The absolute rabbit hole I fell into again, all thanks to jodel! But our dear vintage Kä took part in Pidä huolta (Take care) campaign back in 2021! (+ many other artists and blorbos you might recognize)

The Pidä huolta campaign is a charitable initiative by Toivon Kärki ry and MIELI ry, through which funds have been raised to support and assist young people after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the participation of over 70 Finnish artists. At the heart of the campaign is a new version of the late Pave Maijanen’s iconic song Pidä huolta. The campaign has been made possible with the support of S-Group and LähiTapiola.

MIELI ry/MIELI, the Finnish Association for Mental Health, works to promote mental well-being and prevent mental health issues. MIELI ry advocates for equal rights to good mental health for all. The organization coordinates the national network of crisis centers and promotes mental well-being for children, youth, working-age adults and the elderly. (source)

“The idea for a reimagined version of Pidä huolta came from the charity organization Pietarinkadun Oilers, while Pave was still with us. Although he has since passed away, he was able to give his blessing to the concept of updating the song with new artists for charity purposes. A huge thank you goes to Pave’s son, Vihtori Maijanen, for helping bring this project to completion,” says Jukka Immonen, one of the founders of Toivon Kärki and producers of the song. (source)

Do I speak Dutch? No. Do I have a vague idea what's this song about? Probably. Is it my jam and do I imagine myself on a hoodie sat with someone listening to this song? Yes and I'm not ashamed to admit that.

I have no clue what this song is about but it can be a Finnish pulla recipe and I wouldn't care. (I think I can understand the title, but with Finnish you never know.)

Okay, so I bumped into a song 'Se on minä joka hajoaa' by Tuure Kilpeläinen while scrolling a random YT playlist and the name of the song hurts my brain. Is that even grammatically correct? Shouldn't it be "se olen minä" or "se oon mä". What is "on" doing there? I remember Samuli Edelmann(?) singing 'Se olen minä joka voin kuivata sun kyyneleet'. Why is it different here? Aaaghh I don't understand....

In my mind this works fine and it is just the same as in English: 

“Se on minä joka hajoaa.” means 

“It is me who breaks down.” (I am the one who breaks down)

.... because Se - it,  on - is and minä - me.

But of course you could also say:

Minä olen se, joka hajoaa. - I am the one who breaks down.

or equally

Se olen minä, joka hajoaa. - It I am, who breaks down. (okay in Finnish, not in English haha)

Other examples I found:

Se olet sinä tässä videossa. - It is you in this video.

Minä olen se, joka minä olen . - I am who I am.  (Se olen minä, joka olen.) 

Minä olin se, joka katkaisi suhteemme. - I was the one, who severed our relationship.  (Se olin minä, joka katkaisi suhteemme.)

Loppuvuosi pikakelauksella

Tähän yhteen postaukseen tulee nyt melkoinen kuvakimara loppuvuodesta. Istuminen on ollut pitkään hankalaa, eikä lonkka ole vieläkään kunnossa. Mutta hitaasti kohti parempaa.
