i'm working on soap's troll design today, and i got to thinking about hemotyping and text quirks... these are my thoughts for the 141 so far

Im assuming Ghost would be very simple. Questions end in periods. SHOUTING IS JUST CAPS WITH PERIODS. Simple but professional with no other punctuation besides full stops.

ITS PROoBABLY PREDICTABLE OoR SOoMETHING BUT ID GIVE SOoAP ALL CAPS WITH ENDING PUNCTUATIOoN. I FEEL THE DOoUBLE Oo'S GOo WELL WITH HIM. USUALLY EXCLAMATIOoN POoINTS TOOo! QUESTIOoNS? THEY GET QUESTIOoN MARKS. HES GOoT TOo HAVE HIS ACCENT THOoUGH YE KEN? SAVE YE A SEAT LT!

i'd Give Gaz something ever so sliGhtly softer. emphasized words will have Capital Letters. he Gets full punctuation and capital G's, because i said so.

Price Was A Kind Of Hard One To Think Of. I Wanted To Go With This Anyway But I Wasnt Sure. Every Word Capitalized With No Punctuation Except Ending Marks. Not Much Else I Could Think Of But I Will Probably Come Up With Something Better Eventually!

Do you have any thoughts or opinions on the "negging" the new character does, ( both literally the negging they do during the conversation and also that it is the equivelant of pestering to them)?

lots of thoughts... firstly to the fact that "negging" presumably lends some insight into the name of the species we're working with here? given that "trolls" "troll" and "cherubs" "cheer" (/"jeer"). but i don't know where that leads, and the sort of wordplay you can do with the word "negging" is kind of very limited before it goes into dicey territory LOL.

even though we already KNOW the horse aliens are called satyrs, and my suspicions lead me to think that GC is one of the sea dwellers instead - i don't want to be immediately tricked into thinking pink text = rose alien, but grey clawed hands suggest more octopus cat than horse? - all my thoughts are also really horsey? like, "negging" = kind of visually similar to "neighing", phonetically evokes "nickering"; thinking folklorically, along the same lines as "satyrs", there are also european water-horse spirits named in the vein of "nixie" / "nacky" / "nykkr". but that kind of thinking only makes sense if like, the satyrs and sea dwellers are both "negging". which seems unlikely. i donno.

the focus on explosions - combined with other references to magic - leading up to GC's computer exploding further lead me to think of these as Rose-aliens, since blowing up each other's computers was part of her wizard rivalry with Eridan. "buccal mass" is interesting in how ambiguous it is bc you can very easily imagine a big headed horse alien having a "buccal mass", but if we ARE looking at squid-cats, "up to my buccal mass" could be like, "up to my cheek-tentacles"? almost-innuendo. "high hells" instead of "high heaven" also suggests an emo race befitting of Rose's matronage.

i can only assume the slime smeared on GC's computer is the explosive "volatile material" GC is constantly surrounded by. so i guess she's covered in nitroglycerine all the time? i don't know what that means but it's a lot of fun to think about especially given how much i've been posting about slime in homestuck lately and how much beyond canon itself has been evoking cocoons. idk!

Not to poop on anyone's fun, you can headcanon what you want, but I'm not a fan of comparing funk trolls to pets/animals/furries. to me they are equally "human" (if i can use this word) as the other genres, they just look the most different and, well.. funky. And I don't like comparing the other trolls to those animals or furries either, it's like a pet peeve of mine or something...
