It's so interesting to think of the ineffable spouses as women, because women's value in society has always lain in their appearance, and although Crowley's corporation would be very fashionable and considered very attractive in some eras (including the present), Aziraphale's body would fit the beauty ideal much more closely in others.
And of course when you are a woman, how closely you toe the line of the beauty ideal of your subculture and class determines how other people treat you.* The reception Aziraphale or Crowley receive from humans would vary far more by era when they are women, even if they are dressed to give the impression of great wealth.
Actually possibly especially if they appeared wealthy, bc poor women had more privacy and freedom of movement (less female supervision and male "protection") than wealthy ones.
But the fashions of the Edwardian era would have offered styles that suited them both. It was right in between the exaggerated hourglass curves of the Victorian era--when plump arms, cheeks, chin, etc. was the beauty ideal and pale, unfreckled skin; blonde hair; and blue eyes were the aspirational coloring--and the 1920s, whose straight-line, dropped-waist fashions demanded thin bodies with long limbs but without large breasts or hips, and the advent of photography and cinema ushered in a fashion of dramatic makeup and suited high-contrast coloring of dark hair and lighter skin.
I love seeing Azirpahale in this dark lipstick, high-color blush, and powdered skin, and how she's wearing it with white and pastel blue. I love her horridly matronly jacket with its big white rose: it's so clearly something Aziraphale would choose, no matter how old or young her corporation looked.
And I love Crowley's pale pink underskirt, especially with the dark red of the gown's shoulders. She lools so vampy, but that underskirt hints at something delicate and fragile underneath.
*The treatment is always bad regardless of whether you're "ugly" or "hot"; it's just a different kind of bad for each category.

This seems to be a fashion plate by Aubert de Dinan from 1913, as far as I could find out.
I tried to somewhat stay in the original style, but didn’t get hung up on it. Especially since I haven't found a good watercolour brush in Krita yet... if anyone has recs, I'd love to hear them!
Aziraphale's face gave me some trouble, but I think I landed on something pretty good. I am really happy with the hands, though!

Scars to your Beautiful (NejiTen)
Author’s Note: So I just got into writing fanfics, I tried to do one for another pairing that I really loved, I think it was okay. :) So I decided to give it a try again for #tentenweek2020 , and do some NejiTen one shots. I hope you guys like it and I’ll appreciate any comments or suggestions that would help me get better at writing. :) So, here’s the first one for Day 1/Prompt 2: Beauty.
PS. Who got married first and who have children first on my story doesn’t follow the canon Naruto timeline. :)
“She don't see her perfect She don't understand she's worth it Or that beauty goes deeper than the surface”
-Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara
It was the day of Hinata and Naruto’s wedding, and the reception was filled with laughter and tears from the friends and family of both parties. It was a beautiful set up, the Hyuga Grand Hall was filled with beautiful flowers and dainty decorations of purple and white. And the music currently playing was marvelous as Hinata and her Father swayed with it in the middle of the room.
From one side of the room, the rest of the Hyuuga clans were just as stoic as their usual selves as they watch their Clan Head and Clan Heir dance. Hanabi was very happy though and it shows on her face and movement. “Nii-san! Look! I think Dad’s about to cry!” she practically almost took Neji’s arm off as she held and shook it excitedly while pointing out to his elder cousin how misty his father’s eyes is. “Shhhh, Hanabi! Don’t speak so loud, you’re getting too much attention.” Neji tries to scold his younger cousin, but to no avail. She just rolled her eyes at him and mumbled something like “i don’t know how Tenten was able to last with you?” And while Neji’s sight was his sharpest sense, hearing wasn’t far behind for him. He raised his eyebrows toward Hinabi daring her to repeat what she said, but the girl merely grins at him, shrugged and turned to look at the two people still dancing on the dance floor. The two ninja Hyuugas, along with some of the Elders, were seated on the right side of the stage representing the Bride’s Family. On the Groom’s side was where Kakashi, Iruka and Tsunade are seated. Neji can’t wait for the traditional activities to end though, then he can move to the seat beside his fiancé and enjoy the rest of the evening.
Meanwhile, Tenten was seated among her fellow comrades. On her right side was his pseudo-brother, Lee, wearing a light green coat and tie as a tamer version of his favorite youthful color. It was the best he could do to look presentable for the elite clan. He was joyfully talking with Gaara, whom despite being quiet, you can see how bright his eyes are and that slight upturn of his lips, as he enjoys his partner’s company. On Tenten’s left side is another child of Suna, her once rival, now best sister/friend: Temari.
“When are we allowed to eat?” the blonde kunoichi leans to whisper in her best friend’s ear, as she rubbed her swollen baby bump. Tenten snorted and shook her head, “I swear, sometimes you just use your child as an excuse to be a glutton.” Temari narrowed her eyes towards the brunette but didn’t deny it, in fact she just shrugged it off. “What can I do? The babe wants what it wants.”
Tenten laughed, “It won’t be long now, we’ll get to eat after this Father-Daughter dance.” she answered as she sip her juice. Just then, she looked towards the stage and met eyes with her soon-to-be husband. She winks at him and giggles as she saw the blush that creeps on Neji’s cheeks as he grins at her.
_____
The end of the dance was the end of the reception’s program as well. So after it, the guests were finally able to eat and then roam around as the party continues. Neji were able to sit beside Tenten now, since the rest of their friends are moving around.
They were just looking at their friends, having small talks here and there, and just being together. It’s the way they have always been, in public they were always a quiet couple, the look in their eyes and the twitch of their lips were enough for them to communicate with each other. Neji’s arms were currently resting around her shoulders as she leans her head on his. Neji noticed that Tenten’s drinks were about done so he asked her for a refill. “One more?” He looked down on her with raised brows. “Yes, please!” She looked up at him with her wide-puppy-dog eyes. Something he rarely is able to resist. So he nodded and kissed her forehead before he stood up to get two more glasses, one for each of them.
Tenten was bobbing her head with the beat of the music when a loud laugh caught her attention. She moved her eyes to the direction of the laugh and she saw four Hyuuga women giggling and laughing. But something is different with these four, because as she continues to look at them, she realized they are looking back at her too. In fact, it seems to Tenten that she was the reason they are having too much fun. She looked around her,but there didn't seem to be anything else they could be looking at. She looks at her dress because maybe it has stains? But there isn't any. Lastly, she took a mirror on her pouch and took a look at herself on it, maybe there is dirt on her face? But there was none too. She just shrugged and continued bobbing her head with the music while waiting for Neji.
She froze though, when the 4 ladies walked passed her and she heard what they were saying while peeking at her direction:
 “She’s not even that pretty!”
“Her arms are so muscled, like it’s from a guy!”
“And legs too! look how hard it looks!”
“Oh my god! is that long line on her thigh a scar?”
They squealed and stared at her while they were passing. Whispering to themselves without knowing she could hear them even if they’re a couple of feet away from her.
It’s not something new really, Tenten is used to all the talks and bashing towards her even back when they were genins. It just built up when it became public knowledge that she and Neji are together, and even more when they got engaged. Some days she just brushed it off and never mind it. But there are days that it hits her more than it should have. Unfortunately for her, this is one of those days. And she can’t really help it, not when she’s surrounded by these people who have beautiful silvery eyes, straight shiny hairs, and silky smooth skin. The same perfect features that his boyfriend possesses. Yes, she can’t help but feel inferior especially with the possibility that some of the ladies in that same room she’s in, are the preferred bride of some Elders for their Hyuuga prodigy. Worse, one of those 4 ladies, is in fact, one of those preferred ones. So again, she just can’t help it! She became conscious of what she was wearing and what her exposed body looks like. Moving her legs closer together and spreading the table napkin on her lap to try to hide her exposed skin from her thigh-high slit dress.Casually, she touched her arms and squeezed it as if trying to see if it’s truly just as muscular as they said. She let out a sigh when she realized it’s true. Damn it, her arms could’ve been more muscular than Neji’s! Maybe she shouldn’t have worn this dress, or maybe she should’ve put some concealer on some of her scars, Maybe—
Tenten’s self-loathing was cut off when Neji arrived on their table and put down her refilled glass of wine in front of her. He took a sit beside her, then he put his right arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him,. He then pressed a soft kiss on her check then gave her a wink, which made her look at him with quizzical expression. “What?” Neji asked amusingly, but before Tenten could respond, Shikamaru and Temari came back from the dessert table bringing in a plate of tarts and mini cakes with different variations.
____
The rest of the night went by fast, Neji and Tenten was pulled to the dance floor by their friends much to their irritation. But they eventually enjoyed it when the music became slower and the couples paired up and swayed to the music. There were lots of laughing and more drinks for them to enjoy. The gang are enjoying the night away.
It’s time to go home and Neji was walking Tenten towards her apartment. Unknown to her, he actually noticed the indirect interaction between her and those four Hyuuga women. Her back was on him, so she didn't notice he was looking at her at that time. But he did, and even if he did not hear the words that was said, he saw how Tenten’s back sagged down a bit, how her head slightly bowed down, and how she unconsciously hugged herself. He saw when she took a deep sigh when she touched her muscled arm. And when he got on their table and she didn’t notice he was already there and from the side he could see that her eyes were sad, he just knew that Tenten felt intimidated and insecure because of those women. And he didn’t like it. He’s angry but he knows he can’t do anything about it. They have talked about this before and Tenten knows that it’s something she have to overcome by herself. Neji can’t fight this with her, but he can be there for her. So as he put down the drinks on the table and sat back down on his chair, he pulled her close to himself and gave her a kiss on the cheek. So, when she looked back at him with that questioning brown eyes of hers, he can’t help but smirk on how beautiful she looks when she’s confused.
They arrived at Tenten’s apartment, she just entered the door and thanked Neji for walking her home, “Thanks Ne—“ she was cut off by Neji’s soft lips on her. She was surprised with how sudden the kiss was, but eventually relaxed into it. She put her arms around his neck, her fingers stroking his hair. He pulled her closer by her waist as he deepened the kiss. When they stopped to catch their breath, they didn’t pull away with each other. They remain holding each other, with foreheads against each other, eyes closed and blissful smiles on their faces.
“You’re so beautiful.”Neji said suddenly and it made Tenten’s eyes snapped open to look at his fiancé. He was looking at her and there’s nothing but sincerity and love on those angelic pearl white eyes of his. And now she knows that he knew exactly what she was feeling. She didn’t realize that she was crying until Neji cupped her cheek with his hand and wiped the tears that fell with his thumb. His eyes were furrowed, he’s sad and angry. He doesn’t like seeing Tenten cry, so he pulled her to him again, with her head resting on her chest as he leans into her ear.
“You’ve always been the most beautiful woman in my eyes, and you will always be. I love you Tenten.” His words are so sweet and full of love, that she felt it deep into her soul. She buried her head further into his chest and held on to him for dear life, as she felt more tears run down her cheek and soaked his polo shirt.
Neji was rarely the one to initiate the showing of affection, but when he does it’s because he knows she needs it, and he knows exactly how to make her feel better. Just like tonight. Those words, that kiss and the way he holds her, it comforts her and gave her the strength to fight this insecurity.
After a while, she leaned back from the hug. She looked at him in the eye with lust and desire then she gave him a peck on the lips, and lead him towards her bedroom. That night, he continued to show her how he loves her and that there’s no one else for him but her. They made love, it was tender, it was slow. They took their time and felt every ragged breath and soft moans of each other. He kissed every scar he could see on her body, from head to toe. And he whispers words of “You’re so beautiful”, “This means strength”, “You’re so brave.”, “This shows your skills”, and of course, “I love you”. She believed everything he said and she felt it too.
As they were lying on the bed after, Tenten is resting her head on Neji’s shoulder as she traced the scar that has healed on his toned chest. The scar that almost killed him, and almost took him away from her forever. She looked up to him and gave him a smile so breathtaking he can’t help but smile. “You’re beautiful too Neji, and I love you too so much. Thank you.” She said, kissed him on the lips, then on his chest, and settled down on his shoulder again. They were silent and just held each other tightly until they both fell asleep in contented bliss.

The World of Eotheria According to Lady Valentine
Part 15: The Kingdom of LaCroix
The seven nations of humanity can best be described as three large nations and four smaller nations. I’ve already mentioned one of the three larger nations: Kresnik. The time has come now to speak of their neighbors to the east, the Kingdom of LaCroix, as well as the federal aegis that it has formed in response to Kresnik’s expansionism, the LaCroix Union.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The human population of LaCroix generally falls into one of three distinct ethnic groups. The first are the native LaCroixans, who are of moderate height and build, with skin hues ranging from tawny to fair. Their hair is usually brown or black, and their eye color varies widely, though brown is most common. The second are the ethnic group collectively known as “Northerners”. As their name implies, they hail from northern Suvitha, mostly in the cold regions of the various city-states outside of the Seven Nations, as well as the Beastlands to the north. They are of moderate build, but stout and muscular. They have fair skin, blond or light brown hair. Their eye color varies widely, but blue eyes are the most common. The third and final ethnic group are Etranans who migrated from nearby Etrana to the east. I will discuss these people in the next chapter. People of Kresnik and Ledoese descent are also known, but comparatively rarer than these three ethnic groups.
The kingdom of LaCroix was first established in 1,022 BGE, when the various smaller city-states of the region were unified as a single country under the hand of Lothair LaCroix, ruler of the city of Liongate and the first monarch of the kingdom. The nation continued its expansion, growing eastward to border Etrana (the border between the two nations had long been disputed until the coming of the Seven Goddesses), and growing northward to the elven kingdom of Firahel (which was conquered by LaCroix in 118 BGE) and the lands that are now known as the Beastlands. Like Kresnik, the original LaCroix family does not currently rule, but unlike Kresnik, the ruling family has changed hands many times over the years, sometimes by force, but sometimes peacefully as well. In all cases, the monarch takes the name of LaCroix as tradition.
The authority of the monarch is also notably less strong in LaCroix than in Kresnik, and especially Etrana, though they have more authority than Creat Pristan’s tribune. In 606 BGE Emperor Aurelian was overthrown by Pristani insurgents and the monarchy of Creat Pristan was dissolved. The same thing happened to Dmitri Kresnik roughly a hundred and fifty years later, greatly reducing the power of monarchy of Kresnik and putting much of it in the hands of the Imperial Diet. The ruler of LaCroix at this time, Queen Annette LaCroix, saw the writing on the wall. She knew that the revolutions of those nations would inspire revolutionaries in LaCroix. Rather than fight the changing times, however, Annette chose to cooperate with the Parliament and enact a series of reforms that would grant greater power to the elected officials. Though the monarch of LaCroix still has some authority, nearly all of their decisions must be approved by the Parliament. Change happened without bloodshed, and there is a reason that Annette LaCroix is remembered as one of the nation’s greatest rulers, while her contemporaries, Aurelian and Dmitri, are viewed as villains at best. Of the Seven Nations, to date only Etrana holds an absolute monarchy, though that has its own caveats which I’ll get into when we move on to their chapter.
Tumblr media
A History of War
LaCroix has a history of warfare and conquest to rival Kresnik. Regrettably, much of it was fueled by a sense of human supremacy. In the past, LaCroix had its own pantheon of gods, a pantheon that did not initially include the nation’s current patron goddess Uriel, who I’ll discuss in a bit. The head of this pantheon was Arganth, who the LaCroixians believed to be the god of humanity. He was described as more fair than any elf, more resilient than any dwarf, and stronger than any hobgoblin. The priests of Arganth were convinced that Suvitha was theirs to command, and that non-humans were fit only to serve humans, at best. Worship of Arganth actually predates the creation of the kingdom itself, having started at roughly 1,200 BGE. Indeed, much of LaCroix’s early bids for conquest were stemmed from a desire to crush the non-human races and drive them out of land that they believed was theirs by divine right. Among the first races pushed out were the gnoll packs that roamed central LaCroix, many of whom were driven further and further north into the Beastlands. Other, smaller gnoll packs kept hidden in the dense forests of LaCroix. To this day, the gnolls, who normally don’t hold grudges, refuse to work with the Kingdom of LaCroix, though few, outside of the Grizzlegrin pack, seek to harm humans either.
LaCroix continued their push further north, their next target being the high elf kingdom of Firahel. Though outnumbered by the humans, the elves proved harder to deal with, and fought the humans off for a time, until the kingdom finally fell in 118 BGE. Firahel was forcibly annexed by LaCroix, and the high elves that lived in those lands became mostly second class citizens in the kingdom.
LaCroix also had multiple wars with the Kordran as well, though this should come as no surprise. Realizing they had a common enemy, LaCroix entered into an alliance of convenience with the dwarves of the Aesir mountains. While the dwarves had favorable relations with the humans of Kresnik and Creat Pristan, they looked to LaCroix was suspicion, knowing full well of their attitude. They accepted the aid regardless. The hordes of goblinoids coming from the Kordran were too large to ignore.
Though the LaCroixians rarely warred with their neighbors to the west in Kresnik and Creat Pristan, they had more than a few disputes with Etrana, mostly over the border and which land belonged to who. These wars mostly ended in stalemates when both nations stopped to deal with greater threats, and as such little changed.
Uriel, Goddess of Justice
Things began to change in LaCroix around the 300′s BGE, when a new religion began to emerge in Liongate. This religion gave prayers to a then-unknown goddess named Uriel, who at the time was not simply a goddess of justice, but a goddess of protection and compassion. Worshippers of Uriel described her as the true goddess of humanity and labeled Arganth as a monster that had manipulated the LaCroixians for his own gain. They had a lot of support as well, mostly from the poor and middle class, as well as some nobles in Liongate that were tired of the racist wars that then-monarch Phillip LaCroix V had waged all over Suvitha. Of course, the Arganth worshippers went so far as to brand them heretics and publicly execute them as such, but this only strengthened their resolve. The conflict ended in 84 BGE, when Arthur LaCroix I, a devout worshipper of Uriel, ascended to the throne. At the same time, a great scandal involving money laundering and extortion had broken out among the Arganth priesthood. Shortly after his coronation, Arthur I made worship of Uriel the official religion of LaCroix and forbade the worship of Arganth and the old gods. The Arganth adherents fought back against this change until the Seven Goddesses descended, Uriel among them. At that point, all resistance effectively ceased.
Uriel is depicted as a LaCroixian woman with dark brown hair and azure blue eyes, clad in silvery armor, and weilding a great tower shield in one hand and a large, ivory mace in the other.  She is the goddess of light, purity, justice, protection, and compassion. Indeed, her influence has rubbed off on the LaCroixians greatly. In the Third Age, the LaCroixians have become very apologetic and renounced their earlier racism. Most of the races have slowly come to accept their apologies, though the high elves and gnolls still have a sore spot for them. Despite this, over the years LaCroix has given financial aid to the elves to help rebuild their homelands of Firahel. The current monarch, Arthur LaCroix IV, has even offered to grant the high elves of Firahel independence from LaCroix. Curiously, however, the high elves have rejected this offer. Though it’s not clear why, the likely reason is that the high elves believe that as a condition of independence, they would be forced to join the LaCroix Union out of gratitude (they do share a border with the Kresnik Empire, after all), and the high elves would very much like to avoid taking part in the humans’ war.
King Arthur LaCroix IV and the LaCroix Union
Arthur LaCroix IV, age 28, is the young monarch of the Kingdom of LaCroix. He succeeded the throne at the age of 19, a very young age for a newly crowned king. While a great deal of the power within LaCroix lies within its parliament, Arthur has proven to be a charismatic leader, a shrewd negotiator, and a powerful voice to represent the needs of his kingdom’s people. He had called for action against Kresnik’s expansionism ever since he took the throne, but it was only when the elven kingdom of Elondel fell to the Kresniks that he was able to convince parliament to act. He has made it clear that he does not want war, but he is not so foolish as to leave his kingdom unguarded. Moreover, he knows that the Kordran Empire to the south remains a constant threat regardless of the disposition of his neighbors to the west, and has called for preparing for war.
In his attempts to convince his neighbors to join the Union, few have answered the call. Etrana still refuses to budge, wanting no part of a potential war between Kresnik and LaCroix, and while they do recognize that the Kordran are a threat, they do not see them as a threat at this time, and see no need to provoke them further. The dwarves refuse to take a side; though they are more than happy to go to war with the Kordran, they know that allying with either Kresnik or LaCroix would anger the other, and remain neutral. Many of the Beastfolk tribes have joined the Union, but many more have not, being unwilling to work with humans. And the dragonborn of Penacles have always remained neutral in all worldly affairs and remain so despite Arthur’s warnings. However, most of the independent city-states northeast of LaCroix have committed to joining, my own city of Roselake excluded. Most pleasing of all, however, was the pledge of the Prime Minister of Corrindale, who vowed that the halflings of Corrindale owed a lifelong debt to LaCroix in exchange for helping to free them from their servitude of the fire giant duke Valto four hundred years ago.
Creatures of LaCroix
There are a number of unusual creatures native to LaCroix that are scarcely found anywhere else. Perhaps the most well known is the wolpertinger, which is a bizarre combination of creatures. It’s generally described as a rabbit with elk horns, fangs, bird wings, and a serpent tail. Such a thing was so bizarre that many in Western Suvitha believe it to be a myth. The reality is the wolpertinger is the creation of a wizard with far too much time on their hands that escaped and fled into the wild, breeding with the local rabbit population.
Far more sinister is the black shuck, described as a jet black dog with a single red eye in the center of its forehead. These beings appear to be native to the Shadowfell, but what they’re doing here is anyone’s guess. Regardless, they’re known for their horrific gaze which, much like a catoblepas, kills any who meet it. Thankfully they’re extremely rare, but well known enough that unexplained deaths are often attributed to them.
Tumblr media
And then you have the strigoi. These bloodsucking humanoids are often mistaken for vampires, but don’t be fooled. Vampires, like myself, are undead, while strigoi are living beings that were born as such. Despite their humanoid forms, they’re more akin to animals than humans. That’s not to say they don’t have an intelligence about them. They typically have red hair, blue eyes, and two hearts. They are also capable of transforming into animals to stalk their prey and drink their blood, and can even turn invisible. For all of their similarity to vampires, however, they have little of our strength and intelligence, and are not nearly as great a danger as a true vampire.
That wraps it up for LaCroix. In the next chapter I will discuss the Sultanate of Etrana.

Presenting....next gen MHA kids!
Featuring children of Deku, Bakugou and Shouto
Midoriya Yuuto (Age 15)
Quirk: Flame manipulation
Similar to his father in personality; gentle and soft spoken, yet can be brash, with the only glaring difference being his lack of nerves. The boy is almost always cool as a cucumber. Lives up to his given name; never shys away from helping anyone. Hates bullies above all else. It's so difficult to not like him? Great analyst .
Floofy and messy jet black hair . Kind of baby faced, but it's offset by his eyes. They're very, very dark green, almost black, and glitter in a way that is often compared to a raven, intelligent and calculating.
His hero costume is designed with built in flamethrowers for optimal use of his quirk, since he himself can only breathe out weak flames.
Midoriya Rini (Age 3)
Quirk : not manifested
Everybody's favourite. Token adorable little kid, sweet angel. Mini gender-flipped clone of her father in terms of appearance, down to the freckles. Loves sweets. Always gettong lost. (Izuku and Yuuto have both already lost several years from their lifespans, poor souls.)
Todoroki Akari (Age 16)
Quirk: Half cold half hot
Aloof and prefers to keep everyone at a somewhat professional distance, and thus is difficult to read, even by her family. Despite this, cares greatly for her family and close group of friends, and very keenly follows everything going on with all of them. This makes her a great listener and giver of sound advice. Extremely talented and lauded as the most promising hero of her generation.
Has mid back length, flaming red hair but otherwise looks hauntingly like a younger version of Todoroki Rei. It startles Shouto sometimes, and subconsciously makes him even more protective of her .
Todoroki Touma (Age 14)
Quirk: Ice creation
Has unfortunately, suffered from being in his elder sister's shadow. Used to be very close to his father before, but now spends time honing his quirk alone, with the occasional input from his mother. Despite this he does not resent his sister - in fact, he loves her dearly. His normal personality when with friends and family is not dissimilar to that of his uncle, Todoroki Natsuo.
He can't produce the sheer quantity of ice in a short time with such devastating effect as his father and sister, but can create inanimate objects by using the water in his body, and can lower the temperature of objects (again can't drop it as quickly to instant freeze) by touching them. He gets dehydrated if he keeps up his ice creation for too long. Fiercely loyal, and surprisingly good at comforting.
Silvery-grey windswept spiky hair with bangs and a strong resemblance in facial features to his father, along with black eyes. Quite the heartbreaker.
Bakugou Ryuuga (Age 16)
Quirk: Grenade
Wild, arrogant and violent. All of his father's bad traits rolled together, a true problem child. He constantly competes with Todoroki Akari. Major weakness is letting his temper get the better of his good sense. Loves winning, and is an extremely sore loser. Like with Katsuki, people are surprised that he performs well in academics. Doesn't really have any friends, and his relationship with his father is slightly strained as he is trying to correct him. Only truly positive relationships are those with his siblings, though it manifests as tough love.
Quirk is a sort of combination of explosion and telekinesis, he can infuse any thing he touches with nitroglycerin he produces in copious amounts at will, and can launch them telekinetically at foes as an explosive projectile. Telekinesis is restricted to objects only baring traces of his sweat, and the skin on his palms is not thick enough to handle creating explosions like his father.
Tall and well built, with his father's red eyes and identical gait, dressing sense and habit of sneering and baring his teeth in aggression. Has messy black hair down to his chin, with long bangs that sometimes fall over one eye.
(not unlike Kirishima with his hair down)
Bakugou Sora (Age 15)
Quirk: Telekinesis
All of Katsuki's better traits minus his negatives passed on to him. While he can be kind of egotistical, he never underestimates people, his strategic thinking, natural aptitude and intelligence always shine brightly, unblemished by faults in temperament that his father and elder brother possess. Hates losing, but on the rare occasions he does, has enough compusure to take it relatively well. Good at everything he does, ambitious, and doesn't like to waste time fooling around. Very conscious of his reputation. Borderline obsessive-compulsive, needs everything clean and in order.
Resembles his father the most in looks out of all his siblings, with the same untamed spiky blonde hair and similar features. Only major difference is his sky blue eyes.
Bakugou Katsumi (Age 10)
Quirk: Explosion
A little firecracker, in every sense of the word. Inherited her father's quirk, which she spams all the time, if only to produce crackling pops in her palms. Likewise has a fiery temper, literally blows up when her fuse is lit (even her hotshot elder brothers were terrified when she smacked her palm on the dining table to cleave it in two with a concentrated explosion), but settles down equally quickly, reminiscent of Bakugou Mitsuki. (Katsuki doesn't know whether he should be amused or scared.)
Fierce and passionate, loyal to a fault and always the centre of attention. Actually gets in fights, even with boys older than her (most of the time defending people they're picking on or calling them out on something), but like a true Bakugou, wins 'em all. (Her father and brothers, no matter how much they scold her, are always secretly proud) Oh, and if someone does end up roughing her up too much or actually hurting her, they'd have one crazy delinquent with a grenade quirk, a calculating cold hearted child prodigy and pro hero Lord Explosion Murder himself hunting them down.
Wavy ash blonde hair and red eyes . Has a funny habit of yelling "Die!" in her cute high pitched voice whenever she gets excited. Wonder where she picked it up from.

Le Cirque des Reines (group fic) - Ch. 1 - Debbie
A/N: I was just writing this for myself to begin with, but then I started putting a lot of effort into it so I thought some other people might enjoy it too! It’s pretty inspired by this fic written by The Wolf which I read a while ago, but with enough differences that they aren’t too similar… Plus I’m just also very interested in circuses right now! Everyone are still drag queens in this, but I use she/her pronouns in and out of drag for all of them (except for Major Scales, who by the way is an amazing drag king/performer who works with Jinkx very often, if you don’t know). Excuse me being a bit vague about certain things (like when this is taking place… I’ll just say it isn’t present day at least) and for any mistakes (English isn’t my first language). I don’t know how many chapters I’ll write, but I’m already working on chapter three so if people are interested there’ll be more! There’s a few pairings in this, but they aren’t the main focus of the story (Major and Jinkx aren’t together in this for starters, just best friends). Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
Jinkx couldn’t help but excitedly grab Major’s hand and squeeze it when they finally saw the tents appear in the distance. He squeezed back before speeding up a bit, pulling her along through the crowd of people heading the same directions.
They had spent hours getting ready in the back room of the small cabaret they worked in (well Jinkx had spent longer obviously and so Major had been stuck pacing around and making sure his tie was straight at least a hundred times or so while she was finishing up).
It had been months since they first heard about Le Cirque de Reines… The rumour going around was that the circus was made up entirely of drag queens and queer performers, so as soon as they heard that the circus was coming to town, they had started preparing.
The pair was, as they so often were at this point of their lives, disguised as man and wife. Jinkx was in the only drag outfit she owned herself, but that she loved very dearly: A ginger wig (slightly lighter than her natural hair colour), a long white lacy dress that had belonged to her grandmother once, her corset, stockings and the jewellery she had stolen from her mother before she ran away from her home in Portland and traveled with Major to Seattle while they were in their teens.
Major was wearing his trusty old suit that he had spent almost all of his savings on several years ago and have treasured ever since, along with an old white shirt, hat, tie, plus some old black shoes he had attempted to shine up as much as possible.
They had heard that one of the old performers at the cabaret (also a drag queen) had left to join the exact same circus, long before Jinkx and Major got the job, but it was quite possibly only a rumour. Most of their returning audience there were queer (all the performers certainly were) and they had been happy working there for a while, even for the rather small amount of money they made from it. They could be themselves backstage and were allowed to stay there for most of the day (which they often did), but they were both big dreamers and dedicated performers so they had decided to take a chance and (if all went to plan) join the circus.
As they bought their tickets, Jinkx felt the ticket lady’s eyes on her and suddenly got worried about how much she was passing. She rarely had any problems fooling people when she had to, but this lady was looking her up and down like she could see her dick clear as day right through her dress. Jinkx forced herself to uphold her confident persona and told the lady “Thank you” in her most feminine voice when they were handed their tickets. She only got a knowing, but not unkind smile in return.
“She was giving me a weird look… do you think she could tell?” Jinkx whispered worriedly as they entered the slightly crowded carnival space surrounded by colourful tents in various heights and sizes.
“Maybe she could tell because she’s a queen herself? If the rumours are true that is…” he whispered back and gave her a comforting pat on the back.
“Perhaps… I couldn’t see her very well… but we’re here now! Where should we go first?” Jinkx asked excitedly, grabbing her best friend’s arm so they wouldn’t get separated.
“How about that one?” he said pointing to a small silvery tent near them.
They cautiously stepped into the small dark room which was only lit by various candles.
“Well… It’s about time! Hello darlings…” greeted the figure sitting in the middle.
“Uhh h-hello… What do you mean?” Jinkx asked, taken aback by the forwardness of the mysterious woman.
“Sorry dear I didn’t mean to startle you! Don’t worry, I’ll explain, I promise. Come sit down! have a biscuit!” she told them and smiled brightly, putting Jinkx and Major more at ease.
They both did sit down and took a biscuit each from a tray on the table (neither of them were ever known to say no to free food).
The pair then took a moment to look around and take everything in. The woman was pale and slim, presumably rather tall, but since she was currently sat down at her low table you couldn’t tell for sure. Her hair was grey despite her young appearance. Jinkx couldn’t help, but notice her rather flat chest under her black dress and started wondering for a second before her thoughts were interrupted by the woman speaking again.
“My name is Max, what’s yours darlings?”
“My name is Jinkx and this is Major” Jinkx told, Major adding a cheesy “Pleased to meet you” and a brief handshake that made Max’ smile widen.
“Such good manners…! It’s very lovely to meet you too sweethearts! You see, I’ve been expecting that some new faces would join our little family soon… and I think I’ve found our pair” she explained, gesturing vaguely at them and nodding particularly in Jinkx’ direction, giving her that knowing look again.
Jinkx felt herself blush a bit under her many layers of makeup. Was she really that obvious?
“Does that mean you’re looking for new performers?” Major asked eagerly, seemingly not having noticed Max’ gesture.
“Well… We’re usually always open to people joining us, but we rarely seek them out ourselves these days. When I was reading my tea leaves the other night however, they told me that some new, but kindred-spirits would arrive soon and my cards said the very same thing… And judging from your energy and attire, I assume it’s you who I’ve been waiting for… You’re hoping to get a job here, correct?” she finished, grinning confidently.
“Y-yes we are” Major confirmed, looking surprised.
“So what do you do then?”
“Oh a lot of stuff really! We both sing, Major plays piano and writes music… Some burlesque, commedia dell'arte and comedy! A-and we’d like to learn more stuff too!” Jinkx rambled, trying her best to sell their abilities as effectively as possible.
“We’ve worked at a cabaret for a couple of years now and have studied commedia dell'arte in our free times” Major explained, sensing Jinkx’ nervousness and taking over before she started rambling too much. They were always fooling around trying to learn new tricks backstage so they had a fairly lengthy repertoire at this point.
“That all sounds very interesting! I’m sadly not the one who gets to make the call, but I’ll take you to Bianca after we’ve closed off and put in a good word for you! I’ve got a very good feeling about this” she promised cheerily.
“Really? You’d do that for us?” Jinkx asked incredulously. Max just nodded.
“That would be incredible of you…! We’ll see you later then I suppose” said Major.
They both thanked her gratefully before heading out of the tent again, baffled over what had just happened.
“Well that was unexpected…” mumbled Jinkx.
“It sure was…! Do you think they’ll actually let us in?” he asked, leaning in to hear her better.
“I don’t know… I sure hope so, but I’m scared of getting my hopes up too early… she said that she wasn’t the one we had to convince” she answered.
Major squeezed her hand comfortingly and grinned at her before speaking.
“This is already going better than expected though! You know what? I think this calls for a celebratory treat!” Major said, already dragging her towards a colourful food stand.
“But we already spend a great deal of our money on the tickets!” Jinkx argued worriedly, but couldn’t help staring wide eyed at the beautiful cakes and sweets as they got closer.
“Don’t worry about it! We’ll share… and we have to eat something today anyway! I promise it’ll be okay” he begged.
“Oh alright…” she said, her face lighting up instantly.
The lady in the food stand smiled widely at them. She was rather tall and was wearing a gorgeous lavender costume on her fuller figure, despite of it being hidden somewhat behind the counter. Her makeup was unlike anything Jinkx had seen before and she was completely mesmerised for a moment until the woman asked them what they wanted, her voice lisping slightly in what Jinkx thought was a quite endearing way.
They ended up buying a bag of caramel popcorn which they both agreed was the most delicious thing either of them had tasted in their lives.
The next tent they entered was bigger and already had some other spectators gathered inside. In the middle of the tent, on a slightly raised platform stage, were three clowns in very contrasting clothes and makeup.
One of them were tall, with big painted lips and a gap between her front teeth. She had big frizzy hair and wore a colourful bodysuit with a bizarre and complicated design.
Another was mainly in pink, with huge blond curls and face paint that looked reminiscent of a porcelain doll. She was wearing a big poofy dress with loads of tool sticking out from underneath and a big poofy collar to match.
The last one was bald, but had a big felt crown resting on her head. Her big purple coat was almost comically too large for her, swallowing up most of her body. She had painted her eyebrows dramatically geometric and added some painted hairs in between them.
They seemed to be wordlessly acting out a dramatic comedic scene, only ever gasping animatedly as a reaction. They used multiple props and had several interventions of tap dance, unicycling and other strange acts in between the fake arguing and visual comedy, all to the rhythm of instrumental tracks playing from an old gramophone.
Jinkx and Major watched the performance for a while, both impressed at how involved and convoluted it was, but eventually dragged themselves out and into another tent.
This one was in the classic red and white colour scheme and of a fairly average height and size. Inside was a beautiful blonde woman on a smaller raised platform, juggling several knives like it was the easiest thing in the world. The small crowd of audience in the room kept their distance from the spinning weapons, but all had their eyes glued to the performer throwing them. She was clad in a sparkling silver costume, crystals seemingly dripping off of her.
The number finished and the juggler let the knives hit the wooden scene floor one by one, just barely missing her feet before bowing elegantly.
Major was about to turn around and leave, but Jinkx grabbed his arm before he could, still watching the woman closely as she picked up some strange sticks from a table and then lit the end of them up with a candle.
She smirked at the audience before putting the flaming end of the stick into her mouth and holding it with her teeth for a good few seconds, then took it out to show the still burning flame.
Jinkx was mesmerised, both watching in awe and slightly in fear of the woman’s safety. She didn’t realise her hands were still tightly holding Major’s arm before she finally broke out of her trance and glanced at her counterpart who was grinning at her.
Jinkx kept talking about how incredible the previous performance had been and how much she loved this circus already until they entered the next tent. Inside this one was a row of burlesque dancers in gorgeous costumes that made the old one Jinkx borrowed at their cabaret look boring in comparison. Half of the group wore white and the other half black, their corsets and feathers contrasting beautifully as they danced.
“This is nothing like the show we usually get to see” mumbled Major, Jinkx nodding in agreement.
Tent upon tent they went it completely dazzled the pair. There was a brilliant blonde contortionist, a stunning aerialist, an eery looking snake charmer and many more. They truly wanted to visit every tent, but had trouble tearing their eyes off the performers and leave once they had entered. Jinkx noticed that many of the performers received cash tips from the audience and wished she could give some herself, but wasn’t willing to gamble anymore with their remaining bit of money.
Suddenly a bell rang somewhere nearby and a voice informed them that the circus would begin closing up in half an hour. Jinkx pouted, but suggested to Major that they visited the biggest of the tents lastly.
Above the entrance was a sign reading “Menagerie” in golden letters against the thick red and black fabric.
In the middle of the hay covered floor stood a woman in an elegant ringleader suitjacket over a short black dress. She watched the audience playfully from under her big lashes while calling for her assistant in a surprisingly deep voice.
The doors of a wagon at the edge of the stage suddenly opened and out came a younger girl with messy black hair riding on the back of a lioness. After taking a quick stroll around the edge of where the audience was standing, the girl brought the lion over next to the first woman and hopped off. The lion sat down obediently in between them and they begun their tricks.
The ringleader and lion trainer had a charming playful energy, the former ordering the other around, but the girl kept snapping back sassily as she helped the animal up on platforms and showed it where to run around.
The lion was then brought back into it’s wagon and the crowds attention was directed towards a bigger wagon at the opposite side of the tent. The doors opened and out came an elephant and a beautiful blonde woman with a baby elephant trailing behind her. The younger of the girls finished locking up the lion’s wagon and came over to take care of the baby, while the adult elephant lifted the blonde up onto it’s back. She was wearing a light blue ballet inspired costume and posed easily on the elephant’s back like it was nothing.
The tricks continued and so did the slightly teasing banter between the women, the elephant trainer joining a bit in as well in an accent Jinkx didn’t recognise.
The audience laughed along at their jokes in between the “oooo’s” and “aaaa’s”. Time flew by them quickly and Jinkx was almost shocked when the ringleader announced that ththeir last performance of the the night was over and told people to start heading towards the circus exist. The three women helped gather the two animals back into their wagon after waving goodbye to the crowd.
Jinkx and Major headed out of the tent as well, searching for Max in the crowded space outside.
Just when they were getting a bit worried they heard an “Oh there you are!” called out by a familiar voice behind them. The two turned around, relieved to see Max smiling at them and that she hasn’t forgotten about her promise earlier in the evening.
“Come on, I’ll take you to Bianca!” she said and pulled them both by the hand into one of the larger tents.
Inside sat several of the performers, some already beginning to de-corset and take their makeup off. They all watched Jinkx and Major curiously, but didn’t question Max on why she had brought two strangers with her backstage.
“Have any of you seen Bianca?” she asked them. Most of them shook their heads, but a blonde woman in a tight red bodysuit, that Jinkx recognised as the contortionist she had seen early, raised her hand.
“Da! I just saw her and Adore talking near Ivy’s tent” she told her, a russian accent touching her words.
“Thank you Katya!” Max said, Katya smiling wide back at her before the three left the tent again.
Max snickered at Jinkx and Major’s slightly bewildered expressions.
“We’re an odd bunch” she stated simply before pulling them around a corner over to a red and white tent that the pair had gone in earlier.
In front of it stood the ringleader and lion trainer, who Jinkx and Major presumed were Bianca and Adore. Neither of them could say that they were surprised that the stern ringmistress also was the circus’ leader.
Bianca was seemingly in the midst of untying Adore’s corset and raised one eyebrow as the she noticed the three of them. She finished unlacing the garment and turned to face them fully.
“Thanks Bee” said Adore while eyeing the newcomers curiously, but walked off nonetheless.
“And who are these two?” she asked Max. Jinkx and Major glanced nervously at each other. The woman didn’t sound so inviting to say the least… Max didn’t seem faced by her unimpressed tone however.
“Remember I told you that I saw some new people joining us soon? I think I finally found them!” she explained excitedly.
“I knew it was them the instant they walked in! And they’ve got experience too!” she continued, Jinkx and Major confirming her words by nodding eargerly.
“Alright alright! I’ll consider it.” she told Max who thanked her and walked off again, Jinkx watching her leave nervously.
“So what are your names?” Bianca asked, finally turning her full attention to Major and Jinkx.
“My name is Jinkx Monsoon”
“And I’m Major Scales”
Bianca looked Jinkx up and down quickly and forwardly asked “You’re a drag queen, right?”
Jinkx nodded again, a bit flustered that she’d been seen through once again tonight.
“Y-yeah… I also go by Jerick if you want, but I usually prefer Jinkx” she explained, still not dropping her slightly higher, feminised voice.
“And my real name is Richard, if you prefer that” Major jumped in, likely trying to divert a bit of Bianca’s attention on Jinkx as he could tell it was making her more nervous. Jinkx appreciated his thoughtfulness, but was still determined not to get freaked out by the stern looking woman.
“No that’s alright, we usually all go by our drag names around here” Bianca said nonchalantly, confirming the two’s suspicion without having to ask.
“I used to do full drag too and I’m willing to do so again, but we seem to convince more people this way” Major added.
“What do you two do then?” Bianca asked.
“We do a lot of things. We’ve worked at a cabaret for a couple of years now, where we do music performances, some burlesque, comedy and a bit of commedia dell'arte when we get the chance” Jinkx explained.
“Could you show me an example?”
“…Do you have a piano by any chance?” Major asked.
Bianca led them to yet another tent which had a beautiful piano located in the middle of it. Neither of them had seen the performance that had happened here, but they were certainly curious about it.
Major sat down and started playing one of their pieces, making sure to pick one that showed off Jinkx’ opera-esque notes and their performance energy.
They were both so focused on the song and on doing their best, that neither of them noticed that Bianca was smiling until they finished, both of them breathing heavily.
They both turned and looked expectantly at Bianca, who nodded and raised both her hands in mock defeat.
“Alright, I like you. I could see you fitting in our circus family just fine, but… Are you really prepared to do this? Understand, we’re leaving this city tomorrow and then you’d be permanently on the road for a long while. I’m pretty sure the pay is higher than at a cabaret that allows drag queens to perform, but it isn’t exactly luxury living…” she told them, her face falling back into her serious expression.
“Oh trust me, leaving isn’t the problem. We’re currently staying in a dirt cheap hotel room and we usually stay in a small messy dressing room all day…” Jinkx promised her, trailing off. Major jumped in instead.
“We’re prepared. We aren’t scared of difficult living conditions and we’ve always wanted to see the rest of the country anyway! We’re already pretty much done packing in fact.”
“Alright alright… Well we do have an extra wagon at the moment… Yes okay, you’re hired! Be here tomorrow morning and I’ll get you properly officiated” she told them, a wide smile back on her face.
Jinkx made an excited noise and they both thanked Bianca endlessly.
“Yeah yeah that’s enough” she said, but still smiled and accepted a brief hug from the both of them.
“Now get home and get some sleep in your shitty hotel room for the last time, we get up early around here” she advised them.
They ran into Max on their way out, who was now out of makeup and had shorter blonde hair without her wig, and she got a hug and “thank you” from each of them too.
Once they were outside the circus, Jinkx squealed excitedly again and pulled Major into a tight hug.
“It’s finally happening…!” she said, letting an accelerated breath escape her lips.
“No turning back now… But we can do this!” he answered, sounding determined.
Jinkx turned to look at the circus one last time for the night, before they started walking the long way back to their tiny hotel room. She couldn’t wait for tomorrow…
