New Trolls Zine Interest Check

In light of finding put that there was a Trolls zine (I think about Broppy specifically?) circulating on Twitter/X, I’m beginning preparations for a new zine focused on folks here on Tumblr. I was disappointed to find out about it after their applications were closed and I wasn’t able to participate and I know I’m not alone. If you are in any way interested to see this zine get off the ground, please reblog so others don’t find out too late like I did!

I don’t have a name picked out yet but the theme I’m proposing is: relationships (i.e. family, friends, romance, even pets). I wanted a theme that could allow for characters and dynamics more than just romantic ships and would set it apart from the Broppy-centric zine currently running (but also could still include some Broppy, as its a main ship).

I am also looking for anyone interested in joining solely as a moderator, about 2-3 people preferably. As this is my first time running a zine, anybody with experience running a zine and/or working with the digital files would be a great help! You can mark on the survey that you’d like to be a mod or message me. If there is also enough interest from fanfic authors, we will need beta readers to apply later to help with editing.

I return from my writing silence cause I've been working on the @sing-it-togetherzine!!!

Everyones been working super hard to make some amazing pieces, so make sure to read the final zine when its out! For now, there is a small preview of my piece underneath the banner below ↓

Poppy let the bristles slide through the edge of her bangs and finally placed the wooden hairbrush back in her hair stash. She admired herself in the mirror, tilting against the light to watch the sparkles on her outfit shine.

Roller skates? Packed.

Hair? Perfect. 

Jumpsuit? Matching!

This was going to be such a fun girls night!

The neon lights of the arcade’s exterior were glowing slightly as dusk began to set in. A good sign for where to land. As soon as the flyer bug was solidly stopped on the ground, she began to scour the area for her friend.

A gasp escaped Poppy’s mouth when she spotted her.

“Bridget!”

Bridget turned and gasped as well. As they ran towards each other, their happy squeals joined together to the pain of every nearby bergens ears.

“It’s so good to see you!” They squealed in unison.

First Impressions

New art huh????? Just a preview of my cover art for @sing-it-togetherzine :) I cannot wait for you guys to see this zine it's beautiful!

My piece in the @sing-it-togetherzine! At first I wanted to make a classic comic but the whole scrapbook theme was too tempting so I switched to making an illustration of an opened spread in a family memory book/scrapbook—a collage of photos, magazine clippings and written messages that you have to look through to piece together the story I originally wanted to tell. I tried to make it as coherent as possible though, so no worries. 😅

I focused on what got me so invested in the last film and then in the trolls fandom in the first place, and of course it's the whole brozone family backstory/drama plus the worldbuilding in general. So I wanted to show a lighthearted moment from the brothers' youth back at the troll tree:

I imagine a society that puts so much importance on singing and celebration would probably make a big deal out of kids' voices changing into their adult voices during puberty. In this case poor Clay has the embarrassing experience of having his voice completely mature in one quick dramatic voice break on stage while the brothers are performing their big number. The guy is completely mortified while everyone else is just celebrating and happy for him. 🥳🥳😳🥳

Here's my piece for the @sing-it-togetherzine ! I had a lot of fun putting this together and I got to draw my two favorite trolls. The theme of the zine was relationships so I had to draw the eldest and the youngest naturally. I tried to pick flowers to symbolize their relationship and ones that reflect their similarities. Hopefully I didn't get anything wrong lol

Sunflowers- happiness, positivity and strength, loyalty

Monstera- transformation, growth, also seen as a symbol of strength and resilience

Forget-me-nots- Remembrance, sometimes used to remember the dead

Aloe Vera- grief, healing grief, sorrow

Lotus Flower- resilience, rebirth, and overcoming adversity

Gardenia- protection, hope, new beginnings, harmony, self-reflection

Purple Hyacinth- deep regret and sorrow, used to ask for forgiveness

Yellow Tulip- hope and new beginnings, happiness

White Tulip- associated with new beginnings
