC!) although they're super hard for me to draw correctly, lol

Given that it seems like is a species super sexualized (both in-universe and out of universe) I'm glad there are a few characters like Ayla or the Twi'lek revolution in Clone Wars that give more in-depth about them.

I would love to see more their culture and biology more fleshed out, tbh. Like what particular biological abilities they have, that differ from a human? Give me moreeeee

Commander Anara Len

Longtime followers of this blog are probably familiar with Anara Len--she was my pfp for a very long time, and I've commissioned(and posted) probably more art of anyone else in my roster.

Well here she is at the end of her journey--the War is nearly over, her arc is nearly concluded, and she is, for almost the first time in her life, really and truly happy.

Thank you so much @eileenwdj for this fantastic piece of art! You did an amazing job(as always) and I would be delighted to commission you again!

For those in the know, this piece is actually a mirror image of leen's earlier art of Anara when she worked for the Empire;

The difference is, unfortunately for dear 'Nara, night and day. She's much better-off now, at least!

But bringing it back to Star Wars, I have some thoughts that no one asked for.

I write about Twi'leks quite a bit, and I'm not even going to get into the weird sexual dimorphism that species has going on, but I do think about them a lot. Since Twi'lek women (or maybe females is the more correct term here? idk), at least, have eyebrows as well as eyelashes, it seems clear that the species has some hair. The yellow Twi'lek in TBOBF is the only exception to the eyebrow rule I've ever noticed, and even Numa, who's a four-year-old war orphan in a remote town, has eyebrows, so I don't buy the idea that they're makeup or tattoos.

Anyway, I like to think that Twi'leks, and maybe Togrutas and other similar species, have at least got very fine peach fuzz where some Humans might have more noticeable body hair. It seems nicer to me than them being completely hairless, but that's just my headcanon!

What are your thoughts on Ahsoka and other togrutas having eyelashes?

Ahsoka clearly have them in the series, but to me that doesn't make much sense as togrutas doesn't have visible hair anywhere else.

I know it makes her look more human and feminine, but biologically that's not a good reason for eyelashes in alien spicies 🤷‍♂️

Oh for sure, she only has such luscious lashes for the purposes of character design (same goes for her being a fangless carnivore 🥲) I would argue that they do definitely serve a purpose as they keep junk out of their eyes, though, and while birds are definitely not mammals and don't have hair on their bodies eyelashes are fairly common, so maybe it's a convergent evolution thing from scampering around in the dirt so much
