I genuinely think that Clay had an experience where he felt alienated and "weird" growing up because he lived in a society centered around happiness and joy and he saw the beauty and art in tragedy, the way it stimulates your soul and emotions and captivates you in a very morbid way. How it highlights the good for some people and shows works of love and devotion as important even if they end in tragedy, which is very valuable to a kid living in a situation where people die en masse once a year. He probably didn't realize that there were other trolls who liked the same things until he was older and instead played with his dolls and put them in tragic fucked up situations as a way to explore big feelings in a small body but did it without giving them voices out loud so no one would know what he was doing, y'hear?

Pargi the meek is an unusually thin and nervous troll from the game Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. DCSS is a free open source rougelike game that has been constantly updating since 1997. It's incredible and you should play it.

Anyway, back to Pargi. He is usually found in the sewers and is super weak and apparently lives in the sewers or the higher dungeon floors as a result of being bullied by other trolls.

Now, I would already just let Pargi ruin my run because of how endeared I am to him, but it gets better.

Very VERY rarely, Pargi will show up as Pargit the mighty, an unusually strong troll (I have never seen this.) And this is the in-game flavor text when you inspect Pargit. 👇

So basically Pargit will instantly fuck you up with his insanely strong claws, large rocks that he throws, and his astonishing +27 HP per turn regeneration.

I am sobbing. I love Pargi/Parghit so much. I will be making fan art of Pargi even though not a single soul on Earth loves this stupid, weak, bullied little sewer troll like I do.

I'm a grown ass adult, and something about this little troll has really done it to me. ;; Every dungeon run I do, I simply want to find Pargi. Winning is no longer the goal.

Notwithstanding taking the "Russian trolls had a significant impact on the course of our lives and political discourse" argument at face value

the general argument that we shouldn't let the perfect be the enemy of the good does seem like a sound one. Normally, hearing it would make me feel kind of ashamed to have raged at American politicians who are nominally on the progressive side of things.

How fortunate for me, then, that the last decade has unequivocally demonstrated that "progress in the right direction" just doesn't happen under either political party anymore. To the point where it's obvious that it's the people telling you to keep supporting the Lesser Evil, Harm Reduction option who have ulterior motives.

shame that a lot of tumblr didn't learn their lesson about treating moderate progress as worse than regression from the russian op scandal.

if someone is writing about politics in a way that makes you angry about progress in the right direction because it didn't go far enough? do not fucking trust that person.

why do they want you angry about progress? why aren't they sharing ways to help us progress further, but instead just bemoaning how far we haven't gotten? do not fucking trust people who want you emotionally raw and helping no one.
