#tw cat illness

Hey uh… I figured I should post about this…

So uhm… I am going to try to take a bit of a break, if I do post it’ll probably just be little doodles or something. It’s not going to be forever, just for a little bit, I will get back to requests when I can. There’s just been a lot things that have happened this past weekend and I’m still processing it.

I first found out that my cat that we’ve had for going on 16 years has leukemia, there is is treatment for it but unfortunately we can’t afford it and with his age— and the fact that he’s going blind and has hip problems— we aren’t able to get it for him, and if we do we fear it might do him more harm than good.

After that I found out that my uncle had passed away very suddenly and we had to find out through another family member because my aunt has too much of a grudge against us to tell us herself. I don’t know what happened between us, but she just doesn’t like talking to us. Not even her father in law (my grandpa who lives with us)

And on top of all that, I was helping my friend with moving things and something landed on my foot. I think it is just bruised but I’m going to the doctor at some point to have it checked for sure.

I’ll be ok, I just wanted to let everyone know in case I if don’t post for a bit 💜🩷

Just had a roller coaster of emotions the past couple of hours. My sister called me bawling her head off while I was at work because she'd come home from to to find her cat covered in mats and had to take her to the vet as something was obviously wrong. The vet said there was a mass under her tounge which was possibly cancer and might not be able to be treated and he'd do a biopsy and then ring my sister to come and pick her up later. I managed to get provisional time off work just in case of the worst news and spent ages upset and kinda angry at my dad for not noticing properly.

Just had the call back that on further inspection, the mass can be removed and that'd be done tonight. And that it probably wouldn't have made a massive difference if she'd been brought in earlier as, as far as we can tell, she didn't show symptoms until the past couple days. We'll need the biopsy to know more but at this point the kitty (Dotty) is probably going to be OK.

This is the lovely lady in question. She's a very sweet moggie. My nicknames for her are Dotsum and Flotsum and Fluffbutt

As an ace individual I never really wanted a relationship but I find myself wanting one now that I found out that my cat may be very sick. Like cancer just make them comfortable sick. I am distraught. I cant eat. I am stressed out 24/7 and I just want someone to hold me and take some of the burden. To listen to me cry and be stressed out about the most irrational things. I am realizing in my 37th year of life that I want a person. Someone to do this with. Is anyone out there?

You're WHAT?!?!?!?!

I was crying from pain at the emergency room and the nurses were bitching about me not dying so they couldn’t help right away even if I kept passing out and had been there for a long time, this sweet old Russian lady who was also admitted since earlier stood up and walked next to me and kept comforting me and asking how I was holding up, she kept checking in on me and being so sweet and going around asking if everyone was doing ok or just distracting family members of patients with nice conversations. She called out the doctors and nurses for not caring, she sat next to me and kept making sure I was ok and then gave me her phone number when she got discharged so I’d follow up with her. Honestly my day coulda been hell today but this one lady made it so bearable it’s not going to be remembered as a bad horrible traumatizing time, I got to meet an actual angel and I’m so happy about it.

Update (tw for animal death mention)

Well it's worse than we thought. Her kidneys are failing and we can do intensive treatment but if we don't it might get a lot worse and we'd have to say goodbye to my baby. Feeling horrible and torn between trying to better her condition maybe and wanting her to not be stressed by those treatments, unsure if they will work, and instead opting for peace for her... Don't know yet. It breaks my heart... trying to distract myself and I'll call the vet again for some follow up questions tomorrow...

One of my cats is showing some symptoms of having an internal issue and we're getting a blood test tomorrow to confirm/find out :/ I had to go to the emergency vet last week and it hasn't been fun... I hope it's something small that can be medicated and won't cost too much in the long run, worried about her a lil

Daikon and I stayed at my brother’s apartment as he lives in the same town as Daikon’s radiation oncologist…

And today we got great news! There is no sign of metastasis, her lymph nodes are normal, and the CT scan (which was taken for her radiation therapy planning) showed a big empty space where her tumor used to be. Just the medication she takes every day was enough to shrink it down to a fraction of the size it was at diagnosis. Daikon will still do the radiation therapy to catch the last of it but I feel really optimistic that she will beat this and become cancer free for many years. Thank you everyone for your kind words, thoughts, and wishes for Daikon’s good health!
