I'm very excited to show you this year's @tolkienrsb art I made! It's called Stains in the Snow and it's set during the journey through Helcaraxë, showing Glorfindel at the front and Galdor and Salgant behind him. I'm not gonna give out clues what the art is about, if you are interested you are gonna have to read the story written by lovely @jhelenivarsimae, that I will link when it is gonna be available on ao3 on September 6! I will update this post with the link for it, I'm so hyped to read it myself!! I added two versions of this art, originally I was planning to just put the gif here but the quality is not the best, so I also added a still frame.

Here comes my @tolkienrsb 2024 art! (Acrylic, 40x80cm) I've also been fascinated by the time period in the Years of the Trees before the conflicts within the Noldor truly boil over, but when they are just starting to arise. The "Finwëan family picnic" painting has in some form or another been going back and forth from WIP/abandoned WIP since 2021, so I am also happy to finally have done the idea justice :D

The fic for this piece has been written by @skaelds, who managed to beautifully bring the painting alive in her words and expand on the little moments we see, tying the little scenes together in the evening that the family shares at their yearly picnic. As the Finwëans try to cherish the yearly meeting, the many little tensions and cracks in the peace beautifully explore this strange moment in Aman. Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang collab with @urwendii

I headcanon that the lords of Gondolin who were Aredhel's guards (Ecthelion, Glorfindel, Egalmoth) were those who killed Eol in the end. I think it's interesting to explore how this event can be considered as kinslaying and how those who were/weren't involved in the First Kinslaying lived it. Especially Glorfindel who did not take part in the kinslaying and felt much guilt about Aredhel's fate.

Reading Under the Flowers - Glorfindel and Erestor reading a book together (TRSB #121)

My first big embroidery project since getting Covid! And my first with a frame rather than a hoop! The piece is 8 1/2 inches by 11 inches and stitched with cotton DMC floss, single thread, on Kona cotton. I drew the picture, developed the shading and selected colors! Most of the piece was done with short and long stitch, but some of the outlines were done with stem stitch and the purple flowers are chain stitch!

I will have more and larger pictures HERE when the Tolkien Summer Reverse Bang collection opens on Sept. 6!

Do You Not Speak Westron?

Thorin Okenshield & Elvenking Thranduil (Tolkien)

My second TRSB piece of 2024! (@tolkienrsb) ✨ Slide #15

The premise: Thorin survives after the battle of the five armies and as he stumbles through the forest trying to find his people he encounters a wounded elf. Thorin has never seen the face of the Elvenking and does not recognize Thranduil, who in turn is severely concussed and has lost his grasp on westron for the moment.

Last year I also did a banged up Thranduil in a situation where communication was impaired. Oops. I have a thing that I quite like apparently hehe.

I REALLY enjoyed working on this piece, TRSB always makes me want to give the best that I have for the art 😭 For this particular art I was heavily inspired by Arthur Rackham (and I continue to try and pull off a story book kind of art just like last year hehe).

SOON, get ready for the ever flourishing @i-did-not-mean-to . Very exited to read the love letter she has written for me in the form of a story for this art🥹

I'm very happy to show you the 2nd art I made for @tolkienrsb! This one is called Descent. Gimli is showing Legolas the Glittering Caves of Aglarond for the first time. Trying to incomporate all of the colors in this piece was a challenge. Thank you @coveredinsun for keeping me inspired this whole time!! I already know her fic is gonnabe amazing, and you'll be able to read it here on 6th of September when the collection becomes open for everyone!

Finwë and Indis are dead; Fëanáro, young and only just recently flown the near, must return while mired in grief to rule a people and to care for four younger siblings.

Later, the will deal with revenge, but for now he must focus on each day as they come.

Oh boy this has been a long journey, and I'm so excited I finnaly get to share this! This is the first of two artworks I've made for @tolkienrsb 2024, my first ever exchange event!

There is going to be a story to go along with the art, writen by the lovely @i-did-not-mean-to and posted on Ao3. The story collection opens up on September 6th, so I will be rebloging this then with the links.

This is probably the most rare-pair ship I have ever had, Galion/Glorfindel. So if that seems interesting to you, stay tuned for when the fics drop! And if not you should still stay tuned, becasue there is so much more amazing art being posted right now, with acompanying fics soon to follow. You're sure to find something to your taste!
