Ender Pearl was not created in the Reef, like other pearls. On a planet far from Homeworld, a new colony was staked out with ease, as the Gems sent there found no dominant, sapient organic species to bar their progress. An enterprising elite Gem once explored the planet on her own at night, and was attacked by a strange, tall black being that could teleport. After a tense fight, the Gem managed to defeat this being, and on its death, it dropped a single, dark pearl. Taking this as proof of her conquest, the Gem went back to the Reef, expecting to turn it into a proper Pearl servant... ...but sometimes what you expect is not what you get.
