Haven't watched spy x family and honestly, I'm not going to watch or read a long manga/anime series at all as I don't have time with my sad life as a corporate slave 🥲

But I really enjoy any Hana yori dango manga references in any other mangas/shows 💖

Damian

Damian's character is inspired by the manga "Hana Yori Dango" (also known as "Boys Over Flowers") by Yoko Kamio, specifically Tsukasa Domyouji.

He was originally a nasty guy who bragged about his status, but soon became a nice guy.

Endo originally wanted him to be a nastier character.

Lin says that Damian and his lackeys are true friends and that Damian's whole story to come should be done with care

I don't know if many know this, but it's known that Tatsuya Endo is a fan of the shoujo genre. And the fact that he based it on a Yoko Kamio's character excites me *doki doki*

Tsukasa and Damian already have a lot in common for example:

They are both haughty.

They both brag about their social status

They like to make fun of others

They have a personality uhm…. complicated?

They are never with their family ( one of the main reasons why they are both like that )

And the most important of all… ¡They are in love with unique girls, they received the fist of love!

But here's something that catches my attention, Tatsuya Endo said that the coming story for Damian should be done very carefully. That means that Damian's character is really going to influence the story a lot. And guess who else he will influence? That's Anya. I don't want to rush to say too much but the way things are going in the manga Damian and Anya's relationship is really moving forward. Damian is willing to protect Anya from danger. And that has been shown many times in the manga. Even though he often says that Anya is very annoying and more unpleasant things, he really appreciates her a lot and cares about her. And I don't know if you have seen the anime/manga of Hana Yori Dango, well, the real villain of the anime is Tsukasa's mother, once Makino and him start a relationship, doumyouji's mother does everything to separate them. I don't know if Endo has something similar in mind for Damian and Anya's story but it's going to be interesting.

Finally, I don't want to get ahead of myself but I'm 90% sure that Damian and Anya will be together in the end and I'll tell you why? Because they complement each other too much and for example Damian is very serious and mature for a boy of his age, Anya is very immature and is not serious at all (but well she is only 4 years old) But what I mean is that Damian has that seriousness that she lacks, and Anya has that joy and spontaneity that he lacks. Anya has influenced Damian a lot and in a way changed him, the same thing happened with Tsukasa, he met Makino a girl totally different from the ones he knew and she changed him. Damian appreciates Anya a lot but she appreciates Damian? At first she thought he was an annoying brat and to some extent she still thinks the same, but Makino also had that thought of Doumyouji but as she got to know him those thoughts changed and in the end she ended up falling in love with Doumyouji. Probably something like this will happen with Damian and Anya, she will get to know Damian and little by little she will start to love him the same way he does. But for this I think there has to be a time skip. So we can only wait for the evolution of one of the most popular spy x fmily couples. ♡

Let's get into it.

1- 3 ships: Tsukasa/Tsukushi and their various interpretations. And I'll throw in Sojiro/Yuuki too because they deserve it. Honestly, they blindsided me the first time I read the series and I never got over it.

2 - first ever ship: I'm a shipping fiend so I don't know exactly, but probably something from an anime I watched as a kid. I've never been tied to canon though, so most of my ships have been crack ships or unpopular.

3 - last song: Cupid's Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes. I was thinking about how Will would have to call his parents and tell them,

1: he's back in town

2: he's married

I'd like to think he'd have the same energy as the song. ♪take a look at my girlfriend wife... She's the only one I got♪♪

4- last movie: To be honest, I watch a lot of movie reaction channels, and way more often than I sit to watch movies. I've been thinking I need to watch "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" though. I always have so much fun with it.

@sojirosteacup Spy x Family, the anime. Can you believe I was a manga-only fan until last weekend? (I'm a very slow anime watcher) It's fun to see the story from another perspective (and I'm still getting used to their voices).

I've only seen the first two episodes and I loved it so much, but I got distracted! You're posting about it has moved it up my to-do list.

The anime series was made and completed before the manga series ended. So the anime ended before tsukasa and tsukushi reached back Japan from the yatch and got stabbed arc started. I wished a new anime reboot was made instead of all these drama adaptations from each and every countries lol

HANA YORI DANGO/BOYS OVER FLOWERS (1996, ANIME)

After hearing his evil mother's plan to get rid of Makino Tsukushi, Domyouji rails against the evil witch (he himself calls her that) and runs straight to Makino revealing her 1 year abroad was a step to separate them by his mother.

Domyouji again confesses his love for Makino begging her not to go. As she argues Domyouji silences her with a kiss. A kiss she just can't resist.

However his evil mother will not let this go. She intends to see her plan through including Domyouji Tsukuba marrying Shingeru. The girl personally selected to marry her son.

speaking of anime boys i somehow found a dvd set of the 2005 live action adaption of boys over flowers and i remembered reading a bit of it as a kid so i got it and have been watching it and despite some initial difficulties (the discs are old enough that they’re not in the universal disc format (or something idk) so i can’t use vlc media player to play them) i’ve been enjoying it for the most part! i usually can’t stand like, bully x victim dynamics bc it hits a little too close to home but tsukushi kicking the shit out of tsukasa is great lmao also usually i wouldn’t be able to stand the bully character but i will admit. jun matsumoto (tsukasa’s actor) IS very handsome

one of my other fave shojos is boys over flowers n im ride or die for tsukasa x tsukushi and im also perfectly aware of how toxic the shit in that manga was. its saved bc tsukasa is so dumb hes moe and tsukushi is a badass. anyways my point is ive read toxic ass shojo romances i can not deal w lukewarm takes abt shit like marmalade boy being the most toxic thing ever when my ass got gaslit and emotionally manipulated by hot gimmick

I think we did get the closure with our OTP - tsukasa and tsukushi wedding and I'm not just talking about the Japanese drama adaptation of Hana Yori Dango aka Boys Over Flowers manga but also bcz Yoko Kamio did draw and share the wedding pic at the end of the Jdrama installation.

And the latest one of tsukasa and tsukushi wedding in Yoko Kamio's blog and her YouTube channel in 2023! 💖💖💖

I get it that the wedding art shared with the end manga volumes or the last 2 special installments shared on 2007 would have been way better but at the time as usual with weekly serialisation mangakas... She was burned out but thankfully with fan and her staff/family's love and support she ended the manga story much better then most.

And she even shared a few times that she can't draw and get uncomfortable drawing lip to lip kissing scenes and wedding ones too.

I don't want to dislike or force the mangaka to do that too much. I'm just happy that Yoko Kamio still share one shots sometimes to her fans even after almost 2 decades from the manga ending!

I’m not even sure if anyone is still reading this at all, but I guess I’m doing this post for my own benefit? (haha)

I created this tumblr as a place for me to fangirl my love for the manga Hana Yori Dango. When I say fangirl, I really mean faNGIRL. I was so crazy over Tsukasa (who am I kidding, I still am /cries he’s my perfect guy)

But anyway, I guess I somewhat matured over the years and my craze went down a bit and I had things to do other than being glued to my screen and playing around tumblr making HYD posts. 

BUT

Can I just say, my love for the series has never gone away. 

Around last year, I was SO excited that Hanadan is finally getting the sequel it needs!!!!!!! Like, I always felt really unsatisfied with the original ending of the manga. I never had actual closure like, so are Tsukushi and Tsukasa gonna get married? 

I remember feeling like the sequel would never ever come and that I’ll have to just imagine my own ending and live with it T_T

And now, in two days time, the Hana Nochi Hare J-drama is going to air. I follow TBS and Yoko Kamio on twitter, and I don’t know about you, but I am so excited. I got even MORE excited after seeing Tsukasa’s somwhat brief appearance (on a magazine) in the latest HNH (Chapter 70)!

Ok, I’m typing this post feeling rather excited and sleepy, but seeing the updates on twitter made me feel that I had to write something about HYD to express my feelz.

I don’t even know if anyone on here still follows the series, but if you do, drop a message and let’s chat! I think it’s really hard to find friends that actually followed the series till now!

And, a proper post on the series soon. I have so much fangirling to do.
