i think this is the first clean first draft i've written in my life.

i headlights my zero draft, so this is like a massive accomplishment, but i'm really happy with the thing i made, plus/minus a few retcons, backfills, and things i just wrote to keep writing.

i let myself be talked into nano this year in an effort to keep making new things and not feeling trapped, but i'm legitimately happy with what i'm doing, and it's really exciting to be in a place where i have two original novel length stories in two different stages of the process, and i'm quite happy with both of them.

about 1/5 through the outline, and i'll finish this before i start writing the nano, but i'm really quite pleased.

i couldn't have done this two years ago.

but i feel really hopeful for 2024.

is he a college student. this sounds like college student behavior. this is how i did it when i was in college

fafnir is similarly motivated. dangle a carrot in front of her and she'll push herself to dangerous levels. external motivation works well on her to start with, and she is a very food motivated person

Ferris also isn't fleet but he's sort of like... an independent contractor who works a LOT of fleet jobs and is very frequently working with them.

all i wanted was to languish 100k on thinking about the injustices we've done to daughters throughout time, and how there's got to be more queer and gender folks in historic european monarchy just based on statistics so where are they, all while ruminating on funerary rites and rebecca levels of seaside aesthetic

and what i wound up with is an extremely terse vaguely-minoan-flavored queer fantasy romance featuring chronic pain, enthusiastic consent, and absolute batshit horror aspects
