Pink Pony Club Episode-911
Thanks to @speaknowbuckley I gained the motivation to finish this plot idea for what I picture for a queer central episode (Gay club, because its LA and I am desperate for ABC to allow us to see that side of the city!) for 9-1-1! (Also im back from vacation yay!)
Title: The Pink Pony Club (Please know that its been a Chappell Summer for me truly)
Main Plot/Episode Dynamic:
I see this following a bit after Bucks initial coming out as Bi (I initially had this before he actually was confirmed bi so I saw him coming out alone, but I can still see this with the buck/tommy coming out as well!). Takes place during pride month and Hen is watching as Buck is excited for his first pride month as not and ally™. I see her wanting to take Buck out with her and Karen to the bars to celebrate, and of course Chim and Eddie may have overheard and become jealous to join (letting them all come along for support and just fun). Overall its an episode that explore a lot. Buck feeling scared to feel accepted into the queer community finally, that maybe he isn't queer enough (possibly exploring Bi hatred within the community) (for me bi hatred and eraser is something that I would love to see touched upon especially now with how people have been reacting to bi characters becoming a norm) and scared to head out to the bars. But having a Buck and Hen brother sister scene where she convinces him that he should celebrate and love himself. Eventually planning outfits together. I see buck finally letting go as he walks into the first bar. People dancing around without a care, queens, men, women. Standing on the floor and letting the music mute his racing mind, finally letting himself sway to the music with a content happiness. Hen and Karen smiling proudly as they join in.
Oh but don't think this whole story is just on Buck and Hen. I love a queer Eddie arch and if I was a writer for ABC this would be the first fucking stone cast for this arch. Eddie walking into that bar initially without any worry. He was an ally and doing this for his best friends, no worries there. Why would he be? He’s straight... right? But why as he's watching buck dance with men does he have this pain in his chest. Or seeing other men dance together with such joy and ease. Why as he sips and chats with a drag queen at the bar does he feel the most like he’s at ease and belongs somewhere than ever before? Why does the episode end with Eddie sneaking off back to the very same bar the next night without the rest of the 118 as a soft melody of pink pony club plays, a smile etching across his face as the lights over cast his face (I NNEEEDDD).
Oh and Chim, having a fucking blast as per usual with Maddie.
Songs Used/When they would be used:
9-1-1's sound track to me at least has always been phenomenal for storytelling and setting the mood. So for an actual pride episode like this I would want some good bangers (I made a playlist that I may post later lol)
1. If I Had You- Adam Lambert
2. Pink Pony Club – Chappell Roan
3. Rush- Troye Sivan (See this as more of a background song)
4. I Know a Place- MUNA
5. Its Raining Men- The Weather Girls
There is more but these are *my* essentials
Possible Emergencies:
I would love for the conversation of Buck wanting/starting to look into queer culture and history after coming out to be shown on a call at a drag show/club. The same club that the 1(gay)teen shows up to later in the episode. Something about the dimensions of how certain heels are made for drag performers or how thick costumes (tights, tucks, etc.) can be and how that queen or queens ended up in that situation.
A pride parade incident? (I wrote a possible scenario where there is one with Take me to Church over it and gods let me be a writer, PS I don't think I'm a good writer at all lol)
Again thank you for coming to my Ted Talk I will take my exit..
#911 abc#evan buckley#911#hen wilson#chimney han#eddie diaz#pride episode please#I know it never airs in June so its slim but this shows time line is already fucked#I've spent too much time thinking of this ugh

I'm curious, what relationships headcanons do you have for the Alan Becker characters?
For example, what is the relationship between the Hollow Heads/Color Gang? Or do you have any ships?
Sorry if I'm annoying, I'm just really curious!
You're alright!
To be honest with you, I mostly consume AvA/M content than create my own headcanons ^^;;;
That is to say, I don't think too hard about mine? They just. Float around, and come up whenever I draw something and I just go, "Ah yes. That is them."
I don't ship anyone and mostly see the CG as best friends who live together like a family. Not totally siblings but just. Just found family? It's very hard to describe but here's some duos:
Orange and Green - I see them as creative rivals. Also kinda see them as the responsible ones of the group- even though I actually headcanon Orange to be younger than the four, he just has responsible one vibes lmao. They're said to be close since they're the first to make contact with each other, and I imagine Green was at first responsible (sort of) for Orange for a little while in the beginning until Orange became confident and comfortable enough around the group. I feel Orange interacts with Green the most in the group because of this.
Green and Blue - They hang around each other a lot, and that kinda makes me think that they always did even before meeting Orange. Minus Orange, they seem to be the ones with eyes for detail in the group, so they likely bond over that too sometimes. They look after each other often, checking in on each other. Green's impatience and Blue's pacifism clash sometimes, but they almost always seem to be on board with each other's ideas.
Green and Yellow - They like to one up each other especially in competitions. I feel they annoy each other the most and are spiteful of each other. But, I can see them just having each other's backs anyhow. Chill when chill, unless either one of them disturbs the peace, yknow for fun. They are both mischievous for sure.
Yellow and Blue - I love this duo in canon! Even in the very early episodes, I've always loved that they seem close. Blue often being the emotional one and Yellow often being the one trying to comfort them. I don't know man, I see them as soft towards each other? But not afraid to mess with each other either.
Red and Yellow - Prankster duo. They enable each other's curiosity and terrible ideas. Though, I do think Yellow wouldn't always be on board. It's funny to me Yellow is more cautious while Red just goes straight into situations so Yellow unfortunately has to deal with that.
Red and Blue - I don't see them often together but I always find them so wholesome. They compete over little things, push each other playfully, and awe over cute animals. They're just. They wholesome
CG and Purple - I love the idea of Red and Green being the friendliest towards Purple. I mean, that's true in canon too, with Green especially. Blue and Purple would bond over plants. Yellow and Purple would bond over code, and be competitive with each other as well. With Orange, Im not sure? They're okay with each other I guess?
CG and Mango - Neutral, Im guessing. They're forgiving of a grieving old man/lh but would certainly not forget about the entirety of s3. Now whether or not Mango and Purple live together, I honestly do not know. I do like to think Purple is welcome to stay in Mango's home but they just go elsewhere often, whether to stay in minecraft or do some temporary job.
For the Hollowheads:
Chosen and Dark - They were best friends, and then fell out due to a misunderstanding. I don't really want to believe Dark is truly dead, but Chosen would unfortunately believe that. Angst™. Tbh I actually don't have much for them unless canon tells me more, so this is all I have.
Chosen and Orange - Siblings. I've always liked the idea Orange looks up to Chosen, and I guess Chosen would kinda be uncomfortable with that. And then AvA 6 ep 1 happened, so now Orange knows Chosen is a dork. A very caring older sibling dork. Who kidnapped and endangered him- but still.
I unfortunately have nothing for Victim. (Canon and Fanon)
This is messy, and I apologize profusely

So I've been scouring ao3 for less emotionally devastating Torchwood content, and I have a few questions for the fandom.
1. What the hell is ianto and Jack's ship name?
Iack? (It can't be iack. How would you even pronounce that? Yack?) Janto? Jarkness? Hones? ...The Face of iantbo? (I kinda love that one) But anyway, what's the general consensus?
2. Why do so many people hate Gwen? I stopped watching after That Episode™ in Children if Earth so did something happen after?
3. Are there any fics where Jack meets River? Because I for one think that would be a truly unhinged dynamic.
4. To be honest any fic recommendations would be appreciated, so long as they're fluffy and nobody dies :)
Can you help me out? It's my first day and I'm scared a Gwen basher will put me in a locker.

Heyo, so, I noticed your reblog on a post mentioning "Dier Venture" and now I'm intrigued... is that a Mistborn oc fic I smell? Exploring the Venture family? Because if so, I would love to read it! (If Dier is just an obscure canon character or something else entirely, ignore this ask. 😅)
OH BOY UHHH OKAY SIT DOWN LET ME TALK ABOUT SECRETS IN STAINED GLASS.
(Character portraits by the insanely talented Elisgardor on Instagram)
Dier Venture is my character for a murder-mystery actual play series Secrets in Stained Glass that just finished airing! It's set 10 years before the events of The Final Empire book, at a weekend winter solstice party hosted by House Elariel. We use the Mistborn Adventure Game system to build our characters and roll the dice, and the mystery and storyline itself were written and run by the ever amazing, ever wonderful @rashenditrash as our illustrious Narrator. There's a lot of fun references to the books and secrets tucked away, and even though it's technically a prequel, we did a lot of work to make sure things would fit within the Mistborn canon as seamlessly as possible.
It's five episodes long, though there's some written bonus content as well! The series was edited and produced by yours truly (it nearly killed me, but it was absolutely a labor of love) and you can watch the whole thing on YouTube or listen to the audio versions on whatever podcast platform you prefer. Though, I will say, for any audio listeners, there are a LOT of visual assets and graphics for this show so if you just listen, it might be worth coming back to look up the visual elements afterward.
Lo, trailer be upon ye:
youtube
As for Dier himself... (fine, i'll put a cut to save people's dashboards, open for more info on The Trashboi™)
Dier is a known Coinshot and all around terrible trash person who makes only the best life decisions because it turns out when your name is "Venture" you can get away with quite a bit without having to deal with pesky things like "consequences." Or so he thinks, at least. He's the first cousin of the recently ascended House Lord, Straff, and is technically second in line for the house title after his cousin's little brat of an heir, Elend. No one in House Venture is really thrilled about that, including Dier himself, since he's probably the last person anyone should ever put in charge of anything and has made it no secret that he considers himself completely allergic to responsibility.
I love this asshole with my whole heart, I put WAY too much effort into developing him, and he was a blast to play. I could talk about him for hours, and Matt was an utterly ruthless Game Master and just really dug into all the messy complexities of this terrible boy and Why He Is Like That, Why Did You Make Him Like That, Feather????
The good people of the 17th Shard Discord may or may not be bullying me into doing a 10-hour stream so that I can just blab all the Dier meta into the world. We'll see.
Regardless, I love to talk about him, so if anybody ever has Dier Venture questions, my inbox is literally always the most open, haaaaaa. I will never turn down an opportunity to run my mouth about an OC and that is a threat.
#brandon sanderson#mistborn#cosmere#actual play#secrets in stained glass#diceborn#dier venture#my god i love him so much#he's the worst#also thank you for this question to give me an excuse to RAMBLE about SiSG#SiSG my beloved#the show that really did almost kill me twice

i was stoned most excellently last night. so much so, in fact, that i woke up this morning under the belief that i had imagined all of the information i had received about the season finale of The CW Television Program, The Winchesters™. as it happens, i did not. that was a real event that occurred.
jensen ross ackles truly was so righteously pissed off by the supposed ending of dean winchester (wherein he dies on a piece of rebar while hunting vampire mimes that his stupid, abusive father couldn't finish off; gets to a weird, empty-feeling heaven, where his car is and his boyfriend supposedly also is, but we never see him; then proceeds to drive around aimlessly for forty fucking human years, all while his brother lives a full life on earth) that he:
bought the rights to make more supernatural content
stole the talents he wanted from the original series, and crafted a season's worth of television
sold it as a prequel to the series and got it greenlit
made the fucking thing
began airing it on television, playing it straight (to my knowledge) for twelve episodes
swerved it in the season finale, revealing the universe of The CW Television Program, The Winchesters™ to be an alternate one, which the Real Dean Winchester (AS IN, THE DEAD ONE, FROM ACTUAL SUPERNATURAL) time-travels-slash-dimension-hops to by driving his fucking magic school bus miracle heaven car, with his also-dead adoptive father in tow, to help fight some evil creature that the capricious god of the regular series left there. then he plays matchmaker with the alternate universe versions of his parents, then gets told by his own adoptive son (who just so happens to be the new god, we remember) that he needs to stop fucking around here, or he won't be allowed to go back to heaven. so the entire show is a continuation of supernatural, masquerading as a prequel.
unparalleled media experience bro fucking UNPARALLELED
#shut up kell#I WILL NEVER BE FREE OF SPN AND NEITHER WILL HE AND THATS OKAY!!!#WE COULD GET A TENTH CANON DESTIEL HERE GUYS. WE COULD.

So, uh... Lazytown was a thing during my adolescent years, but for me, only a thing I was aware of rather than a thing I was into. Even years later as I was becoming an adult and it had a revival, I only knew it through The Memes(TM). But late last year, partially on a whim and partially because August this year will mark the fifth anniversary of when a truly special, wonderful, and irreplaceable human being named Stefan Karl Stefansson tragically left this world, I decided to give Magnus Scheving’s original Icelandic stage play Áfram Latibær! and its direct sequel Glanni Glæpur í Latabæ (which introduced Stefansson as Glanni/Robbie) a watch. The first one was unironically fun but also super hokey and cheap in a lot of ways. The sequel was superior in almost all ways. Both of them got me in the mood to give a look to the TV show and see what I’d slept on (ha ha) for so long.
After having watched a few episodes here and there, I can say that this show...is basic. That’s really the best word for it. Worse childrens shows have been made, but better ones exist as well. Sometimes the writing is solid and will get a laugh out of me, other times it’s just dumb and eyeroll-inducing. I’m not a fan of the puppet characters and kind of check out when the focus is on them, the song and dance numbers can be hit or miss, Stephanie’s pretty cool when played by Julianna Rose Mauriello rather than Chloe Lang (more the material’s fault than Lang’s, she was a better Stephanie in her TikTok videos), and on that note I’m not even touching the Cartoonito Era of the show beyond the meme-worthy Robbie Rotten content it gave us. Also, how dare the show leave out Officer Obtuse, that is a crime!
But none of that matters because this post is really about the two characters pictured above - Robbie Rotten, played by the late and great Stefan Karl Stefansson, and Sportacus, played by Magnus Scheving himself. These two are what make the series for me. In the plays and the show, they’re the strongest elements. The actors’ portrayal of them is obviously a huge part of it (seriously, how the Hell was I sleeping on Robbie for so long? The guy’s legit hilarious!), but there’s something deeper that strikes me about them - they’re the best example of a Role Model VS an Anti Role Model I’ve ever seen.
What I mean by that is that Sportacus is the guy you like, you root for, and want to emulate in life. He’s there to make kids want to get more active, eat healthier, and make wiser life choices. Hell, he makes me want to get more active, eat healthier, and make wiser life choices! His athleticism and acrobatic abilities are like I’ve not seen since John Stork AKA Hyper-Strike on Who Wants To Be A Super Hero?, and his positive attitude and affable personality marks him as the Good Guy, the one you wish you could be like. ...But there’s always that awareness in the back of your mind that unless you are a very dedicated and talented pro gymnast like Magnus is, you will never be anywhere near as cool. You can follow in Sportacus’ footsteps but you cannot actually walk in them, it’s beyond you. Meanwhile, you’ve got Robbie Rotten, the guy you boo and hiss and enjoy watching as he gets thwarted, ridiculed, and bested every time he gets up to no good. You like him because he’s funny and not all that evil or dangerous (in the show, I mean - OG Glanni Glæpur was quite a different story), but do NOT want to emulate him and his lifestyle because it’s not at all subtle that he’s in the wrong, that sloth and gluttony are sins not to be encouraged in children. ...And yet, if you’re to be honest with yourself, you either know this guy or are this guy. You identify more with Robbie than with Sportacus because aside from the Jim Carrey-esque cartooniness and villainy, he’s more feasible. Any child could prefer to live more like how he does, and carry those preferences well into adulthood. It may not be healthy, but it’s easy, relaxing, self-gratifying and comfortably routine. Even if you’re better adjusted, you can’t help but find Robbie to be relatable in various ways at various points. Your want to not be like him is in part because you recognize in yourself qualities that he displays.
Yeah so basically I stan. These are iconic and immortal characters for a damn good reason.

goatman anon back again - this isn’t my theory but my friend’s theory instead, your tags on the walter post reminded me of and made me laugh because my friend has been adamant since Walter Scene 1 that Misty is going to kill him and eat him and that the season will end with a bunch of cuts/montage of the girls in the wilderness eating someone and Misty and everyone in current times carving up Walter, probably at Lottie’s camp in the woods. My friend keeps smacking her hand on the table and going “this is a show about parallels!” when asked to explain further
welcome back goatman anon!!! hope you are well (personally I am not because we don't have a new yj episode this friday. alas.) some of my long rambling below the cut, you know the drill.
THIS SHOW IS ABOUT PARALLELS. 100%. And parallels between Misty/Walter and Misty/Crystal in last week's episode leads me to believe that Walter ending up dead is most certainly a possibility!! My own dear friend is adamant that he will not be gone for good (and considering his Moriarty line, that tracks for me as well). We have seen Adult Misty kill and clean up other kills without remorse when it comes to people threatening the Yellowjackets. So if Walter decides to make himself a problem for the team (most likely by inserting himself into the Adam case further, or trying to stick his nose into Lottie's tree cult somehow) I have no doubt that he will end up six feet under <3
HOWEVER. I don't think they will eat him. Lol. The showrunners themselves have made it clear they don't think the cannibalism is the most fucked up thing about the show, and there would be no way for them to justify it - such a huge part of each of their psyches is *justifying* their behavior, and the horrors of not being able to (such as with Tai's sleepwalking and Shauna's hunger for chaos).
I would argue what most of the girls are craving is less the devouring (literal) but more so the devouring (metaphorical) that the wilderness offered them. No societal rules, just violence and desire and community. When it comes to Misty, while she was pretty blasé about the eating Snackie thing (though disappointed about the lack of bone broth #RIP), the cannibalism doesn't itch at her skin like it did with Shauna. No, what she wants instead so badly is to feel *needed* and a part of something bigger. That's why she breaks the black box, after all. And also to be allowed to be a little freak <3 LOL
Last episode makes it a point to set up the parallels between Walter and Crystal (wanting Misty's attention, sharing similar interests, flattering her, sharing secrets) but also between Walter and Misty herself (see: the hotel scene). Misty, while initially being flattered by Walter's attention, becomes increasingly annoyed by it, because it reminds her of HERSELF. Specifically the worst parts, the things that have made her an outcast her whole life.
But whereas Walter is content to be an outcast and has no idea the horrors of the wilderness, Misty has *never* been content in her own loneliness and craves the wilderness because even if she can't be LIKED, she can be NEEDED out there. This is why Nat's rejection hurts her, right? Like Misty is nuts™ but KNOWS, on some level, that Nat doesn't love her like she loves Nat (platonically, though I am a mistynat shipper for funsies lol) so she settles for Nat NEEDING her instead. Being liked is fleeting but being needed is forever (in her head, at least).
Walter just doesn't get that. He wants companionship, sure, and if he truly is seeking out Misty because he sees her as a kindred spirit (I am reserving judgement on whether his arc will have some twist about his intentions) then that is a wonderful opportunity in his eyes. But he doesn't need to be needed, he doesn't need to sink his claws into someone because he is afraid of being left without them. When Misty told Walter to leave, he did without much argument. But when Nat told Misty to leave, she fucking REFUSED and dug her heels in.
All of this is to say.....I am hoping Misty kills Walter, because it will be satisfying to see the parallels of her killing what *could* have been her next Crystal, but also killing herself in a way.....yes indeed. But eating him? Nah, I just don't see it.
#asks#yellowjackets#sorry this got LONG#can you tell misty is my favorite <3#LOL#I hope she kills walter as a little treat :)

Tracking Kou and Aoba's romantic progress in Cross Game: Volume 1
You having fun? Pitching like that. It's August, AKA Koushien month (it's almost over but I started reading earlier plz understand), and I've been in an Adachimood™, so I've been catching up to Mix by rereading it from the beginning. But! My mind keeps wandering in the direction of Cross Game. Now, I adore Mix. It's a perfectly entertaining slice of life baseball manga, and grandpa Adachi is still a master at his craft. It definitely succeeds more on the spokon aspect compared to his previous outings, but with the larger cast and its focus on legacy (aka HEYDOYOUREMEMBERTOUCH? + ~familia~), it's rather lacking in the romance department. I miss the romance of Kou and Aoba, I'm desperate as fuck for more content of them, so I...keep going back. I can't stop thinking about the gradual development of their relationship, how they fell for each other before they could even realize it, how they expressed their feelings at the end... So I am going to track their romantic development for my own sanity and to clear up some misconceptions I've been reading, because Adachi is a subtle little shit and some of us are too dumb for his storytelling, like myself back when Cross Game was serialized.
Chapter 1
Back when I read Cross Game in HS, I never actually parsed it as a romcom. I was simply sold by the first episode's ending and fell in love Adachi's storytelling. Aoba is, however, the first girl introduced. She is our heroine, despite the first volume informing us otherwise.
As much as Kou likes to object to Wakaba's PDA and bossing him around, she has him wrapped around her finger.
We start the first chapter, and the first volume, off with a full four leaf clover.
Chapter 2
Kou may deny it, but Wakaba makes it clear to the world that she is his girlfriend.
Chapter 3
The four Tsukishima sisters, each representing a leaf in the clover. Wakaba's is the left.
Likely when Akaishi started to give up on Wakaba. Kou always has and always will be the main character in her heart.
Impressive, Aoba.
Chapter 4
It's funny how only Aoba fails to see his good sides, arguably because she fails to see her own because she's so insecure. Her sisters are well aware of how thoughtful he actually is.
Chapter 5
At this point, Kou still couldn't care less about baseball. But Aoba looks pretty damn cool when she plays, does she not? On the other hand, their families believe Kou and Waka are fated to be with each other. After all, they were born on the same day, in the same hospital, and grew up down the street to each other.
Wakaba agrees. Aoba does not.
And unlike her sister, Aoba has high standards for her ideal man.
Chapter 6
Do you ever see a pitcher so cool, that she inspires you to reach her level? Initially just to compete with her, but later on to seek her approval.
Chapter 7
This is the image of Kou that Aoba will cement in her brain for the next four years: a lazy slob who has no respect for the sport she loves.
But he's already showing her signs of how capable he can become with some hard work.
Unlike her sister, Waka truly believes in Kou. She knows Kou is capable of throwing 160km/h; it's a goal she sets for Kou, to prove to Ao that he can, so she can finally eat her words and come to like (platonic) him. Aoba, on the other hand, loves her older sister so much that she would never steal her man, even if he does grow into her own ideal (as if she would ever entertain this idea in the first place).
Chapter 8
Kou may not admit it out loud, but he's smitten.
They are very well dating at this point, as young as they may be.
Chapter 9
And, she's gone.
Chapter 10
What can you do but honor your last memory of her?
And thus we continue our story with a single leaf faded. If you want to watch the first episode, which covers the first volume:
youtube
youtube
#kouao play-by-play#i am pretty sure i own the first volume somewhere because i thought of the first volume/episode as its own perfect self-contained story#now that i am older i care more about ship#i really want to get back to reading mix lmao

The problem with the Sad Boi™ Archetype in fan fiction.
Take all of this with a grain of salt, I'm just ranting here and my only credentials are the science, psychology and sociology classes I have under my belt. Trigger warning for dark or disturbing content.
Essentially the idea of the Sad Boi™ trope is taking a character who has canonical trauma and amplifying it in fan works. While this alone isn't exactly a bad thing as it can focus on the potential trauma and help identify what could be done for the character to recover in a healthy way, many people take it to the extreme and instead decide to baby or romanticize the trauma of the character.
For example : Lloyd.
There's no denying that Lloyd absolutely has his fair share of trauma and PTSD. Whether it's from his father, his mother, Harumi, whoever, I'm of the opinion that it's safe to say he's got some shit going on. When he sees his mother again for the first time in years, his reaction is to be angry at her for leaving him and then running away. Ultimately he forgave her in that same episode after hearing her out and very quickly becomes close with her.
Then there's the trauma of his father - who he had to grow up without because of the venom running through his veins. Lloyd in his father's absence sought to be just like him on what can be assumed to be an effort to get his attention and love. Of course this later changes when Lloyd joins the ninja and is discovered to be the one destined to fight his father, which also changes their dynamic dramatically, as well as his trauma.
Lloyd expressed many times how he didn't want to fight his father and would try at any costs to get him back, freezing during their first confrontation when he could have taken him out, trying to get through to him while he was possessed, etc. He couldn't ignore that what his father was doing was wrong, but he still felt conflicted about him. Of course he was able to save his father, until he lost him again, got him back, lost him yet again, got him back once more but now he was evil again and then, finally, Garmadon disappears once more, still very evil. Daddy issues central up in here, but it's not discussed in the show.
Then there's the topic of Morro and Harumi, two major villains who directly had an impact on Lloyd. Morro completely stripped him of his autonomy, forced him to fight his friends, used him as blackmail, manipulated him with his father, and of course, y'know, tried to curse NinjaGo. Of course the show doesn't dive into the aspects of how that can royally mess up a person, but it's implied in later seasons that it still has an impact on the team. One can only imagine the pain he went through and how he coped with it, but when told to trust Morro by Master Wu, he puts his weapon away and listens to him. He doesn't point fingers and get angry, he calms down.
Now, lets talk about Harumi. Lloyd's first love and kind of sister... Yeah, best not to think about that part, the writers were clearly on drugs. Anyways, it was clear that Lloyd deeply cared about and trusted her, only fer her to take advantage of him and hurt him in the worst ways possible. Yet even after all of that, he still wanted to see the good in her, and still thinks of her often. You can even argue the whole relationship gave him PTSD as he later on doesn't trust Vania because of her relationship with Cole, but he quickly gets over that. Then she's used against him once more by Unagami, where he truly believes she can change and come back to him, but ultimately knows it's impossible as she isn't the real Harumi.
What can we tell from all of this? That Lloyd isn't an idiot - he knows when someone has done something wrong and will react to it accordingly, but he's ultimately a very loving and trusting person who can see past the flaws in someone and find something good. Despite this, I see too many depictions of him being babied for his trauma and treated as though his possible depression is severe and life threatening. I myself may be guilty of analyzing his trauma and exploring the more dark sides of it, but I refuse to be guilty of amplifying it to such a degree that he needs someone to "take care of" him or protect him. As a character, Lloyd is very mature and handles his problems well, if only when they're brought up that is. In fanon, he's a depressed angsty teenager who hides in his room all the time lamenting over everything that's ever hurt him. Not to say that's not a realistic response because it is, but it's very out of character for him, and yet seems to be accepted as fanon.
In short, instead of highlighting the potential of his PTSD, many fans exaggerate it to the point where someone needs to "take care" of this character, and it seems to be targeting mostly the male characters. Often times when I see this trope in action, I also see the female characters being highlighted as monster who either helped to cause the trauma, or actively make it worse. It really upsets me to see the misogyny of fandoms being weaponized in a way that can really negatively showcase depression and even romanticize it.
At the end of the day, this is fan fiction and I don't really care about it enough to go on a rampage because I do have a life outside of the internet, but just a thought.

I will always ask for more, lol! Tell me more about truly and mouse and how she adopted him! I love that!
Should I go to sleep on time? Yes. Am I going to? No. I'm going to make gifs and rewatch clips of the three (3) actual Mouse & Trudy scenes so I can yell about the little found family that I love so, so much, because at any given moment I am thinking about them. this is more important than being rested for work honestly
The thing is, we don't get a lot of content for them, and that makes sense considering how big the ensemble was back when Mouse was on the show (there was a full Intelligence team, plus two regular patrol characters, whereas now we really only focus on Intelligence, which has open spots, and there are no regular patrol characters). All we get for them are small scenes that I love to read into. Because I'm me.
Basically, Mama Bear Trudy™ has low key adopted everyone at some point, but there are a few people she adopted especially hard. Mouse is one of them.
(under a cut because so many gifs and so much babbling) (warnings for: brief mention of Mouse's time in the army and allusion to his medical discharge, gifs featuring guns, discussion of typical procedural violence including a snippet of canon dialogue about a murder-suicide inside of a police station)
The first scene they actually have together is in 2x16, when Trudy is interviewing him for the tech position in intelligence. Mouse spends the entire time fidgety and anxious
affectionately, Mouse.exe has crashed. which is fair. interviews are stressful. especially when this poor boy has mommy issues and now he's faced with *gestures to the energy in the room* it's just. he's not having a good time. which means this is Trudy's very first impression of him that isn't some story Jay told about their time in the army and it's heavily implied that Jay doesn't like talking about it, so the first she could have heard of Mouse was idk maybe Adam making a comment about the case he helped with in s1
and she can kind of... tell that he's anxious. mostly because he's really not hiding it.
and for context, the dialogue in this scene kind of adds to the Vibe™
T: "So, you were a Ranger." M: "Yes, uh, yes. Sergeant. I did, uh, two tours in Afghanistan." T: "Why'd you leave the unit?" M: "Well, the Army gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams. That's why I'm here today." T: "What's this about a medical discharge?" M: "Yes. Yes, ma'am." T: "...Why the medical discharge, Mouse?" M: "Uhm... well, there was a- there was a convoy, and, uh, I was- I was in the- the lead Humvee. It- it was me and Jay, actually... um... um..." T: "Hey." M: "Huh?" T: "We're good."
it's the way I could write essays about this scene alone and the way Mouse zones out while thinking about his trauma and the very gentle "hey [...] we're good" like yes Trudy I also immediately adopted him that's extremely valid
But that's really the first hint we get of their relationship, this very gentle moment that is such a sharp contrast to his other interview with Voight earlier in the episode. That one was very "explain your felony record and prove that you deserve to be here," whereas Trudy is so much more... relaxed, almost? He's already proved himself to Voight, so she kind of just brushes off the record and it's not up to her to decide if he's capable of the job, she just has to give him clearance and... basically check his vibes.
And then she gets to see this moment of vulnerability where he's being asked to be open and talk about this huge traumatic thing that happened to him, and you know what? maybe she will go easy on him. if he's good enough for Jay to call him a friend and good enough that Voight is willing to look past his record, then that's good enough for her too.
And by the time we get to the next real scene they have together (in 3x03), they're closer. They have this little kind of banter that's so light even in the busy lobby while she's trying to handle like 20 people at once. Even when she brushes him off, it's so much gentler than the frustrated orders she was giving to the other officers and civilians around them.
M: "Hey, Sarge. I need you signature on this requisition form. Voight wants new pinhole cameras." T: "Not now, Mouse." M: "He was very clear about his instructions. You gonna send me back empty-handed?"
Then, as he's being pushed aside, Mouse still does this little "no!" that is just. I love it. I love him. It's so glorious I mean. look at him.
It's this very familiar moment in the midst of all this chaos and I love it so much.
And then seconds later, Mouse gets grabbed, and who's the first person to react? Mom™
immediately, Trudy has her gun out, and she's ready to go. Mama Bear Mode™ is activated. someone threatened a cub and she's out for blood.
and I've already screamed about this little moment a million times, but I've been thinking all day about how Mouse is so calm through all of this. he's got a gun to his head for hours during the episode, and he's very calm through most of it, even putting on a braver face at one point. hard and determined instead of calm and neutral. but there is one moment where he shows his fear and it's this moment:
when he looks from Voight, to Kim, and then to Trudy. and it's the one time all episode that he shows his fear, and we see that Trudy also sees that look, and she's still pissed someone has her son at gunpoint of course she's pissed
There's another moment, later in the episode, when Mouse is inside and still being held hostage, where Trudy goes to Voight to talk to him about it, I don't have a gif of it but she does that anxiety thing where she keeps tucking her hair back even when it's already behind her ears? that constant I Need To Be Doing Something motion. it makes me feel things
T: "There was a guy who walked into the 31st, years back - bad domestic." V: "He had a .32 in his sock, killed his wife, a cop, and then himself." T: "The district, the front desk, it's a sacred place. If people don't feel safe walking in there-" V: "Trudy. This isn't gonna end like that." T: "You make sure, Hank."
She never says that she's worried about Mouse specifically, but she doesn't have to. Even Voight is quick to jump in and reassure her that no one is going to get shot or hurt like that - and the most obvious person in danger in that moment, the only person he would need to reassure anyone about, is Mouse. Who, let's be honest, Trudy would have legally adopted and put it on paper if he wasn't 30.
the fact that we get no follow up on all of Trudy's worry and we don't even get to see her reaction when they get him out of there safe is an attack on me personally. that is his Mom™ and we don't even get to see her checking on him after that ordeal? fake. I guess I have to write the fic myself.
And then we really don't get any other scenes of them together until over a season later. We don't get any major interaction, rarely anything with them in the same room, until 4x05. Then we get the favors, and all of the implications that come with that. Trudy even goes to his goodbye party at Molly's.
And apparently the CPD writers are trying to torture me because we've gotten two episodes in s9 that feature Trudy sitting in Mouse's old tech cage and helping Intelligence. Sitting in his chair and doing his old job. And it makes me feel things.
TLDR;;
Trudy took one look at Mouse and just automatically adopted him which makes me feel incredibly perceived. but unlike Voight who's upstairs playing favorites, she consistently looks out for him and shows concern and that makes me feel so many things I miss them I want this back.

My interpretation of L's character
I've been meaning to write this for a very long time because of how extreme the takes in the fandom can get. Sometimes I see things like "L was a terrible person who only cared about power and establishing dominance in the detective world " and I go 'eh, not entirely'. Then I get out of my little curated part of the fandom bubble and see something like "L was right and he deserved much better than Light. He is justice" and suddenly I want to shove the first take into this person's face because even though I don't entirely agree with it, it makes way more sense.
Anyway, this is a result of me reading to many things I don't entirely agree with and wanting to solidify my own ideas for myself. It's basically a summary of the version of L that lives in my head.
So the first thing we need to discuss is motivation. We hear L himself say he solves cases for fun and not for justice. It is the only way he can keep his mind truly challenged. The detective expressed this as a child and Watari essentially helped him make the hobby his career. The way L was removed from humanity and his intellect never made him care about the justice involved. However the first interpretation I mentioned will go even further and say that he solved cases to maintain his dominance as 'The best detective'. I think that it was a factor but SECONDARY to the challenge element.( Not to be cliche but yes, cases are a GAME to him. And the thing most important about a game is THE PROCESS. L hates losing but he loves playing.) It's also important to mention that the reason he became such an influential entity (and not like, just some private investigator) is most likely Watari who provided him with funds, and encouraged him to do so since childhood. So yes, while I'm sure L enjoys having his best detective status(bc of the freedom and power he gets ), I don't think it was what he would originally strive for. If not for Watari, L would probably have been some well-respected eccentric british detective, not very known outside the UK (and maybe a few other European countries), and he would be more or less content.
Okay, now let's move on to how he views people.
First of all, to be a detective (you have to know which spoon to use ddhjfjajdh) you have to be good at profiling & understanding people. Cognitive empathy, if you will. We see that L's manipulation tactics FROM 2nd episode and onwards rely heavily on the biases of the person he is targeting. This seems to be key to how he goes about his job (which he chose himself) so I assume psychoanalysing is interesting to him.
I think L views people a bit like puzzles, but most are sadly very boring to solve.
He looks down on dumb / naive people (Matsuda for instance) because of their ignorance.
When it comes to individuals who aren't stupid in his mind , he doesn't personally dislike or judge them for their qualities that are different from L's. Usually only gets annoyed when they don't cooperate or are working against him. A good example of this is the rest of the taskforce, whom L somewhat respects.(Even if he is super rude to them at times)
As for his social skills, L's good at psychological manipulation so I don't think he's actually really akward and bad at them. There are several reasons he acts abnormally:
1) autism that he doesn't want or need to mask.
2) manipulating others to believe he is more clueless/harmless/trustworthy then he actually is.
(it can be either depending on the specific interaction we're looking at)
Morality
People have pointed it out that L doesn't seem to view criminals as human, and we see it demonstrated in canon. It's similar to Light but I believe it's for a (kind of)different reason.
While Light is genuinely disgusted by criminals and essentially inherited this belief from his father's strong sense of justice ™, L probably took this belief from the system itself. It essentially doesn't matter what he does to people he is trying to catch, because when they get caught they'll be imprisoned or executed anyway. He doesn't really care enough to change this narrative so he joins it. L is pretty apathetic to the concept of justice anyway and just accepts the world as unfair.(unlike Light who actually tried to change it even if his goal didn't really work)
I've seen people call L utilitarian but I would argue, he doesn't really apply morals to his actions that much. He could see Kira's killings as an actual problem but if it is a factor, it's not a big one for his character. After all, He just went along with the fucked up justice system we already have(esp in some specific countries), even if he might recognise it as problematic. I do think that he *slightly* cared about the deaths of FBI agents tho. (he shows a lot of distress in that one panel. Most of it is bc he lost the round but still. L didn't have any reason to dislike these people and they wouldn't have died if he hadn't asked them to go stalk kira suspects. The responsibility here is not on the system but on him, and the people are capable smart FBI agents )
Conformity
Due to how detached he is from society, L doesn't need to conform to most norms. He doesn't need a perfect facade like Light does. This allows L to be unapologetically himself. Because of his status as The greatest detective he also doesn't even need to follow certain laws(which is kinda fucked up) . This freedom allows his actions and appearance to reflect L's wishes overwhelmingly well. So while he often lies, the detective still expresses many more aspects of himself, then the average person. L is allowed to go further with his ruthlessness, when ordinary people can only think of it. That's why I don't think he's fundamentally evil and very different from other people psychologically, he just has the power and detachment to express his darker side.
Ego
L's pretty self-centered, arrogant and very confident with his abilities. He does not need approval of the masses or status to prove it. Because of this, he is first and foremost driven by his want to win, to solve the puzzle and establish dominance in his mind, rather then increasing his popularity or showing the world a pretty victory.
L might also be narcissistic but I don't know enough about the subject, and I'm not narcissistic myself so I don't think I have any authority to speak on this matter. (And I can't form a solid opinion yet bc of my lack of knowledge) If you want to talk about this/have any relevant information, my ask box is always open. I really need to research this topic more...
Opinion of the two kiras(yes I am making this an actual section):
Misa: L finds her motive and actions as the second kira pretty dumb and naive. He's also irritated because she is a more boring enemy to him(but at the same time more dangerous) then the first Kira who is more intelligent, has a more complex motive, and tries to maintain a reputation by not doing literally anything to achieve his goal. However later L is surprised to see how obsessive, weirdly strong willed& loyal to kira Misa is around the start of the Yotsuba arc. Then his opinion shifts from complete resentment to also finding her extreme personality vaguely intriguing and useful. Although he's still often annoyed with Misa's presence.
Light:
L's first impression was probably something like: " Kira's morals are pretty annoying, however the case seems interesting and challenging bc of the murder method and scale. Not a fan of the killer so far tho. "
Then he gradually learns about Kira's intelligence, arrogance and will to play mindgames/taunt his enemy. Things that make L more interested in who kira might be because the detective has found someone potentially similar to himself. He doesn't like Kira in any way at this point but he is curious about this person and enjoys their rivalry.
When he meets/first sees Light on surveillance, L decides he wants the student to be kira straight away. It's the most fun option to him. He is judgy of Light's social performance at the ceremony, but I don't think he openly hates Light for it. In fact, he stops having any strong personal hate for kira/Light after several days at To-Oh. They're still enemies but he doesn't despise or look down on Light anymore, sees him as a worthy opponent etc. L essentially acknowledges this in the First ever friend scene. They're both lying here but the subtext is them saying telling eachother interesting enemies.
In the Yotsuba arc, L is dissapointed and annoyed with Light. He's generally frustrated with the case because he should have caught the Kiras but there's somehow a new boring one. Everyone wants to dismiss L's deductions and move on and Light's a constant reminder of that. His change in personality makes everything even worse, because now L has to consider the option that Light was only controlled by kira, second guess his deductions etc.. Also there's now an offended police chief's son complaining about L's methods and talking about his innocence. L is bored and pissed. He tries to taunt Light because he has nothing to do anyway. Petty bitch.
When the taskforce finally get their breakthrough, he calms down a bit and works more comfortably alongside his suspect. At this point he still tries to trick Light into admitting he's kira, but he isn't so openly pissed at him and actually appreciates Light's intelligence as a partner sometimes. Maybe he tries recreate Light's thinking as kira, and understand if he lost his memories etc.
(This is a generalisation. I attempted to make it non-shippy. Might write a proper analysis of them later but it'll probably be more shippy and biased)
Final thoughts:
I know most of these things have been talked about in more detail by other people. However I wrote them to form a more solid picture in my own mind.
I would love to discuss some of the mentioned topics with other people in the fandom. You are free to disagree with me as long as you're polite, I try to be open to new ideas. L is a very interesting character to me, and he can be interpreted in so many ways it's scary.
My fave adaption version of him is probably the musical one. It's similar to the manga, but we get a lot more insight into his thought process/emotions because of the genre. He also isn't molded to be the "hero", like in a lot of other adaptions.
Anyway, this is my first attempt at writing meta. I spent way too much time on it, so I would love to see some feedback!!
#this post is a mess but I tried.#death note#dn#l lawliet#meta#death note musical#death note manga#death note meta#misa amane#light yagami#death note analysis#I'm afraid this will either get too much negative feedback or noone will see it#I hope I didn't make to many mistakes..

Queer Reviews: Nicky James, "The One That Got Away".
CW: explicit sexual content, mentions of kidnapping and child sex trafficking, stalking, paranoia, severe anxiety and panic disorder, OCD, dissociative episodes, PTSD, mildly graphic violence
Plot: Charlie Falkingham is convinced someone is after him. There are signs. There are clues, but no one believes him. After living through a childhood horror, Charlie suffers from a severe paranoia disorder, among many things, and the Hamilton Police have labeled him The Boy Who Cried Wolf. When the only person on the force who ever listened to Charlie’s concerns retires, who can Charlie reach out to for help? Arrogant and young, Officer Takoda Dyani has a chip on his shoulder a mile wide. He’s rude and brash and doesn’t play well with others. He has more enemies than friends, and he doesn’t care. When his senior officer assigns him to be Charlie’s consultant, Takoda knows it will end badly. He doesn’t have time to coddle a prissy rich boy. However, if he can’t calm Charlie’s paranoid delusions and act civil for once, he’ll lose his job. But are they delusions? The longer he knows Charlie, the more Takoda realizes, something isn’t right. Is someone stalking Charlie, or is Takoda getting too wrapped up in Charlie’s fragile world?
9/10 on the Rainbow Scale™ 🌈: HOLY SMOKES THIS BOOK MESSED ME UP IN THE BEST WAY. I'm a huge horror/suspense fan and there's nothing more satisfying to me than a really good mystery to unravel. The pacing in this novel is insane, I was 100% feeling the anxiety and terror Charlie was experiencing, especially because, as a maldaptive daydreamer and borderline agoraphobic introvert myself, I heavily identified with his character. The romance in this is truly adorable and a nice bonus, but the mystery and the suspense are the best part. A word of caution: this is not for the faint of heart. The topics explored in this novel are mature and fairly dark, so they might trigger someone's anxiety. If you personally have no problem reading mature content, then I totally reccommend this.
