another art thing that kinda messes me up is how on rare occasions an artist will have a real knack for coming up with unique and interesting character *appearances* without actually Making Characters. i’ve seen design practice sheets full of genuinely impressive variations in facial structure and been unable to get past the sense that the artist was drawing different faces but not different people

One day, Gjör and her peers were lead by their mentor Opheria, to a mission far from their home. On the peak of that mountain village, they saw upon the horizon, the castle of their home go up in flames. Horrified and scared, the apprentices sought to follow their mentors guidance, and followed her lead into a small barn. It was there, that Opheria proceeded to slaughter each and everyone of the apprentices. It seemed she somehow had a hand in this sudden attack on the Order of Palms. Gjör D'annevual survived a sword through the 'heart', on account of a rare condition, that places her heart on the other side of her chest. When she finally managed to bring herself back home, the Order was insulted by her survival. She had so many better peers, why couldn't any of them have survived? This runt was seriously the only thing that survived Opherias wrath? It was better to just wash their hands clean of this. Thus the Order decided to banish Gjör from their ranks. She now travels the land in search of a purpose.

A group of friends who, two years ago, journeyed the Unova region together; however, an undisclosed incident at the Pokemon League has changed their lives forever. In the absence of their Hero of Truth, they have decided to seek their own paths.

Hilbert Blackburn - An earnest youth from Nuvema Town, and Unova's Hero of Truth. His current whereabouts are unknown, as he's fled the region with Reshiram. Not many people, besides his secretive friends, seem to know the real him- outside of the fact he was very honest about his feelings.

Cheren Slater - Aspertia City's new gym leader, and the trainer school's teacher. He holds the truth to Hilbert's disappearance and what happened at the league that day, but refuses to share. The traveling companion and mentor of the Aspertia Trio.

Bianca Alabaster - Assistant to Professor Juniper and Fennel, and a protege of Lenora and Shauntal. She has a lot on her plate, particularly with investigating the legends of the dragons and exploration of the dreamworld. She has a keen eye for seeing the truth beneath the surface.

Hilda Weiss - A battle prodigy of Nimbasa City and the Battle Subway's most beloved regular, who had started her journey four years prior to the other three; as a result, she's the most experienced, and is considered an Ace Trainer. Somewhat cynical and grounded, but holds all her friends close to her heart.

Personality: Foy is a troll of few words, she dosen't speak full sentences but only communicates vaugely to whoever she's talking to. Whenever she doesn't remember the name of a person, she uses various nicknames all based on appearance. Despite living in the forset her whole life, she is pretty adaptable and can make herself at home anywhere. However, she can be conciliatory, and she can calm angry trolls down, not completely but to the best of her ability. Foy shows her serious side when encountering a troll she dosen't like like hunters and outsiders.

She's the only white wolf in her clan, she can't camoflauge but her agility makes up for it

Translation notes:

In Maxwell’s character story, he only ever refers to the woman from his past as his “love,“ which left the relationship vague. The character used in the “beloved wife” bullet point (妻) is most commonly defined as “wife,” but there are some archaic definitions that make it out to mean something more like “better half” or “my dear.” This phrasing seems to be confirmation that they were married, but I think there’s still some room to interpret it a different way.

“Real face” seems to be a term that’s related to personality, probably better translated as “true colors.” However, since it seems like they were also using it to refer to his physical appearance in addition to his personality, “real face” worked a little better.

I'm not a "new musical theatre style music" person. Never have been.

Even when I was doing voice lessons, I'd steer towards the golden age or jazzy musical theatre songs. My voice teacher would have to drag me kicking and screaming towards adding anything new musical theatre to my repertoire. For a while, the most modern song in my book was I Know The Truth from Aida, and I wouldn't count that as new musical theatre style since I mean more the Pasek&Paul or Joe Iconis type.

And now I have an audition coming up for a small production of a show in that style and I'm supposed to sing a song in a similar style. And I'm looking at all my sheet music like... let me do some Cole Porter... or Gershwin... at least Sondheim please...
