In TTC how does Tom react to Draco's nightmares after they get together? Cuz in the begining ( the firt TTC ff ) he just puts on a silencing charm and turns away. But in Bluebeard in the end of the second chapter:

“It’s alright,” Tom said, using the same gentle voice as he did when comforting Draco after nightmares. “It’s alright. You’re safe now.” Blood was dripping from his shirt. 

Which. First of all is a beautiful paragraph and was an absolutely perfect ending to the chapter. And secondly, i interpreted that as the fact that Tom regularly comforted Draco from nightmares? Something along those lines, and i am wondering if i interpreted it correct or not?

And in the last chapter of Bluebeard you write:

" Draco had nightmares more frequently than ever, waking three times each night crying out in fear. It was the only time he allowed Tom to touch him, drawing him close and whispering promises of safety in his ear. He allowed Draco to cling, stroking his back with a warm palm. It was comforting yet devastating. 

Before what he was now secretly calling ‘the Greengrass incident’, Tom had never been so quick to offer proper physical comfort... "

So does that mean that he still did offer comfort, physical or other, before the incident?

Also side question that kinda goes into the same lane as the first one, does comforting Draco just kinda come naturally to Tom? Or does he just really think through it while not understanding why Draco is like that? Cuz how i am thinking, since Tom is very emotionally immature, he wouldnt really understand how to deal with that, or simply not understand the actual weight his comforting words carry, weather he means them or not...?

So, the scene that is being referred back to in Bluebeard Chapter 3 is actually this one from Chapter 1:

Draco dreamt of snakes under the cold moonlight; white as bone with eyes glinting ruby-red in their skulls. They twisted up his legs and he stood frozen, unable to stop them. There was the sigh of parseltongue in the air as they wrapped tighter around his chest till he couldn’t take a breath, grinding his bones together.

He woke curled into a ball, gasping for air. There was a shadow looming over him and Draco tensed, certain down to his soul that he was in danger. But he looked up and the feeling passed. It was only Tom. 

“He won’t leave me alone,” Draco muttered, voice cracking higher with hysteria. “He won’t ever leave me alone.”

Gentle but firm, Tom stilled Draco with a hand on his wrist. When he looked down he saw that he’d been scratching at the Dark Mark. There was blood on the sheets. 

“No one’s going to hurt you,” he said.  Draco felt the helpless urge to believe anything he said when he used that voice, so steady and self-assured. Yet he knew Tom had no idea what was coming. No matter how brilliant he was, he was still a poor boy with a Muggle father and regardless of what ideology he spouted, Voldemort didn’t even care about purebloods. Anyone who thought otherwise was a fool.

In the growing light of dawn, having sat with Draco for hours and listened patiently to his paranoid ramblings, Tom asked, “Would you go back to him if he rose again? Pledge your allegiance to the Dark Lord?”

Draco tensed against his side and tried to pull away, but Tom didn’t let him, a firm hand on his arm. He never hugged Draco, never offered more than the warmth of his body by his side. It had always felt closer to tolerance than comfort. It was only when Draco tried to leave that he ever felt that Tom wanted him to stay. 

“Don’t—don’t ask me things like that,” he said wretchedly, twisting his sleeve. “You know I’d have to.”

“So, you’d join Lord Voldemort just to save your own skin?”

“Don’t say his name! And not just my skin, you idiot. What do you think he’d do to a half-blood like you if we didn’t stand with him?” 

Tom’s expression softened. “You’re worried about me?” He sounded amused. Draco wanted to punch him.

Draco feels starved for affection from Tom and it feeds into his insecurities, hence it's devastating to him that Tom only begins to show that reciprocal physical affection for him once their relationship has been entirely upended by Draco learning (or rather, acknowledging) that he is Voldemort.

And on whether it comes naturally to Tom — absolutely not lol. Being in a relationship is more challenging to him than every year of Hogwarts combined. Exhibit A: when he couldn't understand why a blowjob wouldn't smooth over Draco's fears of him having slaughtered the Muggle owners of the mansion they were squatting in.

Draco: I'm obviously not in the mood?????

Tom: But it's a blowjob? 🤨

Tom really isn't naturally good with people (source: 11 y.o. Tom). He's just highly intelligent and observant and references the behaviour of others in order to act 'normal'. Romantic relationships are thus uniquely challenging for him as much of these sorts of relationships are private, behind closed doors, and hence more difficult for him to observe and imitate. Tom is trying to draw on his own life experience, which I've also spoken about here, but his life has been incredibly lacking in love and intimacy prior to this point. Draco has a difficult time understanding this oftentimes, as he has never lacked people who love and care for him.

I saw this post by @annabelh and I tagged a bunch of things but tags aren’t enough for me sometimes

People’s discourse on Bianca di Angelo always implies she’s stable in her role as Nico’s sole caretaker (the examples people give ‘I’ve always had to take care of my younger siblings...’ support that) That’s not necessarily true in the di Angelos’ case

Bianca was only Nico’s mum figure for less than a year: Maria didn’t sound like a negligent mother, the casino doesn’t count, and they were ‘orphaned’ little time before Hades sent them there

Bianca was totally unbalanced in that role, which is a huge role to take on (you can actually see she’s rather exasperated at points, more like a sister than a mother)

Ofc she’ll take whatever chance to have someone else gain the upper hand on Nico’s upbringing, bc while it’s partially her responsability (and I’d say that if she was an older brother, too) it’s not her job

I commented a few weeks ago re her bared shoulders at TTC saying that it showed she had zero clue what the BRF was about. Her barging through the chairs like a Commando on manoeuvres showed she didn’t learn any more since. She lacks manners and basic decorum.

Trying to Conceive Acronyms and Abbreviation Guide

When you understand infertility acronyms and abbreviations, it can make you feel like you're "in the know." You share a language that only other TTCers can understand. (TTC stands for trying-to-conceive.)

But when you're new to this language of fertility, they can make you feel like an outsider. Here's how to understand it all. Use this guide, with links to definitions when available, to help you get started with IF/TTC forum and social media speak.

ACOG: American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

AF: Aunt Flow or Flo, also known as your period. (Outside of infertility circles, AF stands for "as f#%k" ... which really is just as appropriate from a trying to conceive context!)

AWOL: A Woman on Lupron, referring to the mood swings that sometimes accompany this fertility drug.

BD: Baby Dance, a reference to having sexual intercourse during on your most fertile days; OR, Baby Dust, a sort of good wishes or good luck phrase meant to hope you get pregnant.

Beta: A pregnancy test that measures the levels of hCG (pregnancy hormone) via blood work.

BFN: Big Fat Negative, refers to a negative pregnancy test.

BFP: Big Fat Positive, refers to a positive pregnancy test.

BOB: Baby on the Brain, or thinking about having a baby all the time.

BV: Baby Vibes, same thing as Baby Dust, something you "give" to someone in hopes they'll get pregnant.

CB: Cycle Buddy, someone who either started the cycle with you, ovulated around the same time as you, or is planning to take a pregnancy test at about the same time as you.

CCCT, or CCT: Clomiphene Citrate Challenge Test, a fertility test.

CD: Cycle Day, a reference to the days of a treatment cycle or any menstrual cycle when trying to conceive. CD 3 would be the third day after your period starts.

CM, or CF: Cervical Mucus or Cervical Fluid, a topic you may have never imagined talking about, but in a fertility forum, may find yourself chatting about with unexpected enthusiasm. In detail, no less!

CL: Cover Line, refers to a line drawn on a body basal temperature chart. Temperatures "above the cover line" occur after ovulation.

CP: Cervical Position, another topic you probably never imagined talking about with strangers.

CY#: Cycle Number, since TTC or since starting a treatment.

DI: Donor Insemination, as you would have with IUI along with a sperm donor.

DTD: Doing the Deed, or Doing the Dance, a reference to sex.

DPR: Days Past Retrieval, or the number of days since you've had the oocyte (egg) retrieval during IVF treatment.

DPT: Days Past Transfer, or the number of days after embryo transfer in an IVF treatment or embryo donation cycle.

E2: Estradiol, a hormone sometimes measured during fertility testing and treatment.

EWCM: Egg White Cervical Mucus, or the most fertile kind of cervical mucus.

FET: Frozen Embryo Transfer, referring to an IVF cycle using previously frozen embryos that have been thawed and then transferred.

FF: Fertility Friend, referring to the charting website FertilityFriend.com.

FM: Fertility Monitor, used to detect ovulation at home.

GIFT: Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer, a form of assisted reproductive treatment.

HPT: Home Pregnancy Test, like what you buy at the drug store.

HOM: High Order Multiples, a pregnancy with three or more babies.

IF, or IFer: Infertility or a reference to someone with infertility.

IPS: Imaginary Pregnancy Symptoms, when you feel pregnant but you're not.

PCO, PCOS, or PCOD: Polycystic Ovaries, or Polycystic Ovary Syndrome/Disease.

PI: Primary Infertility, or infertility without any previously born children.

POF, or POI: Premature Ovarian Failure, or Primary Ovarian Insufficiency.

POAS: Pee On A Stick, or take a pregnancy test at home.

RE: Reproductive Endocrinologist, a kind of fertility specialist.

RI: Reproductive Immunologist, another kind of fertility specialist.

STIMS: Stimulating Hormones, usually referring to injectable fertility drugs like gonadotropins.

SOD: Sex on Demand, or sex on schedule or during fertility treatment.

TCOYF: Taking Charge of Your Fertility, a book by Toni Weschler on fertility awareness.

TMI: Too Much Information, something fertility forum goers don't seem to shy away from too often!

ZIFT: Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer, a kind of assisted reproductive treatment.

Fertility forums, social media circles, and other online support groups can be a huge help when you're coping with infertility. Online fertility buddies can help you feel understood and less lonely. That said, when you're new to fertility forums, the lingo and terminology can make you feel left out at first.

The good news is you'll likely learn the new abbreviations quickly, and learn to appreciate them as they'll save you typing time! In the meantime, if you're not sure why a forum member wants to be your CB and is urging you to BD, don't be shy about asking what they mean. Everyone was a newbie at some point and understands what it's like to feel clueless.

Pretty sure I o’d on CD 21. FF gave me crosshairs on CD 18. I wasn’t sure I believed it. We last had sex pre-o on CD 19 and i told DH we should be good. If we had one more “every other day” we would have possibly hit the mark directly.

So it’s likely I’m only 10 dpo today. If so I’m not out yet but really just so over this cycle, it feels endless.

Comment 599 277 € d’argent public viennent d’être réduits à l’état de ... poussières ? Les contribuables de l’agglomération grenobloise sont actuellement parmi les plus imposés de France. Mais le gaspillage de l’argent public est aussi l’un des records de France. Prenons l’exemple du projet de planétarium mondial sur Le Pont de Claix (15 M€ pour sa construction). Où est-il construit ? Sur le site des Moulins de Villancourt. A quoi correspond ce site ? A la fin des années 80, les Moulins de Villancourt (propriété alors en indivision de Pont de Claix et Echirolles) ont fait l’objet d’une totale remise en état sous l’autorité d’une commission syndicale présidée par M Arvin-Bérod. Le programme a consisté à réaliser 3 salles d’expositions au rez-de chaussée. Et d’aménager au 1er étage et au second étage 8 espaces de cours pour le SIM Jean Wiener présidé alors par M. Couëtoux. Coût de l’opération à ce seul stade de la mise en état des locaux : 3 931 000 FF TTC soit 599 277 € TTC (chiffre officiel : nous avons toutes les pièces administratives concernées y compris les plans des travaux de l’époque). 

A cette somme de base qu’il conviendrait d’actualiser pour intégrer l’impact de l’inflation sur toute cette période, il importerait également d’ajouter toutes les autres subventions ponctuelles pour identifier la réalité de l’argent public placé dans ce site reconverti. 30 ans plus tard, tout cet argent public alors dépensé au titre d’un patrimoine immobilier historique, il n’est que ... poussières. Les pelles mécaniques ont été lancées pour tout casser pour faire le fameux planétarium mondial. Voilà comment est

traité l’argent des impôts dans des cycles de très faibles durées : 30 ans à l’échelle collective c’est une séquence temps très brève. Soit le bâtiment en question méritait d’être considéré comme historique et il devait être conservé durablement ce qui justifiait la mise de l’argent public de départ pour le restaurer. Soit ce n’était pas le cas et il ne fallait pas lui consacrer autant d’argent public pour sa simple mise en état initiale. Ici, en 30 ans, tout peut changer et l’argent public pour des montants considérables peut être réduit à l’état de simples poussières à déblayer ... Un constat qui mérite d’être médité.

I think I'm the only one who believes she'll skip TTC this year. It's too close to the birth and after seeing how big she was and knowing how vain she is, she's gonna want to lose baby weight. She had Trevor sign a contract ffs! Does anyone really think she'd show up looking less than her "best"?

So I'm a little concerned. Now I'm thinking I haven't ovulated since August. So the only 2 times I have thought I've ovulated have been during stressful events. The first was moving. Literally a few days after moving. But we hadn't BD at all in my fertile period, now this one (which ff won't say it but I put in where it looks to me) was a day after my mom was in a terrible car accident. So ugh. I'm pretty frustrated. So I'm wondering if it's just stress hormones looking like ovulation... ughhhhh I started vitex on Monday. Only 400 mg or whatever it is. I'll start 2 of them tomorrow. And see. I don't feel different at all. But we'll see. Ttc is beyond frustrating. If I don't end up pregnant this cycle, ha that would be great but I don't expect it anymore, I'll try vitex 3 times a day and see if my body will react differently. I may give that 2 full cycles at 3 times a day then I think it'll be time to see my doctor. Ugh.
