The Hatake clan has been haunted by the spirits of toxic doomed yaoi and yuri for generations,,,, obkk never stood a chance, they were only one in a long long line of doomed ships,,,,

Tetsuo and Tsuki have that unspoken offscreen true toxic yaoi. They are so obsessed with each other in vastly different ways.

Growing up, Tsuki always had some sort of minor fixation on Tetsuo-- he was a bully, Tetsuo was fun to pick on, and they were some of the only kids in the clan anyways.

Then Wave happens, and Tsuki is dragged into the water to be eaten by a spiral demon. Tetsuo jumps in after him, trying his hardest to save his clanmate, and becomes the last thing both Tsuki and the spiral itself see.

Tetsuo leaves feeling burdened by incredible guilt at being unable to save Tsuki, and some years later when Tsuki returns looking like not a single day has passed (and most definitely changed) Tetsuo's guilt morphs into something even heavier and much more present and complicated. Because Tsuki is there, but it's not really him anymore and Tetsuo still failed. But it is still him, just... changed. And Tsuki himself absolutely weaponizes this guilt against Tetsuo, making it even worse

Then on Tsuki's end, both Tsuki and the spiral demon have some sort of individual fixation on Tetsuo (largely related to just the fact that he was there during Tsuki being eaten by the spiral), and as they've melded together, so has their interest in him.

A big part of the reason why Tsuki was able to escape the spiral's clutches was because he wanted to return to his clan. He latched onto the yearning for his home and let it guide him out of the demons stomach, using his clan (and the last thing he saw, Tetsuo's hand reaching for him) as an anchor.

With that in mind, his clan in general (and especially Tetsuo's) presence in his life acts as a stabilizer for Tsuki's sense of self. He tends to get worse (read: hears the call to return back to the water) when left alone. Which is also why he doesn't really go out on missions in general (Unless either Tetsuo or Sora are going) and never takes solo missions.

Which brings us to the unfortunate fact that Tsuki, Tetsuo and Sakumo were the only Hatake to not go on the mission that wiped out the clan. Tetsuo was sick that day and Tsuki had stayed to watch over him and Sakumo, meaning they were the last Hatake left alive when news of the botched mission got back to Konoha.

From there, Tsuki began to rapidly spiral, having lost the majority of his touchpoint to reality. He became even more fixated on Tetsuo than before, bullying his way into moving in with him and Sakumo (who Tetsuo was now raising) But still, the spiral's hold on his heart and mind was growing stronger and stronger, and the call to return back to the oceans of whirlpool was growing very, very hard to resist

Then ofc, Tsuki's presence was specifically requested by the Uzumaki to help defend Uzushio (because of whirlpool demon reasons) And so, almost two decades later, they finally returned to where it all started.

As you might expect, when Tsuki jumped into the water, Tetsuo once again found it impossible not to follow. But this time, he didn't let go.

(They're still down there, in the heart of the spiral, Tetsuo and the spiral demon playing tug of war with Tsuki's body as the years pass by unnoticed by them all. Maybe one day they'll finally find a way out, and will finally return home.)

HUGE fucking rip to Sakumo, who Tetsuo promised to raise for Haruka. In a way, Tetsuo ended up choosing his duty to Tsuki over his duty to him <3

Anyways, Tetsuo and Tsuki have a LOT of really weird tension between them. There's so much history and so much guilt between them,,, Tsuki weaponizes Tetsuo's guilt without thought, and Tetsuo finds himself unable to argue or defend against it.

They have probably kissed once or twice behind the scenes, but you'll never see it on screen. Pure unspoken

Ichigo and Hiname have some of that good old doomed yuri (with a side of toxic lesbians because they will never ever admit they're even friends)

It was loathing at first sight as children, and then Hiname developed the biggest gayest crush on Ichigo when they were around 14. Which, for the record, she insists was the worst thing to ever happen to her. Terrible. Awful. She has horrible taste. She's so mad about it.

They continue to fight every chance they get as Kagami stands awkwardly on the sidelines, by now used to their shit.

(Fun fact! Actually, Hiname, Ichigo and Kagami are Konoha's first ever youngest shinobi team-- as the three of them were taken on a mission by Tobirama when he found himself in need of children to infiltrate a school. That's a mess of its own tho)

Ichigo actually had a very big impact on Hiname's change in worldview and how she realized the caged bird seal was wrong and decided it was her job to abolish it. The free willed Hatake vs strict Hyuuga culture clash went HARD, and Ichigo very much was around when Hiname started having her revelations that (gasp) slavery is... bad, actually. (crazy, I know.)

Ichigo helped encourage Hiname to be a better person, and to question rules and standards that others set for her. The positive impact she had on her life was honestly really big, even if Hiname would never say it to her face

Aaaand then ofc Ichigo died at 15, before Hiname could even come to terms with her crush herself. Hiname never fully got over it tbh.

Haru and Shikasada are on that doomed yaoi where its doomed because of no one but themselves <3

Shika and Haru actually meet in the very first chapter of Wolves of the Woods (tho its looking like I'll have to move it to the second chapter, with how long ch 1 is getting) in the courts of Iron Country at only 15. Their first meeting is very political, with them being... not not allies(?) as they both try to get on the good side of the newly instated 16 year old Iron Daimyo. They part on good terms, not expecting to see each other again, only to reunite in Konoha a year later.

They are very much in love, but Shikasada is very much in the closet + has obligations as clan heir (AND has a fiancé) So they're constantly on and off again (theyre that one couple who's constantly breaking up and getting back together. Everyone hates them.)

One minute they are making out in a closet, the next minute they're arguing in the street. Their relationship is also technically a secret-- a lot of people are in on the secret, but, yk, its the thought that counts. Shikasada is plagued by terror that it will get out and he will bring awful messy political consequences onto his clan (and his home. His father does NOT approve.)

Eventually, Shikasada does get married and before he can fully reconcile with Haru (and their still very real emotions) Haru fucking dies. Nice going you guys !!!

Shikasada ends up living the longest out of all the early konoha ocs, my man makes it all the way to canon era. He's Shikamaru's clinically depressed grandpa. He outlived all his friends and fucking hates everything.

(Haru's ghost is hanging over his shoulders hoping he hurries up and trips down the stairs and snaps his neck already)

Then in the corner you also have the honorable mention queer platonic besties Hiro and Shiruka, who have something minor between them but in a "we're still friends first, but like if it became convenient or necessary to get together both of us would probably be ok with that" way.

They're queer platonic besties who don't have the context of labels to identify themselves in this era, and so default to assuming romance is a thing that could apply to them just because it's socially expected of them. They also have the energy of those two friends who make a "if we're both still unmarried at 30 let's just call it a day and get married to each other" pact

And then ofc, they die together (also with Haru) and all three of them are ultimately buried together because Shiruka isn't allowed to be buried with the Nara on account of her fathers crimes <3

Tobirama looks up at the full moon and smiles.

"… and so the old man took the rabbit back to the moon with him." He can hear Anija in the garden, retelling the story of Tsuki no Usagi, and it brings back memories of when he was much, much younger.

A time when he himself was a child, and his brothers joined him in watching Anija act out the tale.

"To this day, you can see the shape of Usagi!" Anija points dramatically, tracing the shadows that decorate the autumn moon. "There! He hops!"

The baby in Madara-sama's arms waves, chortling gleefully, though his father doesn't seem to share his amusement. "You must be dreaming!" Madara-sama scoffs derisively, though his hands hold the child carefully. "They're just shadows!"

"But you don't know that!" Anija argues playfully. "Maybe the shadow is cast by the rabbit, hm?"

"Well, I think there is a rabbit." Hikaku's nephew crosses his arms, clearly aligning himself with Anija. "Though is there any grass on the moon for it to eat?"

Anija blinks, clearly surprised by this prosaic question about the necessities of life, and Hikaku snickers as he pours Aneue another dish of sake.

REINA ABURAME (So far NEW HEADCANNONS)

So, as I mentioned in a previous post I am rebooting Reina, looking for a new approach to her story within the "cannon verse". I have been working, believing or not and I know that it has been a while since I uploaded anything. So here, I wanted to share not just how the HC for Reina are going but also some drawings, well...one that I feel secure to share. So here you got some HC of this new Reina. Waiting to hear what you all think about her!

Reina Aburame

Born: 1st August

Sign: Leo

Ages: The same as the main crew (Also it can be diverse in different AU)

Main ship: We don’t talk about this…yet because it hurts like hell. (I don't know with whom pair her really Shino, Muta, Zetsu, and OC, Kimimaro, Joribo, Ino I just don't know)

Chakra: Yang, Earth, Water

Techniques: Aburame techniques mixed with Uzumaki’s sealing techniques. Creating bugs who can hold different seal regarding the type of bug that they are they have an affinity or another. Plus, with her kikaichu she can do long distances sealing, (learns in Shippuden).

Background:

-Born on her parents’ way back to Konoha to introduce her to the clan members and to wait until she was three months old to introduce the hive on her. Once that was done, it would be the last time that she set foot there and her mother too.

-Daughter of Takeo Aburame, famously known for his insubordination towards the head clan after they do nothing about Tatsuma’s abduction into root. His pass glories long forgotten together with everything that he had ever done for the clan just for asking help to retrieve Tatsuma from Danzo’s side. Daughter of Hana Uzumaki, the pity of the clan; unable to control her chakra paths and the shadow of her twin brother Sen Uzumaki who managed to be the perfect example of finest shinobi.

-Spent her whole life wondering from one place to the other until their parents settled in Moon Island.

-Moon Island is known for its luxury and as the perfect destination for everyone with money and that doesn’t belong to the island. The island was once part of the Land oof Whirpools, but war and destruction brought the perfect opportunity for the Tsuki family to purchase land. And land did they gain, buying the whole island and proclaiming themselves as rulers of it and monarchs.

-The islanders suffered the consequence, native from the land of Whirpools, saw how their traditions started to disappear, how they started to have “designated areas” to live since other areas may be attractive for the tourism and therefore it should be available for them. This situation remained for ages and centuries until Shabadaba started the cup d’état.  It worked mostly because he appalled to the islander and their lack of resources and opportunities as the tourist. Of course, everything was fake, he wanted the big cake for himself.

-At that time, Reina was already far away from the land. She was seeking being a shinobi, however, she was in contact with her original three- people-squad. Chokako Akimichi and Shiori Nara, the three of them were secretly trained by Gen Yamanaka. The four of them rather young (Gen 25 a few years younger than Kakashi). Were descendants of non grata people for the head-clans. They were paying the price of their forefathers and the four of them wanted it over.

-Reina was the luckiest, since the head of the clan allowed her to look for a suitable village that may held her as their shinobi. Under one condition, if Konoha needed her, she would be there first and foremost for Konoha. She agreed, after all she wanted to be back there and safe her brother. She is sure, that the ANBU who helped her during the Chunin exams there was no other that her brother. She could feel it in her bugs.

-Chunin exams, her team enters as a non-affiliated village. However, the three of them kneeled and promised fidelity to Konoha as original dwellers of that land.

-Reina’s objective is to get into ROOT and find information about her brother, during the chunnin exams she also wishes to have a face-to-face with Shino, the future clan leader. The reason, humiliate Shibi as he did with her father. She is not aware that these men relationship only seems rivalry but each other help within the shadows. Shibi but allowing him having her and helping him getting his wish of a family without Danzo’s intervention. And Takeo gives useful intel in his travels, seems everyone perceives him as a retractor and a possible rioter they think they can trust him about peculiar intel about the upbrings that lesser clans have in other villages against their clan or the village itself. Feeding the village with useful information in secrecy while keeping his façade.

-Konoha is aware of Otagure trying to do something but not aware that they were plotting with Suna. The attack upon Konoha happens and the third Kage still dies but the events unfold a little bit differently since Konoha’s elite was aware of it, thanks to Takeo’s intel.

"How long are you both in Konoha?” Chojuro asked, sipping his water. He looked to Darui beside him and Kurotsuchi across from him. This was nice. He finally felt like he was one of them, finally accepted by the other Kage supports. Kurotsuchi was related to the Tsuchikage by blood, and Darui always seemed so sure of himself and his abilities, and though Chojuro was just as talented he had always felt a bit of imposter syndrome being among them. The sand siblings weren’t particularly welcoming, either, but they had begun to warm up to him as well.

“We’re staying a few more days,” Kurotsuchi replied, smiling, sipping on a milkshake. “My grandfather isn’t in any hurry to get back home, though I’m sure it’s a bit of a mess. It’s not going anywhere though.”

“Same,” Darui replied. “Lord A I think is just grateful we’re all alive…well, most of us anyway.”

“Oh, that’s good,” Chojuro replied, smiling. “I think Lady Mei wanted to stay a few more days too. It’s so nice here…and there’s so much excitement right now. I know we lost many people along the way…but it seems that everyone is so happy to be living. It’s…energizing.”

“I agree,” Kurotsuchi said. “After being trapped in Tsuki No Me, I think people are looking forward to really living out their dreams, and live them in reality. Not in some facsimile.”

“Yeah. There’s definitely a few things I’ve been thinking about doing,” Darui replied, grinning at her fondly.

“Like what?” Chojuro asked curiously. 

“Like asking someone out,” he replied. “You won’t know if there’s a spark unless you ignite it. I guess I always just guessed it was there or it wasn’t, but I don’t think that’s true now. A catalyst is needed.”

“Oh?” he asked. He wondered if the subject of Darui's affection was at the table among them. He cleared his throat. “I suppose I understand that. I’ve been thinking along the same lines, actually.”

The door to the restaurant they were occupying opened. Chojuro stopped breathing as he watched Kankuro and Temari enter, followed closely behind by Lord Gaara and Naruto Uzumaki.

Chojuro resumed breathing, taking another sip of water to calm his nerves as he watched them walk towards them.

“Oh, hey Chojuro,” Naruto said easily, smiling that easy smile of his. It was enough to put anyone at ease. Chojuro felt a swell of pride. He remembered my name!

Gaara glided by, fixing an empty gaze on the Kage supports. He met Chojuro’s eyes and Chojuro’s stomach did a somersault. “Lord Gaara,” he said respectfully, nodding his head to acknowledge him.

A small smile formed on Gaara’s lips. He tipped his head just slightly in return, following the others into a booth several tables down. 

“How would you go about it? Asking someone out, I mean?” Chojuro asked. He was absolutely clueless about this sort of thing.

Darui took a moment to think through his answer. “I don’t really know for sure just yet, but I think you probably have to be direct and confident, and be willing to make the first move. It’s easy to miss if you never aim.”

“Okay, that–that’s good advice, I think.” 

“Why, are you going to ask someone out?” Kurotsuchi asked, raising an eyebrow.

“I–I was thinking about it. Um. Excuse me,” he said. Darui stood to let him out. 

As Chojuro walked away, Darui smiled at Kurotsuchi now that it was just the two of them.

“So…as I was saying…” Darui started.

Chojuro walked towards the table with Gaara, Naruto, and Gaara’s brother and sister. His fists were clenched at his sides. This is stupid, he thought hopelessly. There’s no way the Kazekage would entertain this.

“Oh, hey Chojuro,” Naruto said once more, grinning. “Care to join us?” he asked.

“Oh, I couldn’t impose,” he replied, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. “But I, I wanted to ask you a question, Lord Kazekage. If you have a minute?”

Gaara’s eyes widened in surprise. What could it possibly be that the Kiri-nin wanted to ask?

“I…Yes, I’ll be right back,” he said to the table. He stood, following Chojuro a few paces away for more privacy. He noticed how nervous the swordsman looked.

“Chojuro–I wanted to tell you how impressed I was that you took down Black Zetsu,” Gaara started, hoping to put the other at ease. He was aware that he was not the easiest person to approach. “You did well.”

He was rewarded with a toothy megawatt smile and pink cheeks.

“What was it that you wanted to ask me?” Gaara inquired, positively baffled but trying his best to hide it.

“Wanna, like–I mean, if you’re not busy…we could get lunch? Or even just coffee if you don’t have a lot of time?” 

Gaara smiled. It was so rare that anyone approached him, let alone ask him out. That was what was happening here, right?

“Yes. I’d like that.” Gaara replied, his own cheekbones dusted with a rosy color. “I’m here tomorrow and then we leave the day after. Where did you want to meet?” 

Chojuro could hardly believe his luck. Did he hear him correctly? He was certain he did. 

“Maybe we could try the yakiniku restaurant down the street? Noon tomorrow?” Chojuro asked, barely believing what was happening, barely recognizing his own voice. He sounded confident. He better not overthink it.

“I’ll be there,” Gaara replied.

“Okay. I look forward to it,” Chojuro said, nodding his head in a slight bow and returning to his seat. Success!

“I uh, I took some advice,” he replied, preferring not to say anything more, downing the rest of his water.

“What was that about?” Kurotsuchi asked, her own face slightly red.

Meanwhile, as Gaara sat back down, Naruto and Kankuro were waggling their eyebrows and snickering. 

“Grow up,” Gaara frowned, folding his arms. Temari only smiled at him, hopeful he’d have fun for once. They’d overheard the whole thing.

Lunch the next day went pretty well. It turned out that the Kazekage was quite talkative when asked questions about his interests and follow-up questions about succulents. Feeling good about his odds, Chojuro suggested that afterwards they go for a walk. Gaara seemed just as eager to not say goodbye just yet.

They circled a small lake with a worn dirt footpath. There was a hill that descended down towards the lake, and not too far away was an ice cream cart.

“Do you want ice cream?” Chojuro asked earnestly. “You could sit here; I’ll go get it.” Gaara was taken aback by the intensity of his gaze, seeking to be sure his needs were met before his own.

“I could go with you,” Gaara replied, though the lake was beautiful. There was no one else here, and it was hard to say how long it would be before a private moment enjoying the scenery was gone.

“Please, sit, I insist. What flavor?” 

Gaara took a seat, watching a duck and her fluffy ducklings float across the surface, a v-shaped ripple following behind them where they swam.

"Neapolitan, if they have it. Or any of those flavors would be fine."

Chojuro smiled. Gaara was complicated and uncomplicated at the same time. He'd have it no other way.

"Okay, I'll be right back."

Chojuro walked away, leaving Gaara to contemplate their lunch date and take a quiet moment for himself to enjoy the scenery. These moments to himself were hard to come by–he appreciated that the Mizukage’s hand had given him the opportunity. His loyalty to his Mizukage was unquestionable, and he was hard working and dependable, and his recent conquest slaying Black Zetsu proved his ability with his legendary sword. He was a catch. It was a shame they lived so far apart, Gaara thought, but he didn’t have time to pursue romance anyway, he rationalized.

When Chojuro returned he held two small cones in his hand. He smiled, his eyes crinkling as he did so. Gaara found it endearing. He’d seen him do it a number of times, but rarely for him.

“They didn’t have neapolitan, so I got you a scoop of vanilla and another of chocolate. Or you can have my strawberry.” He held them out for Gaara to choose. Gaara smiled at him. His red hair danced around his face in a sudden gust of wind.

“Thank you”, Gaara replied, choosing the chocolate and vanilla combo. He enjoyed the sweet treat. Chojuro sat down beside him on the bench.

“You’re welcome. T-thank you for coming with me. I, um, I’ve hadacrushonyourforalongtime,” he blurted out. He’d done his best to stay professional, but anytime he was in the same room with the young Kazekage his heart would flutter with excitement and he hoped he would be noticed.

Gaara turned to him, shyly smiling, color high on his cheeks. “I’ve enjoyed this,” Gaara said, lowering his guard. “You’re…very sweet,” Gaara added. “I wouldn’t have known you felt that way, had you not asked me yesterday.”

The nervous smile and neck rub and crinkled eyes and blushing face and stammer were too adorable. “Y-you really think so?”

“I do. I like you.”

Chojuro took a moment to calm down, ruminating on the Kazekage’s confession. They finished his ice cream, looking out at the lake in companionable silence. There still was no one else in sight. “If that’s the case, could I-could I kiss you?” he asked bravely, hopefully. 

Gaara’s eyes widened in surprise. “No one has asked me that before.” He heard his heart pound in his ears as the swordsman looked at him with such longing. Gaara glanced between his dark eyes and long lashes to his lips and pointed teeth, which were biting his own lip.

Chojuro waited for a more clear answer, though he leaned in more closely. Gaara didn't back away. He instinctively leaned forward, slightly.

"Please," Gaara breathed, dark eyelids heavy as the other drew closer.

Chojuro gently reached for Gaara's chin, tilting his face up tenderly to meet him. Chojuro paused before pressing his lips to the soft, parted ones just a breath away, his nose nuzzling Gaara's cheek. Warmth pooled low in his belly when he heard Gaara moan so quietly he wasn't certain if he had imagined the sound or not.

"What are you waiting for?" Gaara asked, a hint of annoyance in his deep voice.

Chojuro committed, pressing his lips to the other slowly. Gaara was shy at first but it wasn't long before he was returning the advance with enthusiastic willingness, enjoying the taste of strawberry mingled with the chocolate and vanilla on his own lips.

Chojuro felt hands wrap in his hair, tightening on his scalp. He groaned with excitement. "I know I've kissed you like, ten times, but just like another ten, please," Chojuro pleaded, his black eyes captivated by Gaara's seafoam green. They were the color of the tide pools he used to play in as a young child, before he ever encountered the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist.

"I don't want you to stop," Gaara replied, pulling him back in for at least twenty more.
