I was tagged by @Danjaley totally out of the blue omg thank you I feel sincerely honoured.

I am non-straight myself, and like my sims/characters to be quite diverse in terms of sexual orientation as well; however, I play legacy style. Leading to very creative ways to produce the next heir...

I've been looking up info about the clone drone elixer, how it works, how buggy it is etc. This may or may not be related to the previous point, but most likely in a way you don't expect.

I have a naming system which I will use until I get tired of it or can't think of good names; my character's romantic endgame is consistently someone with the same first letter of their name. This can make things very obvious, but also confusing.

One of my sims caused a zombie apocalypse which I am not doing ANYTHING with right now but I keep mentioning it because I am 100% getting back to it at some point. Somehow. Just not yet.

I have a weakness for Conall (scarred werewolf who was mistreated by his mom as a child, nephew of Gen 2 heir Bianca. Poor boy : ( ) and he will be IMPOOOORTANTTTTTT because of it.

I only recently started getting active on tumblr, which is why I was so surprised to get this, and people who I've been following somewhat closely who are storytellers already got the tag... I don't know a lot of people yet and don't know who to tag : ( so if you happen to see this and want to do this, feel free to consider yourself tagged!

Storytelling Secrets

@justanothersimsblog did an open tag, I thought there were some questions being circulated around somewhere LMAO, ok here we go:

I like to build a themed playlist, pop in my earbuds, and envision my characters in random scenes in my head. I usually do this at night before I fall asleep. I think about anything from fight scenes, to crying scenes, to slow romance tension building scenes, etc. I've been doing it since I was a child it's one of the only ways I can fall asleep most nights.

Specifically for TS3, I use pose player add-on so I don't have to add sims to my individual household and usually just select a random pose, then I try to throw something together using whatever random pose was given.

I love highly decorated cc lots that I can also play in. I never liked having lots just for pictures. I aim for every angle in my game being screenshot worthy, so I never have to take too much time away from gameplay to set up my scenes.

While I have a general idea of what I would like to happen, the most interesting stories I've written and experienced has come from bouncing off of my gameplay. I have autonomy on the highest level, and I try not to fight my sims too much. If they want to do something so badly I just let them, and that's what happens in the story out of game. I rework the plot around their real decisions that I didn't direct them to do. It's giving DnD game master.

When I start a serious sims 3 gameplay series on my channel I plan to mix the gameplay in with machinima's. Daisie Sims does this very well and I miss her videos, I'm always going back and rewatching them, she was such a great story teller with her usage of angles and dialogue, poses and animations. At the end of the day I can just imagine the story in my own head for my own personal use, but to actually see the story come alive on screen for others will be a challenge but also, hopefully, a rewatchable worthy reward.

1. Some musings on my Dudley family with a dash of historical trivia: by 1322, the Dudleys are steering towards a succession crisis because Ralph, the earl, only has a daughter. Noblewomen with no brothers could and did inherit (for an example, see Isabel and Anne Neville, daughters of Warwick the Kingmaker), but if Clement, Ralph's brother, has a son, he might just think his line has the better claim. To avoid this, the obvious solution is that Ralph and Clement have their children marry.

Alas, it's not that simple.

Contrary what the infamous Habsburgs might have you believe, cousins marrying hasn't always been legal. It was actually prohibited for a good while, which means you had to get a papal dispensation for the marriage to be legitimate. Getting one of these was very common for royalty and apparantly not uncommon for the nobility, but I haven't decided what I'll do if that Dudley succession crisis comes to pass.

2. I was initially against having the Townsends get into nectar production because a) I did that in my last go at the UDC and b) everyone has their sims make nectar. But I also really like the idea of Malcolm using his family's nectar to later in life become a merchant. So I might have them do it anyway.

3. I'm toying with the idea of having a family/maybe just a lone sim move into another world, should I think of a fitting story. TS3 doesn't allow having multiple "normal" worlds in one save (there are the vacation and university worlds, though), but if I save the sim as a household, delete them from the save so the story doesn't have two of them running around and plop them down in a new save/world, it would work. The problem is that the sim wouldn't be part of the original save anymore and I would have to play through events in both saves, which sounds like it could get really tedious. And the sims couldn't have inter-save contact.

4. You may have noticed already, but I'm a sucker for romantic drama. The mess that is the Dudley family is probably my favorite storyline at the moment.

5. I don't know if I ever mentioned this, but Robert failed his baby roll initially. I just decided to ignore that because it felt anticlimactic. And I'm glad I did.

Simblr Asks Pt1 - TS3

I saw these questions here, and I’m in a procrastinating mood. [EDIT] Joke’s on me, I already answered these questions a few months ago and forgot all about it, JFC.

1. how big is your mods folder? I have to update my mods folder--I haven’t simmed in so frikkin long. U_U

2. how would you describe your style? Derivative. Vanilla pudding-esque. Sporadic.

3. what is your favorite challenge? I don’t do challenges.

4. do you make cc? if so, what kind? I prefer to do Decor CC, since it’s easy. When I have time, I try dabbling in functional items, but I still have a long way to go, and there’s a steep learning curve to figuring out how to do more than decorative clutter. A for CAS CC, I effing hate it, it’s so dang hard.

5. what type of cc do you hoard?  I used to only DL fanciful CC, but it’s slim pickings in these streets, so now I grab almost everything, and hope I can make it work.

6. what default eyes and skin do you use? I don’t use default skins, just the You Are Real mod. As for eyes, I use Moonskin’s.

7. how many urls have you had, and what are the meanings behind them? Only ever had one, my first name, cuz I’m creative like that.

8. who is your favorite gameplay blog? I can’t pick one.

9. who is your favorite storytelling blog? Omfg, I can’t.

10. who is your favorite cc creator? Luna! There! Leave me alooooone~!!

11. how do you edit your photos? I up the Brightness and Contrast, cuz lighting is a hot mess in The Sims, but I’m too scared to use Reshade on my busted PC.

12. what is the last screenshot you took? Top secret information, sorry.

13. what do you do when you are unmotivated? Not sim. It’s a hobby, not a job. I only play when I’m motivated to do so--the second I feel forced to play a game, that’s a problem--the whole point of games is for them to be fun.

14. who is your current favorite sim? Chile, I haven’t been able to play The Sims in months; I don’t even know which gameplay I’m gonna do once Winter Break starts. I want to continue playing with WangXian in my Untamed Gameplay, but I really need to return to Adoribull in my Dragon Age gameplay, too. And I’ve been lowkey missing Malec from my Shadowhunters gameplay. BAH!

15. who is your current favorite sim that is not by you? @solori​​’s Vidarr. Total DILF.

16. recreate someone else’s sim in your style. I did a Picrew tag like that here. [EDIT] Here’s where I realized I’d wasted an hour of my life answering a questionnaire I already frikkin did.

17. do you talk about sims with people in real life? Rarely. I knew a few TS3 & Sims City simmers IRL, but there are way too many johnny-come-lately TS4 simmers out there who think EA’s the second effing coming of Maxis when it ain’t. I can’t with them.

18. how many of the packs do you own? Very few for TS1, all of TS2 & TS3′s, and more than I expected for TS4.

19. how many posts do you have on your blog currently? THOUSANDS, jfc.

20. how many drafts do you have on your blog currently? HUNDREDS, it’s effing shameful, send help.

21. how many posts are in your queue currently? That’s a secret.

22. have you ever moved blogs? Never. I was trying to backup my stuff on Wordpress, but now that I'm back in school it’s just too much work I don’t have time for.

23. are you in any sims related discord servers? No, though I’m pretty sure there’s CC discords out there I’m probably seriously missing out on. I wouldn’t even know where to start.

24. what are your thoughts on the most recent pack? (paranormal) For a Stuff Pack, I thought it was cool! Though Bonehilda needs a effing facelift, jfc, why does her skull even look like that?

25. how many hours have you played sims?  I don’t even know. I got TS3 at launch, and play it almost religiously. Then in 2017 I got a new pc and had to migrate to Origin in order to reinstall all my stuff, and EA started tryna keep track of my play time, so I started playing only in Offline Mode. MYOFB, EA.

26. if you play gameplay, do you play with mods? All day every day.

27. what’s the farthest you’ve gotten in a challenge? I don’t do challenges; I cheat too much.

Founder Fun Time 1/8

Decided to get all my founders [that i still have] together to play around and have some fun as we approach all the wonderful celebrations of the season. Their ages are based on when I first started working on their saves/when i made them, with the youngest being this year and the oldest being around 12 years ago now! List of those in the shot below the cut:

Karmel - Burnt Sugar/Around The Mulberry Bush My first legacy/rainbowcy founder! He was made in TS3 originally, and his family’s story ran 5 generations.

Dapple - Prism Pop!/Ashes to Ashes I originally made Dapple as an extra for Burnt Sugar back in TS3. When I got into doing BPRs she got remade in TS4.

Silver Bell - Mystical Magical Moppets One of my first TS4 founders! She was the founder of a 100 baby challenge on my old blog that got 2 generations in. I’ve attempted to restart it on my youtube channel but keep forgetting to edit the videos i’ve done.

Rosa - It Takes A Queen Founder of my original Disney Princess Rainbowcy, Rosa is in fact berry, despite looking more Vanilla!

Urs - Kismet Made for a Tarot Storytelling Challenge, Urs has resurfaced this year as my History Challenge founder!

Rosewater - Dacquoise Delights Founder of my Pastel Patisserie Challenge playthrough, this one is a perpetual WIP, with me re-shooting the first generation when it got ported to this blog.

Bee - Perfect Sim Challenge A never posted challenge, Bee was the founder of my Perfect Sim gameplay. 

Vinca - Floret, A BPR Founder of a supernatural BPR I was writing for a while that took on a new view on storytelling where it was told through the main character recording their thoughts on a video camera. This one was scrapped when I lost all i’d written :(

Daisy Luminosity - BPR CAS Legacy My first CAS Legacy! This one is no longer on the blog, but I still have the sims and pics if anyone wants me to repost it.

Aspen - Stardew Valley Challenge Another unposted gem, this one I still have the pictures for. It was going to be story heavy talking about Aspen’s life in Stardew Valley. Complete with banilla’d characters from the game it was fun to play!

Mint Chip & Papaya Rose - Tea-Too Not So Berry From my NSB Portrait/CAS Legacy, these were the founders! It was also kind of a perfect genetics challenge, where the kids needed Mint’s eyes, and Papaya’s magic to become heir. Needless to say there are a lot of kids in this save. Dahlia - Literary Twist A secret squirrel project i’ll one day finish!

Pearl Semibreve - LMDS/LMDS CAS Legacy Founder of my failed LMDS and ongoing LMDS CAS Legacy, Pearl is a sim I love and hope to be able to use elsewhere.

Meadow - Seven Songs CAS Legacy To be honest, Meadow should be further up on the list. I made her several years ago but her story never took off. Imagine finding a portal that took you elsewhere in the world, or to another dimension. What would happen if you found someone who had fallen through? And you fell in love?

Winter - Genesis The protagonist of my NaNoWrimo work, and the founder of what will hopefully be a very interesting story. Stay tuned for this one, it’s due to start in 2021!

These are some background stuff regarding my story, White Lies and Half Truths, and some of the very minor characters. 

1. Despite having a tangible plot, White Lies and Half Truths is completely game-driven. The only reason why so many of my characters die (or will die) was that I didn’t have the no-culling mod back in early 2015, so they all died once they left the lot. Mind you, the culling cap was 180 back then. Everyone died immediately LOL.

2. Connor Murphy only has a huge family because he looks like a gd townie and I honestly thought every other sim was related to him when I first started playing, there I said it !!!!!! 

3. A very minor character, George Fleur, a man who owns a flower shop in Willow Creek, was a sim I couldn’t grab the name of that had the NPC gardener role. Because he eventually went on to have a daughter one of my legacy kiddos married, he had to exist, so he had to have a name. He was named after the daisies I grew in my room in secret when I was 6 years old. ...Yes, I named my daisies George. Why George? There’s a monkey out there I’m always compared to, so might as well have something named after that

4.  Victor Caruso, another very minor character, was the imaginary friend of one of my girls in a TS3 save I had in Roaring Heights. He looked like a trainwreck, as most imaginary friends who become “real” do by default (unless y’all got something magical idk), with purple hair and very very angry brows. He was a really good kid, played piano, sculpted, whatever; But he always got into trouble because his dumbass was always like 2 feet away from the lot, so he got busted for curfew ALL the time.

In my story, however, he did away with his purple locks (sad, really) but kept his very angry brows. He’s sort of a bad seed too, but he’s also still a misunderstood dumbass who whittles (since we can’t sculpt insane things like ice statues or whatever in TS4. ...Yet.)

5. Kaitlin O’Rourke was originally this horrible maid I had who stole books from me--Not that I really cared since I was loaded, but it still annoyed me that I had to keep buying the same damn book over and over. ...But it’s probably because I stole her son, so she stole books from me instead. 

In my story, she’s a bit of a childish character (and now a klepto) who wanted revenge against the man who killed her father [figure]. Yeah... Her son comes into play someday, but that day is not today.

And that’s it! There’s my 5. I usually try to keep things vague about my story since it’s not in the usual Tumblr format so I doubt anyone’s interested 🤔

What’s your favorite sims death?

Um, interesting question. I can honestly answer I don’t know. The first sim I ever played died by fire. I didn’t realize I needed a fire alarm in the house in order for the help she called to actually show up. So yeah...

Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

I just want good CC that doesn’t mess up my game.

Do you cheat when your sims gain weight?

I don’t know that I’ve had any sim in S3 that has gained a bunch of weight. They stay pretty much where I’ve made them for the most part. My S4 sims I’m learning aren’t quite the same way. I guess that would be a no then.

Do you use move objects?

Yes.

That’s like asking me to pick my favorite child. It just can’t be done! Seriously they are all my favorite for one reason or another.

Have you made a simself?

Yep. I made her years ago and update her time to time. She even got to play a role in one of my friend’s stories. I took a liking to one of her characters and she brought me in as a surprise blind date for him. :) She also has a secret harem of men that people have kindly sent to her.

What sim traits do you give yourself?

 I don’t recall actually. The ones in the picture above were new picks for another prompt. LOL

Which is your favorite EA hair color?

Not sure I have a favorite, but for the sake of this thing I’ll go with brown with some highlights.

Favorite EA hair?

For males I like the wavy fro that came with Island Paradise, for females harder to pick since I use more CC hair but I’ll say The Killer Curls

Are you a builder or are you in it for the gameplay?

Neither. I’m more storyteller these days but on occasion I still play just for the fun of it.

No. But there have been plenty of times I wish I could make CC or poses

I do have some simblr friends. Not many, but that’s okay. I don’t talk much and probably do more lurking. The few I do interact with are all very cool and genuine people which is why I interact with them. :) I need this space to be fun and drama free.

Sandy, aka @aroundthesims. If there was Sims Hall of Fame she would deserve to be in there on the tallest pedestal there is. I can’t fathom the debt of gratitude we all owe her, she has contributed so much to each franchise and to the community. I LOVE YOU, SANDY! (no need to change this answer)

How long have you had a simblr?

Oh man, um 2 years maybe.

How do you edit your pictures?

I don’t really. Too much effort that I don’t want to put in. LOL I add things sometimes and by me I mean I ask a friend for help. ( @daijahv you’re always a life saver). But for the most part what I have in game is what ends up on my blog. I’m basic that way.

What expansion/game/stuff pack do you want next?

I’m a TS3 player first and foremost. I play S4, but not super into like I am for S3.

Simblr Asks - TS3

Saw these questions by Teauke on my dash, and y’all know I love talking/ranting about The Sims; let’s go! ^0^

1. how big is your mods folder?

That’s my mods folder with only mods/hacks/overrides; no CAS or build/buy CC installed. It’s a miracle that nothing conflicts, at least not as far as I can tell.

2. how would you describe your style? A sporadic mix of tv/gaming fandom-inspired conversions and recreations, of mostly fanciful and/or cultural themes & genres.

3. What is your favorite challenge? I’m a builder at heart, so I love recreating lots and interiors. Challenges where we find IRL rooms/scenes and remake them in TS3 are always the most fun for me.

4. do you make cc? if so, what kind? I make fanciful & cultural custom content (occult, sci-fi, boho, etc). I make CAS CC sometimes, but I prefer making buy/build CC.

5. what type of cc do you hoard? Not everything, but a lot. As creators retire and links die, I’m even more paranoid than I already was that CC will no longer be available anywhere.

6. what default eyes and skin do you use? I don’t use default-replacement skintones, but I do use Buhudain’s You Are Real mod.

As for eye defaults, I absolutely love Moonskin’s Shiny Glass replacements.

7. how many urls have you had, and what are the meanings behind them? All of my simming URLs on MTS, TSR, the officials, and Tumblr are some variation of my first name, Murfee Lee. Because yes, I am that darn creative.

8. who is your favorite gameplay blog? 9. who is your favorite storytelling blog? Ugh, there are too many good ones out there.

10. who is your favorite cc creator? All of my favorite creators retired years ago: DyM/Hekate999 (fantasy build/buy), Parsimonious (everything), Luna (everything build/buy), Qingshuangtongzi (Asian everything), Amethyst (Asian CAS), Art-Sims (CAS everything), etc. I swear, the day Sandy/ATS3 (everything build/buy) retires is the day I’m having a panic attack.

11. how do you edit your photos? Badly. Tweak the brightness & contrast and call it a effing day.

12. what is the last screenshot you took? It’s a surprise.

13. what do you do when you are unmotivated? I am never “unmotivated,” so much as I am distracted. I think the reason I’ve simmed so long is strictly because I’m always inspired by fandoms. If I get distracted by a tv/game, it becomes my next muse (aka current obsession). It’s not that I get unmotivated to finish the old stuff I pretty much abandon, it’s just that there aren’t enough hours in the day for me to do everything I want. Sometimes I return to older saves/gameplay. Most times I don’t though--unless someone messages me wanting to see it again (and that’s effing rare). 

14. who is your current favorite sim? Sakura and Nasir are my alltime favorite sims. But I must admit that I patted myself on the back pretty dang hard when I created Tsukihime-Sama for my Moon Medicine gameplay. I love every sim I made for that gameplay (which I really need to finish one day, ugh), but my Lunar Moth Goddess? 👌

15. who is your current favorite sim that is not by you? Every sim that @obscurus-noctem​​ is out here sacrificing goats in order to create. It’s just disgusting how pretty everything on their blog is. Those mersims? Those graphics? That editing? Makes me effing sick. 

16. recreate someone else’s sim in your style. I think I saw a challenge like this a few months/years ago, but never did it. But I DID do the Picrew version.

17. do you talk about sims with people in real life? One of my professors plays SimCity. Naturally, we bonded over how wack EA is. ^_^

18. how many of the packs do you own? All of them, except the Stuff Packs. Barring Fast Lane and Movie Stuff, none of the other SPs are worth the price; it’s just build/buy/CAS CC any MaxisMatch creator.could make for free. I’ve always felt that way about SPs, which is why I never bothered with them in TS1 or TS2 either. I will say though, that TS4′s SPs are something else entirely, which brings me to #24 (see below).

19. how many posts do you have on your blog currently? 2764. JESUS.

20. how many drafts do you have on your blog currently? 363. U_U And most of those are CC sets & gameplay posts I never finished.  

21. how many posts are in your queue currently? It’s a secret. ^_^

22. have you ever moved blogs? Never. I never even changed my theme or URL.

23. are you in any sims related discord servers? Yes, the Creators Cave, but I effing hate Discord; it’s just a royal pain to navigate, IMO.

24. what are your thoughts on the most recent pack? (paranormal) Speaking of Stuff Packs!

RANT ALERT!

If anything, TS4′s SPs are doing way too much (adding new gameplay, careers, lifestates/NPCs, lots, etc!? WUT.) Or rather, its EPs aren’t doing nearly enough. I love that TS4′s SPs add meaningful content. But if they’re raising their bar, that means the Expansion Packs need to rise by the same degree, to stay relevant, if anything.

But EA, in their infinite ineptitude, seems to be scaling back with their EPs! Cutting what should be 1 cohesive EP into multiple SPs & GPs piecemeals the content and cheats people out of money, by having us pay more for less! The TS4 SPs do a lot, yes, but now let’s talk about the Paranormal SP for example:

Paranormal Stuff does perhaps the most any SP in The Sims 1/2/3/4 ever has, and has by far the most worth for its money...but at a dire cost:

- the career only has 5 levels instead of 10 (thus being nowhere as deep as TS3′s combination of the Ambition EP’s Ghost Hunter and the Store’s crystal ball--which links with the Supernatural EP’s Spellcasting skill)

the crystal ball is a 1-trick pony

unlocking Bonehilda is tied to grinding skill/career levels, only for her to do EFF ALL once she finally arrives (and her face looks like melted cookie dough WTF)

most of the gameplay is tied to the pack’s new lot/venue

and the ghosts are still meh

So rather than TS4 having an actual Supernatural EP, instead it has the ok-but-disappointing Realm of Magic Game Pack (which I’ve already ranted about), the watered-down Paranormal Stuff Pack, and the INCREDIBLY OP Vampires Game Pack (which I’ve salivated over). That’s already $40--the cost of TS3′s Supernatural Expansion Pack, mind you--but with the glaringly absent inclusion of Fairies, Werewolves, AND Zombies. O_O WHAT THE HELL, EA. To get the full Supernatural experience in TS4 is gonna end up running people not $40, but perhaps DOUBLE, if werewolves & fairies get their own GPs (unless EA waters them down in SPs, which would still be anywhere from $50-60). EA is robbing people blind.

25. how many hours have you played sims? I have no idea, no doubt thousands.

26. if you play gameplay, do you play with mods? See #1 above

27. what’s the farthest you’ve gotten in a challenge? See #3 above.
