Here is what Trump promises his base.

He will ban abortion nationwide. He will legally delegitimize trans Americans. He will indict his political enemies. He will round up, intern, and deport undocumented immigrants. He will send the military to the border. He will invade Mexico. He will round up the homeless and send the National Guard into cities to fight crime. He will bring back the death penalty in a big way. He will roll back all of Biden’s climate progress and reinvest in fossil fuels. He will overhaul the education system in the MAGA image. He will torch the First Amendment by going after non-MAGA media.

I have worked weird shifts at warehouses for the last almost 8 years. Every year, for the last almost 8 years, I have had to work on Easter Sunday. It's not one of the recognized major holidays we get a day off/holiday pay for. Dunno why, it's just not.

My mom was telling me how she got a ham for Sunday and all this shit and I'm sitting there nodding along and finally said, "Oooo, I get ham when I get home from work."

She looked at me like I had just said the most horrific and stupid thing ever. "You have to WORK on EASTER SUNDAY!?"

........."Yeah. I've always had to work on Easter Sunday if my shift is Sunday thru Thursday. Even at Eby (old job) I'd have to work Easter Sunday. You KNOW this. Why is this a surprise? You told me in the past that yeah, it sucks, but most places don't close for Easter."

She legit got so disgusted over the fact I have to work on a Holy Day. "It's just not right! It's our Holy Day! You shouldn't have to work on Easter! This is what is wrong with our country!"

I’ve thought about stuff like this for a while, and being in the United States does often feel like a privilege, but that’s only because I’m a cis-passing, het-passing white person who is lucky to be in a good position financially. I have friends whose parents are unable to support them once they finish high school. One is already working several jobs to save up to be able to have a place to live, and I can’t really do much for them. I want to make my country a better place so that no one’s child will ever have to worry if they can afford to eat and have shelter. No one deserves to live in poverty, especially when individuals get to thrive off of their underpaid labor. I am a queer person, and last summer, I was unable to get a job at the majority of places I applied for. Only one place accepted, but I was eventually ghosted by my manager about my work schedule for months, and was soft-locked into quitting. The two biggest candidates in an election I have no control over get to decide whether or not I can exist safely or have a career or control of my own body. And the pledge of allegiance was made to sell more flags.

Imagine believing that children should be required to say the words "with liberty and justice for all" then punishing them when they actually demand liberty and justice for all.
