Bahamas Double Meal

The soft breeze that hits the white cotton curtains, flowing in the room shining some daylight. Sol gets hit with the bright sun, squinting his eyes and yawning. Leaning up, his muscular biceps and soft toned pecs in his plaid boxers stretching. Next to him his boyfriend Izzy, laying with his cheetah print top and pant set, sleeping softly. Sol smiled laying on top of him, giving his neck some kisses making Izzy squirm underneath him waking up.

"Sol, Jesus you couldn't wake me up properly?" Izzy asked annoyed, rubbing his eyes to show his dark chocolate color. Sol smirked, giving Izzy a soft kiss getting up.

"And where would the fun in that be? Now get up, we got to enjoy the rest of our vacation!" Sol cheered, running to the bathroom with clothes in hand. Izzy rolled his eyes getting up himself and looking through his suitcase. The both of them were on an anniversary trip to the Bahamas for a week. The first day they enjoyed the spa and massages that was provided, the cuisines that were made to their delight, and some shopping in stores they have never thought of enjoying.

Today was the day of the beach, Sol coming out of the bathroom with his white tropical swim shorts, with a matching top that was left open too show off his toned body. Izzy staring too long, Sol pec bounced to have Izzy's eyes hungrily dart to them, making him roll his eyes blushing at being teased.

"Don't worry, there's enough of me to go around~" Sol purred, Izzy turning around and changing in front of him. Izzy's smaller frame putting on his tight rose shorts with a white-lace kimono, topping it off with a black and rose ascot, tying it around his neck. Sol hugged Izzy from behind, kissing his neck softly, getting a small giggle from him.

"Alright, let's go to the beach!" Sol cheered, grabbing Izzy's hand and their packed belongings for this day, running off out of the room to walk to the beach.

Seeing the huge crowd tanning on beach chairs, playing volleyball in different areas, children playing with sand, swimming in the oceans, and many of those with pets throwing toys for them to chase. Both of them looked for a spot to sit, seeing an empty area with a beach umbrella placed near the front of the ocean. Izzy walked too it (more like speed-walked) to claim the spot. Sol following behind dragging the cooler. Laying their towels on the chairs, Sol opened up a water bottle drinking it quickly.

"Sol, can you close the umbrella, I just want to tan for a few minutes." Izzy asked him, Sol nodded, getting up and closing the umbrella, getting a thank you in return. Sol took off his shirt and placed it on the chair.

"Hey, I'm going to go for a quick swim." Sol reminded, Izzy giving a thumbs up and placing himself to lay on his stomach, taking his kimono off too get the heat on his back. Sol runs off in the sand to the shallow waters, the small waves touching above his ankles, making him shiver with delight of the cold water. He was about to walk closer to swim till he heard Izzy turning around.

"Jesus watch the hell you are going you prick!" Izzy yelled holding his head wincing at a couple surfers who ran with their surfboards in hand, cockily laughing and jokingly saying sorry. Sol got out of the ocean and sprinted too him, passing by the surfers earlier.

"Izzy let me see, is it bad?" Sol asked trying to get him to move his hands out of the way. Izzy slowly moving his hands down to see a small scratch and redness on his head.

"Is it bad?" Izzy asked, Sol shook his head, getting a cold water bottle and having him hold it on his head. Izzy wincing from the coldness. Sol looked at the ocean and gritted his teeth, getting up.

"Keep on tanning, I will be right back." Sol stated, Izzy nodding his head and laying down with the water on his head, putting his sunglasses on to cover his eyes from the sun. Sol sprinted to the ocean diving in swimming further towards the deep end of the water. Hearing laughter, he saw the surfers from earlier together waiting for the next wave. They both were far from shore, and even far from anyone else, making this a lot easier than he thought. Sol gave them a death glare, swimming underwater towards them. He swam closer, pushing both of the surfers into each other falling off their surfboards. Grabbing the first surfer that fell, unhinging his jaw and swallowing their head. The first surfer thrashing as he was being swallowed, the second surfer keeping his head above water looking for his friend. Ducking his head underneath just to see his friend having half of his body in Sol's mouth. The surfer swimming trying to tug his friend out. Sol grabbed the other surfer dudes hands and kept it locked onto the first ones hips, taking a big gulp, swallowing both hips and the hands, keeping the second surfer in place. The surfer duo thrashed as Sol kept swallowing, finishing up the first surfer dude and getting up too the second one's head. His toned abs now expanding immensely in the cool water, a face imprint was seen above his bellybutton making the surfer friend scream underwater as his friends fate is sealed. Sol grabbing the head and forcing him into his mouth, his belly slowly squirming with his first meal. Sol swallowing up to the friends butt, he swam up to the top of the water, the friends thrashing legs being slurped down burping loudly. Sol swam too shore, his belly squirming violently each stroke.

"Man, you guys are heavy." Sol commented, patting his belly as he makes it to the shallow end. Getting out of the ocean, people were staring and whispering amongst each other, Sol smiling widely as he winks at the bystanders near him. He walks too Izzy, lifting his belly up and letting go, his belly hitting Izzy's legs, making him scream lightly. Before he could get yelled out he stares at his boyfriends belly.

"Sol what did you do?" Izzy asked curiously concerned. Sol smirked rubbing his belly, joking around by tapping his chin.

"I might have gotten a double meal of surfer dudes from earlier.~" He teased, wiggling his eyebrows. Izzy rolled his eyes, staring at the engorged belly, giving it a small rub, Sol purred from the touch.

"Next time, give me a heads up that you are going to hunt." Izzy stated, Sol nodded sitting down in the sand in front of Izzy, letting him rub his belly as it thrashes around. Both of them enjoying the rest of the day at the beach.

Currently thinking about dad! Rooster and dad! Cyclone with babies who are their complete mini me’s (and who also happen to be in the same class at school)

- Rooster and Duck, a little boy with big brown eyes and an even bigger heart, seldom seen without a tropical shirt and a mustache drawn on with a brown marker

- Cyclone and Blizzard (also known as Izzy), a little girl with pink beaded braids who rules over her classroom with an iron fist and has wit well beyond her years.

They’re personalities makes them somewhat unlikely friends, but they spend most of their time in each others orbit and insist on eating lunch together every day.

(Blizzard’s lunch, a bento fit for a princess, is painstakingly packed by Beau everyday before he leaves for work. While Duck’s lunch always comes with a short “you’ve got this, kiddo” note penned by Bradley)

You can almost always find them sitting under a big shade tree while they dig in to their packed lunches. They also take this time to discuss the most important topics, Including:

Despite their close friendship, neither of them have explicitly mentioned the other to their parents. It’s only revealed after summer vacation when the school’s open house happens, and little Ducky (who’s hid behind Rooster all day) sees her and takes off running, nearly tackling her into a hug.

Digimon Adventure 01x10 - Kentarumon, the Defender / A Clue from the Digi Past

Previously on Digimon Adventure: It was so cold. So unbearably cold. Unbelievably cold. Facing down hypothermia and impossibly low temperatures, Taichi and Yamato were able to solve their problems through judicious application of more snow.

Now we turn our attention to another pair of kids, separated from the others by the fracturing of File Island.

Today's episode opens with Mimi and Koushiro's beds descending into the fractured island shards. In the dub, Izzy offers us some narration to coax us through shots of the beds descending.

Izzy: Tentomon, I would say we're traveling at a very high speed, plummeting toward an unidentified island! And, uh... crash landing is imminent! Tentomon: Try to think of it as if we're just hitting the beach!

XD That one got me. Inappropriate time for dark puns, Tentomon.

Upon landing in the midst of a tropical jungle, Mimi and Palmon discuss where to go from here.

Mimi: Where are we? Palmon: Since we were blown away so suddenly, I can't be sure. But I think this is a jungle. Mimi: Well, even I know that. What will happen to us now? Palmon: I don't know, but we should try looking for someone in the meantime. Mimi: Yeah, you're right! There has to be someone close by.

It's a pretty basic dialogue exchange. We don't know where we are and we're separated from the others; Let's go looking.

A perfect time for the dub to spice things up with some goofs.

Mimi: Oh no, humidity! Palmon: Yeah, some kind of tropical rainforest but not one I'm familiar with. It all happened so fast. Where are we? Mimi: Have you any idea what humidity does to my hair!? It goes all poodle-ey. Not a pretty sight. Palmon: Uhhh, perhaps we ought to look around and see if we can find any of the others. Mimi: Yeah! Let's go! Maybe we can at least find some air conditioning or something.

Unfortunately, per usual, that means playing Mimi off as lacking perspective and not understanding the situation she's in. I like Mimi complaining about the humidity; It's the last line, where she's expressly more concerned with fixing her hair than finding safety or her friends, that bugs me.

Meanwhile, Koushiro finds his way to an interesting ruin. Tentomon notices Koushiro's interest and tries to urge him to move along; Finding their friends should be the priority. But Koushiro tells him no; He thinks if he studies these ruins, he may learn information that could be useful later on. As Koushiro enters the ruins, Tentomon reluctantly follows his Partner.

Meanwhile, Mimi finds a bunch of bananas hanging from a tree! Excited, she asks Palmon to retrieve them - though Palmon struggles with the unfamiliar word "banana", which should probably be Mimi's first warning that this isn't about to go well.

Overjoyed, Mimi exclaims:

Mimi: I haven't had food that actually looks like food in a long time!

That's depressing. We're on Day 6 of File Island and the emergency rations were only going to last 1-2 days after they started feeding the Digimon too, so that checks out.

Dub Mimi has her own plans for the bananas.

Mimi: I was really starved! Now we can pretend we're having banana splits!

I don't think Palmon knows what that is but good on you for keeping positive!

Tragically, when Mimi goes to open the banana, she discovers that there's nothing inside the peel. The whole bunch is nothing but empty peels. Palmon bites one of the peels in half and reports that it's surprisingly good, but Mimi isn't having it. She yells out in frustration and then sulks next to the poop that fell off the tree.

Wait, what?

"Is that hair mousse?" ~Dub Mimi trying very hard to censor the obvious poop on the ground.

The poop, it seems, came from these two lunkheads. Palmon IDs them as Scumon (the yellow one) and Chuumon (the mouse). The dub refers to the former as Sukamon, based on a different romanization of the kanji that forms his name. But you can clearly it pronounced "Scum-mon".

From there, the narrator gives us the rundown on Scumon, but not Tyuumon. He's an Adult-stage Virus-type Digimon. His name, of course, derives from the word "scum".

Narrator: Scumon. He's shaped like a sparkling golden poop. Because he has no talents of his own, the smaller Chuumon acts as his brain.

For her rundown, Dub Palmon avoids the poop conversation but otherwise conveys the same idea.

Palmon: Sukamon and his mouse buddy are always together because they share the same teeny-tiny brain.

She also IDs Sukamon and Chuumon as "Sukamon and Chuumon, also known as the Digi-Losers", so apparently in the dub they have a reputation for being pathetic. Meanwhile, Dub Mimi calls Sukamon a "talking dessert", which is probably the grossest possible way to disguise him being a poop.

Scumon attacks, hopping across tree branches and hurling poops down at Mimi and Palmon. Mimi flees at first, but then she loses her temper and whips around to confront the pair.

Mimi demands to know what this is about, and Scumon explains that she's being robbed. He orders her to turn over all of her belongings. Naturally, Mimi refuses, so the assault renews.

Fleeing from the disgusting onslaught, Mimi tries to take cover behind a tree. The dub adds this line:

Mimi: That's it, I give up! I want to see the camp therapist!

Which is gold. Absolutely. Therapy for Mimi. Therapy for all of these children.

It's there that Scumon seizes his moment, sliding quietly down a tree to sneak up on her.

Scumon grabs the strap of Mimi's purse to take it from her, but his hand touches her Digivice in the process. Light erupts from the Digivice, blanketing Scumon and Chuumon.

The light seems to have done something to Scumon and Chuumon,

Scumon: My heart somehow feels refreshed! Chuumon: Very refreshed! Mimi: Well, we're not refreshed at all! Scumon: I feel like I've turned into a good poop! Chuumon: Good one! Good one! Mimi: (skeptically) I wonder if that's true. Palmon: Let me ask: Have you seen any humans around here? Scumon: Humans? Mimi: (gestures to Mimi) Something that looks like her. Scumon: (considers) Oh! Yes! Mimi: You saw them!? Scumon: It was far off so I can't be sure but I saw something like you and a Tentomon fall in the Ancient Dino Region. Mimi: Really!? If Tentomon was there, that must mean Koushiro-kun is there too! Palmon: But have you really become good Digimon now? Scumon: (dismissive) Yeah right, ahahaha! Palmon: You don't deny it!? Chuumon: At the very least, we feel like being good right now! Palmon: Then take us to the Ancient Dino Region.

Virus-types gonna Virus-type but at least they're feeling helpful. They're going to take us to Tentomon and Koushiro!

Meanwhile, in the dub:

Chuumon: That's better than chewing tin foil! Sukamon: I feel all tingly and refreshed, like a whole new person! Chuumon: Yeah! We're a whole new person! Mimi: Is this one as much of a pain as the last one!? Sukamon: No, really! We'll be nice from now on! Really! Mimi: So you'll leave us alone? Palmon: Wait! First, tell us if you've seen any other humans around here. Sukamon: Any what? Palmon: (gestures to Mimi) Creatures that look like this one! Sukamon: Uhh.... Chuumon: Well, as a matter of fact! Sukamon: Oh, yeah! I forgot! Mimi: Tell me! Sukamon: Well, it wasn't nearly as pretty as you are, of course. But we saw something fall into the old ruins with a Tentomon! Mimi: So when were you planning on telling us!? Next week!? They must have seen Izzy too, Palmon! Palmon: Listen, you two: Can you take us there? It's important that we find him. Sukamon: Sure! Okey-dokey! Palmon: No funny business! Sukamon: Cross our heart. Chuumon: And hope to die! Palmon: Well, of all the absolutely ridiculous things to say.

The bit about being a good poop is removed, of course. But in its place, we have the "chewing tin foil" line and an assertion that Koushiro cannot rival Mimi in prettiness.

Though, between the two endings to this conversation, Scumon and Chuumon responding to "Are you really good Digimon?" with "LOL NO but we're cool right now!" is my favorite.

Scumon and Chuumon lead the way to the Ancient Dino Region. There's. Uh. There's one small problem.

It's on a different shard.

While Mimi and Palmon contemplate how to solve this problem, Scumon and Chuumon reveal their true motives for being so helpful.

Mimi: Do we have to jump to get over there? Palmon: That's really scary. Chuumon: Hey, are you happy we helped you? Mimi: Yeah.... Scumon: Then, as thanks for helping, let's go on a date! (blows kiss) Mimi: YOU MUST BE JOKING!!! Palmon: (Poison Ivy's the other side) LET'S GO!!! GRAB ON!!! (Palmon swings them across to the other shard) Scumon: ...she left. Mimi: (cries) This keeps happening. I hate it. Scumon: (calling across) Let's meet again some time! Mimi: NO WAY!!! (akanbe)

For real, this does keep happening.

The dub version plays it this way:

Mimi: How are we supposed to get over there? Chuumon: You're the one with the big hat; You think of something! A gorgeous girl like you must have a big brain! Mimi: (sarcastic) Thanks a lot. Really. Sukamon: Before you go, maybe you'd give us a big Thank You kiss, huh? (blows kiss) Mimi: OH, PLEASE TELL ME THEY'RE KIDDING!!! Palmon: (Poison Ivy's the other side) CLIMB ABOARD QUICKLY!!! (Palmon swings them across to the other shard) Scumon: (sigh) Maybe we jumped the gun. Mimi: Ugh. Blegh. Just the thought of that kiss is making me queasy. Scumon: (calling across) That's okay! We'll wait 'til you come back! Mimi: Don't hold your breath! (akanbe)

The dub version doesn't hit quite the same intensity, but it still works. Losing the setup of Palmon being afraid to jump across costs it a bit, as we don't have that contrast for the "CLIMB ON LET'S GTFO" punchline. Palmon didn't want to make that jump, but she found her courage fast once this turned gross.

The biggest loss in the dub version is the callback to the Numemon earlier. Mimi has been on File Island for six days and been harassed twice now; She deserves to vent about it.

Meanwhile, Koushiro explores the ruin and discovers one of Devimon's Black Gears moving their shard. He speculates that he can make the shard stop moving if he can disable the Gear.

Koushiro: If I can stop this, I'm sure the island will stop moving. Tentomon: Even if that's the case, we aren't enough to stop this large thing. Let's leave it and go look for the others.

Continuing his efforts to convince Koushiro that finding their friends is more important, Tentomon tries to get clever with it. Playing on logistics to try and weasel Koushiro out of this ruin.

Dub Tentomon, on the other hand, sees no value in passive-aggression when aggressive-aggression is right there.

Izzy: You know what I think? If we keep this gear from turning, we'll completely jam that creep up! Tentomon: Or even better, we could not do that! Wouldn't that be fun? And then we can go look for the others like we should have done in the first place!

"Jam that creep up"? Izzy, what does that even mean?

Sadly for Tentomon, Koushiro next gets invested in the data code printed on the walls. It's the same characters as the code from the factory.

Koushiro: I inputted all that data I found then on my computer... If I could just find a power source.... Tentomon: You won't find something convenient like that here! Let's hurry up and go look for everyone.

Tentomon takes another swing. This too misses but at least he tried.

Meanwhile, his Dub Counterpart is at his wit's end.

Izzy: All that data is stored on my hard drive. If only there was a power source here.... Tentomon: Get a power source! Stop the Gear! Is "find our friends" on that list!?

Either way, no dice. Koushiro observes that the ruin has electric lighting, then follows that train of logic until he finds exactly what he needs.

(Sure, an electrical outlet sticking out of a tree root is weird, but at this point, Koushiro doesn't even question it. It's File Island. Shit's like that here.)

To Tentomon's supreme dismay, Koushiro is able to turn on his laptop. He sits down to start deciphering these symbols.

Fortunately, even if they can't go looking for their friends, their friends can come to them.

Mimi also tries to convince Koushiro that searching for the rest of their group is imperative, but he refuses. He thinks that making sense of this data will be the key to understanding File Island and its mysteries.

With nothing else to do, Mimi's left to sit with Tentomon and wait impatiently for him to finish his computer stuff. It's not clear how much time passes, but a transitory wipe tells us that this is some time later.

Mimi: How long are you going to keep doing this? Koushiro: ... Mimi: Will something good happen if you find out what that is? Koushiro: ... Tentomon: Koushiro-han, Mimi-han is talking to you. Mimi: Hey, do we get to go home if you find out what that is? Koushiro: ...well-- Ah! I see! This goes here.... (Mimi stands up impatiently) Tentomon: (panicking) Koushiro-han! Mimi: Are you listening!? When are you going to be done!? Koushiro: ... (Mimi begins to pop a vein from fury) Koushiro: Ah! This is.... (The data on his screen turns into a map of the labyrinth) The ruins are a maze! Mimi: KOUSHIRO, YOU IDIOT!!!

It's at this moment that Mimi breaks down and starts bawling. Full-on ugly crying. Palmon watches Mimi for a moment, then joins in and starts crying too.

In the dub, we have:

Mimi: Izzy, any idea how long this is going to take? I mean, can we go sometime before winter sets in!? Izzy! Tentomon: Izzy, your friend is asking you a question. Mimi: Yeah, and her rear end's getting cold sitting on this stone floor doing nothing! Izzy: Hmm? Oh! Wait... Wait! Yeah, yeah! That might work! (Mimi stands up impatiently) Tentomon: Uh-oh. Izzy! Mimi: Are you ignoring me, you computer geek pipsqueak!? Izzy: (muttering to himself) Okay, so if I make the variable constant and search for file patterns... (Mimi begins to pop a vein from fury) Izzy: HEY! Here's something! (The data on his screen turns into a map of the labyrinth) Prodigious! These ruins are a gigantic maze! Mimi: I'M LEAVING!!! RIGHT NOW!!!

Similar to Taichi and Yamato's fistfight from last episode, both Mimi and Koushiro are sympathetic here and yet we can see how their characteristics are hurting each other.

The start of this exchange flows better in Japanese; There are pauses inserted between Mimi's questions to give Koushiro space to ignore her. In English, she never stops talking so we don't get to see for ourselves that her words are falling on deaf ears.

Nonetheless, there's good bits in both versions. I like the Japanese "Do we get to go home if you find out what that is?" and the English "[My] rear end's getting cold sitting on this stone floor doing nothing!"

Both of these remarks do a good job of conveying Mimi's problem with Koushiro's behavior; Like Taichi and the other side of the ocean, we're in the most dire crisis situation we've been in yet, and he's more interested in satisfying his curiosity than in the wellbeing of his fellow survivors. He doesn't even know what he expects to find here; Just. Something. Anything. Whatever the wall has to offer, honestly; He's not picky.

In conclusion, Koushiro made my kid cry so he needs to die the death of a thousand knives I AM A FAIR AND IMPARTIAL--

At the same time, maybe this is the key to cracking that Black Gear. We'll never know until we find out, right? As easy as it is to sympathize with Tentomon and with Mimi, it's as easy to sympathize with Koushiro. He's trying to concentrate on deciphering a computer code that has already demonstrated its influence over reality in the past, and we're making that harder.

They may not get into a knock-down brawl, but Mimi and Koushiro hurt each other. They struggle to see each other's point of view until it hits a breaking point.

Well, this escalated. Tentomon puts in his best effort to try and calm things down.

Tentomon: P-please don't cry! (turning to Koushiro) Koushiro-han! Koushiro: Y-your crying is bothersome. Tentomon: Koushiro-han, do something! Koushiro: Do what? Mimi: I'm hungry! I'm thirsty! I want to see everyone again! I don't want to stay in here any longer! Palmon: Me neither! Why are you ignoring us, Koushiro? Koushiro: I'm not ignoring you. Palmon: Then why aren't you listening to us? Koushiro: What's important right now is analyzing this data. You might not understand now but ultimately this will be very useful to Mimi-san and-- Mimi: No more! I hate you, Koushiro-kun! Palmon: You're not doing this for Mimi! You just like working with machines more, don't you! Koushiro: No, that's not true. Palmon: It's true, it has to be!

In total meltdown mode, Mimi flees from the room, but the door she exits from leads deeper into the ruin rather than outside. Tentomon flies after her to try and calm her down, leaving Palmon with Koushiro.

The dub seems a little more sympathetic to all sides of this altercation. Well, except Palmon.

Tentomon: Oh, don't cry, Mimi! (Palmon starts crying) Oh no, not you too! (turns to Izzy) Izzy, do something! Izzy: Do what!? My laptop can't do everything! Tentomon: I don't know! Tell her you're sorry! Izzy: Sorry for what!? Mimi: I can't take it anymore! I haven't had anything to eat and my feet are killing me and a giant lemon custard tried to kiss me and all I want to do is get out of here! Palmon: We just want to leave; Is that so wrong!? Honestly, Izzy, how can you be so insensitive!? Izzy: Insensitive!? What do you mean!? Palmon: You ignore us while you poke away at your computer. Izzy: I'm not ignoring you! I'm doing something ultra-important like maybe saving this world! If I can just decipher these hieroglyphs then maybe we could-- Mimi: Just keep your stupid hieroglyphics! Palmon: You just like playing on your computer, that's all! Izzy: You think I'm just playing around here!? Palmon: I almost think you like computers more than people!

Mimi, Izzy, and Tentomon all walk away from this dub with something extra. For Mimi, they rope in the context of her Sukamon encounter earlier leaving her high-strung and stressed out, to make her blow-up feel more understandable.

Tentomon offers more helpful suggestions than "Do something!", specifically encouraging Izzy to apologize to Mimi.

For Izzy, they cut out the line where he expressly calls Mimi bothersome and have him heroically claim that this research is meant to save Digi-World. In the original, all he's said on the matter of his motives is that he wants to understand this world's mysteries.

Everyone comes off a little rosier for these changes except for Palmon; Her new dialogue is a lateral shift.

Fleeing blindly into the labyrinth, Mimi trips over a tree root and falls flat on her face. Tentomon flies in after her, trying to help. But she is inconsolable, screaming that she wants to go home and running deeper inside.

Outside the ruins, Palmon and Koushiro search for them. Realizing they aren't out here, the only alternative is deeper inside. That's a problem, given what Koushiro learned earlier: These ruins are a huge maze. If Mimi and Tentomon went deeper in, they might never come back out.

Mimi calms down offscreen, and she and Tentomon begin to find their way together. The sight of a familiar marking on the wall, however, reveals that they're going in circles.

Back out front, Palmon wants to go in after Mimi, but Koushiro talks her out of it. She'd get lost too.

Though it's a bit more dangerous in the original version.

Koushiro: It looks like there are many traps set up inside this maze. Unless I finish this data analysis, we'll both get lost with them.

Whereas in the dub, he has this to say:

Izzy: We won't [leave them] but this is one super-complicated maze. I've gotta try to get a handle on it! Then maybe I can help get them out.

No mention of the traps; Only that it's complicated.

I like that the original expressly mentions finishing his data analysis, as that directly connects back to what he was saying about this research helping Mimi-san. The story's conspired to put Palmon in a situation where the way to save Mimi is by letting Koushiro complete his work.

Meanwhile, in the maze, a rock falls on Mimi's head because today doesn't suck enough yet.

This provokes her to vent about Koushiro.

Mimi: Owww.... Tentomon: Are you okay, Mimi-han? Mimi: That, and all of this, is Koushiro-kun's fault! Really! The way he ignores people makes me so mad! Tentomon: Well, it's true that Koushiro-han lacks charm, but he's not a bad boy! Mimi: But it's true that in his eyes, I'm not a consideration! Tentomon: When he gets caught up in something, he just doesn't notice anything else! I think he's a really good guy.

Tentomon, I don't think roundabout agreeing with her is the way to convince her that Koushiro's better than she thinks.

The dub keeps the falling rock but uses the vagueness of where it landed on her hat to spare her the impact.

Mimi: Great! Tentomon: Oh, dear! Are you hurt? Mimi: No, I'm fine. I'm getting used to it by now! (angrily muttering) If I'd just gone to cheerleading camp, none of this would have happened! Tentomon: Let's try a systematic approach to this. Maybe if we just keep turning to the left.... Mimi: Why should I listen to you? It's your friend Izzy that got me into this mess in the first place! Tentomon: Wait, don't be too hard on him! Yes, he gets a little wrapped up on his work and doesn't always interact well with others but he's a good boy!

...cheerleading camp for fourth-graders? Is that a thing? I'm not going to google that.

Tentomon's flailing to find a way to defend Koushiro in both versions. His arguments boil down to, "Yes, Koushiro sucks in the ways you describe, but I like him anyway!" I'm glad Koushiro isn't here to hear himself defended this poorly. XD

It's hard for Tentomon because he isn't equipped to win this argument. He agrees with Mimi, so what defenses can be made of Koushiro's choices aren't arguments Tentomon can make. He was saying the same things to Koushiro before Mimi arrived. But he wants to defend Koushiro anyway because that's his Partner. They have an emotional bond.

Speaking of which....

Koushiro finishes his analysis, activating new functionality on his map. Now he has a glowing dot revealing Mimi's precise location within the labyrinth, which he can click on to hear her and Tentomon.

Reasoning that an audio channel should work both ways, he takes out a headset and plugs it in. Calling out to Mimi, Koushiro offers to guide her through the maze. Palmon backs him up, assuring Mimi that he can handle this. Mimi accepts Koushiro's guidance.

As Koushiro guides her through, suddenly a yellow blinking dot appears, slowly approaching Mimi's red dot. Uncertain of what that could be, Koushiro tells Mimi to run.

It takes no time at all for the yellow dot to reveal himself to Mimi.

Kentarumon, an Adult-stage Data-type Digimon. His name is derived from the word "centaur", obviously. The narrator gives us his rundown.

Narrator: Kentarumon. A proud Digimon who is half-man, half-beast. With high pressure air spurting from his back, he can move at the speed of sound.

Kentarumon himself is another voiceless Digimon given dialogue in the dub, which also pronounces his name with a soft C sound instead of a hard K.

Centarumon: Tentomon? It's been such a long time! Tentomon: Oh no! Centarumon! Half-man, half-horse! You really don't want to get on either of his bad sides!

This dub exchange implies a bit of a history; Centarumon recognizes Tentomon on sight, but Tentomon reacts to Centarumon with fear and trepidation before even knowing about his Black Gear.

Fleeing from Kentarumon, Koushiro directs them into a dead end. They don't understand, but when they try to ask him about it, he's gone. We cut back to his laptop and mic lying on the ground, abandoned by Koushiro and Palmon.

Kentarumon approaches, converting his arm into a cyberpunk pulse cannon. He can't call it because he doesn't speak, but this is his signature move: Hunting Cannon.

(Seems like overkill for hunting but, then again, I've seen the wildlife on this island so maybe not.)

Kentarumon misses his first shot, breaking open a chunk of the wall and letting light spill in. Mimi desperately asks Tentomon to evolve, but he can't; Not without Koushiro.

Fortunately, he won't be without Koushiro for long. Leaving the computer behind and taking action, Koushiro and Palmon break down the weak outer wall in the room he sent Mimi too.

And now it's a fight. Palmon evolves into Togemon to protect Mimi from Kentarumon. Tentomon also evolves, but this decision is... questionable.

Room ain't big enough for Kabuterimon. His size increase also ends up pushing Togemon over, nearly killing Koushiro.

Bad choices were made. Fortunately, Kentarumon fixes it by blasting everyone through the wall and sending them outside. Once they're free to move, this fight is over in an instant.

A combination Chiku Chiku Bang-Bang and Mega Blaster hit Kentarumon hard enough to destroy his Black Gear. Easy as pie.

As with most corrupted Digimon, the act of being corrupted messed with Kentarumon's linguistics in the original. Once he wakes up, he's able to speak. He recognizes the Digivice on Mimi's bag and brings the kids back inside the ruins, officially introducing us to the device the kids have had on them for so long.

Kentarumon explains the Digivices to Koushiro and Mimi, though he doesn't have much information to offer beyond vague gesturing at goodness.

It's a holy device that "guides the world towards light while driving out the darkness". We've seen that in action a few times by this point, but it's good to have it finally put into words. These ruins are dedicated to the Digivice, with Kentarumon as their guardian.

He doesn't have time to say any more, because they have a visitor.

Kentarumon demands an explanation for the weird shit Leomon's saying. But Leomon goes straight to work, lunging for the kids and firing off his Juuouken. Kentarumon blocks his shot, refusing to let Leomon attack these children.

Kentarumon: These children hold the holy devices. After protecting these ruins for so long, it is now my duty to also protect these children!

Leomon breaks free from Kentarumon and fires off his Juuouken, but Kentarumon darts away from the shot and returns fire with Hunting Cannon. This exchange lets the dub officially name both of these attacks: Fist of the Beast King and Solar Ray.

Leomon tanks Kentarumon's Hunting Cannon, then returns fire with a point-blank Juuouken to the face. His shot puts Kentarumon down for the count.

Well, that's settled. Nothing left to do but kill the children.

Leomon advances on the kids. Mimi shrieks, raising her purse to hide behind. In the process, activating her Digivice attached to the purse strap and shining its purifying light on Leomon.

Seeing Leomon falter, Koushiro understands. He grabs his Digivice and encourages Mimi, and together they drive Leomon away.

"Bad kitty! Out! Go on, out!" ~Dub Mimi, in what may be the best line of the episode.

Leomon retreats, allowing the kids to regroup with Kentarumon.

Mimi: Did he run away? I guess we're saved. Koushiro: Is this the power of the holy device? Mimi: Who cares about that? I'm hungry.

Koushiro's awed by the power of the Digivice, but Mimi's still as hangry as she was when she entered the labyrinth.

Dub Mimi's more excited about all this.

Mimi: Well, that got rid of him! These things really are kind of amazing! Izzy: A preserver of light against the darkness.... Mimi: Can you order a pizza with it? I'm still starving.

How mad do you think these kids would be if it turned out their Digivices could summon pizza this entire time? I'd be furious.

With Leomon driven off, the kids turn their attention to the Black Gear out front.

Koushiro asks Kentarumon to stop the Black Gear, but he refuses. The evil power inside the Gear is too much for him. This leaves Koushiro with no choice but to return to his computer.

Mimi: Even after I said I was hungry, he's still doing this. Koushiro: As I thought, I'll have to analyze this data with the data from these other characters. I'm sure I'll find a hint in here. Mimi: Bah! We'll be waiting 10 billion and 10 thousand years for that to be deciphered! Koushiro: But-- Mimi: (storms over to the Gear) This Gear can't even fill my stomach!

We are right back where we started. Koushiro dives back into his computer, setting off Mimi again.

The irony is not lost on Dub Mimi.

Mimi: Are you still going on about that? We need to start looking for something to eat! Izzy: Guess I'll just have to keep deciphering and analyzing these two sets of hieroglyphs. I'm sure all the answers are in here somewhere. Mimi: Excuse me!? Isn't this where I came in!? You're not seriously starting all that again, not right now! Izzy: Just a nano! Mimi: (storms over to the Gear) This Black Gear! Who cares about that dumb old thing!? All I want is lunch!

Mimi's furious punt wins the day. While Koushiro had been approaching this analytically, Mimi lashing out and taking direct action does the trick. The Black Gear kicks into reverse, sending the shard back towards Infinity Mountain.

Mimi and Koushiro go outside to see the effects for themselves. There, the practical evidence convinces Koushiro of the wisdom in what the others have been expressing to him.

Koushiro: The island is moving backwards! I see! Just like you said, Mimi-san, there are many things I should try out physically! Mimi: I'M HUNGRY!!!

I wonder how different this episode would be if that banana bunch had actually contained any bananas in it.

I don't know if they did it on purpose or not but the dub's version of this sounds a little condescending.

Izzy: Look! The process has reversed itself. Excellent work, Mimi; It just goes to show you that sometimes the simplest solution is actually the best. Mimi: That's not much of a compliment.

It's not much of a concession either. Koushiro's vindication from their argument came when his data was useful in rescuing Mimi from the labyrinth. This moment is supposed to be Mimi's vindication, with Koushiro acknowledging the merit in getting up and doing things rather than simply analyzing.

But the way Izzy says it doesn't make it sound like he learned anything from this, but rather that he's simply acknowledging Mimi for a task completed. He's imparting the lesson on a non-specific "you" rather than claiming ownership of it.

With the two island shards now drifting apart, with close on one last attempt by Scumon, who's been waiting this whole time for Mimi to return. He calls out to her, asking one last time for a romantic date, and we clone on Mimi shooting him another akanbe.

Assessment: Like the previous episode did for Taichi's boldness and Yamato's selflessness, this episode shines a light on the darkness buried in Koushiro's curiosity and Mimi's sincerity. The two characters have diametrically opposed ways of experiencing and engaging with the world around them, and so their collision hurts them both.

But we also see those characteristics shine through in the end, as the episode builds them both up to a triumphant vindication. Ending on the implicit statement that neither Mimi nor Koushiro is wrong for how they are, but rather that they could stand to learn a few things from one another.

Mimi could stand to be more thoughtful in the choices that she makes, and Koushiro could stand to jump off a cliff because he made my kid cry be more active in his approach to problem-solving. The data he uncovered was vital in saving Mimi's life from the labyrinth but also the Black Gear he'd been contemplating was trivially easy to reverse as soon as anyone bothered to try.

For the dub, this is one of the stronger localizations. A lot of their jokes landed. While their take on these scenes was weaker in some places, they added a lot to others. It's not perfect; As with Tai last episode, they sand off some of Izzy and Mimi's rough edges. But I think it's the best dub we've gotten thus far.

🛏️ What does your OC’s bed look like? What would they like their bed to look like?

MINAH — currently her bed mostly looks like a pallet laid out on the floor or a cot or a barracks somewhere around western thedas. she's got the bedroll (fairly recently restuffed I think) and a few blankets—from the troupe, from the wardens, and I think she miiiiight have "borrowed" one from the Leroux household in Serault (look, it's winter, she's cold). She'd like her bed to be an actual mattress in a private bedroom with actual pillows and an actual comforter and freshly-washed sheets and maybe a bed warmer (either of the "hot water bottle" or "fun nighttime friend" variety, depending on her mood)

BRAN — has a big cozy inset berth in her cabin that's honestly more nest than bed—loads of pillows and blankets, pretty much never neatly made. it's truly her perfect idea of a bed and she loves it. it can be a bit tricky when the seas are extra rough, but usually if the sailing is bad she's up on deck anyway.

DAI — at his dad's house he's got a very simple bed a little on the narrow side (it's a bit of a squeeze with zaref) with many many blankets because the mountains get Cold. in selto he's got the opportunity to set things up exactly how he wants, so he has a bigger bed (better for sharing) with fewer blankets but of far better quality—izzy turned him onto high thread count sheets and now he can never go back :( (he probably steals a throw or something from back home when he settles in selto as his home base — nice to have a little piece of home with him)

🎮 If your OC lives or would live in the modern world, would they like video games? What would be their favorite game?

MINAH — ok well I was going to say she'd enjoy a casual mobile game and that's it, except then I was overtaken by the vision of minah hunched over a controller and swearing over mic at some mindless multiplayer shooter so I think I have to say she's like, an overwatch girlie. I don't think that she'd enjoy single-player campaigns very much and she wouldn't have the patience for steep learning curves of anything technical but she'd enjoy a multiplayer. she'd rather play a tabletop, though (easier to palm the pieces when nobody's looking)

BRAN — I think bran would enjoy a single-player rpg every now and then because she loves to live out big and impossible stories, but she doesn't always have the patience for finishing them (she should play uncharted. bran would love uncharted.)

DAI — dai would definitely game. he'd enjoy intense stuff that requires a lot of focus and strategy and ambient worldbuilding; he likes having a concrete problem to solve and things to uncover and I think gaming would really scratch that itch for him. I feel like he'd get really into the soulsborne games? or simulation/strategy games maybe

🌳 Would your OC survive for a week on their own in the wilderness?

MINAH — it depends on if she can prepare in advance or if it's sort of a naked and afraid situation. if she could prep food/water/etc. she'd be fine; if it's more of a hunting and foraging situation she could make it but it wouldn't be pretty. she's got crazy survival drive but she's really not made for roughing it, at least not solo. she's a city rogue, y'know?

BRAN — depends on the wilderness, but unless it's some richly vegetated tropical island with fresh groundwater I'd say no. she's made for cities and trading and being able to buy provisions and having other people around

DAI — as a level 20 demigod, yeah no problem. without magic he'd find it tricky but I think his soldier training probably included a survival course so he's got the basic skills (plus a +6 to survival) so he could make it work

🎭 What is the one thing your OC regrets most? Would they undo it, considering how their life turned out?

MINAH — oh god where to start. top 10 questions to haunt her when she can't sleep. she wishes she could have stopped it. she wishes she'd known. her biggest regret is leaving, but there was no way she could have stayed. there was no choice. she had to go. she had to.

BRAN — leaving ellis alone in that big house with the burden of the family name and obligation. sometimes she wishes she'd taken him with her, but on the run and on the water is no place for a child, and she'd been barely more than a child herself. she still regrets it, though

DAI — the hurt he put his friends through when he sacrificed himself to close the portal to the Abyss. wouldn't change it and stands by the decision. but he'd have spared them the grief if he could.

like is his favorite fruit an orange because it’s good on vitamins and accessible in the atlantic tropics so it’s just so pragmatic? or is it something like dragonfruit that he had one time at a port with edward and they didn’t even really know what they were stealing at the time but when they split it open it was the most magical looking fruit they’d ever seen and it was juicy and tasted like something from a different world and it’s been his favorite since?

is his favorite color black because it looks the most intimidating and it’s not too bright on the eyes? is it the same shade of green on the ring around his cravat, because of said ring around his cravat? is it dark grey blue like the shade of the deepest points of the ocean? is it the same shade of brown as edward’s eyes?

is his favorite drink black coffee because it’s caffeinated and gets the job well and done without sugar or cream or anything frivolous? or is it something like this one rum edward stole on a raid once and it was really strong and not great as far as anything goes but great as far as rum goes and that night izzy got more drunk than he’d been in years but it was so special to be so close and open and uninhibited with ed?

is his favorite animal a cat because they mind their business and catch rodents and they can be cuddly but mostly they’re low maintenance? is it a snake because he saw one once when he was a child in his garden and he watched it eat a rat live and then when he once told edward that he likes snakes it was only a month before ed’s next tattoo, a huge snake down his arm that only solidified izzy’s preference? is it something like a seagull because they typically can’t get as far from land as something like an albatross, so they’re better for navigation and telling where you are in relation to land? or is it the albatross, something that was only ever mildly interesting to him as far as animals go, hardly worth noticing, but one time edward saw one and said “oh, look, mate— an albatross!” and izzy said “so?” and ed shrugged and said “i dunno. they’re pretty cool. got the biggest wingspan of any bird, y’know? that one there could get around the whole world in, like, 50 days” and izzy said “50? you think so?” and ed said “those fuckers are big and fast, mate” very conclusively because he personally thinks they’re so neat and then from that day forward the seagull lived in the albatross’ huge shadow in izzy’s mind?

yeah. does he value the aesthetic and pragmatism of things vs the relationship with edward in others? i’m sure he does. these are my late night thoughts. feel free to share your own i’d love to hear them

I've never seen him on TV, so where could I have possibly seen him before?

I exit the mansion to find Launchpad loading up the Jeep just outside the mansion, struggling to get an inflatable raft inside. The second he gets it squeezed in there and shuts the back door, it inflates and cracks the glass window.

Webby exclaims, "Next stop, Monacrow!"

Huey adds, "Home to EXCESS, the EXtreme Consumer Electronics and Science Symposium."

I add, "Ooh, I can't wait to meet Duckbill Nye! He hasn't made a public appearance in years, but he's rumored to show up this time! How 'bout you, Hue?"

Huey excitedly responds, "Experimental race cars!"

Webby adds, "Lasers!"

Launchpad asks, "Aeroplanes?"

Dewey says, "You bet, old friend."

Uncle Scrooge adds, "And Monacrow is said to be the final racing place of the elusive Maltese MacGuffin. Lost during Netherworld War II, this ephemeral heirloom is so rare that no one has ever laid eyes upon it."

Huey says, "Whoa. So what is it, exactly?"

Uncle Scrooge exclaims, "The stuff dreams are made of!"

Huey asks, "No, but is it, like, a statue, or..."

I add, "How do you even know it's real if nobody's ever seen it?"

Uncle Scrooge responds, "A true adventurer just knows. It's a feeling deep down in your gut, telling you you're onto something incredible!"

I ask, "So... We're going on this trip based on a gut feeling?"

Uncle Scrooge rolls his eyes and returns to looking at the map, looking up at the sight of Uncle Donald holding planks of wood and sneakily slides away from him. Ugh, I wish they weren't still so awkward around each other, and I wish my injury wasn't the catalyst for it getting worse.

Huey grabs Uncle Donald's arm and stops him, saying, "Come on, Uncle Donald. You can fix the houseboat when we get back."

I add, "Yeah! I think you'll have fun on this one. Please come with us."

Uncle Donald shakes his head, saying, "Uh uh, I'm almost done. We'll be on the water again in two days!" I hear a crash coming from the houseboat and Uncle Donald corrects, "Seven days." The houseboat explodes and catches on fire, and he sighs, saying, "I should get started."

He walks off, and Dewey calls after him, "No rush!"

Mrs. Beakley exits the mansion and sets down a large duffel bag next to the Jeep, and Webby excitedly asks, "Granny! You're coming, too?"

Mrs. Beakley explains while putting on tropical sunglasses, "I have 987 vacation days saved up, and Monacrow's Blackwater Beaches are legendary. It's high time I wildes out with some maxing and relaxing, hm?"

Webby smiles wide, saying, "I have the coolest grandma."

Dewey says, "Sure. Now, who's ready for the-"

Huey, Dewey, Webby, and I sing, "Best road trip ever!"

Uncle Scrooge joins in slightly late at off-key, and Huey tells him, "Oh, you'll get it."

Uncle Scrooge and Mrs. Beakley talk to each other, and Louie calls me, Huey, Dewey, and Webby over, "Psst! Psst, hey!"

Dewey whispers, "Did ya get it?"

Louie pats the duffel bag he's carrying, and I quietly ask, "What did you all find?"

Before he could respond, Uncle Scrooge exclaims, "Come on, kids! To our greatest adventure yet!"

My brothers, Webby, Launchpad, and I cheer, "Woo! To adventure!"

I whisper to Webby and my brothers, "And finally getting answers."

We all get inside the Jeep and Launchpad drives it into the plane. Well, that was kinda anticlimactic. While Launchpad shows a reluctant Mrs. Beakley around the plane and Uncle Scrooge flies it, my brothers and Webby and I huddle inside a large box where Louie drops the duffel bag.

I ask again, "What'd you find?"

Louie explains, "I sweet-talked Quackfaster down at Scrooge's secret archives. That lady is nuts! And I got her to give us this."

He dumps the duffel bag onto a smaller box we're using as a makeshift table, and Huey grabs some pieces of a torn photograph, saying, "Start at the corners and work inward."

Webby hugs a piece, saying, "No, Huey. Each mysterious piece holds a secret. Listen closely and they'll tell you where they go."

Huey grabs the piece from Webby and places it with the others, saying, "It goes there."

I add, "Yeah, Webby. The best way to solve any puzzle is to get a solid foundation by making the border and then filling it in.

Dewey asks, "Okay, so what do we got?"

Louie explains, "The documents shredded on the week we were born. According to the note we found in Castle McDuck, that date is connected to-"

Webby interrupts him, adding, "The Spear of Selene, the mysterious unknown thing your mom took from Scrooge."

I add, "The thing that took her from us and wrecked our family."

Huey adds, "Somewhere in the pieces are the answers Scrooge doesn't want us to find. What is the Spear of Selene? Why didn't Scrooge and Donald talk for years?"

Dewey adds, more somber, "What happened to our mom?" He takes a determined stance, exclaiming as Huey places the last piece we could find with the others, "Nothing can stop us n-"

I say, "But there's a huge chunk missing from the picture."

Dewey groans, "Oh, come on! Where's the last piece? It's gotta be here somewhere!"

Webby gasps, pointing at the opening of the large box, "There!"

Dewey says, determined again, "Aha! Nothing can stop us-"

Huey exclaims, "Get the thing, get the thing!"

Louie says at the same time, "Stop milking the moment!"

Webby adds at the same time, "Get the thing and the moment!"

I add, "Just go already!"

Right before Dewey could grab the photo piece, the plane stops abruptly, and I fall forward, catching myself on the box's wall, nearly knocking it over.

Dewey asks, "Where'd it go?!"

Mrs. Beakley asks, "What just happened? Where are the children?"

Huey whispers frantically, "Quick! If they find out we're researching his darkest secret, Scrooge'll shut down our investigation for good!"

We all nod at each other, making sure the coast is clear before sneaking out of the box and over to Mrs. Beakley, trying to act inconspicuous by whistling nonchalantly.

Mrs. Beakley asks, "Are you children alright?"

I say, trying to not let my voice waver, "Yup! Totally fine. Nothing to worry about here."

Webby adds nervously, "Inconspicuous whistling. Just a casual whistle."

Uncle Scrooge exclaims, "Ach, you anti-aeronautical patchwork contraption! Will ye fly already?!"

Mrs. Beakley scolds him, "McDuck! I leave you alone for two minutes, and you crash the plane!"

Launchpad asks, "If we crashed, then why are we still in the air?"

We all gasp, looking out the window at the clear skies around us, and we realize we're stuck on the very top of a very pointed mountaintop.

Mrs. Beakley exclaims, "Of all the irresponsible-"

Launchpad adds, "Not even a real crash!"

Uncle Scrooge says nonchalantly, "Ach, quit your havering. It's just a teeny 10,000 meter speed bump. I'll have us safely on the trail of the Maltese MacGuffin or my name isn't Scrooge Mc- Wah!"

The plane starts spinning around in circles until Mrs. Beakley turns it off, saying frustratedly, "And you've blown out an engine."

Uncle Scrooge brushes it off, saying, "Ach, that happens all the time! Right, Launchpad?"

Launchpad responds, "Yes, but usually I crash, like, two seconds later."

Mrs. Beakley says, "We have to get out and figure out how we get down."

Uncle Scrooge asks, "And pass up the adventure of a lifetime?!"

Mrs. Beakley exclaims, "And risk all our lives?!"

Uncle Scrooge scoffs, saying, "Ach, you're safe as houses. This is nothing! The plane could be on fire! Or we could be on fire! Or this could be a volcano! Everything could be on fire!"

Mrs. Beakley exclaims, "This is a blatant breech of training protocol and just basic safety precautions! Is this what you're doing when you take the family on 'road trips'? Is this how Izzy got hurt?"

Uncle Scrooge rolls his eyes, saying, "Ah, you're overreacting!"

They start arguing more, and Launchpad says over the loudspeaker, "We seems to have hit some... um... turbulence in the cockpit here. Everything's fine. Please enjoy our inflight entertainment."

He lowers a TV held up by rope, and starts playing a Darkwing Duck episode.

Huey asks, "Now what?"

Dewey points at the piece, which is caught on the Jeep, exclaiming, "Now that!"

Webby says, "We've got to get that piece without anyone noticing. We'll need some kind of distraction."

I say, "Louie's great at those. Lou, what do we do?"

He groans, "Ugh, fine. Follow my lead."

Launchpad gets set up inside the Jeep, saying, "All set up here, Mr. McD!"

Dewey works on climbing the Jeep slowly, quietly, and carefully without being seen, and Uncle Scrooge says to Mrs. Beakley, "See here, Bentina. I have taken the children on countless adventures, and they have never once had a cause to worry about their safety."

Louie smirks, and the four of us approach, Louie exclaiming dramatically, "Uncle Scrooge! We're worried about our safety!"

Uncle Scrooge nervously says, "N- now, Louie. I have always looked out for you. Why worry now?" He adds, speaking through his teeth, "At such a potentially embarrassing moment for me?"

Louie responds, still being dramatic on purpose, "I'm especially worried about Izzy getting hurt again.

I add, joining Louie's theatrics, "And I can't even look out the window without being reminded how far above the clouds we are! If we fell, who knows how long we'd be falling before it'd all be over?"

Louie adds, "I know we've been in tough spots before, but this one seems really tough!"

Huey adds calmly, "He's right. Given the altitude, the condition of the plane, and the weather patterns, we have a 1 in 17 million chance of surviving."

Louie asks, "Wait, really?! I mean, yeah! Scary!"

Webby adds solemnly, "And usually, there's some kind of curse or villain that you can outwit, but you can't outwit gravity!"

Louie adds, getting genuinely fearful, "Yeah! Y- yeah! Yeah, t-thats right! We're all gonna die!"

I put my arm around him, saying, "Hold on, Louie. You're okay."

He hugs my arm, exclaiming, "Were worried about our safety! We gotta go! Now, now, now!"

Launchpad asks, "Now?"

Dewey and Uncle Scrooge yell I unison, "No!"

Just before Dewey could grab the photo piece, Launchpad starts the Jeep and Dewey falls off, the piece flying away once again as Launchpad crashes the Jeep into the plane.

He says, "Huh. Never crash a Jeep in a plane before. Into a plane, sure, but... Hm?"

The back hatch of the plane starts opening, and the cargo inside starts sliding toward Launchpad.

Uncle Scrooge exclaims, "Launchpad! We need to counterbalance the plane! Everyone to the front!"

Mrs. Beakley groans in frustration,then exclaims to us, "Go, go, go!" My brothers and Webby and I climb the ladders to the cockpit, them going much faster and Webby holding onto my crutch at the top so I don't drop it while climbing.

The large box we're hiding our evidence inside starts sliding, and Mrs. Beakley holds it in place, asking, "What is in here?"

My brothers and Webby and I exclaim in unison, "Nothing!"

Launchpad starts sliding toward the hatch, saying nervously, "Uh, Mr. McD?"

Uncle Scrooge rushes toward him, exclaiming, "Gah! Beakley, secure the hatch!"

Mrs. Beakley growls under her breath before grabbing a switchblade from her hair, stabbing it into the ground in front of our box, the blade holding it in place while she climbs the ladder to hit the button to close the hatch, Launchpad jumping across falling boxes before Uncle Scrooge catches him, the hatch closing right behind them.

Launchpad says, "Thanks, Mr. McD."

Uncle Scrooge says, "Nothing bad will happen when Scrooge McDuck is around."

We all gather in the cockpit, and Mrs. Beakley scolds, "Mr. McDuck!"

Uncle Scrooge adds, "Kids!"

Louie exclaims, "Mrs. Beakley!"

The adults look at him with raised eyebrows, and he says, "Sorry, I thought I could keep the blame circle going."

He nervously laughs before hiding behind me, and Uncle Scrooge scolds us, "Must you blindly gallivant around with no clue what you're doing?!"

Mrs. Beakley pretends to clear her voice and cough to cover her saying, "Irony."

Uncle Scrooge ignores her, continuing, "If you cannae listen, I can't keep ye safe! Except, of course, I can. Because I am Scrooge McDuck, and I am very good and what I do." Dewey slowly reaches toward the photo piece that's sticking out from the co-pilot set, and Uncle Scrooge adds, slamming his cane down, "From here on out, you have to stay put!"

He makes us sit in the seats against the sides of the plane, and Dewey starts bouncing his leg, clearly getting frustrated.

He finally exclaims, "There's the missing piece! We just have to get it!"

Louie ties himself tightly to his chair with as many buckle straps as he can, saying frantically, "Nope! Nuh uh! Nothing is getting me out of this seat!"

Huey asks, "What if the plane catches fire and we have to evacuate?"

Louie pauses, then starts trying to wriggle out of the buckles.

I say to Huey, "Stop making him more anxious, Hue. He's clearly already freaked out, and for good reason. Plus, if we did have to evacuate, where would we go? We're 10,000 meters in the air, hours away from home, and the Jeep is all the way on the ground, probably destroyed beyond recognition!"

Dewey says, "C'mon, that puzzle piece may be our best chance to find out why Della disappeared!"

Webby says, "Maybe."

Dewey asks, "Beg your pardon?"

Webby responds, "It's just... You said that in the Archives, and on Ithaquack, but how can we know for sure?"

Dewey exclaims, "By grabbing the piece! Guys, this is the greatest mystery of our lives!"

Louie adds, "We can't solve it if we're dead!"

Dewey says, "We'll be fine. Scrooge isn't gonna let anything bad happen to us."

He gets up out of his seat and starts moving toward the cockpit, but he only makes it a few feet before Uncle Scrooge snaps at him, "Stop. Moving!"

Dewey sighs and sits back down, saying, "Ugh, see?"

Louie says, "This couldn't get any worse!"

Launchpad lowers the TV again, but it looks much more busted than before as he says over the loudspeaker, "This is your captain. To take your minds off of our potentially grim fate, please enjoy another action-packed Darkwing Duck video!" The credits replay, and he adds, "Huh. The tape player seems to have been damaged in the crash. Enjoy!"

The credits music replays multiple times, and we eventually just start joining in, but after around 10 times, Dewey exclaims, "Ugh, I can't take it anymore! I'm going for it!"

He runs toward the piece, and Huey exclaims as the plane starts tipping forward, "Dewey, no!"

Huey runs in the opposite direction, and the plane corrects itself as he says into his walkie-talkie, "Junior Woodchuck Rule 18; every action has an equal and opposite reaction."

Webby deadpans into her walkie, "I thought that was Newton."

I say, "100%, it was Newton."

Huey asks, "Where do you think he got it from?"

Webby deadpans again, "Science?"

I say into my walkie, "Okay, we can discuss Newton later. Right now, we just need to make sure the plane doesn't fall."

Webby says, "Right. Okay, I'll call out the steps. Got it?"

Dewey says, "Got it."

Louie exclaims, "Nope, bad idea! Terrible idea!"

Dewey says, "For Mom."

Huey gives him a thumbs-up, and Webby says, "Ready... Steady... Dewey left, step, step. Huey right, step, step. Dewey right, Huey left."

Dewey finally gets to the piece and whispers into his walkie, "The truth about Della Duck. Nothing can stop us-"

Webby exclaims, "Look at the stupid paper already!"

The adults turn toward him, Mrs. Beakley asking, "Dewey?"

Uncle Scrooge exclaims, "What the blazes?!" He narrows his eyes, adding, "What've you got there?"

Dewey responds nervously, "Not secrets!"

I exclaim, "Dude, what the heck?!"

Louie adds, "Literally the worst answer you could've given."

Uncle Scrooge reaches his hand out, saying, "Give it here."

He reluctantly complies, but the piece flies away again toward the hatch.

Dewey runs after it, exclaiming, "No!"

Uncle Scrooge chases after him, exclaiming, "Get back here, you'll get yourself killed!"

Mrs. Beakley yells, "Both of you, stop speeding through the plane!" They both stop, and Dewey starts tiptoeing away from Uncle Scrooge, who then starts tiptoeing after him, and Mrs. Beakley groans, muttering, "That is not what I meant, and you know it."

Dewey slides a box between him and his chaser, exclaiming, "Leave me alone!"

Uncle Scrooge slides the box back out of his way, exclaiming, "Come back here this instant!"

Mrs. Beakley points at Huey, Louie, Webby, and me, ordering, "You four, counterbalance the weight!"

We run over to the cockpit as my brother and Uncle get closer to the hatch.

Uncle Scrooge yells, "I'm trying to save your life, now come back here or I will end it, young man!"

Dewey says, "No! So close!"

Uncle Scrooge nearly grabs Dewey's ankle, but the parachute he was tied to is in Launchpad's hands and he can't go any further. He hugs at the rope, making Launchpad drop the parachute bag, and it slams into Dewey and Uncle Scrooge. Our evidence box slides toward them, and they both dive out of the way just before it crashes into the wall, falling apart. Mrs. Beakley gasps, and grabs the Spear of Selene blueprint from Webby's pocket.

She looks at it, and Webby mutters, "Oh, no."

Mrs. Beakley asks solemnly, "Oh, children... What have you been up to?"

The photo piece flies away again, this time out the window and onto the right wing of the plane. Dewey uses the parachute bag to fly up to the cockpit, Uncle Scrooge holding onto his ankle, and he chases the piece out the window and climbs onto the wing.

We all exclaim, "Dewey!"

Uncle Scrooge exclaims, "No! Lad!"

He climbs onto the wing after Dewey, exclaiming, "Lad, give me your hand!" He mutters to himself, "No, not again."

Webby says into her walkie, "Dewey, this is crazy! The mystery is not worth it!"

Louie adds, "I- I get it, but you can't give up the rest of us to find the one person we lost!"

I add, tearing up, "Dewey, I had to watch my family fall apart after Mom disappeared, and we were broken for so long I forgot we were once whole! Now that we're all together again, I don't want to lose it again! Mom is gone and she has been for over a decade, but I can't lose you, too! I can't watch my family fall apart again!"

Launchpad says, obviously not sensing to tension, "Dewey, the Darkwing Duck video is still running! Do you want me to pause it until you get back?"

Huey grabs the walkie from Launchpad, saying, "Give me that. Dewey, our family is amazing! We're enough. Let it go!"

Dewey angrily tosses his walkie to the clouds below, and continues climbing toward the propeller blade, where the piece is caught.

Uncle Scrooge exclaims, "Please, I... I cannae keep you safe, alright? How can I get you to listen to me?!"

Dewey grabs the photo piece and finally looks at it, tearing up as he exclaims, "Tell me about the Spear of Selene!"

Uncle Scrooge tears up also, and the two of them finally make it back into the plane safely. Launchpad uses the few boxes left in the plane to balance it, then makes his way to the cockpit while Uncle Scrooge puts the photo pieces together.

He starts, "It was just before you were hatched, and Izzy was just a wee girl. Your mother, your Uncle Donald, and I had been going on amazing adventures for years, and things were grand! Except... we had been just about everywhere. Ever the aviator, your mother devised a plan to explore the greatest territory of all... outer space!"

My brothers, and Webby, and I gasp as he places the last piece, revealing the whole photo. It was a selfie Uncle Scrooge took in front of the Spear of Selene, Mom climbing up it in a spacesuit and seeming to not be noticed by Uncle Scrooge.

He continues, "Della had already been all over the Earth. She wanted to give you kids the stars. Donald thought it was too risky, especially with the youngins on the way. So, I did the only logical thing. I built the rocket and don't tell Donald. Or anyone. It was meant as a surprise for Della to celebrate her sons' birth, but your mother was always good at sniffing out surprises."

I softly chuckle at that. Yeah, she really was. I remember one time when I was trying to surprise her by baking a cake for her birthday when I was 5, but she found me in the kitchen while I was mixing the batter, making a complete mess of the kitchen counter and the floor. She asked me what I was doing, then when I didn't tell her, she pretended she didn't know and walked away, letting me finish baking. I ended up burning the cake and dropped it on the floor when I tried to take it out of the oven because it was too heavy, but she still ate what she could and told me it was the best cake she'd ever had.

Uncle Scrooge continues, "She found the rocket and decided to go on a little test run in orbit. Neither of us could've predicted that cosmic storm, but we both knew a little bit of pan-galactic precipitation wouldn't stop her! After all, she was Della Duck! Curse me kilts, was that girl stubborn. I tried to talk her through it, thought if anyone could make it, it was her. Until that very last bolt. I couldn't keep her safe. The rocket and your mother were lost to the inky abyss of space. Your Uncle Donald and I never spoke again, until you four showed dup on my doorstep."

My brothers and Webby and I all sniff and tear up, but Dewey seems to be angry.

He wipes away a stray tear before saying, "Cool. So you're the reason our mom is gone."

Uncle Scrooge nervously says, "What? No! I- I-"

Launchpad says quietly, "Um, guys?"

Dewey continues, "You built her a crazy dangerous super rocket!"

Uncle Scrooge retorts, "Which she stole early!"

Huey yells, "Then you encouraged her to keep flying through a cosmic storm?! You could have called dher down. There were too many variables!"

Mrs. Beakley says nervously, "Now, boys. You don't know-"

Louie interrupts her, exclaiming, "And you're the richest duck in the world! Why didn't you send more ships to look for her?"

Uncle Scrooge responds, "I spared no expense!"

Dewey scoffs, saying, "Yeah, right. Cheap old Scrooge probably bailed the second it put a dent in his Money Bin."

Launchpad says again, "Um, guys?"

I add, "And you never told me?! I had to watch my family fall apart, and I never knew why! I never knew if Mom left on her own or if she was killed or anything! Maybe if I had been told, I never would've agreed to move back into the mansion with the man who took my mother away from me!"

Webby says, "Take it easy, guys. He may have a point. Even if gifting an experimental rocket to a mother of four was clearly a terrible idea!"

Uncle Scrooge yells, "This is a family matter you are not family!"

Webby angrily tears up, and Mrs. Beakley scolds, "See here, McDuck. You will not speak to my grandaughter that way."

Uncle Scrooge yells, "You will not speak to me that way! None of you! After everything I do for you, you're all nothing but trouble!"

I yell back, tears blinding my vision, "Is that really all you think family is? Trouble? I can see why Mom wanted to leave you! What I don't understand is why she couldn't have just taken me with her! Maybe then I wouldn't have to listen to you boss us around while not even caring about us!"

Uncle Scrooge recoils, and Launchpad exclaims into the loudspeaker, "Guys! This is your captain speaking! We are falling!"

We all ask, "Wait, what?!"

The plane dips forward and falls down through the clouds, Launchpad tugs the stick up, and we just barely avoid crashing.

He says, "Huh. That was weird." Launchpad rests his elbow on the dash, accidentally flipping a switch that moves the planes forward into a mountain, and he says, "Phew, crashed it."

We eventually make our way back to the mansion, where Uncle Donald is painting the newly fixed-up houseboat.

He asks, "Back so soon? Well, ta-dah! She's all done!" I wipe my eyes, trying to hold back more tears as I sniffle, and Uncle Donald asks, "Uh, what happened to you?"

Dewey says angrily, "We know about the Spear of Selene."

Uncle Donalds says sadly, "Oh."

Louie mutters, "Let's go back to the Marina."

Uncle Donald sighs, and my brothers and I go to our rooms. They feel much smaller than our rooms in the mansion, but I don't care about that anymore. I just want to be away from our so-called 'great' uncle. I lie on my side on my empty bed, my back facing away from the door, and my crutch resting against the wall next to my bed. After a few minutes, Uncle Donald opens my bedroom door.

He asks, "Do you want to talk about it?"

I sniffle, but don't respond. After a short while, Uncle Donald sighs, closing the door quietly and leaving me alone.

Counting the Votes, s2e26

Welcome back to the season 2 finale of Total! Drama! Counting... the Votes! This time we play a fun game of Who Wants to Pick a Millionaire? I find this vote fairly interesting because it is the opposite of all other votes in Total Drama History.

Let's get to counting those votes!

Shown voting: Heather, Gwen, DJ, Lindsay, Owen, Leshawna, Trent, Izzy Escope Explosivo, and Courtney

Not shown voting: Geoff, Bridgette, Justin and Harold

Who voted for who and why: Some contestants told us who they voted for. DJ voted for Beth for being so gentle. Owen voted for Duncan for being such a healthy eater (and because he still feels like one of the guys).

Other contestants didn't tell us who they voted for, but had their votes revealed in show anyway. Lindsay voted for Beth because she likes her and tropical cruises are nice too. Courtney was shown to have voted for Duncan by the ink on her face. Izzy Escope Explosivo voted for herself. And Justin revealed in Beth's ending that he voted for her, so I had to edit this post because I wrote it before the winner was revealed.

Geoff and Bridgette were backstage kissing, so I think they did not vote.

This leaves only: Heather, Gwen, Leshawna, Trent and Harold. With 3 votes for Beth and 2 for Duncan. If Harold voted, he obviously would have voted for Beth because of his rivalry with Duncan, but given the final count, he probably didn't actually vote. And Heather obviously voted for Duncan because of her rivalry with Beth (and because her loss to Beth in badminton was one factor leading up to her elimination). Leshawna and Trent seemed to have been so grossed out by Owen's stink that they were unable to properly vote. This leaves Gwen as the swing vote.

Chris's Final Count: 3 votes for Duncan, 3 for Beth, 1 for Izzy Escope Explosivo, 1 swing vote (different depending on what country you live in and whose ending you saw)

oooh! so strange how they just ended off ofmd at ep 6... i wonder why??? so strange, but i have random hcs on what the kiddos on the revenge would fixate on!! (+ ages too!! :>)

Eddie (ages 1 - 4): squids, dolls and beaches

- squids: oooh, eddie just loves squids!! mostly because mama stede calls him 'little squid', and that he finds them so silly! they just swim in such a strange way? eddie wants to try!! so now he swims like a squiddy XD and he reads lots of books about fishies and squids ;u; (and him and fang and izzy are all just sitting around each other and info dumping about each others favorite sea creatures ;u;)

- dolls: it was one day when he saw a vintage doll sitting on a shelf while the crew was out getting supplies at land. and he got super duper small, like he wanted the dolly. and mama stede ofc saw this and brought it for eddie, and then as a little surprise before bed, boom!! that same doll eddie stared at all that time ago!! now he carries it everywhere whenever he's tiny, and he dresses her into different outfits (that mama stede sewed up for him, because he wanted the same outfits mama stede had for his doll ;u;)

- beaches: oooh! i know he loves those beaches!! just sitting on the soft sand on a hot summers day really gets eddie all fuzzy and small :> (and as a kiwi living in nz, i feel as to say he would love the beaches here :>)

Izzy (ages 0 - 3): dress up, singing and whales

- dress up: oooh, he definitely got this from mama stede. but especially after ep 6, singinf with wee john all dressed up and had all that pretty makeup on, ooh!! now its a normal thing to dress up and wear such sparkly makeup!!

- singing: this is also from ep 6. :> izzy just love love loveeees singing now. with fang's ukelele playing, tiny izzy is just babbling up a storm!!! oooh!! he just loves to sing now and wants everyone to listen ;u;

- whales: i feel from when he carved out that wooden whale and gave it to lucius, he just adores whales (as a past whale fixator, he suits it to me so shhh) and hes always just sitting and reading a book about whales, or staring out at sea, hoping to see one :0

Fang (ages 1 - 5): fishes (mostly starfish and octopus), ukelele and swiming (+ just anything ocean related tbh)

- fishies: oooh!! from ep 5, he just love love loveees fishies and sea creatures!! especially the starfish and octopus. his whole little room is fishy themed!! just spoilt with so many little trinkets and baby stuff that stede gets him ;u;

- ukelele: ooh ooh ooooh!! he has this ukelele that hes had since he was little, its just a wooden uke with little painted fishies and tropical things on it to remind him of the beach ;u;

- swiming: oooh!! swiming so so much fun for fang!! he just adores everything related tk the sea, sitting out on the ship to see the pretty sea, or just splashing in water, but swimming is just his favorite!! and on the beach too!! and then he finds that eddie likes the beach too??? yay!! they can swim together!! :0

Jim (ages 4 - 7): storytime, painting, halloween

- storytime: oooh- jimmy just loves to make up tales, or share their own stories of their past, but with less scary parts of course. but it makes jimmy look like a hero!! and all the other littles seem to enjoy their stories! so much fun!! even if it has a few tiny lies to make it less scary :)

- painting: jim is such a big big creative kiddo!! painting on anything and everything they can get their hands onto!! and archie and olu are so proud of them!! just being so cool and creative??? like woahhhh :0

- halloween: idk why, but kiddo jimmy just gives me massive spooky month vibes (and hey!! perfect timing since its halloween soon!! :0) and they're the ones who tell the crew allll about halloween, info dumping all the fun things they did every single year for the spooky month :) and they always pull out with a party!! always doing cool decorations and paint on everything!!! :0

Lucius (ages 6 - 12): writing (ofc), drama/plays, sewing

- writing: writing is already such a big thing in lucius' life when he's big, so of course it goes down to when he's a kiddo! he writes so many silly stories all the time, also helping when jimmy or izzy come up to him with cool ideas (jimmy with the funky stories, and izzy with random songs he made in his head, which are just babbles XD)

- drama/plays: this goes hand in hand with his writing, but i think he just loves to read about shakespeare and just act out on plays!! and he always makes up plays for the little ones all the time!! (and stede is there to help with the drama part ;u;)

- sewing: he found out about sewing from stede. just watching him sew cool clothes, and make the perfect costume for his plays, ooh! so he learned slowly by himself, remembering steps from watching stede. and then he shows off his cool, frilly shirt he made!! even if it looks a bit wonky, it looks just how stede does it!!! (and him and stede bond over that ;u;)

Zheng (2 - 4): makeup, shiny things, paper dolls

- makeup: oooh, zheng just loves makeup! and she definitely keeps a whole bunch from china like certain blush and lipstick that makes her look perfect. and she ONLY shares her makeup to certain people, like Auntie, eddie and (maybe) izzy. but only if they do her hair in return XD

- shiny things: oooh!! she loves all things shiny :0 jewels, silver, even stone!! shes always out and about, trying to look for things to add to hed collection. and if someone (eddie) grabs the shiny thing before her, shes always like 'hey! thats my shiny thing! i found that first!! gimme! >:(' while she has like 7 other shiny things in her hands XDD (she just gives me big ADHD vibes XD)

- paper dolls: maybe it was because when she was a girl, she always had dolls and paper dolls, she always seems to go into a fuzzy state when having a doll in her hand or sight. she always gives them a personal makeover, makeup and all. and they always look so perfect and pretty :> and when someone (eddie) grabs at the dolls, shes just like 'no!! don touch them, meanie! get away from em!! not yours! >:[' and just fighting back and forth until she just gives up and throws a tantrum XDD

and yeah yeah!! just some silly things :) okay!! bye bye!! :000

The Imaginiers are the characters that I created back during that summer when I was 9. I created each character off of a Crayola Colored Pencil Color. And these fictional characters were there with me, like a family, during that lonely summer. (Not all of the members will be shown on here, because I do not have enough slots to make them all on Gacha Club... The ones that I make are my best friends, or the ones I hang out with the most, when I was 9 will be the ones you'll see here, in Gacha, but you might see all the others in drawings, that I will post like a comic/book on my Quotev account.
