~~Drabble summary~~

This is it! After five long months, Ink’s training has been completed! Now, feeling more stronger, she was ready to face Sukuna who was indeed waiting for her. So now, the devils were getting ready to send them home. However, while they were getting ready to leave, it seems Sukuna has sent a ‘welcoming’ party to them to bring them back. And what would he do to set ground rules? Wanna know what? Read to find out.

Time was up. The fifth month has come and gone and it was the start of the next one. Ink was gone during that time training with Vanity who has seen she’s gotten the hang of it. Her cursed energy has gotten stronger from what Gojo senses and sees. Even seeing her domain expansion greatly improved. Over that time, he did show her his final resort attack called Invicta Deamonium. As he said, it was only to be used as a last resort and nothing else. But he knew she was going to be fine. Now, the fractions were alright but healed as they were already getting ready to be sent back home.

“Well, it seems it’s time to send them back. It’s been a long road but..today’s the day..” Minx said seeing the Devils agreeing with the demon contractors ready to do that. They will be the ones to send them back but things should be fine. The devils knew it was possible but Yen was still worried due to that disturbing vision in his mind. He couldn’t shake this feeling of something bad happening. He figures it was nothing but..this feeling was disturbing. Watching the contractors leave to get everyone, the devils hope they return safe.

~~In the medic ward~~

“Alright you guys. I guess we are heading back now. It’s been a long run but....” Ink looks to everyone knowing everything was going to be nervous seeing her ready to go. However, they wanted her to pull through this. Even from all this just made them worry. For now, they shouldn’t get nervous and think of what to do.

“Right now, We have to wait for Miss Madam and Senkai to come so we can head on back home. But remember guys; I know you wish to help me but..” Ink looks to them but they understood. They wouldn’t interfere in this battle. It’s between Ink and him. No one else.

“We won’t..” she heard everyone say but she gives a nod back but now leaves the question to where Senkai and Miss madam was.

~~Meanwhile~~

“Seems it’s time. I think we can send them back in a spot where that fight will be taken care of. Don’t you agree?” Miss Madam or Lilith said to Senkai who was walking down the hall while looking ahead.

“True but remember dear. We all have to see how this goes. Knowing that spirit he might be pulling a trick or something.” he didn’t trust this since they were going to send them back. It was a simple quick task but why does he get this feeling of...a bad feeling? While they were walking, outside was peaceful and clear with no cloud in the sky. That changed when something dark was floating over towards Vanity’s domain. Or something lurking in the forest around his domain.

A pair of eyes looks at the image of the old church seeing and sensing familiar auras in there. That’s where they had to be. The figure in the dark smirked showing the same cainine teeth. Seems he’s learned new tricks.

‘So that’s where you were Inky.....seems your finally coming back but...I want this fight to be fun so lets play a bit to help you get there...’ he smiled but snaps his fingers. Something of a monster was shaking through the forest now heading towards the church. But their was some being summoned within the lower areas of the church. They were creeping up the church while others didn’t know.

~~With Senkai and Miss Madam~~

They were walking down the hallway of this giant kingdom like church but they were getting ready to send the heirs home before Lilith tenses up sensing something. She stops to turn looking behind her. This caught Senkai’s attention.

“What’s wrong?”

“.....Nothing. I could have sworn I felt something. It must be nothing. We better hurry.”  she smiled to him as he turns to keep on walking but as he did, something was off to make them stop. The two contractors felt something in the hallway that they quickly turned to eyes widen seeing something jumping at them.

Lilith held her hand out firing crystal daggers to stab into the thing as it crashes into the wall. She and him looks seeing some cursed demonic being that worries them. Where did this thing come from? Second, how did it get inside? The two slowly looked at one another before hearing a crash from the other hall.

~~Vanity’s main throne room~

“What the hell are these things!?” Caym shouted dodging one that tried to attack him with the other devils were fighting off some demonic like ghouls in the throne room. They were suppose to take Ink and her friends back but something happened. This was not possible! Something had got past Vanity’s barrier and he didn’t invite anyone without him knowing! He saw the others fighting them off while some tried to attack him but he cuts them down in half glaring.

“Something happened!!” Eigor shouted out taking down a few himself with the other devils. Something is amist now that Vanity grips his sword to look at everyone. Seeing his fellow devils fighting. This had to be Sukuna. It had to be! Did he have the ability to slash through barriers to get through demon’s worlds?

If that’s the case...

“The others! We need to get to the heirs!” Goa shouted smacking one away from her but as one tries to tackle her, something cuts it in half showing Nagi defensive. Damn that cursed spirit.

“Someone needs to get to the heirs now!” Vanity shouted but knew his men was busy outside with this. It was bad. He sent an all out attack on Vanity’s domain! As for Vanity he was cutting them down with his grey eyes looking fruious.

‘How is this possible? How could he get through my barrier? He’s gotten smarter and stronger..damn it..’ he thought but cuts a monster down.

~~Meanwhile~~

The others were waiting for a while now and yet no one showed up. Where were Vanity and the others? Or to say where was Senkai and Lilith? Ink was waiting with the others but as they waited, they heard some crashing noises.

“What was that?” Kali asked looking around as the others did the same.

“I don’t know. It sounded like it was from outside.” Hellmare said while looking around but as they were about to check, something bangs on the door where they were to make them tense. What the hell???

“.......”

“...Did..did you guys..hear that?” Ashley asked scared.

“Yeah. What the hell is going on out there?” Rust said as the banging happened again to make everyone stand to move from the door. The banging kept coming louder and louder like something was out there in the hallways. Ink wasn’t sure but this felt..off to her. Before she or anyone else could do anything, the doors suddenly got blasted from the wall right towards them.

“!!”

Breezy quickly kicks the door back to see it smash onto the floor but looks seeing some monsters growling as they came in the medic bay. “The fuck are those thing!” she said as they were growling. Drool dripping off their large jaws with front rows of teeth but they didn’t seen like normal monsters. They looked to be demons of some sort. Everyone backs up from them as they kept coming in the room but now they didn’t know why but the monsters growled at them before trying to attack. Quickly, T-bone and Fin made a ice wall to stop them as Ink and the leaders looked.

“EVERYONE OUT!!” Kali shouted holding Alex’s hand as he was crying. She then starts opening the door while everyone runs out of that room while the monsters were smashing against the ice wall trying to get to them. Now everyone was running down the hallway while wondering what the hell is happening. As they kept running, they rush downstairs before a bigger one now came crashing down to get in between them. Everyone kept running before one grabs Maggie.

“Hey!”

“MAGGIE!!” Taz and Gerald shouted but she struggles as it was pinning her down about to eat her till....

“Get away from her!” Maggie looks to see a ice fist smashes the demon’s head in sending it flying right into the wall dying. T-bone blew some smoke out while he had the ice ears, tail but glaring as two more show up. He blasts them back but Maggie shook her head getting up to see one about to hit T-bone but she blasts it back burning it.

“Thanks for that!” T-bone said.

“No problem! Thanks for saving me!” Maggie said back but saw everyone running again with them following. More of these things kept chasing them down trying to catch them while they were getting away from them. They had no idea where the contractors were but a few shows up in front of them but Navarro and Echo got in front with her showing red energy orbs to throw them. They blew up burning the group as they screech in pain from the fire. One jumps over only for Navarro to throw a bomb at it’s mouth causing it to explode. It’s blood, guts, and other fluids hit the ground as everyone now heard the fighting and monster like roaring outside. What the hell is happening?!

“COME ON!! GO GO GO GO GO GO!!” Ink and Jinx shouted ushering everyone out into the next part from the medic section to the other area that leads to the back but both of them sends a blast of blue and black flames mixed together hitting the monsters as they were screeching in pain. A few of the monsters now gave chase, trying to catch them they kept running with a few now showing up at the sides. Ashley gasped controlling the plant life to wrap around them tight as they struggle trying to get free but it tightens to crack their necks. Giant plant eaters show up to eat the demons whole now as the group runs to the main hallway. Joshua cuts a few in half with arrows from both Angel and Hiroshi stabbing a few away.

They run through into another area before a few more showed up now rushing towards them. That’s when daggers from Shrika stabs them in the head killing them but bugs swarm the other two starting to eat them alive. Pete was holding his little brother Yumeno in his arms who was scared holding onto him as he was carried. Matt even threw some of his hunting swords while killing a few. 

“COME ON MOVE IT!!!” Matt shouted running with the others down the hallway. As they got to a room, the group runs down the hall to the door but as they tried to open the door, the door was locked!

“Fuck! It’s locked!” Fin said but they looked hearing the monsters gaining and getting closer.

“We gotta ram it down!!! Ram it down!!” Fin and Ethan begins trying to ram into the door to try breaking through with Rust helping.

“Come on! Come on!” Rust shouted trying to ram into the door with the other two. They take a few steps back but begins rushing towards the door and rams it open as everyone helps them up and runs once more. The monsters follows through the broken doors roaring out.

~~With Senkai and Lilith~~

“We have to find Ink and the others! they must have ran from the main medic ward somewhere!” He was running back to the devils to see if they were alright with her following. The hallway was drenched in blood with some of these things as the two kept running. However, they did make it to Vanity’s throne room. They open the door to see the devils alright but the area was drenched in blood as they were tired.

“Vanity!”

He looks to see the two to hold his blade. “Where is Ink and the others?” he asked.

“We went to find them in the medic ward but those things found them and must be chasing them down! We have to find them and send them back!” Lilith was worried but Vanity looks quiet but looks.

“We need to find them. Lets go!” He said to the other devils but their might be one place they were sent to so they follow Vanity to do that. So now, they went to go find them.

~~Meanwhile~~

Ink and the others were running together even though they could fight these things they were too many and it was risky if they ambush them. So they just keep running. While running, Ink and Jinx set up fire walls to stop a few or some dumb enough to run through it burning themselves to death.

“Where are we g..gonna go!? Those monsters are dead behind us!” Melinda said running as they could hear them roaring at them trying to catch up. She noticed but waves her hand making a barrier to hit a few back.

“I don’t know but standing around won’t get us away from them! Just run!” Fin said running with everyone but that’s when Ink saw a familiar room that she looks to everyone. “Hurry in here! “she said while everyone was rushing through the door as she did to slam the door shut. A few crashes at the door but now trying to bang against it. Everyone was panting tired from running but they had to keep moving to get away from those things.

“We need a plan or something. I don’t get what the hell is going on!?” Kali said but Alex was scared crying while hugging her leg. She looks down to pick him up but tries to calm him down but hearing more of the banging to make the others be on the offense or defense.

“I don’t know..something must have happened or.....do you think he found us?” Vivi asked that everyone looks at her.

“But that’s not possible. The devils said he couldn’t come here..right?” Wes asked worried as everyone else was unsure. “I mean, even if one could, they needed Vanity’s okay to get through.”

They didn’t know but this feeling tells them it’s true. Before they could think of anything else another thing lands near them to swipe and hit everyone away. But it begins roaring out about to kill them but something slashes it’s eyes roaring out in pain. Vivi was holding her scythe drenched in it’s blood with Shdwkyz beside her with his katana drenched in it’s blood too. The two rushes toward it, cutting it as they were hacking away as they attack it.

The monster swings trying to catch one but Shdwkyz stabs it’s hand seeing blood gushing out but as it tries to eat him, a gash was deep in it’s back as it was from Vivi.

Ink and Jinx saw this worried when two more show up. That’s when a Metal arm punches them away before a wind blasts them through the wall as it shows Rust and Breeze defending the others. they saw the two more show up ready to tackle them as the other two was getting up roaring at them. Breezy and Rust kicked them back hard into the other two. That’s when Breezy held her hands out to suddenly increase the air making it hot that it sets the four monsters on fire.

The others winces hearing their roared pained screams before seeing Vivi and Shdwkyz stab the bigger one to weaken it.  Shdwkyz lands but flicks the blood off to look over.  “Vivi!” he shouted  but she nods, landing to grip her scythe dashing towards the monster with him.

Both her and Shdwkyz charge before swinging their blades for a few seconds being on the other side. The monster didn’t move till blood gushes out as it roars in pain when it’s throat opens up and the head falling with a loud thud. The group was worried now around one another but sees more and more show up but they were ready to fight if need be. However, before they could, something surrounds the group showing it’s bats?? The DBT knew who it was to see Sekai and Lilith show up.

“Senkai!”

“Miss madam!” 

“Not now girls! Everyone gather around now!” Lilith saw everyone hurrying over to the two as she and Senkai used magic to form around everyone but they suddenly teleported them out of that area to a new one.

~~Royal throne magic room~~

The devils were there after a while but Vanity was angry. His domain was being destroyed by these monsters but he saw his men fighting them but the others were waiting when hearing a familiar flapping noise looking. Senkai and Lilith show up but had ink and the others.

“They did it!” Minx said but this was not the time feeling the area cracking up.

“Vanity! What is going on!?” Ink asked but he looks to her.

“It seems I had a unwelcome guest and not it seems the guests are looking for you and the others. Right now, we will have to send you back right away before they take this place down.” Vanity said but Ink and the others were shocked.

“W..wait..what do you....” Ashley started to say but was worried seeing Cal sigh.

“It means we are able to send you back before this world gets bad. We will be fine but you all have to be sent back now before those monsters find you.” he said that the heirs were quiet looking at their devils.

“But..”

“Trust us, Wes. We all will be fine but right now this is getting too dangerous for you all to stay here. You must leave before you become taken by them.” Forcas said to them as everyone was quiet. Did this mean the devils were going to stay and fight these things before fixing everything?

“We don’t have much time....we need to send you back now..” with that, the devils gather around in a circle around everyone as they held their hands out showing a color of their domain. That’s when a light shows from under the heirs shocking them. The energy was warm but they saw Vanity walk over to hold his hand out adding his power. The light glows bright as they feel the energy making them float slowly.

“Vanity!” he heard Ink call to him as she was floating up.

“We’ll be fine Ink. You and the others are going to be alright this will send you back home. Like I said, you all have to get out of here!” he said before everyone looks seeing the monsters again. They call out but the contractors would protect them while they are being sent back. While floating up Ink looks down but feels the portal open up above them now taking them back to New York.

“NO! Vanity!!” Ink tries to get back down but the devils kept sending them up that he looks up seeing her but she looks back at him. He knew she’ll be alright. she had to be.

‘Good luck, my little hatchling. We all will watch over you all in hopes you get through this...’  He looks away before the devils begins fighting the monsters.

“NOOOOO!!! VANITY!!!!” hearing her shout she along with them was sent back as the portal closed. The devils saw them gone but was happy they were safe now they can help Vanity clean up the mess.

~~In New York~~

‘..........’

‘Ink? Ink, can you hear me? Are you okay Ink? Please be okay...’ Ink was laying on the ground, feeling herself black out a little but she slowly groans to wince opening her grey eyes slowly to see her vision blurry. She blinks twice to  cough seeing Jinx near her as she slowly tries sitting up.

“Ink? Are you alright?” she asked but she held her head but looks to Jinx.

“Yeah..but...wait, the others? Are they..”

“Calm down, they are fine. We all were sent back to New York.” Jinx shows Ink everyone waking up after the sudden knock out but they were fine. That was good to know. She sighed feeling relief that everyone was alright. She slowly got helped up to see they were back home in New York! Seems everything was being fixed up again so it seems nothing was wrong.

“We are back...but...everything seems...alright and quiet.” Jinx said but the others were up and about now. Ink looks down but remembers the devils. She hopes they were alright.

‘Dad.....’  she grips her pants to hope they were alright as Jinx helps her stand up but looks to see they were back. “And yeah, we are back..”

“Your right indeed.....you are back finally. Welcome home.”

Ink quickly turns to look seeing Sukuna once more while he was standing there while smiling seeing Inky again as everyone else got defensive but he only chuckled seeing this. “What? You all didn’t like my welcome back present? I figure it was to welcome you when you come back. Like it?” he grins but the others were worried but mad.

“So the monsters was from you!?” Kali said but Sukuna chuckled holding his hands out.

“Guilty. But, it was a gift like I said. I figure they would like it and it seems they did! Sorry a bout the mess though.” he smiled kindly to the group but some was angry but Sukuna sighed to relax smiling.

“But they will be fine. For now; I believe we have a fight Inky.” he said seeing Ink tighten her grip on the hilt of her sword but she knew it was time.

“Right..” she said about to move towards him but he held his hand up to stop her.

“But....a set of rules. As I said no one is to jump or help you in this fight. They can watch but that’s it. You know what might happen if they try anything..but...I can prove a point...or better..set a example.” he said smiling while looking to them.

“What? What are you-”

Suddenly, Sukuna swings his hand blasting everyone back to hit the ground shielding their faces as they crash on their backs. However, it was true Sukuna learned new tricks. Everyone went dark for a second.

‘Hmmm...Ugghh..w..what t..the...’

‘Jaron..*crying*..Jaron wake up....Jaron wake up please....’

A voice was speaking to him but he slowly moved to his vision being blurry till he opens his eyes seeing something of a light green teal color. It looked to be a teenager but someone familiar.

‘Jaron....Jaron wake up..’

‘M..Melinda?’

‘J..Jaron!....’ He groans but slowly turns to his side, trying to sit up as he did he had his eyes closed before being helped up to sit. He opens his eyes to look at his hand but saw the same light green teal. Hold on, what the-

He snaps awake to look at hi hand but then at himself.

He was...

‘A s..spirit...I’m a spirit?! How did his happen??!!’ he thought hearing his voice even sounding like one before looking at his hands. W..what? What the? Am I a...wait, what is going on?’

‘Ja...jaron.....’ he looks to see Melinda as he eyes widen in horror to see her but she was the same way. Her black hair was moving around her as he was shocked but looks quiet.

‘M..Melinda y..you..your a..’

‘Y..Yes but..I..I don’t know what happened. We all saw him a..about to attack u..us t..then....suddenly b..blacked out.’ she explains to him.

‘W..were spirits. Wait, i..if we are spirits.... then we...’ he slowly looks seeing his team and the others shocked but saw Melinda, Jaron, Vivi, and Shdwkyz’s bodies laying on the ground not moving!

Jaron was shocked but Melinda was scared too. She saw Vivi helping Shdwkyz wake up as he was startled by this wondering what the hell happened. The four were glowing in a light green teal color just like Jaron and Melinda. The others that was fine was horrified seeing this. Their eyes widen but felt the color leave their faces. Some was covering their mouths in shock seeing this.

However, Jinx glared at Sukuna who had a smirk on his face.

“WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO THEM!?” she shouted seeing him smile.

“Oh nothing! I just separated their spiritual souls from their bodies. As to say in short terms; their dead. Dead as gone dead!”he said.

‘W..w...what?’ Melinda said eyes wide but looks at her body laying on the side near Jaron’s own. It was resting on the side, her black hair all over with some covering her face. Jaron’s own face was hidden with his arm laying on his side. However, their hands or fingers were near each other while laying there.

Shdwkyz’s body lays on the side but his hoodie was covering his face with Vivi’s hood covered her body while her face is hidden. Their teammates were trying to wake them up but it was true. Even feeling their souls taken out was not possible!

“Jaron! Shdwkyz! Wake up! Please get up!” Fosh said panicking with tears running down his cheeks with Mouse worried seeing this.

“Melinda! Vivi..please....wake up guys.please wake up!” she said to her two teammates as she shook them but they didn’t move or react. The same for Jaron and Shdwkyz.

“Heh, See?”

“Their not dead you asshole!” Navarro shouted angry even if he was angry even Echo was mad while looking to him but the others stopped them before he tried it again.

“Is that so? Why don’t you check yourself?” Sukuna smirked with arms crossed over his chest. He did see Opheila and Hex walk over to check, shaking as their fingers reach to check their pulses.

Being quiet, Hex and Ophelia’s eyes widen that she covers her mouth crying shaking.

“N..No, Oh god no.....” she whispered.

“This can’t be happening....”  Hex shook feeling tears not wanting to believe that. Did this guy just kill four of them like nothing!?

“Now do you believe me? Their dead now. It’s something I learned in training. Fun right?”

“Y..You...”

“Yes, their dead. But! they’ll be fine. I can put their spirits or souls back and they will come back to life all fine like nothing happened. But if they stay out for too long..I’m sure some hungry soul demons would love to eat them up.” Sukuna smiled seeing something surrounding the four that Jaron keeps Melinda close to him while Vivi and Shdwkyz did the same seeing something lurking but keeps quiet.

“That is my warning, if any of you try to jump in and help her...you die just like that. It wouldn’t be fun if someone ruined the game so see this as my warning. Understand. If you try, they are going to be food never to be seen again!” he said.

‘S..so we are d..dead...h..he killed us..’ Melinda was horrified with eyes widen that tears were flowing down her cheeks but Jaron was keeping her by him, looking nervous but he keeps her close.

Shdwkyz was silent but Vivi was looking shocked as well. This shouldn’t be possible! A cursed spirit being able to do this..the feeling was unsettling. As the four tries to collect their thoughts, something reaching now to grab Vivi, Shdwkyz, Jaron, and Melinda’s arms.

‘H..Huh?!’ Melinda struggles trying to get free but they were strong pulling her away from Jaron who was held too.

‘Melinda!!’ Jaron screams to her but he struggles in the cold grips of the hands. ‘Let go of me!’

‘What is this!?’ Vivi struggles trying to get from the hands but they were still holding them tighter hurting them.

‘Let me go! Let go!!’ Shdwkyz hisses thrashing but they tighten their grip hurting the four of them.

‘What’s happening!? What are these things!!!’ he heard Melinda cry out as she with the other three feels the really cold hands grabbing them as they struggle in their holds now being pulled down into a portal that made the four shocked. Disturbing laughter heard in the portals as the hands pull the four down slowly.

“As stated before, they are going to be food! You four will be nice for the hungry spirits waiting to take a gobble you up!”

Sukuna laughed at this seeing the four sinking faster now.

“NO!!”

“Well?! Do you guys understand what would happen! Do you get my warning now!?” He said.

“OKAY OKAY OKAY! WE GET IT WE UNDERSTAND! JUST STOP PLEASE!” Jinx said seeing the hands pulling her two teammates down while Ink looks worried then at him. “LET THEM GO!”

“She’s right Sukuna! They won’t bother our fight! Please stop this!” Ink said. Sukuna looks to see the others trying to help but they couldn’t due to spirits but seeing this made Sukuna smile but he saw they get it. Seconds later, he flicks his fingers cutting the hands to let the four go as they were panting shaking. Then he snaps his fingers seeing the spirits disappear. Suddenly, Jaron gasps for air along with Shdwkyz near by coughing as they were brought back to life.

“Jaron! Shdwkyz!” Hellmare helps them up while Ophelia did too. Two more gasps were heard seeing Vivi and Melinda awake coughing as they were shaking. “Melinda! Vivi!” Mouse and Breezy helps them up.

“See? I’m nice. I gave them life but if you guys break the rules, that happens.” He warns but everyone was quiet but looking to him. Ink felt her hand shaking. How dare he do that! And to her friends. Even if it was a warning, that’s going too far.

“Now..with that settled. Just one thing..” He looks to the leaders before snapping his fingers again. Willow, Ethan, Guam, Kali, Fin, Matt, Jinx, Ashley, Joshua, Rex, and Yuuka felt dark chains around their necks and wrists but they got forced to sit down on their knees while being in a separated spear orb each. Their teammates were in a bigger dome connected to the orb spears by chains behind  the leaders it but Ink and Sukuna.

“GUYS!” Ink said in shock but Sukuna smiled to lower his hand.

“That is to have them get a good view of the fight. They won’t be harmed as long as they behave.” he snickered.

“Sukuna! That’s too far-”

All the missing moments we didn’t get to see between Percy and Oliver. This is a one-shot fic series that explores their complicated journey of how they went from being friends, to friends with benefits, to eventual long-term lovers.

Okay, fine. This has 4 ficlets so far in this series, but I am soo proud of them all since this whole story arc was how I got back into writing again 2 years ago. Had it not been for this series, I definitely wouldn't be writing fic right now, and I owe it to Perciver for recharging and revamping my writing style to what it is today.

Pansy never thought Ginny Weasley would get on her knees and go down on her in the Harpies’ locker room. But here they were, where anyone could see them.

This is a (spicy) drabble, and it was nice to write more sapphics fic this year. I love the energy between Ginny and Pansy, and it was a fun challenge to write something that captured the heat of a moment (with a hell lotta kinks) in so few words. Definitely a mission accomplished!

It has been a hot minute since I wrote anything for Dean and Seamus, so I'm glad I got to write something fun for them during Microfic May! I feel like there are so many perspectives we haven't seen, so it just made sense to capture a glimpse of moments as friends who become eventual lovers. Each microfic can also be read individually under the tag #love you for the rest of my life.

I'm really proud of this one since a. I wrote this in 2 weeks for an exchange, b. the requirement was 2k max or less, and c. it was my first time writing in Derek's PoV. I loved doing all the cooking research and adding some Hale roots. Derek is so soft, even though he tries to deny it. Also, sibling dynamics ftw!

I just posted this fic up last week, but I'm reccing it (again) since it's my first text fic ever, it's stylized with a skin (but can also be read in plain text), and it's the longest thing I've written since I started writing again. This was my biggest writing challenge to date because it took 3 attempts to write a text fic. I had lots of fun making Stiles and Derek banter and choosing all the emojis though. It was such a different way of writing dialogue only (and much harder to code than I thought, heh). So worth it though!

Nancy nervously crept into the kitchen, an old photograph clutched in her hands. Her mother’s back was facing her as she was washing the dishes. Even the though the small child was careful not to make a sound, her mother seemed to become aware of presence all the same.

“Well?” Akari asked, in that chilling tone of hers. She made no indication that she even saw her child, not once stopping in her current task. The older woman reaches a hand out turning the dial on the stove in preparation for their dinner tonight. “Have you finished your chores?”

Nancy fidgeted uncomfortably, shifting from one foot to the other as she debated whether or not she should just turn back and act like she never saw the photo in the first place. “Y-yes Mother...but um, I-I found something in one of the boxes you had me go through...”  Nancy looked down at the photo displaying a much younger version of her mother and an unknown, yet strikingly familiar man stood next to her. “I-I found a picture of you and this man that I’ve never seen before and I wanted to ask--”

Akari abruptly stops what she’s doing. Ever so slowly, she turns around to face her daughter. She’s too calm. Even as young as she is, Nancy knows that’s not a good sign. She should quit while she’s ahead. There’s still time.

But she presses on.

The little girl shakily holds up the photo so that her mother can see it better. “Mother...” Nancy starts, pushing down her fear of the woman in question in order to get some answers. “Is the man standing next to you in this photo my....my...?” Come on Nancy it’s just a word. You need to know who he is. Somehow you just got to. “......my father?”

Silence settles between them. This is not a good sign. Nancy’s instincts are screaming at her to run away, lest she find herself in danger. But she’s rooted to the spot, unable to move a muscle it would seem. Akari’s expression is unreadable as she approaches the younger girl. Suddenly, she snatches the picture out of Nancy’s hands, and tears it up right in front of her

“No--please don’t!” Nancy cries out, dropping to the floor to in a futile attempt to recover the ripped pieces. If the man in the photo truly was her biological father than she wanted to preserve his visage in whatever way she could.

Akari roughly grabs onto her child’s arm and drags her to the stove. She takes both of Nancy’s hands and places her palms down on the hot stove. 

Nancy screams.

Tears roll down her cheeks as she continues to sob and beg for her mother to release her hold. The pain is excruciating.  “I’MSORRYI’MSORRYI’MSORRY--” She wails, as she continues to writhe in her mother’s hold. IT HURTSITHURTSITHURTSITHURTS.IT. FUCKING. HURTS.

Finally, in what seems like hours later. Akari takes Nancy’s hands off the stove. She releases the girl’s hands and roughly grabs her face forcing Nancy to look up at her. The older woman pays not mind to the endless stream of tears that stream down her daughter’s face. “Never bring that man up again. Do you understand me?” She states coldly, pinching Nancy cheeks between her manicured nails.

Nancy only cries harder. Akari’s nails dig deeper into her child’s face. “I SAID DO. YOU. UNDERSTAND ME?” The younger girl manages a shaky nod to show that yes, she did understand. And with that, Nancy’s mother releases her hold and returns to her previous task. “Go clean yourself up. The first aid kit should be in the bathroom somewhere.”

The girl wastes no time running out of the kitchen.

Nancy learned a very important lesson that day. One that has continued to haunt her through her teenage years, her adult life, and finally....her afterlife. Memories such as these are not so easy to forget.
