sometimes i wonder why cheating and infidelity became a joke in fandom spaces. like maybe i take it too seriously but i really don't think the idea of breaking someone's heart into a million pieces and betraying their trust is something to be laughed at. i don't even know how it started but it doesn't seem fair to just make it comedic relief when its so hurtful.

"I don't understand why they came up with a cheating plot for T'Pring/Spock. Even if Spock didn't cheat, T'Pring is in her right to want a divorce whatever her reasons. In TOS, lot of people saw her as a villain because of the situation she put Kirk in (even if he agreed though) but she was dealing with a possible marital rape. She didn't love Spock and that's a good reasons enough to get a divorce. In SNW, it's sad how she put her energy on a worthless partner. It's funny how the writers avoided the topic of child marriage, pon farr and why Amanda put her son in this situation. Yes I know probably because of Sarek's influence..."

This was exactly what Angel had been afraid of. This was exactly why he didn't want to go back to the hotel and face the music, to own up to his abhorrent behaviour in the name of doing the right thing. In one fell swoop, he had found himself shunned by the only people he truly considered family, and he couldn't stand it. He deserved it, he knew damn well he deserved it - but that didn't make it any easier to swallow.

He could live without Vox's forgiveness. He suspected he would - being framed for drugging and assaulting someone wasn't exactly the kind of thing that could be patched up with an apology. He could live with Charlie's bare-faced disappointment, with Alastor's hatred; he could choke it all down, soothed in the knowledge that he had it coming.

But Husk?

Husk was Angel's solace, his sliver of something real in a world that worshipped who they wanted him to be. Husk loved him for who he was underneath it all, every flaw and blemish, every dark secret and every terrible truth.

Almost. Not every.

Not anymore.

Now, Husk wouldn't even look at him. Angel reminded himself that he had been the one to insist he and Husk talk this out after he had shown up at the hotel following his two-week disappearance. Having confessed his sins to the audience of his horrified friends, he needed time alone with Husk to fully explain, to conjure up something that excused his actions and exonerated him from blame. He could win Husk's favour again if he just gave him the context, the details, the nitty-gritty of all his reckless and heartless behaviour. Angel could talk his way out of anything.

He stared at Husk in silence.

What could he say? Sorry I blamed a grieving man for a violent crime just so I wouldn't get caught using? Sorry I didn't tell you that I was grieving Valentino, I feel lost without him? Sorry I cheated on you with Vox, it's just he's the only link I still have to Val? Sorry I stole from Charlie and lied about being sober and slept around with strangers, sorry I didn't tell you I was in withdrawal from Val's pheromone, sorry I didn't tell you that I actually loved the man whose death you thought I was celebrating?

It was ridiculous. It was futile, he couldn't say all that, it was ludicrous to even try. It was messy and ugly and Husk should wash his hands of it, of him. If he had any sense, he would.

And yet, Angel couldn't bear to let him. Arms crossed over his body as though he were hiding behind them, he gazed stubbornly at his shoes. Get them before they get you. Tell him you're through with him.

Fuck, he couldn't do that either. What could he do? Why the fuck did he ask Husk if they could talk? He had nothing to say.

Scowling, he bit his lip as hot, angry tears pricked the inner corners of his eyes. There was no saving this. He had to take it on the chin.

"Are you finishin' with me?" he muttered, eyes still fixed on the floor. "Cuz, uh, might help ta know we're ova' before I do the whole beggin' yer forgiveness thing. Save us both the headache."

Ben isn't sure he wants to pry open this can of worms, but his inhibitions are low, and he's feeling pretty shitty about things after getting tangled in the sheets with Auggie after so many years. It's not lashing out, no, he's just not thinking.

"Because I didn't tell Bradley anything about you and your mistress. Made me a good loyal friend to you, but a shitty one to her, if you think about it. It's a real catch twenty-two, if you think about it."

It sucked, it really did. Hearing one of his closest friends committing to an act that Benj had real personal experience with himself. Still, Ben doesn't exude any malice, nor is there any judgment. Things happened the way they did, and he speaks in a very matter-of-fact way. Like he's reading off the weather report.

"I don't think it would've changed anything, she'd still have been hurt. Maybe that doesn't count then, lying by not saying anything. But you fumbled. You had a wife that loved you, and, tch."

He's too drunk for this, as demonstrated by the way he sprawls out, arms hanging across the bar top at the Four Leaf, and sighs, tapping the rim of his empty glass.

riddie yanno what i abs love with C&F?? There is just so maaaany potential for this story! Im not saying its not good as it is now, its so good that it can actually go so many ways? We thought we ended it in ch3, then we’ve got downpour where the plot twist is plot twisting lmaoo then there’s just so many what if’s?

What if oc leaves him? What if they married someone else because jungkook got another girl pregnant? What if they cheated on their own wife/husband because they couldn’t resist one another? Haha im not putting ideas in your head! I promise! I’m just amazed with this story and i love it so muuuuuch 🙂‍↕️

but ye, there are a lot of what ifs – if this was a cmi-length fic, i might have ventured into more angst and drama. and the thing is that with the cheating and affair storyline, i'd have an entire plot in mind – maybe i'll post a very small bullet point chapter of about 5k words with 'what if's once c&f is done 🧐

the couple just deserves so much happiness that i can't put them through more pain – Downpour is already so extreme :') i just want them smiling, my babies. and other than that, i am already so out of time.. honestly might retire once cmi is done 😭 i'm just so fkn thankful fr how much you love them, bc i do, too <3 so so so excited to finally post this baby hehe

Aiden cups his hand around the end of his cigarette and brings a lighter up to set a flame to it. There isn't much of a breeze out back of Tejas, but the door opening and closing for anyone going out to the back storage creates a small gust that can put it out. He takes a drag followed by a sip of his Monster energy drink.

Raising his eyebrows, he shrugs and realizes the conversation isn't over. "Nah, he died from health complications. See, he kinda cheated on my mom. Didn't actually, uh..." The can is placed between his feet by the box crate he is sitting on and his cigarette in his mouth to create the gesture of his finger going through the circle shape of his pointer and thumb on the other hand.

"Yet. She found out when it was just talking. It was his argument when she decided to take everything she could, but my mom, she's a shark and there was blood in the water."

Served him right, Aiden thought at the time, but as he got older, a shred of mercy wouldn't have killed Anastasia. She'd always liked money, more than anything else.

"But anyway, she put him in a small apartment, the girl he was talking to eventually took off, and he had a stroke or whatever. Lived for some time after, I'd go visit him even if he didn't care if I showed up, but whatever. Doesn't matter much now."

I’m at the usual table, Holden texted before setting his phone down on the table. The booth in question was a little secluded from the rest of the area and offered some privacy but above all, the muffled sounds coming from the speakers meant they’d be able to actually maintain a conversation without straining to hear or shouting over the music.

It was a bit strange to be here though. They had good memories at this table so he hoped what he was about to do wouldn’t tarnish them. Because yeah, he’d decided that tonight, he would tell her that he saw her boyfriend doing just a few days ago. There was no easy way to reveal something like that but he figured it would be way harder for her to hear it so that encouraged him to stand his ground. She needed to know. He couldn’t wait to see her though. He’d even arrived 15 minutes early and just to avoid keeping her waiting, plus maybe, just maybe he wanted to see her arrive and make her way over to him. She was a snack, there was no denying that, and old habits die hard, right? His gaze kept drifting to his phone every now and then so he wouldn’t miss potential texts from her.
