youtube recommended me a video titled "Remember Tru Calling?" and boy do I ever!! and I watched it and so obviously now I'm gonna rewatch the whole show.
I'm dying to see how it stood the test of time, and I can't wait to get super mad over its cancellation, which I'm 100% sure is still the worst way a show has been cancelled. even worse than Time After Time.

There's a Buffy the Vampire Slayer AU novel series, where Giles gets turned into a vampire and imprisons Buffy because he, of course, realizes that's the best way to deal with the Slayer: if you kill her, another one will be Called and then you'll have to find and deal with this new Slayer. But if you keep the Slayer imprisoned, she's no threat and the White Hats have no ace up their sleeves.
And in Tru Calling (that stars Eliza Dushku, that many Buffy fans like to headcanon as a life Faith is eventually reincarnated into), Jack tries to imprison Tru (and almost succeeds), so she'll rot in jail and the Calling (her power) won't pass to someone else until she dies of old age there (because before, they'd made the mistake of killing Tru's mom--who had had the Calling before her--and the power just passed onto Tru).

i wish Tru Calling had lasted for 4+ seasons. i wish Tru and Luc ended S1 as a couple and never stopped. i wish the Jack arc was intense but like he never truly threatened the Tru x Luc bond. gahhhhh.

this is an insane question to ask lmao but are there any riders you’ve noticed through the years who are like…nice to the umbrella girls hahaha. I’m generally not tooooo bothered abt them, like yeah I think it’s sexist, but I can also imagine that if I’d been into motogp at 19 I probably would’ve tried to be one 💀 but like sometimes I feel bad the riders just straight up ignore them :( is there anyone who talks to there umbrella girls? I’ve noticed Cal Crutchlow (random ik but I’m rewatching 2015 lmfao) doesn’t rly spray them with champagne which seemed polite of him lmao. And I saw a comment somewhere that Casey had his wife be his umbrella girl which is cute if tru <3 Ik Vale’s gf / mother of his kids was also an umbrella girl so like…obv he had to be talking to them sometimes hahaha. SORRY this question is so random but actually no one’s rly weighed in on this on Reddit or anything so im curious
nothing insane about this question but, and I'm aware this gets me a D for feminism, this is quite honestly an aspect of the sport that makes me actively uncomfortable enough that I just try not to pay attention to it. I get that if you have them around, you're right in that it is probably nicer to interact with them but also like... idk, I'd probably be minded to ignore them too on the grid before competing, and I just can't really give any points for men spraying these women with champagne on podiums. there's definitely quite a few blokes who do it, which I notice insofar as I usually just look away. the one vaguely positive example I can come up with is indy 2008, where a very cold and very wet valentino has to shed his jacket before headed on the podium (which quite honestly I would simply not do) and gives it to one of the women. she takes it off again at some point (I would also not do this) and then I am once again reminded of how weird it is that these women are half naked in the cold and the wet
with casey, yeah, his wife did do that, though this is also another thing that I have very 'eh' feelings about. they met when both of them were still young but she was very young, and she's following him around the world at an age where she just should not have been doing that. I'm not calling casey a bad person over it etc etc etc, I think this is a case where you needed some actual adults to step in and tell them that this just was not going to fly. preferably her parents. this isn't a knock on anyone who feels differently, it really isn't... but I just struggle to enjoy watching this girl constantly hold umbrellas for some bloke, rather than doing literally anything else with her time
again, this is absolutely nothing against the ask, it is interesting and I get the impulse! I'm just the worst person possible to get an answer from because I actively attempt to turn off my brain whenever I am perceiving a grid girl. which, again, I am also extremely aware isn't a particularly great approach. just ignoring the few women who are present on my screen for the sake of my own comfort is far from ideal. but that's where I'm at

Part 2 of my NNT rewatch !! ep 7-12
In the midst of 1000 training videos for my job, I am rewarding myself with episodes, let's fucking goooo
My thots under the cut :)
I totally forgot abt Ban's angst ridden guilt arc. "Real, genuine sins can never be atoned for..."😒😔 whatever you say beautiful
Literally one of the coolest shots in the whole show
Tumblr media
Also I want you all to know I am a little dumb and do not screenshot any of these pics... I take pictures with my phone from my laptop of TV and crop them🤡
Anyway i love Guila so fucking much what a little psycho
Ban's literal special ability just being stealing is really funny actually
Ban/Elaine/King arc ouchie
Elizabeth constantly talks about becoming useful and yet it still takes her 3 seasons to develop abilities and become useful in battle 😃 its good, kween, u were just subject to unfortunate writing choices😔
Fr tho chapter 0!Elizabeth would never
King straight up stabbing through Ban to get to Guila is so fucjing funny actually
Like hello 😭😭??
Tumblr media
"What is that on you face? It's... not half bad actually🤔" HELBRAM AJSKKALFLD
Tumblr media
Also the one time the perv joke was actually funny is this specific screen cap in which Meliodas describes his bond with Elizabeth, his lover he has died for and becomes the demon for as a "grope and get grope kind [of relationship]" while opening his shirt and placing Elizabeth's hand on his chest. Like yes king, have ur immortal lover touch ur bewbs
Tumblr media
I'm in love with Howzer, he's so girlfail
King and Ban snuggling against King's will is so yes
If demon blood can turn holy knights into the new generation, does that mean that Meliodas's blood could do that?
Vaizel fight fest one of my all time favorite arcs it's just so comfy🥰🥰
EUEHEHEHEHE wtf is that laugh😭😭
Diane as Matrona is so badass I love her !! Seeing her demolish dozens of men she's literally so babygirl
Tumblr media
"Hey where'd you get that jacket?" AKDLSLLF
*howzer putting dots together* " Nahh, you two guys got totally different names😝 my mistake🤣" God he's stupid I love him
"It looks like we fooled him" " because he's dumb"
Griamore is supposedly 7 ft tall and 400lbs. Ban is 6'11 and 170 lbs... make it make sense
Even meliodas doesn't weigh enough lol
Diane is h*rny. Good for her.
Tumblr media
King vs Cain top 10 nnt fights for sure. The only one that could beat it would be king vs the cat in which king loses
I love Ban's facial hair growing, it's such a small detail that I enjoy. Like so tru, he HAS been locked up with no way to shave for years. He WOULD look crazy
Meliodas calling him Undead Ban😭😭😭
I love the gymnast!Meliodas posts bc they are so canon. What a flexible little guy
Meliodas activating his demon mark literally just to beat his best friend is actually so real
My most controversial seven deadly sins opinion? I like diane x howzer more than I like kiane🫣
I feel like they cursed a lot more in the first season, more like they do in the manga
Meliodas going as demon as he can with sealed powers will always be one of my all time fave scenes he's so fucking cool I love demon characters
Tumblr media
They really needed to do more with spell beads bc like where did those go?? What are they??
And that's the end of episode 12 !! See yall next time for 13-18 !

How freaking weird is this? This episode made me want to rewatch Tru Calling, which has a similar premise where Eliza Dushku is trying to stop the day from going wrong again. I just went to see if I can find it to watch anywhere and re-discovered something about I’d completely forgotten … Jason Priestley is also in it!! XD
s02e06 - Audrey Parker's Day Off
In which Audrey gets stuck in a terrifying time loop, the aftermath of which leaves her exhausted and everyone else confused.

So, I was tagged in a "Top 10 Favorite TV shows" post a little while back, and I've sadly lost it (even though I really wanted to do it!):( And thank you to who tagged me in the post. I think it was @i-love-books-because-reasons? If I ever find the post again, I'll reblog it properly. But for now, I'll just answer it this way. (For some reason, I've decided not to included animes or cartoons, because no one did in their lists. Maybe that will be its own list. Or "younger shows," like Disney channel ones. But if I did, Lizzie McGuire would have made it:))
Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Series (though I'll be listing them separately) - have become my favorite shows of all-time (though they're also slightly tied with Dark Angel). They're just... so good and perfect, with such good writing and themes, and I could analyze and obsess over them for hours (and have), so of course they're here.
2. Angel the Series (mentioned above). - Though it and Buffy aren't exactly like. They're definitely their own shows and I love them both for different reasons.
3. Dark Angel season 1 - I just really latched onto Dark Angel, and have never been able to let it go... which is funny, because I didn't like it that much in the first few episodes: probably because they really went over my head as a kid. -shrugs- But I love my reluctant, badass heroine Max and how she grows. Speaking of Max? Love of my life. The love story between her and Logan is still one of the best written in all of TV to me. And the relationship between Max and her "siblings"--and just learning about this poor girl created in a lab, who had never even been in a house before when she was nine and things like that--has always spoken to me. The "fight the man" and "protect the downtrodden" plot is also great.
4. Tru Calling - It's thanks to my sister that I discovered this awesome show, and Eliza Dushku. The premise is just so wonderful: Tru having the ability to relive days and save people who died before their time. And whenever the show threw a wrench into the usual formula was fun. Particularly when Jack showed up, who was the opposite of Tru: trying to stop her actions, because he thought she was messing with the natural order of things and there would be disastrous consequences to it. The show was really finding its footing when it was canceled. And what the writers released of their plans for what they were going to do next? I cry that we didn't get to see that. But alas.
Smallville - Baby's first show for teens and up:) I have so many fond memories of discovering Smallville... and rewatching the episodes again and again with friends, and between new seasons. Also, watching new episodes when they aired. I feel like the idea of Smallville was great: tell the story of Superboy growing up on a TV show. It worked so well: and made so many people connect with Clark Kent/Superman, who otherwise might have trouble with it. It developed him and his relationships so well... and we won't talk about how well Lex Luthor was also developed (and played by Michael Rosenbaum): the best part of the show to many people. And how genius it was to have them start out the show as friends only to become the enemies they were fated to be. -sobs- Also, as it's been said, we wouldn't have the Arrowverse if Smallville hadn't come first. So credit where credit is due. And speaking of that, this was the time before the MCU and that sort of thing. So seeing hero cameos on this show was so shocking, new, and the best.
Alias - The first badass female heroine I ever saw on live-action TV--and fell in love with--was Sydney Bristow (aside from Xena: Warrior Princess, that I don't remember that well, because I was, like, five when I was watching Xena). Also my introduction to the wacky world of J.J. Abrams' writing. And as wacky as J.J. Abrams can get, and we all know it, I think he did a good job with Alias, and was pretty nuanced and tame here. There was just enough of his Mystery Box stuff to keep me intrigued, in this interesting spy story that I loved. And Sydney Bristow is seriously the greatest, and deserves the world. And Alias actually has one of the few TV endings that I actually like, for the most part.
Kyle XY - Another show similar to Dark Angel, in that it's about a human made in a lab (though that's a mystery for most of S1). And I really liked this show--and its main family the Tragers. Definitely one of the best things ABC Family ever did... and I'll forever be angry that it ended on a cliffhanger.
Roswell - A TV show about what if aliens did crash in Roswell, and lived among us as half-aliens, half-humans. This show is definitely largely a romance, but there's definitely more to it than just that: with some battles with other aliens, the aliens trying to get home, and stay alive from the government trying to kill them, etc. Maily it's the characters and their various relationships that make this show so great. It's certainly a product of its time, early 90's WB, but I'm nostalgic for it and love it too much. And we wouldn't have a number of shows we do today without it. Liz and Maria also have one of the best female friendships of all time. And this show is another one where I actually like the ending.
The Chosen - A TV show that tells what Jesus' ministry was like through the disciples' PoV. And I can't explain just how well made this show is. Seriously. People who aren't even religious watch it and love it. People have compared its quality to Game of Thrones... err, in a good way (I know that can be considered an insult now, after S8). This is what all Christian media should always attempt to be.
Bonus:
Dollhouse - The idea of this show is really neat (with people who have their memories and personalities wiped, and someone else's placed into them, when they're "bought" to live out someone's fantasy), but also hella problematic... though, granted, it's sort of problematic on purpose to draw attention to these problems in real life, but still. This show also becomes completely different by the end, than how it started out (I actually love this plot twist, and won't spoil it for those who don't know). But sadly, it didn't have too much to delve into this twist before it was canceled. But I do still love this show for what it did, and all the potential it had.
Game of Thrones - I loved this show so much, originally. As most people did. But then it really started going downhill when it ran out of books to adapt. Even before that, though, you could kind of see the cracks, with how they changed Daenerys so much... Or how they changed Robb Stark's marriage plot line from being about honor (like how Ned died) to love, etc. But even so, we still (mostly) have a few really good seasons, at least.
#long post#tv shows#shanna's tv shows#there are probably some other ones i could have mentioned like once upon a time or supernatural... but i really started disliking them and#stopped watching and moreso like them at the start or in a 'i can fix them' kind of way. so that's why they don't make my top 10 i guess#i do like gossip girl... but that show also starts annoying me (and technically i haven't finished it yet) so it would probably be unfair t#list it. and i don't think i like it more than other ones on this list actually. i do like it though#i also didn't get into buffy and angel much here (maybe i should have) because i never shut up about them on my blog#so i feel like people already know about them because of that who know me. but maybe i should have. oh well#also... you gotta love how four of my favorite shows have eliza dushku in them. but i'm so not complaining. lol#oh! nbc's chuck was supposed to be on this list as a bonus but i accidentally deleted it. oops#once upon a time in wonderland and boy meets world would also be good bonuses#syfy alice (2009) would potentially be on here if i didn't see it more of a movie and if it wasn't SUCH a short mini-series. but it is grea#lost is another show with supernatural and ouat with me that i really liked at first but oh did it do things#for me i think the good still outweighs the bad with the characters and their development despite the bad ending and so many plot threads#being meaningless but i also completely understand when others feel the opposite way

LOL. randomly watching Tru Calling and the bad blind date in 1x05 Haunted looked so familiar. he's the ambiguous flight attendant in Snakes on a Plane! (Bruce James, had to look up his name.) in TC he had a very Aaron - Torrance in Bring It On's boyfriend vibe to him.

I am well into a Buffy rewatch and am quite enjoying it. It's a show that means a lot to me for lots of reasons, as it does to many people my age I think. It's also a fun show to share with others and this rewatch was sparked by @kat-eleven finally deciding to watch Buffy. In the past she was worried it was "too focused on women" and she said she wished there were more shows about men and what men want. I assured her there were at least some scenes where women talk about men, which got her to give it a chance but she still wasn't entirely on board with the idea of a woman with power and agency. I am pleased to announce she mostly has come around though and torn through the first 2 seasons and we are well into season 3, when Faith shows up. Who I predicted @kat-eleven would like a lot because she loves the number 25 and Faith is always "five by five" this and "five by five" that. So far I have been wrong as @kat has not posted her on her other blog @girlcrushart. I happen to find Eliza Dushku attractive but this all makes me feel very old because in my mind, there was a stretch when Eliza Dushku was an inescapable star. Maybe not an A lister but that type of star who is much buzzed about and seems to be everywhere. Yes, she was Faith on Buffy, which got people talking about her but I looked it up and from 2000 to 2003 I saw every movie she made somehow. I didn't seek them out because I was looking for Eliza Dushku movies, it's just that she was in that many very successful movies. Bring it On (unappreciated classic), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (Kevin Smith was once a film maker of some renown, not a podcaster), The New Guy (not very good but somehow very much the embodiment of the revival of sex comedies of the era), Soul Survivors and Wrong Turn (ok, one isn't big but one was a GIANT horror movie). Anyway, she was sort of inescapable and it was big news when she did Tru Calling because there was so much buzz about what would she do after Buffy because she was such a big deal, or a potentially big deal that whatever was able to land her was sure to have a huge hit on it's hand. None of that really happened. I sure did like Dollhouse later one but you now, she had her brief moment in the sun and now people don't know who she is if they haven't seen Buffy. Which is kind of wild. Luckily I am here to spread awareness that Eliza Dushku was and is smoking hot. Also pretty charming on screen. Today I want to fuck Eliza Dushku.

A New Definition Of Love - Daichi Sawamura x Reader
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER: I do not own any of these characters, they belong to Haruichi Furudate
Haikyuu! Masterlist - Main Masterlist
WARNINGS: Very minor curse word
A/N: WOWIE it’s been a while since the last time I wrote for Haikyuu! But, I’ve been rewatching it recently, and wow has it reestablished my big fat crush on Daichi oml. Anyways, this is a bit different since it involves the reader being a tennis player! Some basic tennis stuff that you might need to know in order to fully understand this fic if you don’t play tennis: You play 2 out of 3 sets, each set where you have to win 6 games (win by 2). If you tie a set at 6-6, then you play a tiebreaker where you have to win seven points (again, win by 2). Right side of the court is called the deuce side, left side of the court is called the ad side. I hope I did a well enough job to kinda explain it in the fic, but if you still have questions, lemme know! And, finally, ENJOY!!!!
Word Count: 1.4K
You felt like you couldn’t breathe. All eyes were on you as you spun your racket in your hands, your gaze focused on the small, optic yellow ball that the girl across from you bounced up and down, up and down as she prepared for her serve. Why did all of this, the championship, have to come down to just your singles match? And a third set tiebreak, at that. The pressure you’re feeling is insane and it takes all of your energy to even hold the tennis racket in your hand.
“7-6, Sato. Match Point.” There were muffled cheers of support from you - from your teammates, your coaches, and your friends - most notably of which was your closest friend, and longtime crush, Daichi Sawamura. You could pick his voice out of a crowd anytime he was near - that soft, warm cadence of his was so reassuring and supportive. Normally it was music to your ears whenever he engaged in conversation with you. Right now, at this moment though… It was just another added pressure. He was always so, so proud of his ‘insanely talented and awesome best friend’ - his words, not yours - and you knew that in no way would he be disappointed with the outcome of your match. But when your eyes flickered and saw the hopeful expressions from your teammates and their hands clasped with one another’s, you made yourself look back to your opponent. Focus Y/N, c’mon! You’re more than the number one player, you’re their damn captain! Pull it together, you’ve got this. Your opponent tossed the ball up into the air and swung, sending the ball careening down the middle T. You lunged, racket, arm, and body outstretched to receive the tennis ball, effectively defending the serve and getting it back to the other side of the court. A serious rally ensued with the both of you putting an insane amount of energy and technique into the point - your opponent trying her best to finish the point and ensure her victory, and you, defending every point to try and even it back up. Sato swung and slightly miss hit the ball, giving you the perfect opportunity to attack the ball. So, you attacked. With a lot of topspin and power put behind the ball, it flew perfectly down the line. It was a perfect, and beautiful shot - but your opponent got a racket on it. The ball barely took flight, knocking against the net before tumbling onto your side of the court. You ran so hard and so fast that by trying to reach the ball you ended up skidding and tripping on the court, leaving you to tumble onto the Har-Tru - too late to scoop up the ball to keep the rally going.
“Game, set, match. Sato.” Cheering and screaming and shrieking came from the other school’s audience as they came rushing onto the court, hugging and praising your opponent. Eventually, and painfully, you were able to stand up and shake your opponent's hand.
You tried to make yourself feel nothing, no negative emotions from your match and instead put on a smiling face as you turned to your team. Because, yes, you lost. But so did they.
“Sorry guys, that shot was too good for me to get.” You say, rubbing the back of your head and plastering an embarrassed grin on your face. You were met with cries from your team as they reassured you that you did nothing wrong as well as grieving the loss of their season. That was when your coach turned to you.
“L/N, you played great tennis out there. That whole match was so close that it came down to lucky shots, like the one she just hit. Don’t be hard on yourself, okay?” You gave him a nod and another smile, but this one was more wobbly than the previous ones. Your coach noted that, and gave you a sad yet understanding expression. “Why don’t you take a few minutes in the locker room to yourself, and then we’ll regroup. We have to get on the bus in about an hour.” You didn’t need to be told another word as you rushed from the court, racket still in hand, to the locker room. And, once the door was closed, you allowed yourself to let everything go. Tears racked your body as you held yourself and your racket close, breathing raggedly in between sobs. You don’t know how long you had been crying before you felt strong hands shake your shoulders softly. You let your eyes open to try and spot the person. The tears still welled in your eyes made them a bit blurry and waterlogged, but you couldn’t mistake that figure for anywhere else.
“Oh Y/N…” Daichi said, his voice so soft and pitiful that it made you burst out in tears again as you reached out to him and let yourself cling to his body. His arms circled your waist and used one of his hands to nestle your head into the crook between his neck and shoulder. “You were so wonderful out there, truly. You played fearlessly and beautifully, and you were so gritty-”
“I let everyone down.” Your voice was quiet and low, but it was enough to interrupt Daichi. His embrace of you tightened as his tone lowered just a tad.
“You did not. Did you play your best?” He felt you nodding. “Then you didn’t let them down. Did you let them cry as you became their shoulder, their rock?” Another nod and a sniffle. “ Then there is absolutely no way you can tell yourself that you let them down.” Daichi pulled back a bit so he could look you in the eye. Warm, chocolate brown eyes met yours as a soft smile spread across his face. “You are incredible, do you know that? I could have never done what you did and continue to do. The way you’re able to play out there, when it's just you. You’re so strong, brilliant, beautiful-”
“Daichi,” you say, sniffling and giggling a little at the same time.
“I don’t know why you're giggling, although I always love to hear that sound. Because everything I just said is true, and I love you for it.” You shook your head and were about to respond before you let his words finally sink in. Eyes as wide as an owl’s and body as frozen as ice, you look at him.
“...Love?” You ask, stunned. Daichi seems to be confident though.
“Look, I know that love technically means ‘zero’ or ‘nothing’ in tennis, but-” You pressed your lips to his. Daichi’s lips are soft, warm, and inviting. Yours were definitely dry and chapped and tasted probably like salt due to your tears, but if Daichi cared he definitely didn’t seem to show it as he smiled into the kiss and caressed your cheek softly with his thumb. You would’ve continued for longer, god, you would’ve continued for forever, but the harsh knocking and concerned words from your coach were enough for you and Daichi to reluctantly put a pause to your previous actions.
“I’ll be out in a sec, promise! Just, uh…” Your eyes met the devilishly handsome and cocky expression from the boy in front of you as you tried to come up with an excuse. Oh, two can play that game. “Just rethinking my singles career! Playing doubles is definitely looking pretty appealing to me right now.” You say, finishing your sentence with a cheeky smile to Daichi.
“Oh, uh, okay! We’re just getting lunch, so, whenever you’re ready!” Your coach shouts as Daichi sports a tomato-red blush.
“‘Kay!” You say, listening to the disappearing footsteps. It’s quiet for a moment before the brown-haired volleyball captain speaks up.
“So, doubles, huh? What does that entail?”
“Oh, I dunno.” You say, fake pondering. “I guess I can come to your volleyball games once in a while.” Daichi makes a face.
“You always come to my games, why will it be different now?”
“Well maybe this time I’ll wear the captain’s jersey and paint his number on my cheek - some cheesy stuff like that. And perhaps, if you’re good, then I’ll hold your hand. Occasionally.” Daichi laughs loudly and smothers your cheeks, forehead, everywhere, with light, little kisses, making you giggle more.
“I guess I can make that work. On only one condition though.” You lifted an eyebrow in curiosity.
“And what would that be?” A cocky, but dopey, smile spreads across his face.
“I get to be that doubles partner.” You barked out a bit of laughter before pressing a sweet kiss to his lips.
“Obviously.”
