I hate how oddly sexualized breasts are, and how oddly sexualized bedrooms are, and I hate how anything not inherently sexual gets sexualized, it was hot outside and me and my boyfriend were watching his friend repair his truck at my house and I had a shirt off and only my binder on since yk it was hot out, and the other guys also had their shirts off and it was considered fine, but when me and my boyfriend went to go relax in the ac in my room I changed from my binder to a sports bra cause my ribs hurt and kept a shirt off cause I was still sweating a lot and really hot, and my mom came in complaining about how I need to wear a shirt and how it's weird to wear only a bra in a bedroom with your significant other even though she knows I'm ace and she thinks it's weird since he isn't ace and I have breasts and bedrooms are sexualized, why is it okay to not have a shirt as one assigned gender and not the other, why are certain environments more sexualized than others, it makes no sense especially since we weren't doing anything sexual, neither me nor him made it weird, but my mom was making a huge deal out of having tits in a bedroom
maybe it's cause I'm autistic or maybe cause I'm asexual but I think the oversexualization of literally everything is weird

Yesterday at work a coworker told me “the heat is stuck on in here,” and I went “THAT’S why it’s so hot??”
Today I was feeling MISERABLE working in this heat, so I went ask a different coworker. “Hey, have you heard anything about the heat being stuck on in here?” He said “Well, someone has the thermostat on really high, in the break room and the bathrooms.”
I said, “Oh. Can anyone turn the thermostat down?” And my coworker said, “I don’t know.”
I said, “I’m going to be a bitch and ask. Politely. I’m asking very politely.”
(For context for everyone: I work in a truck shop, doing maintenance and repairs on trucks.)
So I walked up to our supervisor and said hey, do you know anything about the AC in here? And he said, “What AC?” which was reasonable, because I also was thinking, like, yeah I have no idea whether we have AC in the shop but I presume we don’t since we keep our huge garage doors open to the elements- that feels like a waste of money.
And I said, “Well, in the break room just now, I took a thermometer and placed it on the table and it’s 85 degrees (Fahrenheit) in there.”
And my supervisor said, “What the shit?” He walks to the break room, I walk behind him, and he opens the door to the break room, which is slightly hotter than the shop. And says, “What the crap?”
He walks off. When he returns, he, my coworker, and I talk about who might know where the thermostat is.
I dunno what he did after that, but the temperature in the break room has dropped by over five degrees, and it feels cooler in the shop.
Moral of the story: someone observed to me “yeah, we have this safety hazard going on that no one has been able to fix all day.”
And it was apparently because no one had asked?????

excerpt of the ac6 anniversary oneshot i'm writing... gonna try and get it done this week bc it's already late but, pls enjoy the little excerpt below...
-
It’d become something of an annual tradition, for him and Raven to sneak out on the anniversary of Rubicon’s liberation.
Rusty wasn’t quite sure when it all started. Not the first anniversary, not the second - maybe the third? It’d been so long ago, about thirty years now, that Rusty couldn’t really recall when it had become ironclad tradition for them, but it was a permanently pencilled in part of their calendar now.
It had evolved though, over the decades. In the early days they used to just take their ACs and forge blindly into the wilderness, until they found one of the many pieces of the Xylem that had broken up in the atmosphere and ploughed into the earth. One of them would have brought alcohol, and they’d sit and watch the sunset and the eventual sunrise, with not many words spoken between them.
But a lot had changed since the early days of Rubicon’s liberation. Thirty years was a long time to haul the half-decayed infrastructure back onto its feet, and with the Earth corporations and the PCA being blessedly (yet suspiciously) absent after being chased off, the Rubiconians had managed to reconstruct some semblance of normal life.
Farms, on land now tentatively deemed arable, thanks to the climate warming enough for the ice-melt to come down from the mountains and forge new rivers and lakes. Sustainable mealworm livestock, now that new Coral wells had been dug and secured. An actual, continuously expanding city, forged from the wreckage of one that had escaped the worst of the Fires and the Coral war - Khepri, it’d been named, after some ancient god from the ancient history Earth tried its best to bury in favour of its own narrative.
The city was still in its infant stages. There were still periods of blackouts to conserve electricity, and construction work was forever ongoing to try and address the shortage of housing and amenities, but… things were steadily looking up. They’d achieved a lot these past thirty years, and his and Raven’s own, private way of honouring the day of Rubicon’s liberation reflected that.
“We’re here, buddy. C’mon, up you get.”
Raven stirred sluggishly as Rusty patted his shoulder, lifting his head from where it’d been resting against the passenger seat’s window. He looked adorably disorientated, his reddish-brown eyes squinting at the windscreen, where the pick-up truck’s headlights lit up their surroundings partially.
A small clearing on the edge a lake - the lake hadn’t always been there, had formed over the last ten years or so from new ice-melt and heavy rains, but in the centre of it was a piece of the Xylem, rusted and overgrown with moss and vines, some of which bloomed brilliant crimson flowers this time of year, carrying a scent that was sharp but sweet.
It was like a natural monument, in its own way. Eventually this piece would rust away or sink deeper into the lake until nothing remained, but until then… well, it was the closest Xylem piece they could visit without needing to book a several day trip by car, or hopping into their ACs - which they tried to avoid nowadays, since the fuel and energy was better used towards Rubicon’s reconstruction.
“It should be clear skies tonight,” Rusty said as Raven got his bearings. “Maybe we’ll see some shooting stars, eh?”
Raven hummed softly and unclipped his seat belt. The night was warm, but Raven still grabbed the puffer jacket from where it’d been stuffed in the foot-well, tugging it on and zipping it up. Rusty shook his head with a smile but didn’t comment.
They piled out of the truck - an ancient, battered thing that Ziyi had recently revived from the scrap it had once been. With a lack of need for ‘Coral Warriors’, Ziyi had thrown herself headfirst into salvage and mechanic repairs to better serve Rubicon - made quite a name for herself, too. Rusty was just relieved that she had survived the whole Coral War mess, got to live an actual life that wasn’t just shooting corporate scum from the moment she was old enough to sit in a cockpit and learn how to pull the trigger.
It was quiet as they prepared for their anniversary. Rusty rounded the back of the truck, pulling the tarp off and checking to make sure the mattress and blankets he’d laid down there earlier hadn’t moved too much and that the alcohol had survived the journey, while Raven took out the fold out chairs and table to set them up by the lake. It was only when they were both seated in the chairs, staring out across the lake towards the rusting Xylem monument, that conversation picked up.
“Apparently, this should be better than last year’s,” Rusty said as he cracked open the alcohol bottle. “Ziyi said, and I quote, ‘it’s so disgustingly sweet it’s like licking treacle’, so, right up your alley.” Raven harrumphed softly, but there was a faint, barely there smile on his lips.
Rusty poured their drinks, and as they settled back in their seats, he couldn’t help but admire Raven. He looked completely untouched by the passage of time, almost identical to when Rusty had seen him the first time thirty years ago, without a hint of wrinkles or grey in his hair. There were some changes, though: he didn’t look so underfed or bordering unwell, with more meat on his bones, more muscle tone, and more colour to his cheeks.
He smiled more now too, was more expressive.
Rusty wasn’t much different, though. Aside from finding the occasional grey hair, he looked much the same as he did thirty years ago too - as did Uncle, though his age shone through by the increasingly stiff way he’d walk, or how long it’d take him to sit down and stand back up again. Considering he was almost one hundred years old, Rusty was still impressed at how spry and sharp he was.
These augmentations, huh? If the price for them weren’t so traumatisingly high, Rusty would think the longevity worth it.

Pod Racer! Neyo x Reader
Summary: Star Wars AU - Pod Racer Neyo wins yet another Pod Race, and decides that things need to change.
Pairing: Neyo x Reader
Word count: 1578
Songs: None
Warnings: None
A/N: This was requested by @starrrgazingbunny, so I hope it's close to what you wanted.
Divider by saradika
“How’s it looking?”
You don’t look up from the drafting paper as Neyo walks into the garage, “Bad.” You reply, as you make another note on the paper, and then spin on your stool to look at your boss.
“What’s wrong with it?” Neyo asks as he walks over and leans over your shoulder, his gaze sharp as he took in all of the information. He frowns, “It looks solid to me.”
“The numbers don’t add up. I’m telling you, that Toydarian racer did something to your pod.” You argue.
He glances at you, and then back at the numbers, “You may be right. Can you fix it?”
“What am I? A miracle worker?”
“You’ve never failed before.”
“Ugh. I hate you. Yes, I can fix it, but it’s going to take me all night, Neyo.” You say with a scowl.
He flashes the smallest smile, and you intentionally focus your attention on the draft paper so, hopefully, he won’t see you blush. Damn him and his stupid smile.
“I’ll make it up to you,” He says lightly, leaning his weight against the table.
“You better,” You pick up your pencil and start doing some quick calculations, “I like watching the races too, you know.”
“Yeah, I know.” You feel his hand, warm and gentle, on the top of your head, and then he’s gone, likely going to rest for the race the following day.
You tap your pencil against your forehead, and let out a sigh of annoyance. Later. You would deal with the emotions later. Now you need to get Neyo’s pod-racer back into working order, and make sure that it won’t blow up with him in it.
No pressure.
True to your calculations, it takes you half the night to repair the sabotage, and then the rest of the night to get the pod back to Neyo standards.
You’re running on Caf and ration bars, and almost no sleep, but the racer is in one piece, and it looks even better than it did before the sabotage. A fresh coat of paint, in Neyo’s deep crimson naturally, was the final touch.
“She looks perfect,” You jump when you hear Neyo’s voice from next to you, he glances at you, amused.
“Don’t do that!” You blurt, pressing your hand to your racing heart, “Fuck, Neyo. I need to get you a bell or something-”
He smirks, “Did you finish?” He asks.
You shoot him an offended look, “Of course I finished! She’s in perfect working order, and I even made some adjustments so sabotage like that will never happen again.”
Neyo glances at you, and a slow smile crosses his face, “Good girl.”
Oh. Nope. Abort.
You very pointedly don’t look at him, “Well, hop to it.” You said, “I’m sure you wanna give it a test.”
“Hm.” You feel his fingers against your spine for a moment, and then he’s gone, easily hopping into the pilot seat and checking the systems that you’ve already triple checked.
“Well?”
“Looks good.” He replies, his gaze locked on the panel in front of him, “All that’s left is winning the race. Maybe I’ll use the prize money to buy you something nice.”
“Please, we both know you’re going to use the prize money to upgrade the racer.” You roll your eyes, and then walk over to the racer, “Alright, time to load her up. The race starts in 3 hours, and we need to be there in one.”
“Yeah, yeah. I know.” He powers down the pod, and lifts himself, “You got things settled here?”
“Of course I do. The pod will be loaded up in fifteen and then Ace will drive the truck to the race track.”
“Do you really need Ace to drive the truck?” Neyo asks.
You roll your eyes, “A side effect of having stayed up all night, boss, is that I’m not going to the race today. I’m going to sleep.”
Neyo frowns at you, “You love the races.”
“I do. I’ll watch the next one.” You reply, “Honestly, Neyo. I need the sleep. You and Ace will be fine without me for 12 hours.”
“...fine. I’ll see you later then.” He says flatly, sounding very unimpressed, before he leaves the garage.
You momentarily feel bad for the other racers, Neyo in a foul mood meant that there were likely to be a lot of crashes. You make a note to remind Ace to pack Neyo’s thicker race suit and helmet.
And then you load up the racer and you watch as Ace and Neyo leave the garage for the race track. And as soon as the truck was gone, you vanish into your bedroom, intent on sleeping until they return in 12 hours.
10 hours later, you wake up, and immediately turn on the pod race. The race itself is long over, but you love being able to hear who won and any highlights.
A small grin crosses your lips when you hear that Neyo came in first, and you shake your head in amusement when you hear that he accidentally caused several near fatal accidents with other racers. Typical Neyo.
With the highlights running, you make your way to the kitchen that you share with Neyo, and you start making him his normal victory meal. It sounds like the race was very eventful, you kind of regret not being able to make it, but, well, you needed the sleep, so it’s a very small regret.
And, an hour and a half later, just as you pull dinner out of the oven, you hear the truck pull into the garage. You know, from years of experience, that Ace would unload the truck, and then he would clean it, before he retired to his charging station for the night. And, depending on his mood, Neyo would either come directly to the kitchen, or he would go into his room to shower.
The main door slides open, and Neyo steps into the kitchen, he looks surprised, “You made dinner?” He asks, his gaze lingering on the glass dish sitting on the counter.
“Mm. I saw that you won, so it’s your favorite.” You reply cheerfully, “It looks like it was an eventful race, I’m sorry I missed it.”
“It was alright.” He pauses, “It’s never the same when you’re not there, though.”
You roll your eyes, “So sorry that my not being there threw off your groove.”
“I accept your apology.” Neyo replies loftily, a small grin crossing his lips as you shoot him an offended look. “I want you to come to the next race.”
“So long as I don’t have to pull an all nighter, I will be.” You promise, “But it isn’t like you need me there to help ward off your adoring fans.” You tease as you think about the men and women who always tried to convince Neyo to go home with them after a race.
He scoffs. “I want to race, I don’t want any fans, adoring or otherwise.”
True. Neyo always ignores them, which only makes him more popular. But you’ve long since accepted that Neyo probably just didn’t do relationships like that. It hurts, but, well, your emotions are your problem, not his.
“If you don’t want fans, Neyo, then you need to be less charming.”
“I literally told one of the people who tried to talk me into going home with her that I didn’t want whatever diseases she was carrying.” Neyo replies blandly.
“What! Neyo! That’s so mean!” You yelp, spinning on your heel to look at him.
“Yeah, well. So is trying to pressure me into doing something I don’t want to do.” He counters.
You laugh weakly, “Neyo, I know you don’t really do relationships, but you’ve got to learn to be nicer-”
“Says who?”
“...literally everyone says you need to be nice to your fans-”
“No, not that.” Neyo interrupts, “Who says that I’m not interested in relationships?”
You blink, “Oh. I just guessed, since you never seem interested in, well, anyone.”
“I’m not interested in the vultures who swarm after I win a race, that doesn’t mean I don’t do relationships.” Neyo says.
“Ah. My bad.” You smile apologetically, and then turn to start divvying out the dinner, “In any event, you do need to start being nicer to people-”
Neyo stares at you, for a long time, and then he reaches out and stops you from serving the food, “It’s you.” He says bluntly.
“...what’s me?” You ask eyes wide.
“You’re the one I’m interested in. Have been for ages. I thought the nicknames and the way that I’m always touching you would be a bit of a hint.” Neyo continues.
You stare at him in disbelief.
He stares right back, arms folded and amusement writ on his face.
“Me?” You squeak.
“You.” He agrees, and then he smiles, “You want me to prove it, sweetheart?”
“Uh…” You’re not really sure what to say, in fact the only thought in your brain is a series of increasingly loud question marks.
He chuckles, and leans in, “Do you want me to stop?” Neyo asks, his eyes alight with mirth.
“...Please don’t.” You whisper up to him.
At that he grins, and crashes his lips against yours and starts walking you backwards out of the kitchen. You whine into the kiss and he rumbles in pleasure, as he shifts and lifts you into his arms to carry you into his room.

I am once again still working on [redacted] sapphic bang fic which is [redacted] and unshareable by Law but who wants some 9-1-1 fic I'm never gonna finish!
Why are you letting them get to you? says a voice rumbling deep in Buck’s chest which sounds suspiciously like exasperated snark and impenetrable fondness. Why are you letting them get to you when you already know what I want? And Buck doesn’t have an answer to that question, not one based on anything other than his own insecurity, his own consistent and endless not enough-ness, so he doesn’t try to find one. He just lets himself bask in the discomfort of not knowing the way out of this maze all the way back to the Diaz house, parking in the driveway next to Carla’s SUV without thinking about the fact that Eddie’s truck is still parked at the firehouse.
The discomfort is the only thing keeping him going, he thinks, like when he was still living half out of his car on a journey across the country and turned the AC to blasting just to stay awake until he could reach the next town and find a place to rest for the night. The discomfort keeps him in the moment, keeps him aware enough to know that if he allows distraction into the blur of his vision he’ll end up careening off the road ahead of him and broken beyond repair. So he ignores the voice, the one which keeps repeating, you know better than this, Buck, and he takes in the sympathy on Carla’s face where she putters around the house around Christopher’s curled-up and self-soothing position on the couch and he perches right there on the coffee table before he can think better of it. You know better than to doubt me. But Buck is made of doubt. It’s the only thing of which he’s certain.

The house gradually came into view, appearing in grayish-blue flashes through the trees which eventually opened up to a wider drive leading up to the house proper. It sat, smallish and square, cedar shake siding discolored and clearly in need of some repair. Ethan pulled right up to the porch, gravel crunching under the sedan’s tires, and parked. They sat for a few minutes just looking at the place. He took in the paint peeling off the porch, the window AC units that he could tell, even from a distance, were smudged in gray and green mold, and the array of weeds sprouting up from the gravel drive. Ethan cleared his throat, said, “Well, it’s certainly…remote.” --ch6 'Beach House'
going to be going back and adding this to the relevant chapter in a bit, but here's the beach house + truck from my fic 'all i need is some sunshine'! a friend was kind enough to make this for me c: (he closed his artstation a while back but is in the process of posting his portfolio elsewhere; will link when he does!) absolutely over the moon about being able to see this so perfectly captured!!
#spirit hat#wintersberg#friend also has zero social media presence so struggling here wanting to link to him rip#caro don't look

would you like to recommend a car to me? I am currently in a standoff with my 2005 ford taurus: i refuse to put any money into major repairs and it refuses to fucking die. it has no heat or AC and if i roll the drivers side window down all the way it won’t go back up. i am ready for a change.
parameters: i would like something with a hatchback because i have to carry stuff around for work sometimes (but never anything big enough to need an actual truck or suv). easier to parallel park than the taurus. can withstand some degree of adhd ‘shit, when did i last change the oil?’ comes in fun colors if at all possible. i have a very short commute and only need to get on the highway a couple times a month. budget is ~15k (trade-in value is, presumably, a pitying look from whoever is taking the taurus off my hands.) any suggestions?
AVERAGE EARLY 2000S FORD BEHAVIOR LMAOOOO you can pour mountain dew into the engine and saw the car in half and bury it 6 feet under and then dig it up six months later and it’ll somehow run better than it did before, just to spite you for thinking you can kill it
i would recommend a toyota matrix, which you can find with low miles for under your budget pretty easily. pretty reliable, cheap to maintain, forgiving on maintenance (within reason), available with all wheel drive, and reasonably spacious without being huge. the fun colors is a bit tough though
another solid choice would be a honda fit. they had a few issues but were generally pretty reliable and fun to drive, and came in some really fun colors, like the first gen’s metallic almost lilac or the later gen’s highlighter green
i would also recommend the mazda3 hatchback. looks like you can find ones around 10 years old for about your budget with decent mileage. they’re also pretty solid and come in some cool colors, especially the earlier ones. my dad had the sedan version but it was this beautiful purple, straight from the factory in 2007 or 2008. he almost got an almost iridescent blue-green hatchback, also a factory color
and just for fun i’ll throw in the scion xB, they’re a little funky looking but definitely meet the criteria for reliable and coming in fun colors (like there was a lavender purple one). you can find them with low mileage for under your budget and they’ll go forever
hope this helps!

My nice little car, the 2005 RAV4, has gone the way of all good things.
It never stopped running, but came back from a recent oil change with a bill of health that called for repairs worth more than double its trade-in value. So alas, that was that.
Speaking of trade-in value, I was offended on the RAV's behalf that the official number was $700. That was mostly down to high mileage - more than 217,000 - but it didn't help that the car had survived a bad encounter with a deer back in 2015. The deer was not so lucky.
In any case, I loved my little car for all 200,000 miles we rode around together, and spent its last few days taking photos of all of its funny little details, like the AC button with the paint completely worn off, and the strange odds and ends that have accumulated in nooks and crannies over the last 16 years.
The man who hauled the RAV away said that, as a high-mileage trade-in, it is headed for a wholesale auction and will probably end up at a dealership of the "Steve Says Yes!" persuasion. I like to think it will have a whole other life as somebody else's solid little car... but I was still sad to see it loaded on a truck.
My new car is a much newer RAV, because why mess with a good thing? Here's to another 200,000 miles.

Today has been one of those days that make you wonder why you even got up in the morning. My AC is busted beyond repair, of course during one of the hottest days of summer. Got a flat tire on the truck. Broke up with Merce . And I somehow managed to lock myself out so currently waiting for a locksmith. Btw; anyone around who doesn’t mind keeping a spare key for me so next time it happens, and believe me it will, I can come collect my spare from you?
Anyway, enough about me... how are y'all doing?

Transcript
Uncle Leo, 40- Software Engineer- Married to Auntie Mei: Ok! I left the last boxes in the kitchen. Do you think you’ll still need the dolly? If not, I’ll take it back to the truck.
Lee: I think we’re good now. Let me help you.
Auntie Mei, 40-Real Estate Agent-Lee’s mother’s youngest sister: (Speaking loudly in Tomarani) Neni! We are leaving soon! Where is your purse?
Neni, ??- Retiree-Lee's grandaunt: (In Tomarani)...It’s somewhere.
Anya, 52- Accountant- Lee's mother: (Whispering, in Tomarani) Do you think they’re going to be ok? The air conditioner and ceiling fan are still broken and they don’t even have a box fan. Henry’s not used to this heat. Maybe they should stay with us one more night.
Hiran, 54- Microbiologist- Lee's father: (In Tomarani) They’re going to be fine, Annie. Henry will get used to it. All they have to do is open a window; there’s a nice breeze.
Henry: (Heavily accented Tomarani)
Mali, 16- Student- Lee's sister: No! You are putting the stress on the wrong syllable. If you say it like that, you are telling someone to have a short night, instead of a good night.
Vihn, 10- Student- Lee's little cousin- Mei and Leo's son: HAHA!! A short night! *Snort*
[Laughing and conversations]
Vihn: Have a short night, Mali!
Mali: Ha! YOU have a short night! You’re the little one!
Anya: I’m just saying- it‘s no trouble at all. You can stay with us until your AC units are repaired. Henry, you’d like that better, right?
Lee: Mom...
Henry: AC would be nice, but we have so much unpacking to do still before Lee starts his classes next week.
Hiran: Speaking of which: your suitcase is still in the car!
Henry: Oh, yeah! I almost forgot! Let’s go get it!
Lee: [Heavy sigh]
Henry: Lee? Where did you go?
Henry: What’s going on?
Lee: I"M SORRY!
Henry: For what? Talk to me.
Lee: What was I thinking? What the HELL was I thinking? We had the perfect life back in San Sequoia. And now? I ruined it all. I dragged you across the world to live in a foreign country where you don’t speak the language, where the weather is hot year-round, and we bought an old house with no F*CKING AC!
Henry: Listen-
Lee: What if you decide you hate it? What if it’s too much and you want to return to San Sequoia?
Henry: Lee...
Lee: What if you end up hating me and leaving?...
Henry: Look, it’s perfectly normal to be nervous. This is a HUGE life change for us both! But...We talked about this so much! Ever since you started applying to medical school. Lee: this is the opportunity of a lifetime! You got a scholarship to one of the most respected and prestigious programs in the world! And thanks to its reciprocity agreements with all these different medical schools, transferring your license will be easy IF we decide to move. I knew what I was agreeing to when we decided to move.
Lee: But you are so far away from home...
Henry: What are you talking about? YOU are my home. Please don’t think like that. This is an adventure, and I love that I get to experience it with you.
Lee: Are you sure you are ok with all this?
Henry: You would know right away if I wasn’t.
Lee: True. You’ve always been upfront.
Henry: I’m so proud of you! My honey is going to be a kickass doctor!
Lee: It’s going to be rough for a while. I’m going to be studying all the time.
Henry: You better. I expect to be a well-kept man when you are through!
Lee: [Chuckles]
Lee: Are you ok with my family? They are pretty intense...And very loud and nosy.
Henry: I love your family! They are so warm and welcoming. They even gave up their Sunday to help us move in...That’s awesome!
Lee: I’m a lucky guy.
Henry: I will admit to being a little suspicious of Neni.
Lee: Whaaaat? Why Neni?
Henry: She keeps trying to feed me all the time. I think she’s plotting to fatten me up so she can cook me for Christmas...
Lee: Can you blame her? You’re such a snacc...
Henry: Hey... Are we ok? Are you feeling better?
Lee: Yeah...I am.
Henry: Good. If anything like this comes up again, promise me you will tell me right away. I don‘t like seeing you so upset.
Lee: Promise. And you, too, will tell me right away if anything comes up?
Henry: Something has DEFINITELY come up, baby! No AC can handle this heat!
Lee: You ridiculously adorable perv. C’mere.

Car Trouble Nightmare, Help Needed!
More details of one of the worst days I've had in a long time that will not end, under the cut. I really do need help, I feel like I'm going to cry.
On Wednesday 7/3 I went to San Jose for a friend's going away party. Party had been canceled and I was not informed, which honestly is whatever at this point. I went in to the bar anyway, had a glass of wine that someone bought for me out of pity, made new friends, sand some karaoke and started to drive home. There was a 5 car pile up on the highway that had people dead stopped, and after sitting in that for far too long, people were detouring and I followed. Got very lost. Started trying to follow signs that said "north". Finally got back on track and my car started overheating like crazy. Took the next exit and parked. Car was smoking. At this point, the sun was rising and I was exhausted. The lady who's house I was in front of let me charge my phone and she brought me ice water. I called AAA to row my car but our plan only covers 5 miles of free towing. It would be $1000 at least. Called my mom crying. She came to rescue me. While waiting a guy tried to offer help and then got weird about how cute my small feet were. Finally mom got there and we decided to tow to the nearest AAA repair place. Car would be stranded in San Leandro which is an hour and a half from home. But it got worse.
We got on the road. Stopped at taco bell so I could get some food in my system. Was okay for a bit but the sleep and food deprivation kicked in and my body started shutting down bit by bit. Heartburn came, headache, mood swings, and nausea. Mom also wasn't listening to me with the map and took a detour that she said she knew, then blamed the detour on me when it didn't work out and wouldn't drop it. Basically heckled me about it. Treated me like I was being a baby the whole way home while I was in pain, and only realized I was serious when I started having an autistic meltdown and the tics kicked in. Made it almost home in this awful state before I had to stop at Lowe's hardware store because I felt so sick. IBS had kicked in, and when I came back to the car, the taco bell promptly exited my body via throwing up profusely. It was enough to get me home but I still felt awful. Tried to clean off in the shower a bit which helped somewhat and then tried to lay down, but my body felt so uncomfortable. I was still habing an autistic sensory meltdown, but then I suddenly got really bad, and it felt like my blood was boiling and my hands were going numb. Called 911, paramedics cane and made sure I was okay, and thankfully it was just a wicked panic attack, but it took me like 36 hours to recover from that shit. Stayed at my mom's for a bit, and then on Saturday we went back to San Leandro, because I had jumped onto my dad's plan since he had 200 miles of free towing.
Soooooooo...AAAs policy is that the point of roadside assist is that they need to tow it to a repair shop. It's already at one, so they can't send a truck to pick it up just because. The only reason they can do that is if the repair place can't fix it. We'd have the free tow back home at that point but right now we're fucked. Car is stuck in San Leandro for the time being at the repair shop and since it's AAA, it'll be expensive. We wanted to go to our guy back home.
I went back today and they said it was fixed, the bill was over $1000 with the "just look at it" and "repair" fees combined, and I hoped that would be it.
Nope.
Car started overheating just 10 minutes into the drive home, and I had to turn the AC off just to get through the drive. Coolant tank is still bubbling, the engine smells burnt, and I am exhausted and wanting to scream. My car is my lifeline, I can't be without it and I can't afford a new one right now. I just need to get my car to someone more reliable, and hopefully things can actually get fixed. It may be more than what I'm asking for, but I just need a smidgen of help. Anything will help, I'm just so tired and so stressed and my body cannot handle another panic attack tbh.
