I kind of feel like this entire election has been watching a car crash in slow motion. I didn't even dare to hope we'd have a different outcome (though I'm not sure my activity on here conveyed that), and here we are.
I think the fear about Project 2025 is legitimate. I think that it is reasonable to be afraid. And maybe it is Wednesday morning bravado speaking but like. It was never going to end with this election. We have had no choice but to fight and while it may be harder the fight is still on.
You don't just roll over and accept fascism. You don't. You can't. We can't.

i can’t wait until Trump is defeated and evil goes away forever and we can just all fuck and suck each other and eat hamburgers and nothing bad ever happens to anyone ever again. only 3 more days until all of the worlds problems go away forever and we can stop pretending to care about each other again.

It's a cold comfort but I do like the idea of a bunch of people throwing themselves like lemmings at McDonald hamburgers contaminated with like fucking turbo botulism or whatever because Trump and RFK Junior tweeted that actually they were perfectly safe and they post photos of them meeting them before violently shitting themselves to death to own the libs. There's a small satisfaction in that.

==
Panel 1: a sign outside a diner
CENTRAL DINER WELCOME BACK ELITIST COASTAL REPORTERS
==
Panel 2: a reporter talking to a waitress
Waitress: Hey, Bill. It's been a while! What's your angle, hon? Reporter: Trump's enduring popularity with salt-of-the-Earth real Americans. Waitress: You'll want Roger and Abby over in booth 4. Roger (in a red cap): Over here!
==
Panel 3: A reporter calling out to men in red caps in booths
Reporter: Anybody here a real American farm owner with a severe labor shortage who doesn't know that Trump opposes immigration? Man in red cap: Me! Have a seat!
==
Panel 4: A reporter and a cameraman at a booth with a woman (Sandra) eating a hamburger
Reporter: Hi, Sandra. Just sit here while I tape my intro... Sandra: Alright. Reporter: "Here in America's real heartland, very real Americans have not wavered in their support of Donald Trump."
==
Panel 5: The reporter from panel 4 continues to speak, while a woman reporter holding a notebook calls out to men in booths wearing red caps
Panel 4 reporter: Outside the ivory-tower confines of the coastal bubble where not-real Americans live, the prosecutions of Trump are seen as... Woman reporter: I'm on deadline! Anyone here a charismatic White Supremacist? Man in booth: Yo!
==
Panel 6: Reporter with a laptop at a booth with a woman drinking coffee
Reporter: Maybe with less racism, tell me again why you support Trump. Woman: Well, when he talks about non-Whites, he really tells it like it is. Reporter: Mmm... A little less.
==
Panel 7: Angry man in MAGA cap at booth talking to rapt reporter
Man: Yes, I'd like to punch you in your lamestream vermin face. Reporter: Fascinating! What are your views on Bud Light? On the price of eggs? Tell me *every*thing!
==
Panel 8: Couple talking to reporter while new man enters diner and speaks to Beth, the waitress
Man from couple: Everyone at January 6 was an FBI agent! Woman from couple: And everyone was a freedom-fighting patriot! Reporter: Got it. Both. Man talking to Beth: Table for one.
==
Panel 9: Man who entered restaurant turns to leave while Beth the waitress talks with him
Beth: Are you coastal media elite or heartland real American interview subject, hon? Speech bubble from out-of-panel: "Then Jack slams his real American fist into my effete, overeducated jaw!" SFX: POW! Man leaving diner: Never mind. I'll eat at home.

Trump voters should have to look the women they love most in the face and tell them they value their basic human rights less than the possibility of getting a cheaper hamburger at McDonald's

i dont know if i actually buy the "inflation decided the election" narrative, because numerically speaking it looks like roughly the same number of people voted for trump in 2024 as voted for him in 2020, and harris lost because about 15 million fewer people voted for her than voted for biden.
so if we assume that most of those trump voters are probably the same people as last time i wouldnt be surprised to hear that the issues most important to them were the ones trump was harping on, it foesnt tell us anything about why 15 million people who voted in 2020 sat out this election
i mean, it could have been inflation still. but the narrative of "15 million people sat this one out because hamburger too expensive" doesnt sit right with me.in fact, im not entirely convinced this even has anything to do with policy, i think when you get low turnout it's because you failed to make a case to the american people why they should pay attention. maybe you need to appeal more to the heart than the brain. give people a reason to give a shit. they wont get there on their own

i need to know the aunt and uncle furry story immediately please and thank you and i love your user
Okay so
First you need to know about my Aunt and Uncle. They are the most right wing, Trump voting, God fearing Christian people in my family. Yet growing up they were also on the chill side. Like they had no problem with their kids playing Dungeons and Dragons and they would read fantasy novels no problem. They were always good at staying hip with technology, too. This isn't really related to the story but I really wanted to paint a picture of these two.
Anyway so a few years back I'm at a family BBQ at their house, eating a hamburger I've stolen off the grill before it was cooked into a hockey Puck, talking to my cousins when my Aunt and Uncle walk up to me and ask me what a furry is.
Folks, that was the day I learned my fear reflex is freeze, because I was frozen on the spot. After what felt like an eternity of my brain working out what just happened I did my niece duty and explain to them what furries are. Their expressions only grew curious asi did so, which worried me as I thought oh no, they're going to want more details.
Instead they explained to me why they asked. It turned out that they was a furry meet up in their small town at the fire station. Usually it was pretty hush-hush and on the downlow but that year a very large multi-person fight broke out and the police were called to break it up and arrest people still in their fur suits. It made bit of a commotion in their small town to say the least.
Now what gets me about this was the thought process my Aunt and Uncle went through when they heard this news and were confused over what furries were.
Did they, technologically minded people, look online for the answer? Thankfully no.
Did they ask any of their own children? Also no.
Did they no doubt look at each other and say "You know who knows what a furry isand will tell us? Our niece!"
And they were correct.
