thinking about teen regressor Ford (~16-18 age range)

I feel like usually he'd be like his typical major league nerdy self, just a little more anxious and soft spoken, like how he seemed to be as an actual teen.

Two of his biggest tells are being quite a bit less boisterous than he is when big, and sticking to Stan like the two got super glue stuck to them.

I imagine he'd opt to do that or just read alone somewhere. He wouldn't like being around that many people when regressed other than Stan, Dipper, and Mabel. Even then he's worried about being around the kids because, being an anxious teen, he's worried he'll mess something up and they'll think he's lame or something (which could never happen but that doesn't stop his brain from being a butt).

He doesn't really need to be looked after since he's capable of doing that himself when regressed, but that doesn't stop Stan from coddling his brother despite this. He'll make tons of jokes about having a "little brother," poke fun at him and ruffle his hair and stuff. Half the time, before either of them even realize it, Stan's probably regressed too, and they get up to some 16-18 year old boy shenanigans (probably pulling pranks on each other and vandalizing abandoned buildings and stuff. Stan tends to be the instigator of both of these but Ford has fun with it too).

And that's how he'd usually be. However, I'd also like to imagine he's sometimes an edgy teen regressor, too >:] (headcanons for that under the cut)

He'd learn what being emo is from like Mabel or Wendy and subconsciously act like that when regressed at times. He didn't really realize he did it at first, but when he does he just kinda rolls with it.

It doesn't happen often, but sometimes he just feels the need to be angsty and upset, so he expresses that by being an emo teen.

Y'know the black turtleneck he has when he first comes through the portal? He just HAS to wear it when regressed and edgy, without fail, it's like the only tell anyone gets to know for sure that he's an angsty teen for the time being.

He also has a pair of jeans that had gotten ripped from previous explorations/hikes/creature hunts/etc. that he wears because it just feels Right. He'll wear those when not regressed too, though, so it's hard to tell if he's regressed from the pants alone.

If Stan's regressed with him then edgy Ford is much more likely to join in on being troublesome and a menace.

Mabel makes a playlist of like emo, alt, indie songs with him that he listens to. Maybe she's just starting to enter her own edgy teen phase, and they're just kinda angsty together. They make kandi and stuff together and have a fun time jamming out to MCR and Set It Off and it's just a fun time for both of them.

Ford usually uses these edgy regressor moments to be angry though, so he likes to be alone more often than not. He'll listen to angry music and scream into his pillow and kick his bed and just generally be upset about various parts of his past. Sometimes he'll accidentally ram his hand against the wall or break something sharp, and that's usually a sign to himself to start calming down. Stan tends to give him space, but at times like these he's sure to check in on him to make sure he hasn't hurt himself. If he has, he'll help bandage him up or clean off his hand or whatever he needs, and comfort him as best he can. Sometimes Ford and Stan will just hug and let each other cry for a while.

They're always there for each other, regressed or not. :]

Animators were actually insane for this one. This screenshot had me thinking that I never realized Violet was 6 foot something and absolutely HULKING over Herman.

There was so much potential here and they made him the SHORTEST? Where's the tall emo alt rock art fart whatever he is representation? Cowards, I say. Absolute COWARDS.

Imagine an unsuspecting student meeting him for the first time and violet gets called so he gets up and that poor weston first year student that's already SO nervous about joining the school is caught so off guard that his prefect two heads taller then him and looks like he wants to eat him. Scares him silly (cause he isn't exactly approachable upon first meeting) and violet feels so bad.

Imagine in a modern au him trying to hide behind the other prefects cause he's bad at confrontation when he accidentally broke a vase in front of a store clerk. His head would be fully visible while the others try to explain/flirt their way out/yell to be heard in his defense.

Imagine his uniform pants ending right above his ankles cause it doesn't fit right anymore after his massive growth spurt he got during school, but he just deals with it cause it's too troublesome to ask for another one. The only reason his blazer feels fine is cause he ripped the old one at the stitch when he was getting ready, so it HAD to be replaced.

Imagine Herman waking up one day to find his friend looking down at HIM instead of the other way around. Imagine him leaning on one of his prefects too fast like usual but he's heavier then he looks now cause of the added height and they FALL cause they're still getting used to how big he is. Big boy.

Anyway, make him tall. Vote for tall Gregory privileges. Give him the height he needs and deserves. And no I'm not biased to tall pop punk metal artists what are you talking about.

I've seen some ppl talk about heathers x Class of 09, but my hot take is Nicole isn't Veronica, but JD. Perhaps Jecka is closer to being Veronica, as she's gone to this school since primary and used to be best friends with Karen, who is also similar to Martha. (Also the lyric "you'll go to some colleague and marry a lawyer" fits her really well)

It's just JD and Nicole, the new kinda emo and sarcastic kid at school who seems to hate everyone, is sort of apathetic to everything and has a troublesome house life... also one of their parental figures is implied to have killed themselves, and the other is just. Terrible. Is also constantly moving from state to state. Also also ends up being to blame for the death of a bunch of... morally questionable people.

The only issue is that it doesn't leave much room for heathers,,, who are quite important for the musical heathers. So, Kelly, Emily, Ari, and Megan. Tbh, I have no clue who to assign who. Ari and Megan specially aren't really close to being stereotypical popular girls.

Ram and Kurt are a bit easier. Literally any of the boys that isn't jeffrey and Kylar. (truly the "very straight non-rapist" duo)

Jeffrey is just the random guy who wants to watch the heathers be eaten by rats.

Ms Ames would fulfill the role of Miss Fleming pretty well too.

*immediately pounces on you to talk about CoraLaw bc no one else does anymore (at least, not on Tumblr and not English speakers)* I wanna know so bad how adult Law and Cora would interact bc that'd seem so interesting. Especially on a Cora Lives AU. Imagine coming back to life to find out the boy you saved turned out to be a pirate and a(n) (ex)warlord but also a doctor slash (advanced, bc of his devil-fruit lmao) surgeon. It was probably what most would expect what Law would occupy when he was given the devil-fruit (minus the whole pirate and warlord thing I guess) but at that time all Cora expected and hoped what law would be was free. And thinking of that, Cora would realise just how much Law had grown and how he's far from the kid he was then and how little he knows about the man (not that he knew much about Law even when he was a kid anyway, both their pasts were a touchy subject for them but they did get to know each other a little bit and got close, and at that time that was enough for both of them. They didn't need to know about each other's past or something to love and care for each other. I'm not saying your past defines you but sometimes it kinda does. Not fully, no, but it does help shape you into what you are now). And Cora realises that he missed out on so many things. They both wanted to live together, fully and freely. But Law spent 13(?? Or so) years without him but also, Law hadn't been exactly free, not when Doflamingo was alive and Cora-san's death was a wound that will never be healed. Yk what I'm spitting nonsense at this point and I'm probably projecting but yuh... I just badly wanna know how adult Law and Cora would interact when Cora steps into the light again (AKA brought back to life lmao).

Argh I wanna talk about them but I don't know what to say!!!! These idiots make me cry and sob and scream and smile and laugh and I cannot get them out of my head.

But oh! Regarding of their relationship dynamics, I do love the idea of Law being so openly devoted to Cora (and also possessive and obsessed but the latter is almost a fact that he doesn't even need to so anything or say anything for anybody to notice. I mean, look at this guy. He has tattoos dedicated to his lover. The Jolly Roger on his ship is dedicated to his lover. One of his techniques is dedicated to his lover. He steals hearts because his lover's name is Corazon which means heart in Spanish. Yes the last is a HC of mine but idc he'll still be obsessed even when my HC is removed lol). Idk if Cora would leave a kiss mark on anywhere on his skin he'd leave it there until it gets accidentally (and only accidentally, if anybody tries to wipe it off he'd replace their heads with a mop) wiped off. Cora would also be open about their relationship and would proudly gush about his lover who grins when he's kissed on the nose and could cuddle whenever Cora wants to (then he'd introduce said lover to the people and they're a bit shocked to see a 6 foot tall emo looking mf—). They'd fr be the Mom and Dad of the Heart Pirates. But that doesn't make them any less troublesome lmao.

...I had another thought pop up in my head and I— sigh... thinking about Strawhats meeting Cora and him and Sanji bonding over make-up (implied Zosan. Yes I did just imply Zosan without saying anything that could imply Zosan. I'm brilliant. Also implied Genderfluid Sanji. I love my HCs). And also— what. What does that have to do with– sorry, I was talking to my brain bc it suddenly brought Cross Guild Polycule (+ Shanks) in too. I remembered a fanart where Crocodile, Buggy and Cora were talking about jewellery and make-up while their significant others (Mihawk, Shanks and Law) are staring intensely at them xD not sure if that was a ship fanart tho! Also, I made it into Cross Guild (+ Shanks) polycule bc I can *blinks cutely*. So yeah. Just Bottoms bonding over treasure, jewellery, cosmetics and maybe their lovers (Pls we don't get enough Bottom Cora fics I am begging on my knees for them—).

My brain caught on one of the points you made about adult Law and Cora—like, how surprised Cora would be at Law being a pirate. Maybe, after only really having Doflamingo as an idea of what pirates are like, Cora is a little... not disappointed, but like, worried when he finds out. Part of that worry goes away when he sees that Law isn't cruel. But he does slowly understand that, like you said, Law wasn't totally free after living with all that anger and guilt. I think I saw a post a while ago that talked about how Law never claims that he wants to be the King of the Pirates or anything—his "dream" was really just to avenge Cora, and might not have expected he'd survive after that. SOOOOOOO. I think once Cora totally catches up on who Law is as an adult (and realizes he still loves him :3c), he forces Law to sit down and have a conversation about what his new dream should be—it isn't about what he'd die for anymore, but what does he want to live for? Then, I guess the headcanons could be anything... maybe they decide they want to focus on bringing medical help to people who need it, and Law becomes some kind of renegade pirate doctor who goes into places the world government has quarantined... i don't know!! the world is their oyster!!

Ah... the two of them being lovey-dovey around the Heart Pirates........;w; I do also like the idea of them being a little secretive about it, at least maybe at first—like, Law is such a private person, and he doesn't want to "share" Cora after just getting him back... even if it's his own crew just seeing Cora blush or something, haha. And I love cute, open-with-his-feelings Cora, but also liked that rough side of him that would curse out useless doctors and stand up to Doflamingo—I could see him actually being more flustered than Law telling others about their relationship... Like, Cora is talking to Sengoku over transponder snail, and saying stuff like "yeah... I'm... kind of getting dinner with Law tonight. Yes, that Law—don't laugh, damn it, Dad!" and struggling to get his words out. Then Law comes up and takes the receiver from Cora to say, "Then we're gonna make out afterward. Have a nice evening," and hangs up.

my brain is unfortunately too obsessed full with ace/lu and lawcora to come up with anything fun for those other characters, but I'm sure someone out in the world could add on! I'd also love more fics for themmm. I know sometimes you have to "make your own food", but I'm still too deep in my Ace Era to do anything about it yet haha

Adrian Sparkstell

Adrian “Whiny-Rich-Boi-McGee” Sparkstell. Rich boy from Marleybone who inherits the family business, and then some, after his parents pass away at the end of the Empyrea story line. He holds a lot of power in the latter half of the canon story, but towards the beginning of THEM™️’s journey we see him be whiny, cocky, jealous, and a pain in Madeline’s side 98% of the time. He does have his moments of teamwork though, from the Malistaire fight to their adventures in Celestia and Avalon as well. Hell, it takes Lena hunting him down after Maddie is taken in Mirage for the gang to get back together and take down old cob with it. He uses his later gained influence to turn the tides in the favor of those pursuing the troublesome matters on the front line like Madeline and Lena, though he consistently worries about Lena’s safety. After all, they are together and he loves her dearly. Selfishly, he wants her home in Marleybone all the time, but he knows and grows to understand that her heart is in defending the universe. He lets her pursue what her heart wants, which is his ultimate lesson. The heart is stronger than any person’s will.

Ruko Yokane

Ruko “Im-Edgier-Than-An-Emo-Teenager” Yokane. He ends up becoming the next official death professor for Ravenwood, and he is DAMN good at the job. After all, he was Malistaire’s ace back when he was a baby wizard learning how the world worked. Death magic and death energy run in his bloodline, and like tataragami spirits and energy, the energy his bloodline experiences can create insanity within those who possess it. Luckily, Ruko is a baddie ofc and has over the years managed to maintain a healthy stable control over that energy within him. Of course, that did take snapping once or twice. However, he always had loved ones to anchor him back (no not in the “this isn’t like you ” way, in the genuine support system way). This dude gets his happy ending, he’s married to his love Madeline. They have a kid together which is just so sweet, and he gets the inside scope of the arcanum from Maddie.

Lena Raven

Lena “I love her sm she’s so sweet someone protect her-” Raven. She’s not the self-insert, she is my favorite and best crafted. She’s an adopted child of grandmother Raven, having been raised in Grizzleheim with no parents to her memory outside of the deity. She constantly strives for good, and that has led her to be the mediator of group disputes. She’s also the team’s biggest clutch, when the team needs a major push to victory, Lena is the reliable one to deliver it. She takes blows none can take, and now is a political mediator between worlds. She’s stopped wars with her mediation skills, but luck does eventually run out. However, she is the one seldom drawing a blade. Her risky work does create some slight tension in hers and Adrian’s relationship, but it’s nothing a genuine conversation cannot rectify. They both do what their heart calls them to do, and no matter how far the universe flings the two apart, they always manage to come back home to one another.

Madeline Lumos

Madeline “Baddest bitch in THEM™️” Lumos-Yokane Yes bitch she hyphenated, LAY RESPECT ON HER MAIDEN NAME. Balance in all things Madeline is the combat queen, the one who while yes is a good mediator and wishes to protect the universe is more akin to an heat-seeking missile rather than a soft-spoken negotiator. Madeline does not pull punches, and her judgement calls are the best in the spiral. She works in the Arcanum, and her work is renowned enough to where she eventually gets to run her own international court that tries individuals who attempt to defy the laws of the universe. She’s not the executioner, but she is the judge and the jury. This makes her the more extroverted of the two in her marriage between herself and Ruko. Ruko does his teaching job well, she does her job well too.

I do have many postable thoughts I just haven’t been posting them they’re private. well ok u can know about this one I have been thinking a lot about chainsaw man critically bc i like the set up of the universe and the way the powers work and the demon designs are a lot of fun. but (and this won’t be surprising coming from the ‘aki is the only character i’m invested in’ guy) I really can’t get over how much denji just should not have been the pov character

like he obviously was always going to be because this is fujimoto’s vent diary slash 15 year old boy horny nightmare fantasy manga but i love imagining an alternate universe where people learn to utilize effective writing and understand when a perspective should’ve been shifted

because the like emotional impact of the stuff going on with denji would’ve been much more effective if it had been like mostly implied/subtle to begin with and then slowly revealed through the eyes of aki, especially considering he’s implicitly (though it’s barely explored) been dealing with the same kind of abuse just less Directly from makima and himeno for years + aki’s emotional plot beats are the only ones that have any like actual punch to them at all. him being the resolution to denji’s emotional arc about whether or not he can still feel emotion by becoming the first person to ever truly care for denji for unselfish reasons etc etc.

aki also has the very classic anime protagonist trait of being like physically incapable of abandoning sympathy for other people no matter what terrible things he’s exposed to, plus the personal revenge arc, like he obviously has the emo boy death flags but he’s so weirdly positioned with classic Protag traits as well. it’s weird how completely rushed his storyline ends up being to serve like an edginess quota

i’m closing my eyes and imagining a version of this manga where you’re introduced to the world through aki in media res he’s been an investigator for a couple years now but not super long and he’s just being assigned this new troubled teen to join his already troublesome squad and like his dynamic/development with denji and power mostly plays out the same but there’s also much more emphasis on the local government politics inside the bureau of him trying to keep denji and power out of trouble while also trying to accomplish his own goals and like more time/story dedicated to the mystery solving of hunting down the gun devil and collecting the pieces rather than most of it taking place off screen/in the past for no reason because if we had spent more time WITH that process aki’s decision to try to back out of the final fight to save denji and power would’ve had so much more weight

anyways ultimately chainsaw man is just fujimoto’s attempt to exponentially raise the stakes in each arc as fast as humanly possible to speedrun the already oft mocked shounen manga format but he’s doing it in service to creating the next moment makima can do something #badass and #scary because despite despising her he also thinks she’s like the sickest character ever and has a weird amount of sympathy for her like he literally denji’d himself i mean no one is shocked because denji is very plainly his trauma dumping self insert i knew this going in you know this we all knew this but it’s insane that he has not reflected on the meanings of this at all and just wanted to draw panels of makima doing evil things and then spun together some bare bones papier-mâché plot to string those panels together

Thinking about Eclipse Rain's multiplicity because I get to project however I want onto him. His headmate Merula (Turdus) is a literal demon inhabiting his body after it was offered as a child in exchange for its parents' immortality, but unfortunately for them Merula wasn't very impressed and eternal LIFE doesn't necessarily have to mean being immune to murder... So she absolutely tore his parents asunder and Eclipse was later found curled up in a closet, the outside covered in gore and writing drawn in blood.

There was surprisingly nothing to indicate that Eclipse had murdered his parents or had left the strange markings, so authorities chalked it up to a murder by the local cult considering that Eclipse's parents were involved in it (even though nothing about the crime was relevant to the cult's beliefs or practices). Eclipse was very very traumatised and has complete amnesia regarding this as well as other childhood abuse and something something dissociative disorder... You get it.

Eclipse doesn't really understand why he's always been a troublesome child, chalking up his odd behaviour to "mood swings". When Eclipse hasn't eaten he gets "unusually hangry" and often has "odd cravings".. It has "compulsions" to graffiti despite cognitively having no desire to break the rules and otherwise act like a delinquent. As a highschooler, he has a reputation for being incredibly depressed and a loner. It was initially a target of bullying until suddenly acting out with such violence and vitriol it was suspended and the student he'd hurt moved schools before it had even returned to school. Everyone has mixed feelings about Eclipse, and Eclipse doesn't have the capacity to understand others let alone himself most of the time so..

Honestly, idk what I really have in plan for Rain's story. I'm kind of just projecting onto it for now and using him to vent my angst and my need for edginess.

I also just find him funny because he's comedic levels of depressed to me. Like it's sad but also when you talk to it, it's always saying things as if there's a :( as the end of his sentences. Instead of running around for sport it lays face down because he's so tired and the P.E teacher was given a note ages ago from its guardian excusing it from participating if he doesn't want to. It's wearing a shirt with a big frowny face, he was emo before knowing what emo was, it doesn't have anything to talk about because it's not interested in things. Depression icon tbh.

Then that's contrasted with Merula who just be bringing a mysterious flask to school and keeps starting shit and is strangely fun to be around while also being super scary.

Boys will see the ghoul in their class that clearly has something wrong with it and love that freak. Everyone lining up for boy too sad to notice you are trying to flirt and girl who can put out a cigarette on them. That song You're So Creepy fr.

Eclipse Rain can be problematic plural, depression, trauma rep if its heart desires.

Look at this emo, demon boy. He looks like he is ready for some trouble. ( •̀ᴗ•́ )و ̑̑

For real, though, he gave me sooo much trouble last night. I wanted to draw my demon designs again so I'd originally plan to draw a regular demon in this 'at a rock concert, partying' pose, quickly finding out that attempting to draw a human chin in an upright position was going to be a pain in the ass (although I did manage to figure it out).

Then I noticed that the proportions I'd made for the body did not match an adult male's so I pivoted to a teenage instead (also because I thought it would be easier for me to draw). After this point that I decided to make the character an emo kid and added a wolf theme to it (because early 2000s, the peak of emo fashion and those edgy wolf ocs. No, just me? Okay...).

Next, I had to outline the body sketch I made with a darker pencil since I realized that I would not be able to see the lines I would make for the clothes if I could not see where the body ends and the clothes begin.

Then I'd to look around for references for the clothes this boy needed to wear. Google was not giving me the references I wanted so I used Tumblr to find inspiration instead (I mean, I have an account, might as well use it.). After getting ⋆the vibes⋆, I still had to design a general outfit for him, which meant more searching. (/◡_◡)

When I finally got past the 'Build-a-Wardrobe' phrase and commence drawing him, the jacket decided to be a little troublesome, especially the fur on the right half of the torso. I had to use colour to indicate where the fur was so that it didn't blend into the rest of the outfit. I did, however, noticed that the shoulders were looking odd so I added some fur to them too. (Also, I drew the outline of the pants before deciding on an outfit so I had to design around that. Ripped pants are emo enough, right?)

Once I got past all of that, my pen decided to not work so outlining him was a real sore, especially at certain areas like the horns or fur.

The easiest parts of this drawing were the goat legs and the tail I added after I finished outlining the rest of the drawing, lol.

Anyways, overall I'm proud of him and below the read-more are the main references I'd used. Hope you enjoyed the rest of your day. (ﾐ꒡ᆽ꒡ﾐ)

This Tumblr post I'd found featuring a belt with a fanged mouth at the front (The demon is wearing it, just due to the size and limitations, I had to simplified it.)

Last, but not least, the jewelry. I mostly just came up with it from my imagination. I noticed that the emo photos I looked at feature at least one form of piecing and I saw an image that shows someone wearing two necklaces. Giving my character a choker, rings and a bracelet just made sense to me.

hwang hyunjin. somewhat of a walking stereotype, to say the least. your typical bad boy—mostly black, cunning words and sly eyes, black boots, piercings, and the motorcycle. but there was something else about him—probably his troublesome personality and mischievous antics—that kept you coming back for more even though you knew you should stop.

The groups were abuzz with gossip as they left, yet Octavinelle was remarkably silent as they were guided down the halls to their new home for the year.

It was Jade who approached Howl first, eyeing Grim who slept silently in their arms. “If I may ask,” he began.

“I mean, you’ll probably ask either way, so go ahead.” Howl mumbled back, eyes trained on the halls.

Jade laughed softly, leaning in closer, “Out of curiosity, what made you choose Octavinelle?”

Howl shrugged, “vibes.”

“Who’s that?” Howl finally turned to look at him.

“The housewarden, the one you picked.”

Jade hummed, “How sweet.”

Howl let out a full laugh, shaking their head. It caught people nearby off guard, “No, no. Chicago is known for uh, hmm…it certainly has a reputation. All the politicians are crooked, and there’s a lot of, uh, gang activity.” They reached a hand to carefully scratch behind Grim’s ears, “The devil that you know verses the devil that you don’t, you feel?”

Jade nodded sagely, his face reading nothing as they finally entered Mostro Lounge. “I look forward to seeing more of you, Howl Pendragon.”

Howl shrugged, “You too, I guess. I didn’t catch your name?”

“My Apologies, truly I am a fan of formal introductions, but I simply couldn’t wait to meet you. My name is Jade Leech, my twin brother,” he turned to point at someone nearly identical to him, but mirrored in every way, “is Floyd Leech. We work with Azul. I am the vice housewarden of Octavinelle.” He grinned sharply, something dark glinting in his eye, “If you have any need, don’t hesitate to come to me. I would be glad to be of assistance.”

Howl hummed, nodded, then said, “Will do, sailor. Hey, one last question - are your teeth naturally that sharp, or do you file them?”

Jade’s face dropped for a moment, only to respond with a chuckle and a shake of his head as turned and walked toward Azul.

As if the interdimensional Wizard couldn’t be any more troublesome, upon arriving in Octavinelle and checking to make sure everyone was there, Azul growled when he realized they were mysteriously missing.

“Jade?” He asked tightly, “Where is the one with the cat?”

Jade looked up from his place behind the bar, an eyebrow raised, “He isn’t here?”

Floyd decided to jump in at this very moment, “Oh, I saw him snag a couple cookies and wander off. Seemed like he were lookin’ for something.”

Azul turned to him, whispering, “Please, go find our new, ah, guest. We can’t have someone missing on the very first day.”

Floyd shrugged, “‘m sure he’s fine, how much trouble could one little fish get up to?”

Jade and Azul looked at him with matching deadpan expressions.

“I remember one little fish getting into quite some trouble last year,” Jade hummed, “If I recall, his name was Floyd Leech.”

“Hey!” Floyd cried indignantly, “I’m not a little fish. I’m a big fish. And it was that stupid mirror’s fault for tryina put you in Pomefiore instead of Octavinelle.”

Azul adjusted his glasses, “Floyd, go find the student please.”

“I don’t wanna.” Floyd said, “Sounds so boring.”

Azul barely contained his anger, “Do you want to sit up straight for six hours again? Because I won’t hesitate to use my magic to make you.”

The mer-eel frowned, putting down his drink with a glare, “Fine, I’ll go find the little guppy. I’m sure they’d let me have fun.”

It took Floyd maybe twenty minutes before he found Howl, who walked up to him with a smile, “Ah, Jade- wait, no, oh shit what did he say your name was…F…rock and roll band from the ninties…Floyd! Hi Floyd.” Howl grinned, leaning in, “Taking a breather?”

Floyd tilted his head, “You’re awfully cheery for someone who’s breaking the rules,” he said, grinning down with full malice, “Do you know what happens to fishies who stray from their school?”

“They get eaten.” Howl said confidently, still smiling, “Let me guess, you’re here to retrieve me?”

“Correct-a-mundo, lil fish. And since Azul sent me, that means I get to squeeze you~” he giggled gleefully, towering over Howl.

Howl didn’t seemed fazed, though, instead turning to pull something from their pocket. Floyd stopped leaning to watch with interest as Howl pulled out…

A cookie.

But not a cookie from mostro lounge.

“Where did you get that?” As Floyd’s immediate question.

“Oh! I heard earlier that Diasomnia’s housewarden didn’t make it to the opening ceremony, so I snagged a cookie to sneak out and give to him. Turns out he never got the memo, and in exchange for the cookie and a quick chat, he gave me a cookie in return!” Howl smiled brightly at Floyd, “Here. I didn’t mean to trouble you into chasing after me, and I think you’ve earned a treat.”

Floyd took it carefully. It was a sugar cookie, delicately decorated with candied rose petals and sugar crystals.

“This doesn’t mean you’re gettin’ out of punishment,” Floyd said, biting into the cookie.

Howl shrugged, “Figured as much, since Jade said Azul’s the housewarden and he’s his vice housewarden. But still, cookies make chores better.”

Floyd ate the cookie and, yeah, he did feel better. Much less inclined to squeeze the shit out of Howl, but still pretty pumped to pummel them.

“Eh, alright, c’mon escape artist. Azul will have my head if we aren’t back soon.”

Howl nodded, “Fair enough. I was tryina slip back in before anyone noticed I was gone, guess I failed at that.”

“Miserably.” Floyd laughed, “You really gotta keep better track of time.”

The pair arrived back at the dorm to be met with a very pissed off looking Housewarden, and a mildly amused Jade Leech.

Floyd leaned over and whispered, “You should run. It’d be fun to chase you.”

Howl laughed, turning to say something back before Azul cut them off.

“Do you think breaking my rules is funny?”

Howl looked back, eyes full of amusement and smile full of sarcasm, “I was actually laughing at what Floyd said. But I do think that your pissed off expression is pretty funny. You stand like a Karen yelling at a manager for a refund when you’re mad.” They giggled, covering their mouth with their hand.

Azul could have sworn he was seeing red as he took out his pen, flicking a spell at them. In an instant, their muscles seized and they found they couldn’t move, eyes growing wide for just a moment before relaxing, holding a pretty impressive poke face. Too bad they already gave away their alarm.

Azul stepped closer, eyes narrow as he stood toe to toe with them. He leaned in and whispered, “This will be your one and only warning from me. Obey my rules, or you will be in for a world of pain.”

Howl might have laughed if they hadn’t been bound by his magic, instead their eyes flicked nervously to Jade, who kept a nonchalant, impassive face as he looked back. They tried to see Floyd, but he was out of view. Instead, they turned and locked eyes with Azul, an awful smirk blooming on their lips.

“Okie dokie, daddy.” They said, batting their eyes in a sickeningly sweet voice.

Azul’s magic faltered and Howl stepped back, now wearing a shit eating grin.

“Floyd, please deal with this…” he waved a hand vaguely, trying to cal, himself.

Howl and Floyd locked eyes for a moment before Howl shrugged and said, “Let’s have some fun.” Then began sprinting away.

They could not outrun Floyd.

Chapter Three: In hindsight [Name] probably should’ve minded his own business. Actually, NO. He was going to blame everything on Gojo. If Gojo hadn’t sent him on that mission to play dutiful senpai [Name] never would’ve gotten involved with Sukuna’s vessel beyond being his upperclassman. But noooo. Now [Name] actually feels something for Itadori, including an obligation to check on the kid. Yuji would most likely be fine, he was being protected by Gojo, and like [Name]’s favorite Sensei, Yaga seems to at least consider Gojo’s opinion when making decisions. His power is well respected regardless of whether or not the blue-eyed Sorcerer is liked. The problem, in [Name]’s own words, was ‘that damn principal’ who liked to torture some of the more problematic recruits. Yaga of course called it a form of vetting. He didn’t want to enroll any students that would die way too easily or cause more problems than they were worth. With people like Yuji and [Name] the whole vetting process became troublesome. Straightforward but complex. They didn’t hide anything really and didn’t have any secret motives, but there were a lot of unknowns in their lives. Especially about where they came from and how they would act in the heat of the moments. ---------------- “Whoa! It’s in the mountains? Is this really Tokyo?” “This isn;t actually out of the ordinary for a tokyo suburb” “What about Fushiguro?” “He’s fast asleep after receiving jujutsu treatment” -------------------------------- “Fushiguro-kun!” “Hmm” “Fushiguro!” “[Name]-senpai” “Where is Gojo-sensei? He was there to drag [Name] from out of the wreckage after the accident and he was the first person to welcome [Name] to Jujutsu Tech. So yeah, Sukuna’s threat pissed [Name] off a bit. Yuji finally shook Sukuna off and continued to talk to Gojo. About what [Name] has no clue, the two of them were easily excitable and all over the place. In the meantime he was trying to think of advice to give to Yuji before he was thrown into Gorilla territory. Yaga wouldn’t let [Name] stay for the interview and [Name]’s not exactly sure he’d want to anyway. “Hey Puppy!” “Puppy?” ‘Oh shit’ [Name] thought ‘I totally meant to say Yuji. Okay [Name] just breeze past it’

“You’re going into some dangerous territories/ That old man will be looking for a reason to throw you out. Don’t screw up. I know that for sure.” Within Yuji, Sukuna hummed in curiosity. That boy had no trouble overpowering Sukuna. And with one word at that. Of course, right now he had only the strength of one finger, but for the boy not to break a sweat. He couldn’t help but think things were getting interesting. ----------------------- “This is your room, you can do whatever you want with it.” “Whoa it’s huge” “The second- and third-years are out right now. But it would be hilarious to see a beaten-up Fushiguro bring the fingers to me while I relax” Both he and gojo thought about it a little. Gojo agreed it would be funny. “Okay! To be honest there’s no way you’re not fighting” “Hey! Was that a test?!” “If they were that easy to find we would’ve found them already! There are some with a large overwhelming presence. Others that keep quiet. And some that have already been consumed by a cursed spirit. “With regard to searching for these things… It’s gonna be a pain. But now we have you. usually it wouldn't even bother kenma tbh. but boy, this asshole really did a number on him when he shamelessly flirted with you, not even paying mind that THEIR BOYFRIEND was literally behind his s/o.

of course, he would silently glare at the person until the person notices kenma's glare. laughing nervously the guy asked if kenma was his older brother.

you were abt to open your mouth but kenma answered for you, wrapping his arms around you and putting his chin on your shoulder as he kept his cold glare at the boy.

"i'm their boyfriend, dickwad."

you felt literal chills when he answered the guy who just awkwardly shuffling away from the tense atmosphere after mumbling a quick 'sorry'

usually kenma's pretty chill with handling jealousy but this put him in a bad mood. you had to assure him with kisses and cuddles afterwards to get him out of his bad mood. and he didn't mind at all.

OIKAWA TORU :

of course, with oikawa's outgoing and straightforward personality he will not hesitate to put the person he's jealous of back in his place.

if he was ever jealous of someone else he would act all pouty and cutesy, huffing while he would turn away from you and if you ask why, he'll reply "oh i dont know, ASK THAT GUY YOU WERE TALKING TO!" he would become a bit of a brat but would still melt if you hugged or kissed him.

if he ever saw you talking to a guy, he would come up with a smile, but on the inside he would be killingbthe guy in 500 ways.

his façade would usually do the trick and hide the meaning behind playful words and fake smiles well.

petty as heck.

but if the guy was downright flirting with you, 50/50 would prolly fuck the guy up. if the dude was making you extremely uncomfortable, oikawa would grab the guy by the collar and tell him "if i ever see you talking and even looking at them, i will not hesistate to put you 6 feet underneath."

but if the guy was just flirting and not getting the hint, he would still step in but won't resort to violence, instead, he would wrap an arm around your waist and pull you closer to him and say "oh hello, i see that you've met my lover." he would smile at him menacingly.

would be protective ALWAYS.

NISHINOYA YUU :

lmao we all know how this boy's gonna act.

if he was ever jealous he would voice it out, also insulting the person he was jealous of. "huh, that ugly ass thought you would give him the attention that he wanted? haha bitch thought wrong." or something like that.

but he'll be a real baby abt it too, constantly clinging onto you and be pouty with tears, and you, being the patient person that you are, would reassure him with kisses and cuddles.

if he ever caught you being hit on by some random guy, him and tanaka will be 100% on it. because if you were dating noya, tanaka would be the best bro to you, he would be as protective as nishinoya.

the two would come over and intimidate the guy while noya would put an arm on your shoulder as tanaka made faces at the guy.

"this guy bothering you babe?" and the guy would just walk away, thinking that the two was really weird. noya would laugh and brofist tanaka for doing a good job chasing away the dude.

and he would kiss you on the cheek.

BOKUTO KOUTARO :

when jealous, there could be 2 options. option 1: will be clingy and pouty, crying like a baby and would beg for assurance that you won't go to that guy. option 2: emo mode (on). he would be gloomy and sulky at the fact that the guy had made him jealous and would think that he wasn't good enough. he's more than enough, i love him.

if he went with the 1st option, it would just be soft bokuto hours. just cuddling, soft and sweet kisses on his face. you would spend hours cuddling and hugging him just saying how he would be the only one that you wanna love in this life time. and it'll cheer him up eventually.

the 2nd option is the one that you disliked more. it's not like you didn't want to be there for your boyfriend, it's just more troublesome than the first option. it'll take a lot of coaxing and hugs to get him out of that state, he'll just be silent as he would cling onto you and bury his head in your neck. 50/50 would probably fall asleep and wake up feeling okay.

if he sees you with someone that's flirting with you, he would step in. beefy bokuto would intimidate the guy immediately as bokuto would stare into his soul intensely, and before bokuto could even speak. the guy would leave.

later he would be all cuddly, saying that the guy stood no chance with your number 1 ace, and you would just giggle in response.

Okay. Thoughts on the first three episodes of "The Wheel of Time".

Overall, I liked it. Most of it, I actually loved. RJ's world-building was there. The Two Rivers looked just like I thought it would. Shadar Logoth's eerie atmosphere was suffocating, and was a promise of the nightmare to come. (It gives me hope for how the Ways will be portrayed - even if the actual Waygates apparently won't look anything like they're described in the books.) In fact, as a whole, the series has captured the atmosphere of the books. So far.

There are quite significant differences. Out of necessity, events have been telescoped, compacted. My Kindle isn't fired up right now, so I can't give a page count for how long it took to get from page one to our heroes fleeing the Two Rivers, but it was a chunk, and they couldn't practically cram that into one fifty-five-ish minute long episode. So liberties were, indeed, taken. Moiraine did not conceal that she was an Aes Sedai. There was no fractious meeting between Nynaeve and the village Council. Padan Fain was a bit creepy, but a non-reader might consider him something of a throwaway character for all the attention he received from anyone but Mat. Until the Trollocs arrived, anyway.

Thom Merrilan was not there.

Rand, Perrin, Mat, and Egwene have definitely been aged up. Rand and Egwene are in an intimate relationship. And here are the two things that are, for me, the most problematic (and, seriously, SPOILERS here!): (1) Mat's family life/circumstances are pretty bleak, and (2) Perrin is married and his wife dies during the Winternight attack. I won't say how. I don't understand why either of those stories was necessary. Sure, Mat's father was a canny horsetrader and a gambler, but nowhere in the books do I recall anything about him being a womanizer. Nor do I recall that his mother was a drunk or crazy or both. I realize that their characters weren't fleshed out as much as Rand's in the beginning, and maybe the writers were trying to get all three boys on a level emo-playing field to further conceal who was going to be the Dragon Reborn. Still, those backstories took it too far, I thought.

On the other hand, Moiraine and Lan in a hot tub... nothing romantic or sexual - but I will say that Lan has a nice, um, posterior.

The Trolloc attack was horrific. It opened with a very shocking scene and then ran with it. The way that Moiraine and Lan fought was epic. We'd all seen glimpses in the trailer, but the whole was better than I imagined. The depiction of saidar was breathtaking. Also, the Women's Circle taking on a Trolloc was all kinds of awesome!

The non-reader was left with a cliff-hanger when Nynaeve was dragged off by her braid by a Trolloc. It made her reappearance at the end of episode two all the more dramatic.

Moiraine's telling of the story of Manetheren took place on the road, rather than to the village at large. While I've always thought that hearing their history was part of what spurred the Two River folk to rebuild in such a way that they were ready for Perrin's eventual return, again, time was an issue. The next wave of Trollocs was rolling down the mountain, our heroes had to skedaddle, so story time was relegated to the road.

There was no Draghkar. Pity that.

The fate of Master Hightower at Taren's Ferry was, well... I'm sure his sacrifice for the sake of drama is appreciated. Perhaps, under his cloak, he was wearing a red shirt...

Sorry.

The dreams were troubling, and a bit gross. Perrin's first interaction with the wolves was cautiously friendly, and a bit gross.

Moiraine leading Egwene through her first touching of saidar was almost straight from the text, which underscores, I suppose, my overall point. Troublesome backstories, drowning ferrymen, no Draghkars aside, the bones of the story have remained intact. The Dark One is returning. The Dragon is Reborn. The Aes Sedai stand in the breach. And four young people are cast into the whirlwind to meet their fates.

Moving on...

Yes, Thom makes his entrance. He saves Rand and Mat from a Darkfriend. Perrin and Egwene meeting the Tuatha'an was almost what I expected; the missing element was Elyas. I hope he won't be sacrificed to expediency, but my gut says he will.

Mat and Rand and the Darkfriend... I'll confess that I just started my re-read yesterday. Partly because I've been on a Dresden Files re-read for the last month, partly because I kinda want to experience the series without differences between the books and the show constantly jumping out at me. So, I have a vague recollection (from *mumbles* years ago) of Rand and Mat encountering a Darkfriend woman on their journey but I don't recall exactly where it was in the timeline - was it before they met up with Bayle Domon, or after? And the dead Aiel in the cage - I thought that was a Perrin encounter? Anyway, for purposes of the narrative, it doesn't really matter.

Nynaeve finding Lan and Moiraine, with the latter in bad shape from a wound she'd taken in the village battle, was very good. Too soon to say sparks were flying, but there was... discombobulation. (I'm pretty sure Moiraine wasn't wounded in the book. There was a reference somewhere to Lan nearly riding a horse to death carrying her to Myrelle for healing, once upon a time, but that was it. But, hey, dramatic effect, right?)

I love the music.

Oh, and I'm fully invested in despising the Children of the Light just on principle!

There are quibbles. Of course, there are. The Aes Sedai rings look nothing like I thought they would. Way too elaborate. This apparent always dressing in the colors of one's Ajah seems rather on the nose. All in all, the special effects are quite good, but the running-on-four-legs beasties that are tracking for the Trollocs - something about them doesn't work. If you're a "Doctor Who" fan, think back to the Slitheen chasing the Doctor, Rose, and Harriet Jones through 10 Downing Street. These beasties moved like that. A bit too obviously CGI. Okay for the BBC, but you expect something more for the money Jeff Bezos is paying.

And, apparently, "bastard" is another word for "woolhead".

Anyway, that's all I can remember at the moment. Yes, I am invested in this. If it wasn't as good as it is - and it is very good! - I would still be invested because I started reading the books in 1992 and they have been a huge part of my life. Seeing them on screen has been a dream for years.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to watch them again.
