Uriel is usually quite laid back and incredibly blunt but is still a demon and can cause damage should the need arise. If you’re a Drop In, you have a grimoire with the basics of magic you can learn from. You are magically powerful but arcane talent doesn’t have the potency of the more specialized supernatural gifts. A witch wouldn’t want to get into a fire flinging contest with a half-demon

PERKS

[GIFT OF THE GODS] Magic was the first gift given to humanity to protect it from predators and you know this. You have studied hard and refined your ability to use magic. You know more, have more control and greater strength than most and this is boosted further, when used in the defense of others. In addition, you no longer must rely upon tools, chants or ingredients to convey your magic, although this is more tiring.

[AS IF IT WAS ALWAYS SO] You don’t have any extra memories but it will be taken for granted you are who you say you are. Be careful, though, because you can only establish your background once. It has to be plausible and won’t create memories or evidence that support your claim, so don’t try to pretend to be Eric’s long-lost-never-heard-of-before brother. If you take steps to make this background legal, you will succeed through remarkable luck even if you don’t have the skills or contacts to do so. On this matter, the redtape sea will part for you. If you have companions, then this perk will allow you to do the same for them.

[MARTIAL PROCLIVITY] This world isn’t gentle or safe. Better to know how to kick ass than to regret not knowing. With this perk you are knowledgeable of and talented with martial arts and firearms. Your reflexes and strength are also better than average for your race. 

[MARTIAL EXPERIENCE] You have experience in combat. Maybe you were a pitfighter, pack enforcer or soldier. You know how to comport yourself under attack, are adaptive to changing circumstances and are talented in responding to threats. You also know how to lead and inspire small groups to fight together better. 

[THE WAY OF THINGS] The world in the shadows runs on rules that are not widely known by regular humans. You know those rules and the customs of your fellow supernaturals, know the loopholes and can use them to your benefit. You won’t ever make supernatural social gaffes, unless you intend them and you have a sixth sense for supernatural plots that might entangle or harm you. Combined with the Person of Note perk, you would be quite the social power house. In future jumps, you have an instinctive knowledge of ‘correct’ behavior for supernatural races and groups.

[AD HOC RITUAL] Magic is an inborn talent in this world. If you’re one of the supernatural set, then it’s almost always reserved to fuel the gifts of your race. Humans have a greater ability to cultivate its use and witches have both inborn power and knowledge. There are, however, some cosmic buttons and levers anyone can press. This perk gives a supernatural being the ability to cast your choice of three rituals. Humans can learn all five. The rituals may do the following; create an alarm ward around a property for 24 hours, recharge an enchanted item, mask your scent for 24 hours, detect magic, create a harmless light that lasts up to 24 hours, or locate an object. All rituals will take ten minutes, will require concentration and the use of candles, incense, sigils or runes etc. Witches need not take this perk as they can develop these rituals over time but if they do, they have access to the knowledge immediately and their effect may last 48 hours.

ITEMS

[ARCANE SUPPLIES] A modest selection of items and ingredients used for magic. This includes one item that can be used to focus and enhance your magic, tuned specifically for you. All expendable ingredients like incense or herbs will replenish every month. 

[ENCHANTED CLOTHES] This set of stylish but casual clothes will never stain or get dirty and will repair minor damage. You can also change their appearance once a day. If you are a shifter, they will disappear when you change and reappear when you return to human form. 

[WEAPONS] A modest cache of setting appropriate weapons and ammunition of your choice. The legal requirements for their possession and carry are included. Ammunition replenishes every month.

[CASH ADVANCE] You have a bank account with $100,000 in it. Drop-Ins will have a card to gain access to it but they cannot do anything with the account other than withdraw the money.

[TINKER’S CACHE] Parts and various odds and ends that can be used to build stuff. Tools included. Basic supplies like silver nitrate or lemon juice concentrate will replenish every month.

DISADVANTAGES

[COUNTRY COUSIN] You were born poor in the rural South (or it seems like you were) and sometimes it shows. This isn’t insurmountable but sometimes, you’re still judged by the stereotype. 

[UNWANTED RELATION] All families have them, some circles of friends have them too and you’ll be stuck with one for this jump. Maybe it’s a bigot or womanizer who darkens your door in a regular fashion. Or maybe it’s the failure of the bloodline who brought shame to your maker. No matter the particulars, you have to deal with this unwelcome individual and cannot kill or make them go away permanently. Expect them to force their presence on you on at least a monthly basis to cause drama, although you can try to limit it.

[UNDIVIDED ATTENTION] You’ve earned the notice of several supernatural factions and/or powerful individuals. Their interest in your isn’t necessarily malevolent, although at least one is guaranteed to be. You’re on the radar and should expect to be regularly involved in supernatural politics and misadventures that could risk life and limb. You can’t avoid these problems and they will occur with regularity throughout the jump.

He'd have more respect for him if he walked out even once; didn't matter if he came back groveling on his knees or not. At least he's put him out of his insufferable misery.)

The Werewolf: "Whew. I got carried away, didn't I?"

(Charles' attention snaps to The Werewolf and fights his urge to make any sudden movements. He didn't think that he had such short of a time to plan his course of action. A sharp gasp escapes him.)

(The Werewolf holds up Daniel's still beating heart by his claws, observing it with a curious gaze.)

The Werewolf: "I'm gonna be honest, I wasn't expecting this to come out all so cleanly... but I had to make sure that fucker didn't die. Tough son of a bitch."

"The fact that it's still going like this. It's fascinating... I'm not sure what to feel, but it's got me thinking -- if you had somehow gotten your way, what would've been your next move, huh?"

"That look on your face... I see. You would have. Or am I wrong? Doesn't matter though, you can see I'm very alive. You're probably wondering how could all of this happen?"

"We can discuss that later; I'm sure you'll love it."

"But first, I hope you don't mind me doing this--"

"I spent a lot of energy and you know what? All of this is makin' me hungry and I have the perfect little snack in my hand; it would be a waste and rude to Daniel if I didn't do anything with it."

"Bottom's up."

(Charles eyes widen as he watches The Werewolf tear into Daniel's heart with frightening speed and ferocity. His time is rapidly approaching and still, he has nothing. An emotion he hasn't experienced in so long wells up in his stomach.)
