"What do you want driver to do, take a saw and cut us in half?"
Mac has never regretted his words more than he does now. Don't worry though, no MightyMacs were actually harmed! It was all just a bad dream... probably. ;P On that note, Happy Halloween everyone! <3
Wanted to draw something spooky for the season and since I've still got MightyMac on the brain, they were the unfortunate victim. x"D Nothing too over-the-top, of course, but it's fun to get a little more spooky every now and then >:3 Separation is 100% one of their greatest fears, not bc they neccessarily enjoy being stuck together forever but because they don't know what would happen. And not knowing is always scarier, isn't it? Spooks aside, I hope y'all have a great Halloween however you celebrate (and even if you don't!) <3 I know I'm gonna be hanging with my bestie and prolly eating lotttss of candy LMAO maybe going out we'll see BONUS DOODLE!
Tumblr media
And it was all just a bad dream. xD Welp, no more horror movies for Mac! Not for a looong time LOL
With that, enjoy the art! <3 And Happy Halloween everyone! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MightyMac (c) TTTE Art (c) Me! <3

AU Narrow Gauge food time!
The refreshment lady that Peter Sam helped (Called "Ms. Dowley") is retired. She is a volunteer worker who works for the Skarloey railway. When she gets taken around (usually in her café car, but occasionally in the cab) she will have her café car dropped off in a siding at the picnic site. She then sells themed food and drinks about the engine who drove them there!
Duncan: Duncan's Donuts (They're lemon custard filled) Skarloey: Strawberry cheesecake Rheneas: Raspberry cheesecake Peter Sam: Red Leicester and Spring Onion toastie (The drink included is Orange water (Both is by his request)) Falcon: While he should have a blueberry cream cheese puff pastry, he's notoriously hated so now he has a can of plain water Bertram: While he is a rarer engine for trips, Warriors Waffles with Watermelon Mighty Mac: Mango Macaroons sealed together in pairs with icing
While she did have other idea, they don't run passenger services. The other ideas were
Rusty (Mainly used for maintenance now): Orange trifle Freddie(Used in workmen moving): Tiramisu Duke (In a museum. This food is now served in the museum café): Tuna mayonnaise and cucumber sandwiches, Fruit scones, and Cream (Gran)Puffs
Lady and Proteus also have their own foods based off of them! They are only made for the festivals for those engines (Proteus is Winter Solstice and Lady is Summer Solstice. The festivals are mainly used to show off the history and folklore of the mountains though)
Proteus: Hot chocolate with Gold sprinkles in, Spiced Rum, Fruitcake with those gold balls on it Lady: Blackberry juice, bread and butter pudding

what do the narrow gauge engines want for Christmas
Skarloey: a lovely winter run with talyllyn.
Rheneas: a sword. I don't know what I would do with a sword, maybe hang it up in my cab maybe? or I can just settle with rocks. rocks are fun.
Sir Handel: George in pieces, gift wrapped separately, each rivet, each nut, and each screw, every single part of George, all wrapped up, and presented to me on a flatbed with Christmas lights and ribbons. I don't want to see a single piece of George together. I want to he him dismantled piece by piece, and then gift wrapped
Peter Sam: I don't know, maybe a hot plate of fish and chips for my driver? but a nice coat of paint would be fine, and a new whistle.
Duncan: a new fancy stereo system for the shed, and a nose piercing.
Rusty: a flamethrower for the weeds along the track would be nice. and a rotary snowplow meant for narrow gauge.
Duke: his grace would like a nice warm jacket.
Freddie: I do remember a little line that cuts through the mountains that would make for a nice scenic route for the passengers. maybe a restoration of any old line that I choose?
Mighty mac: separation surgery.
Luke: I just want to meet Santa's reindeer.
Ivo Hugh: hang on, I thought Proteus was the one who gave us gifts, why am I just hearing this now? I just had my driver send my letter to proteus! is it too late to write one to Santa!?

I'll add Mighty Mac and Freddie just in case.
If it wasn't obvious enough, Sir Handel, Skarloey and Duncan are my favourite narrow gauge engines. I love all of them though, for different reasons (apart from Mighty Mac and Freddie, they don't do very much for me).
I'll put an other category for characters such as Bertram and Smudger. If you'd like to, you can specify or say why your favourite is your favourite.
(I have voted to see the results. I don't know how to see them any other way).

Hi! It's me again! I love love LOVEEE what you did with the Bill and Ben prompt! It was so unexpectedly wholesome, the characterization was so GOOD, AGHH! It had me smiling so much!! It really made my day, thank you for using it!! <3 And if it's okay, I'd like to suggest another prompt! This time a lesser known character I've had on the mind lately; MightyMac! I'd love to see what silly lil things they might get up to, especially with the other Skarloey Railway engines. :D Be it good, bad, chaotic, or anything inbetween lol!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Thunder <3 And Mighty Mac themself is such an interesting character!! Great choice!
(If you have a prompt that you think I should do or want to see previous prompts, take a look here!)
Mighty and Mac were widely considered by the other Skarloey Railway engines to be something of a strange duo. Not in a bad way, truthfully, but they were proof that sometimes, two heads were not necessarily better than one.
This was especially apparent when they struggled to coordinate whose idea to follow in any given situation; although the twins had long ago come to the consensus that whichever of them was facing forward should be solely responsible for driving, that didn't stop the other from chiming in with suggestions and pouting when their advice was ignored. (Oddly enough, the same seemed to apply to when they told stories.) Even worse, they could sometimes be paralyzed by their opposing viewpoints, leading to neither of them getting anywhere fast—particularly in the literal sense.
However, for being such oddballs, they also had some particularly special talents. Given that one of them was always facing the coaches (or trucks) and had naught to concentrate on but what they and the passengers were saying, both of the twins had developed a stellar memory, as well as a wide vocabulary to match. To compliment this, the two also had quite the ear for gossip, and had plenty of information, both interesting and utterly inane, to share with their fellows when night fell.
More important, however, was their strength; despite their bizarre construction, their actual motive power was quite impressive, and it was this quality that gave them their most important job on the Skarloey Railway.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sir Handel had been having a bad day. The skies above were gray with the threat of rain, and every truck in his line of five was being noisy, cackling and giggling. "Rain, rain! Come our way! Let us splish and splash and swaaaaaaay!"
"Oh, stuff a lump in it, you lot!" Sir Handel snarled, trying to hide his worry beneath a veneer of annoyance. Increasing his pace, the little blue engine's eyes drifted up to peer at the ominous skies, nibbling lightly at his lip as his crew sported similarly nervous expressions.
He had just gotten through that worrisome tunnel between Rheneas station and Glennock when a boom of thunder rocked the skies. As though taking that as their cue, raindrops began to fall; lightly at first, but then with increased intensity, quickly bathing the rails below him. His crew quickly began sanding the rails in front of him as Sir Handel squinted to see through the storm, speeding up a little bit more. Unfortunately, that speed proved to be their detriment against the force of chaos that was the trucks.
"YAAAAAAAAY!" the foolish trucks cheered, gleefully rocking around. "It's wet! It's wet! And this is what you'll get!" As Sir Handel turned a curve, the trucks suddenly swerved hard into the bend, causing them to tip over. Unfortunately, their momentum, along with Sir Handel's own, was more than enough to cause him to tip as well, making him land onto his side with a crash as his crew jumped clear.
"Oughhhhh," the No. 3 groaned, eyes bleary as his vision readjusted. His smokebox felt like it was full of fluff, his thoughts refusing to order themselves, and the cackling of the trucks was starting to give him a migraine.
"Hold tight, lad," his driver urged as the two of them approached, giving their engine a quick once-over. "I'll go call for help, while Simon here stays with you. The breakdown crane will be here before you know it!"
Sir Handel would normally make more of a fuss, but in this moment, he was cold, tired, and achy, so all he managed was a brief "Hurry up," his words barely audible over the din of the rain.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Earlier that day, Mighty and Mac had been helping out in the yard at Crovan's Gate, happily shunting about. As much as they enjoyed pulling passengers at times, shunting was definitely where their strengths laid, and with them today was Peter Sam, who'd been helping them out before his next train was scheduled to depart. Although the rain had started to come down, none of the engines were terribly bothered; as annoying as rain could be, it wouldn't stop them from carrying out their tasks.
"So, have either of you heard any interesting stories lately?" Peter Sam asked, a smile on his face and his tone inquiring. After all, there was nothing better than a good story to help pass the time and combat some of the gloomy atmosphere.
"Oh, yes!" Mighty grinned as the duo shunted a tanker into place. "I heard this one from the Refreshment Lady. She—"
"Did you know that her daughter is married to your driver?" Mac cut in smoothly, causing Mighty to sigh.
"I... no," Peter Sam replied, eyes wide with surprise. "I don't think I did."
"ANYWAY, as I was saying," Mighty emphasized, sending a glower over to nobody in particular, although it was clearly meant for Mac. "The Refreshment Lady heard from her daughter's husband's best friend's son's schoolmate's mother that this dog Lucille—"
"Lucille is a chihuahua, about 7 years old."
"Do you mind, Mac? I'm the one spinning the yarn here!"
"Well, you shouldn't omit the details!"
"I wasn't going to, you—"
Peter Sam considered interrupting for all of five seconds before deciding against it. He'd just get the story later in the sheds that night. However, just as he was about to resume the shunting and let the duo sort things out on their ends, there was a commotion as the Crovan's Gate stationmaster ran towards them.
"Mighty Mac! Sir Handel's come off the rails just past Glennock. Bring the breakdown crane!"
All at once, like a switch had been flipped, the Double Fairlie suddenly went quiet, Mighty's brow furrowing into a look of deep determination. "On it! C'mon, Mac!"
"Right!" his other half chorused, and without a moment of delay, the duo were off, coupling themself to the breakdown crane.
"We're off!" Mighty whistled, Mac's whistle echoing, and Peter Sam could only look on in amazement as the twins took off.
"I can never get used to that," Peter Sam stared on in wonder, and beside him, the stationmaster could only shake his head in amazement.
"With the way those two usually bicker, neither can I!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The duo picked up a small group of workers, including Sir Handel's driver, at Glennock, heading up to proceed with their rescue. "Alright, Mighty!" Mac called. "You remember the way?"
"Yep!" Mighty confirmed, his gaze focused forward as his crew kept watch. Behind him, Mac also kept careful eyes on the track, ensuring that there would be nothing to hinder their way back down.
Soon enough, they reached the groaning mess that was Sir Handel, and the men quickly alighted from the crane's cab to get the poor engine straightened and coupled up to the train. Once he was settled, the trucks were swiftly righted and coupled up behind him. As the workers straightened things up, Sir Handel's exhausted eyelids cracked open, allowing him to behold his rescue party. "Finally. Took you two long enough."
"Yes, yes," Mighty replied, his smile serene and unbothered by the tired jab. "Alright, we'll take you back to Crovan's Gate. Mac, you're up."
"Finally!" the other twin grinned, and without delay, the men all boarded the crane, and the entire cavalcade headed for home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It didn't take the group long to get back, and as Sir Handel was deposited at the works, the trucks dropped off, and the crane shunted back into its proper place, Mighty Mac returned to the sheds amidst a chorus of cheers.
"Well done, you two!" Skarloey complimented. "It never ceases to amaze me how well you both manage the breakdown crane."
"He's right!" Peter Sam laughed. "You both were bickering one moment, then off on a rescue the next! It was quite impressive, actually!"
"Hahaha!" Mighty laughed, his expression warm as he glanced back toward his twin. "Well, as difficult as Mac can be sometimes, we're stuck together, so we may as well make the best of it. There's no engine I trust more than him."
The assembled engines were all smiles at Mighty's statement, and from behind him came Mac's voice: "He's right. We didn't ask for this, but he's my brother, and I trust him too."
There was a beat of tender, comfortable silence, which was then abruptly shattered by Mac's follow-up:
"At least... with the important things."
All at once, Mighty's happy expression turned as stormy as the weather outside. "And just what's that supposed to mean?!"
"You know exactly what it means, you—"
As the twins resumed their regular, albeit good-natured bickering, the other engines in the shed couldn't help but laugh. As silly as their fellows could often be—and over the most trivial things, no less—there were few engines more reliable in a pinch than the twins called Mighty and Mac.

Question for your Mimics AU: I've noticed your diesel OC has a catdog thing going on. Is it common for diesel mimics to grow two heads or is Edmundo just a one off like Mighty Mac?
I wouldn't call them one-offs. It's actually very common for mimics to be born with two heads. Or rather, it used to be common, and then there was a resurgence in the modern era once humans stopped seeing mimics as nuisances that had to be dealt with.
Back in the day, when humans still hated them, two-headed mimics were driven to near extinction because they were easier targets for mass scale mimic cullings. It makes sense really. When you have two heads that have their own personalities, thoughts and feelings, it's hard enough to agree on where to go on a good day, so suddenly finding yourselves the target of malicious humans didn't do you any favours... (Very often the panicked two-headed mimics would have each head try to run in the direction they faced, which would either trip them up or even injure them in the process).
Two-headed mimics became so rare that, at some point, even other mimics started doubting they existed at all. I mean, how could such a being exist really? Two heads with two separate brains? In one body? What did the rest of the organ arrangement look like? Did they have two separate vesicula magica or did they share the one? Where was their cloaca placed? What did their eggs look like? Did they even have pouches?
This isn't even taking into account that over-hunting them essentially made them into the white whale of the Hunter's Guild Association, with many experienced mimic hunters obsessing over finding, killing, and taxidermize themselves a fully grown true form two-headed mimic.
But those were different, much darker, times...
Nowadays the two-headed mimic population has boomed once more, with the advent of the mimic-human truce that's flourished between both sides of the conflict. And, as technology has advanced, two-headed mimics have begun to seek out diesel, diesel-electrics and electric engines as their preferred forms due to their dual-cab designs.
There are a few who go for other alternatives. Like Mighty Mac who chose a Double Fairlie steam engine instead, or Judy and Jerome who picked a set of breakdown cranes.

The odd duo of the Skarloey, here's MightyMac! :D If there's two things that I'm an absolute sucker for it's a) Sibling (or sibling vibe) characters, and b) Secondary/background characters that don't have a ton of development. And this funky little double-fairlie fits right in! xD So here's a little doodle of them!! ^^ Separate pictures and headcanons below the cut ~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
~ Headcanons ~
-Pronouns for both are He/Him They/Them -Their original name was Little Giant, but they eventually adopted the names Mighty and Mac, then later started going by "MightyMac" as it was easier. (Though unless you're addressing them both, which is relatively common, they do prefer their individual names.)
-They are the only known Double-Fairlie that has two distinct personalities (double-fairlies are typically one engine just with two faces, similar to the Culdee Fell engines).
-They were originally loaned to the Skarloey just to help with the Summer Rush, and after a disastrous first day, the two learned from their mistakes and ended up becoming quite an asset to the railway. So much so that Mr. Percival did end up keeping them permanently.
-They mostly do goods work, hauling heavy slate trains and the like, but do enjoy a passenger run every now and then.
-Mighty is older then Mac, though it's not entirely clear why. -They used to believe that they looked exactly the same; they were quite shocked to find out that they did not, in fact, look much alike at all LOL
-They do not like turntables at all. (Especially not after the turntable fiasco on their first day xD)
-They each have control over their respective "half" of the engine, but absolutely no control over the other half. This has made cooperation an absolute must for them, but they still have petty squabbles every now and then.
-Mac is more of the "leader" of the duo, tending to take charge more then Mighty. Even when he's not riding in front, he'll usually be the one telling Mighty where to go and what to do.
Mighty is generally reserved and gentle, not super talkative, but always happy to listen and help out however he can. He cares deeply for others but can be quite hard on himself. He also has no sense of direction whatsoever and often turns to Mac for guidance more then vice versa.
Mac, on the other hand, is very extroverted and will absolutely talk all day if you let him. He's more calculated and logical compared to Mighty, but can get a bit agitated when dealing with more complex or "illogical" things. Feelings are not his strong suit and he can be quite blunt, but he genuinely mean well.
Aaaand that's it! I think I've done enough rambling for one day x"D If you made it all the way through, I'd love to hear y'alls headcanons/theories/thoughts etc. on this odd little duo! :D I think there's a lot to explore with them and would love to see what others think!! But that's all for now! Enjoy! <3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Art (c) Me! MightyMac (c) TTTE

Mac was a lucky engine to survive, however, cos his twin is now infected, he has to be stuck with a monster. But, Mighty doesn't have full control over their body. Mac does. Mr. Percival: alright everyone, a lady from an advertisement company is here to help us shoot our next promotional advertisement.
The lady: here is my idea, there was this ad done by this travel company to promote visiting Scotland, in the video, the dressed little Shetland ponies in cardigans,
The lady: because engines are referred to as “iron horses” and ponies are small horses and you’re all small, I think we should do an advertisement where we dress you all up in sweaters! “Iron ponies in sweaters!”
The lady: *holds up a bunch of sweaters*
Skarloey: :O
Rheneas: :O
Sir Handel: >:O
Peter Sam: :D
Rusty: : D
Duncan: 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

Mighty Mac: O: :O
