Ivy rambles about horse things below the cut
Had to rearrange the stalls today and due to one senior mare having whatever is the equivalent of equine dementia and only being able to go in one stall and requiring a specific mare to be stalled next to her, lest she lose her ever loving mind until you rearrange things to her preferences, and other such Stall Politics(tm) I ended up sticking the two alpha bitches in stalls next to each other who I was praying would behave , and then two geldings next to each other who I foolishly thought would get along
The bitches? Happy. Quiet. Munching. Nibbling at each other through the bars in greeting.
The geldings? Chaos. Havoc. I am pissed.
#it’s gonna be near freezing and them having any number of health conditions YES they are stalled with blankies on#this is not an invitation to discuss the merits of stalling vs turnout and blankets vs no blankets#the horses are outside unless they need to come in#they are naked unless they are shivering#i know what temperature my horses shiver at#ivy is a horse girl on main

Owning a horse is a wonderful experience, but it also brings important responsibilities. Ensuring your horse stays comfortable and healthy, especially in cold weather, is crucial. This is where horse blankets become essential. If you’re looking for horse blankets for sale or exploring horse winter blankets, this blog will guide you on their uses and benefits.
What Are Horse Blankets?
Horse blankets are coverings designed to protect horses from cold, rain, and wind. They come in different materials and thicknesses, suited for various weather conditions. Lightweight blankets are ideal for cool nights, while heavy-duty horse winter blankets keep your horse warm during freezing winters.
How Can Horse Blankets Benefit Your Horse?
Horse blankets offer numerous benefits. Let’s look at how they help your horse:
Protection From Cold: Horses may grow thicker coats in winter, but extreme cold can still affect them. A good winter blanket provides warmth and prevents health issues like colds or stiffness.
Shield Against Rain and Wind: Wet and windy weather can make horses uncomfortable and even sick. Waterproof horse blankets are perfect for keeping your horse dry and cozy.
Maintaining Cleanliness: Mud and dirt can stick to a horse’s coat, making grooming harder. A blanket acts as a barrier, keeping your horse cleaner for longer.
Support for Older Horses: Senior horses often struggle to stay warm due to weaker immunity. A winter blanket provides the extra care they need.
Health Recovery Aid: If a horse is recovering from illness or injury, keeping them warm can speed up the process. Blankets play a key role in ensuring their comfort during recovery.
When Should You Use a Horse Blanket?
Not all horses need blankets all the time. Here are situations where blankets are most useful:
During Harsh Winters: Horses living in regions with very low temperatures benefit from blankets.
For Clipped Horses: Horses with trimmed coats lose natural warmth and need extra covering.
Older or Sick Horses: Aged or unwell horses need additional warmth and protection.
Rainy Weather: Waterproof blankets are helpful to keep horses dry in wet conditions.
How to Choose the Right Horse Blanket?
When buying horse blankets for sale, consider these factors:
Size: The blanket should fit your horse perfectly. A poorly fitted blanket can cause discomfort or even injuries.
Material: Choose a breathable yet durable material. Waterproof options are ideal for outdoor use.
Weight: Select lightweight blankets for mild cold and heavy blankets for freezing conditions.
Features: Look for adjustable straps, reinforced stitching, and padding for maximum comfort.
Where Can You Find the Best Horse Blankets?
Many stores offer horse blankets for sale in various designs and price ranges. You can check tack shops, online marketplaces, and specialty horse care stores. Before purchasing, read reviews and compare prices to find the best deal for your horse’s needs.
Why Are Horse Winter Blankets a Worthy Investment?
Investing in a quality horse winter blanket ensures your horse remains comfortable and healthy during the colder months. By protecting them from harsh weather, you save on potential vet bills and improve your horse’s overall well-being.
Final Thoughts
Caring for your horse involves more than feeding and grooming. Providing them with the right protection, especially during winter, is essential. Horse blankets not only keep your horse warm but also enhance their overall comfort and health.
If you’re looking for horse blankets for sale, explore options that suit your horse’s size, lifestyle, and local weather conditions. A well-chosen blanket will ensure your horse stays happy and healthy all year round!

My horses are in mid-weight turnout blankets and they’re still shivering. It’s cold, y’all
#she speaks#the neighbors’ horses are too#and no I don’t clip because my horses are younger and out of work#so they have full coats#and they are both in a TERRIBLE mood#they dry under their blankies but their necks are wet#cuz we’re in Texas as I would literally only ever use neck warmers for maybe two days out of the whole year#If I had light turnouts or sheets I could double blanket#but I only have spare mid weights#and they’d overheat if I double blanketed with two layers of mid weight blankets#that’s way too much#anyway don’t worry they’re fine#they lived through snowmageddon with the same blankets they’ll live through this too#even if they are pissed off lol

nsfw. plotless porn. i don't ✨love✨ it but i felt like being naughty.
warning for bareback sex if that's a squick!
--
“You remembered—oh fuck, remembered to lock the door, yeah?” Henry spares half the mind to ask as he sinks down on Alex’s cock.
“I think so,” Alex says, laid out and naked on one of the horse’s turnout blankets and his hands a warm, big clutch over Henry’s hips. While Henry stretches wide and eases in every inch of Alex’s considerable length, a heavily concentrated patience bends his brow. Which serves him right for today’s infuriating get-up—painted on black jeans and a matching tease-tight sleeveless pullover, a hell of a duet fashioned to melt all of Henry’s good sense better than the hanging high-noon.
“Alex,” Henry groans, achingly full and his arse now snug against the insistent nudge of Alex’s balls. He hitches forward, chasing after how perfect it feels before he even thinks to do it. “You’re not instilling much confidence here.”
“Do you really care?” Alex’s hands give him a squeeze and his brandy-bright eyes watch Henry knowingly, a smirk crooking his mouth to one side and setting off a dimple. “You wanna pretend it doesn’t turn you on? The thought of someone walking through that barn door, hearing something they shouldn’t—hearing sounds of little deaths—and then climbing up here to the hayloft. I mean, it’s been weeks at this point. It’s only getting riskier. Your filthy exploits with the stable hand.”
Henry’s face heats at the idea and there’s a denial on the tip of his tongue that he swallows down, already betrayed by the leaking head of his flushed cock and the new greedy grind of his hips. His hands possessively rove the honey-skin of Alex, from the soft dark hairs that cover his wrists to carved muscle higher up that’s sparsely dotted with moles on either side of a rivering vein. He winds up at Alex’s broad shoulders, gripping a strap of his top with one hand and the snarl of his hair with another, leaning in until they’re front to front and as Alex’s sturdy arms ring around him.
Merciless, Alex starts to move and continues, “They’ll see how well you ride my cock,” he grunts when Henry lifts and pressing back, again and again, riding him shamelessly, “just like that, sweetheart—like you were made for it and no one could do it better.”
No one can, Henry thinks. Maybe spills it between their mouths because Alex is even more smug under him right where Henry can taste it—planting his heels in the boards, holding Henry in place with a biting kiss and thrusting up.
“Yours,” Alex licks into Henry’s mouth and Henry eagerly accepts the languid swipe of tongue, following after it, and keeping the kiss heavy and involved. It’s slick and soft sighs play over the desperate noises of their fucking, pleased smiles over mean thrusts. In the pull-away, Alex drenches the little space between them with hard breaths, “Let them see that I’m yours.”
Henry’s. This lovely, unforeseen, and positively delectable man. All his.
“Mine,” Henry gasps, caught lapping at the rabbiting-pulse under Alex’s salted stubble just as Alex screws in with an off-rhythm that hits his prostate. “Fuck, yes. There. Fuck, Alex, please.”
“Always take care of you. And you’re mine, too, aren’t you.” Alex tells him, no room for a question as he claims Henry, shoving in faster and bucking so hard that Henry is forced to agree in forced out pants, gagged half-answers. At his ear, Alex’s words are humid-hot and urgent, absolute in between frantic kisses, “They can see how good you look stuffed with my cock but they don’t get this.” An affection meant for a scene less straightforward than a summer fling enters and curls Henry’s ribcage in, “They don’t get to know how tight you get and how fucking sweet you taste, especially when you’re close. God, you’re fucking rutting. You close, baby?”
And Henry doesn’t even have to say anything, Alex knows him so well now. Almost instantly, Alex’s fist is unrelenting around his cock, tugging weak-kneed moans out of him, whimpers to be fucked and touched and love, there—don’t stop.
When Henry comes, it’s a hard shudder into orgasm, the sort that ripples through him, violently rearranges his bones and blanks-out his sight. Smearing their stomachs with a clinging white, he clamps down on Alex’s cock, keeping it like a part of himself even after Alex profanely fucks his own hot mess deep into Henry—unwilling to let even a drop of him go.
--
yes, i was goaded into this by the people magazine photoshoot.

my patreon suggestion thread
Since I'm gonna closeout my patreon, I wanted to take my suggestions thread and make it public for other CC creators to look over and consider for stuff to make! Some of this stuff has already been made by now but it would definitely be cool to see the rest. (i'm copy pasting each of these comments, thus weird wording possibly and repetition)
there's a lot of good ideas here and i'd hate for them to just be thanos snapped out of existence
I would be happy about proper gaiters or different types of bridles. the same about ultra long manes.
Dressage poses would be lovely!
Idk if that's possible, but maybe try to override the barrels with orange cones to make it a little less western?
Riding boots and spurs! Bridles, boots/bandages for horses, breastplates
Saddle-shaped numnahs (and just more numnahs in general)
Bridle racks with/without bridles
Halters (hung up, as acessories, different colours, with/without wool covers etc etc)
Saddle wall racks
Equine first aid box?
Feed and water buckets (large and small - the flexible tub ones that are mostly used nowadays)
Black feed bins
Wall salt licks
Filled hay nets (floor and wall option)
Turnout rugs and stable rugs, but hung up (I've currently just upsized the dressing gowns lol)
High-vis accessories
Hung-up high vis sim jackets?
Sim ankle riding boots
Feed supplement tubs (turmeric, garlic, etc) as decor and in simlish
I think barn clutter would be great, we got like three barn clutter items in the pack haha. I'm hoping to see other mane and tail styles and more CAS items showing up soon too!
Could you make an Australian Stock Saddle
maybe more saddle textures, and hitching posts
rugs/turnout blankets
helmet that doesn't remove hair
different style jumps
decor objects for goats like the platforms they would play on irl and low watering troughs. They gave us nothing for them :/
English riding clothes for show and practice
better polo wraps and sport boots
salt lick in a feed tub on the ground for out in the pasture
different functional horse ball toys
saddle and pad racks for the wall of a few different saddle styles
more standing saddle racks of different saddle styles
bridle rack
functional hay and water troughs in more modern styles
stacks of buckets
manure pile
items you'd find in a wash stall
more styles for mane and tail (a proper running braid for show would be nice)
more horse-obsessed BB and CAS for toddlers and children
Hairstyles, new English saddles (nice dressage and jumping saddles), saddle pads, track points, a slider to adjust the size of the horse would be cool too
random coat colors for foals and not looking exactly like their parents. I have no idea how you would fix this but it is my biggest annoyance in this game!
dressage saddles! new saddle pads!
realistic manes or turnout stuff
I love everything Western! I would love a few free-hanging western saddles/ bridles and also a saddle pad rack with only western pads! Maybe a few sponges/flyspray/shampoo bottles.
Perhaps leg wraps and english saddle pads that are matching? Like Lemieux and the sorts. Hanging horse blankets / horse racks that hold blankets. Vet objects, like syringes, creams, vetwraps and little objects for a first aid kit :)
please make a stable rug/ turn out rug/ riding rug :D
I though of something while i was sitting here building a jumping course. A little pile with poles neatly put together to place outside the arena on the ground for some esthetic purposes
I would love another short tail! :)
Ah and maybe those silly little horse mustaches lolol? :,D
Girth holders on walls, hanging rugs, bridle holders. Saddle soap / spray, conditioner :)
Maybe a halter for foals?
i know ive said this before but bridle hangers and saddle holders & maybe maxis match hay stacks so we don't have to pile it up ourselves with the debug hay bale and maybe more different swatches for the hay rug from the ranch pack? bc thats only 2 in 2 different colors
Stall doors please!
Western / Red Dead Redemption inspired tack and saddles
bell boots would be amazing!, and barn clutter, like helmets, gloves, english tall riding boots.
I'd love to see some foal accseries if you could figure that out, other then that rop halters are sorely lacking
I'd love to see a breastplate for the saddle and a double reined bridle

Hey!! I might board my horse soon for the first time ever and I know absolutely nothing about picking a boarding facility. Do you have any tips on things to look for/look out for? Thank you!
Hi Nonnie! I know that stress lol. I can definitely talk about what makes a quality facility vs one you're better off avoiding.
First off is cleanliness- do the stalls smell fresh, or like ammonia? Is there plenty of bedding? Are buckets and troughs clean or gross and slimy? (If it's the middle of summer, troughs might be a bit green, but the water should still be relatively clear and free of any floating scum). Are pastures more poop than grass? Is the aisle tidy and clear of any potential hazards? Are the fences, walls, stalls, roof, etc in good repair? No nails sticking out, broken boards, holes in the roof. If there's an arena, is it maintained? No big holes or divots, picked, dragged, fence and any jumps or other equipment in good condition.
Second is welfare- do the horses all have plenty of hay and clean water? Are the majority of them free of injuries and in a good body condition? If you see any being handled, does their halter or other tack fit correctly and is whoever's handling them doing it in a calm and kind manner? Do they seem relaxed or stressed and/or worried?
If they have a lesson program, ask to watch a few lessons. See how they teach, if any unkindness towards the horses is tolerated. It's a good metric for the kind of employee behavior that'll be permitted when the horses are being handled day to day.
I'd also ask to see the feed room. Is it clean, is grain and hay stored properly and free from funky smells, dampness, mold, etc? What does their feeding board (if they have one, not all barns do) look like?
Ask how often and how much they feed (both hay and grain), how much turnout the horses have, whether blanketing is included or an extra charge. I'd also ask whether you have to provide your own hay and grain if they don't provide that information up front and if you do, how do they ensure it doesn't get mixed up with other people's?
What steps do they take to make sure tack and other valuables don't go missing as well? Tack lockers and/or a pin pad on the tack room door are acceptable to me personally, though I prefer individual lockers tbh.

Who Makes the Best Turnout Blankets for Horses?
Who Makes the Best Turnout Blankets for Horses? especially those who live in colder regions, it is important to have a good turnout blanket for their animals. These blankets are designed to keep horses warm and dry during the winter months and are available in a variety of styles and sizes. One of the best choices for owners is a blanket made from waterproof and breathable materials that allow the horse to regulate their body temperature without getting too hot or too cold. Another important consideration is the fit of the blanket, as a poorly fitting blanket can cause rubbing and discomfort for the horse. It is also important to choose a blanket with a high denier rating, which means it is made from a stronger and more durable fabric. Some of the best options on the market include the Rambo Wug Turnout Blanket, the Weatherbeeta ComFiTec Ultra Cozi Detach-A-Neck Heavy Duty Turnout Blanket, and the Amigo Bravo 12 Turnout Blanket. With the right turnout blanket, owners can ensure their horses stay warm, dry, and comfortable all winter long.

How Do You Know When & When Not To Blanket Your Horse?
When the temperature starts to drop at night during early autumn and the time for us to bring our winter clothes out of the trunks, horse owners, too, get into the dilemma of whether or not their horses need a blanket. Well, luckily for them, there are numerous blanketing options available for horses, and different factors play a vital role in making this decision. However, it is quite easy for horse owners to get intimidated while trying to decide which blanket to use and when. But you do not have to worry about a thing because we, at Ride Every Stride, have brought to you this blog to help you make an informed decision as to what type of blanket to use for your horse. If you are certain that you are providing fresh water and hay to your horse, the heat produced by its digestive system and the natural shield of its thick hair coat is most likely to keep it comfortable even in the coldest of weather. Read further to learn more.
Rules You Must Follow
1. Clipped Vs. Unclipped
The blanketing needs of your horse depend on whether or not it has been body-clipped.
● Full-Clipped
A full clip removes the hair of your horse’s body, leaving you with the option of leaving its legs unclipped. Doing this eliminates any natural protection and warmth the horse’s thick hair coat could offer. In such a case, the minimum you can use is a sheet when the temperature dips down to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.
● Unclipped
Horses who are in good weight, healthy, and have not been clipped during the winter or fall do not need a blanket as they have built insulation. Their hair coat puffs up naturally when it is cold, wrapping up in body heat. However, this rule must not be followed when it is wet outside. A little snow or rain is not something you need to worry about, but when the precipitation starts saturating the hair coat, the hair will no longer fluff up to keep your horse warm. It will also have a hard time staying warm if its coat is dirty, so the key is to groom your horse regularly.
● Trace-Clipped
A trace clip is used for the removal of the hair from the belly, chest, and lower parts of the neck as well as the flank. Trace clipping keeps your horse from excessive sweating while riding, at the same time, leaving some of your horse’s winter hair coat to provide warmth when resting. Whatever part of your horse you clip, you must make sure to put it back on by blanketing.
2. Types Of Blanket/Sheet
The collection of horseware blankets for winter offers a wide range of options, but you can simplify your choices with three essential pieces: horse riding equipment, horseware blankets, or a heavy turnout blanket. A medium turnout blanket is also handy to have on hand. Additionally, using a medium stable sheet and a horse blanket provides similar warmth and coverage, as long as the stable blanket has two belly straps for a secure fit. Keep in mind that turnout blankets and sheets are versatile enough for both indoor and outdoor use, while stable blankets lack waterproofing and are best suited for indoor use only — unless topped with a waterproof layer when used outside.
3. Weather Conditions
When you determine how the weather conditions factor into your blanketing needs, you must also consider your horse’s primary living arrangements. For instance, the wind is not something to worry about for stabled horses. Some horse owners even have barn doors that close up snugly, therefore allowing their horse’s body heat to keep the barn cozy and comfortable. In the case of wind, you must know that wind makes weather conditions colder. So, if our horse does not have a shelter in its field, you have to consider the wind chills and blanket it according to the temperature.
In the case of freezing rain or snow, you must consider keeping your horse inside the stable. Apart from being unbearably cold, such weather conditions can make it pretty challenging for horses to stay warm as it can soak their coats.
Bottom Line!
Although horse owners would naturally hate the idea of their horses being cold, it is quite dangerous to over-blanket them. So, you need to stay away from such practices at all costs. Now that we have officially entered the winter season and the temperature is dropping down with each day passing by, you must take a good look at your horse’s blanketing requirements. We, at Ride Every Stride, have introduced a new range of horse blankets as per your needs. You can also shop for top equestrian clothing brands from our online store. Visit our online store today and pick out what’s best for your horse.
