i don’t think enough ppl talk about the absolutely ridiculous writing decisions in twd s7 finale THE FUCKING TIGER??? coming out of NOWHERE and THAT is what stops negan from smashing carls head in. not to mention sasha coming out of the coffin as a walker and tackling(?) negan off of the truck which was THE FUNNIEST SHIT you can’t even deny and just in general it was the most marvel avengers infinity war type ending to a season i’ve ever seen so cheesy and stupid but i loved it

So so so late to the party but theres a long story as to why i'm just beginning to post about this, anyway,

Listen I hate Negan, always will. But... the man made me smiiiiile this episode, watching that stupid coward spencer get his guts stabbed into!!! Top tier!! I had been fucking waiting for that little shit to get his comeuppance !!

I finished my rewatch of Season 7 a few days ago and can confirm that this is a SCENE. It pulls at your heart and I know it did what it needed to do to get viewers to really believe that the takedown of the Saviors was coming.

After recently rewatching the series, I became more comfortable with Rosita x Gabriel after watching their Season 7 scenes together. The 7x12 "Say Yes" Richonne episode that everyone loves? Rosita is in a dark place. She brushes Tara off to go beyond the walls to search for weapons and goes to find Gabriel in the church. Her anger at the situation and her anger towards him is a great scene to watch. Gabriel reminds her that the community needs her and asks her what she's going to do with her life? "Anything is possible until your heart stops beating" was SUCH a great line.

Rosita is carrying the guilt of Abraham and Glenn's death on her back when she first seeks Gabriel out in the church in 7x08. He tells her then that Alexandria needs her, but still gives her the freedom to make her own choice over whether or not to use the bullet to kill Negan. He didn't have to.

They should have had more scenes together in Season 8 & 9A, but the showrunners clearly weren't prioritizing what they brought together in Season 7.

Now, as for Alden and Enid? I agree. Poor guy was brought in to be Maggie's romantic interest (which I don't think would have ever worked), so their decision to divert that line to Enid was a weird one and probably only happened because there were no other truly familiar main female leads at Hilltop aside from Tara and Dianne. Let's not forget the fact that the producers did very little to try and age up Enid beyond dressing her in lower cut t-shirts.

Personally, Enid x Marco is a ship that should have happened, imo. Marco was closer in age, and the longer hair he had in Seasons 9 & 10 definitely had Carl vibes. They both deserved a great back story of how upset Marco was at Ken's death and how lost Enid must have felt when Maggie left her behind. Alden should have been the big brother, teasing them both through 9B and then mourning Enid as a sister in Season 10 after also losing the surrogate mother he had in Tammy Rose.

But, unfortunately, Enid seems to have only been made a romantic interest as a way to focus more on Alden in Season 10 ... which was a very odd choice considering how they just wrote him off in Season 11 after 3 seasons of character development.

... I really just need to make a Reddit account for all these TWD thoughts/headcanons. Oops. 🤷‍♀️

Gabriel and Rosita being together is so fucking out of nowhere?? They have no chemistry?? I've hardly ever seen them talk in the series before. Istg they just put em together cause they wanted Gabriel to be in a relationship after Anne.

rick grimes TOWL era is like daryl dixon Saviors era — both are trapped and hate talking to their captors, and both have that same scrutinizing look on their faces !!!

this is going to be pure word vomit, but wow. okafor being as important to the entire story of the ones who live despite dying in the first episode was insane and incredible writing. the parallel between him and rick coming full circle at the end, with rick remembering the last thing okafor said before dying and not letting beale manipulate him at the echelon meeting. okafor retroactively being revealed to have never "died" as rick never really did, deep down, because he warned rick about the sword. the ONLY time he snapped was when rick insisted he had nothing, because he didn't have nothing. he always kept his wife's sacrifice in mind, just as rick always kept michonne in mind, even after he chose to "die," because he did this not being able to escape, but he could at least still build a better future for michonne and their children. rick switching sides, just like okafor did, and destroying the CRM's army to save everyone else. the story about rick's father and the burning crops...and okafor being someone who was someone who was researching and growing crops, whereas beale was stealing resources from other communities and destroying them. like okafor knew the CRM had to be destroyed so something new could grow, and he genuinely had a plan to do that and saw a future where more could grow, but beale only ever saw destruction in the future and used violence so that his own community could grow. beale telling rick that both the walkers and them are dead, whereas okafor told rick that all people are his people, everyone alive. beale had spies in other communities to help keep him informed and to help destroy those communities, whereas okafor trusted rick and told him the truth plainly, despite this going against beale's aims and potentially endangering his life, and rick finding his strength in trusting michonne, and lack of trust being what undoes thorne and jadis.

i'm just. wow. donald okafor the perfect morally grey character that you are ....
