still thinking abt a post i saw a few days ago that was an old 2014 destiel post and it was you know all-caps enthusiastic (which is FINE) and it was comparing destiel to other “actual” tv bromances to show that destiel was NOT a bromance but a legit romance (which it WAS i know) but a couple of the example “bromances” were: troy and abed (community). turk and JD (scrubs). shawn and gus (psych). and i was like 🤔 ok…genre and ultimate canon outcomes aside…what ELSE do all three of those “bromances” have in common… 🤔🤔
#when i was younger i thought it was so weird that ppl didn’t ship turk and JD as hard as was clearly possible#and i was like ‘🤔 it couldn’t be because turk is Black…right?’#(this was like. 2003)#but now i absolutely think that was the case#i think there has been some#some improvement here in that there are more ships with POC characters and more shippers for them#(see: sambucky)#but when i was in the hardcore community fandom while it was still airing#no one shipped it#(trobed that is)#(no one being a hyperbole but not a huge one)#it always bothered me but i never said anything because i was a coward. i’m sorry#trobed#shawn x gus#turk x jd#anyway shipper culture has for a long time explicitly ignored characters of color and Black characters in particular!#and it’s getting better but has a long way to come!#btw if castiel and dean ever sang a ‘somewhere out there’ duet to save a rat? this website would explode#and trobed will always have that 💜 thank you for coming to my TED tags#editing to add that i think even within current ships with characters of color those shippers are not immune to being racist themselves!

ok i literally just made a tiktok about this but i'm putting it on here too:
character a (convinced it's easier shutting people out, bottling things up, etc.) allows themselves to get very close to character b (incredibly kind, compassionate, has a smile that outshines the sun), which in turn helps them open up with other people as well
character a tries not to get close to people in this way specifically because there's a history of people they care about leaving BUT against those stats allows themselves to get close with character b anyway
character b ends up getting separated from them
from that point forward, character b haunts the narrative and never really stops
despite other potential romantic prospects* for character a, nothing really sticks
post-split, when character a is happy or having a good time, there's still an unshakable, unspeakable sadness about them
throughout the rest of their time on the show, they're just never the same
ALSO: character b says "i love you" and character a technically doesn't say it back while the intention is still there
i'm losing my mind.
WHAT MAKES IT WORSE IS THAT ITS DOCTOR WHO SPECIFICALLY. because inspector spacetime is supposed to be the communiverse version of doctor who**, and it specifically links troy and abed together. abed understand things and people through tv and he very clearly already views himself as the inspector (the doctor) and troy as the constable (the companion). so (assuming IS and DW function the same way), abed already sees him and troy's relationship through the IS/DW lens of it being doomed from the beginning. not to mention that post-geothermal escapism, there is a shocking lack of reference to inspector spacetime except in 605, so i wonder if maybe watching it or talking about it just hurts a little too much now and not just because it was something they watched together.
*for people saying "troy and abed r literally just friends" 1) this is tumblr. leave me alone. 2) i saw gay so i said gay 3) many people would change their tunes ab this if one of them was a girl
**there are technically dw references in the show (219, 411), which implies that both of them exist in the communiverse. i'm just choosing to ignore it because i don't like thinking about how the hell that works.
yall ever think ab the parallels between post-doomsday ten and post-geothermal escapism abed …

Thinking a lot about the most glorious Halloween special community could ever make, season 2 episode 6 ‘Epidemiology’ lately. Mostly about the trobed scenes. (Spoiler warning ahead lol)
Thinking about the “I love you” “I know” part a whole lot, but also another part that does not get talked about enough
When Troy just escaped, but he goes back inside to try and save everyone by turning down the thermostat. And as he’s being pummeled by the zombies, he fights off his good friends with zero hesitation, until he sees Abed. THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HIM. The way he hesitates before saying “we’re friends”.
I’m genuinely going to go insane over this scene. HE LET ABED BITE HIM. He had zero issue punching and fighting his other good friends, but he couldn’t bring himself to hurt Abed. Abed, who was barely even Abed at this point, because the zombie infection had stripped him from all of his individuality and made him into a shell of a person with only one goal, to bite any uninfected person he could find. Even though he was hardly the same Abed Troy knew and loved, he STILL COULDNT BRING HIMSELF TO HURT HIM, and let him bite him. Im actually going insane over this.
TROY COULDNT BRING HIMSELF TO HURT ABED, EVEN THOUGH ABED WAS BARELY EVEN ABED ANYMORE AND WAS LITERALLY A SHELL OF HIMSELF, AND TROY LET. HIM. BITE. HIM. BECAUSE HE COULDNT BARE TO HURT HIM.
Oh and the fact that they don’t remember ANY OF WHAT HAPPENED keeps me up at night
I think this is one of, if not the only, big rambly post I’ve made on here soooo uhh… enjoy lol. This was very fun to write so there may be more to come.
#community#community tv#abed nadir#troy barnes#trobed#I literally cannot stop thinking about this please help#don’t mind me rambling about my silly little ships lolol

hey so i’m new to the community fandom and i really love trobed. i was wondering what was your trobed centric episode masterlist like? or if it’s possible, is there a way to send me the post? sorry i’m new to tumblr so i’m still learning how this app works. if you see this, thanks :)
hi, welcome! I've found that community tumblr is probably my favorite fandom space I've ever been involved in, and I hope you've had a good experience so far. I totally get the New App Learning Curve thing, I'm historically very shit at learning how to use new apps, even though I'm "young" (20), but I eventually got it and you will too, Trust 👍👍👍
anyway, Yes one of the first things I did on here after joining was make a trobed-centric episode masterlist for someone who was asking lmfao. since it was one of the First things I did there's some formatting and other things I'd do differently now, and I've actually been looking for an excuse to go ahead and get that done, so. here we go.
the trobed-centric episode masterlist (revamped)
1x05: advanced criminal law
plot B
abed takes the "friends mess with each other" rule too far; he creates a whole fake language and spends a lot of money on trying to convince troy that he is an alien
"from now on, abed, friends don't mess with each other"
(this is the first time they do their signature handshake)
1/5 gayness, pretty platonic
1x10: environmental science
plot B
it's the "somewhere out there" episode what more do I need to say
3/5 gayness, something's happening fs
1x11: the politics of human sexuality
plot C
abed keeps beating troy in athletic competitions, making troy feel threatened. he eventually admits that abed is the better athlete and they make up
2/5 gayness, pretty platonic but it has its moments
1x22: the art of discourse
plot C
troy and abed work to complete abed's list of quintessential freshman year of college experiences list
2/5 gayness, they repeatedly put completing the list above looking cool in front of women
1x25: pascal's triangle revisited
plot C
troy is moving out of his dad's house and wants to move in with abed, but abed says no because he's afraid being that close and spending that much time together will result in constant annoyance, and will destroy their friendship
troy realizes that "too much of a good thing can be bad" and instead agrees to move in with pierce
1/5 gayness
2x02: accounting for lawyers
part of plot A
jeff gets sucked back into his old life as he reconnects with alan, a coworker from his old law firm. troy, abed, and annie try to gather proof that jeff's friend is the one who got him fired in the first place
more trobedison centric, and is actually the first episode where the three of them are established as a Trio™
"all I heard was suck" "YOU CHLOROFORMED THE JANITOR" "I usually have one foot out of reality and even I'm freaking out right now"
1/5 gayness, pretty platonic. they're the sillies ever I love trobedison
2x06: epidemiology
part of plot A
it's the zombie episode, come ON
trobed have coordinating costumes but troy bails during the party because he doesn't want to look lame and nerdy in front of women, which hurts abed's feelings
abed sacrifices himself to save troy once they are the last two standing during the "rabies pathogen" breakout
"I love you" "I know" (oh my GODDD sedate me)
5/5 gayness. you get it.
2x09: conspiracy theories and interior design
plot B
the original blanket fort 💯💯💯
2/5 gayness, just guys bein silly (and in love???)
2x15: early 21st century romanticism
plot B
troy and abed fall for the same girl and decide to take her to the valentine's dance together, after which she can decide which one of them she wants to date
she picks troy, but troy gets upset that she didn't pick abed (because why wouldn't she pick abed, he's so cool) and breaks it off almost immediately
I"happy valentine's day" "it is now"
5/5 gayness jesus christ this one is INSANE
2x18: custody law and eastern european diplomacy
plot B
britta likes troy and abed's new friend, lukka, who she finds out is a literal war criminal. she keeps this information from troy and abed because she doesn't want to ruin their friendship with him, but they find out eventually
2/5 gayness they're attached at the hip in this one
2x19: critical film studies
random moments
this episode is more focused on jeff and abed, but there's a lot of classic Troy Gets Jealous™ moments so I decided to include it. plus the end tag is them randomly having dinner together at the fancy restaurant (a date 😔)
basically troy is afraid that jeff is a cooler friend to abed than him
3/5 gayness even though they barely interact, troy is so silly
2x20: competitive wine tasting
part of plot B
I almost didn't include this one, and it's not even on my original list, but whatever
troy pretends to be traumatized, originally to seem less shallow in his acting class, but he keeps it going in order to attract britta. he tells abed about it and abed Does Not Like That At All
"troy. nothing good can come of this"
I wouldn't call abed being jealous a Rare Occurrence but he generally conceals it way better than troy does
2/5 gayness, could be interpreted as abed just worried about relationships forming under false pretense, but to Me he's jealous
2x22: applied anthropology and culinary arts
plot C
pierce buys the rights to troy and abed's handshake (a la Indecent Proposal) which "corrupts" it
"pierce tainted our special handshake with his blood money and now we can't get the magic baaaack :((((("
eventually they do indeed get the magic back
3/5 gayness idk there's something about the way they interact in this one that is inexplicably gay to me lmao
3x01: biology 101
plot C plus random moments
"speaking of figuring things out, me and abed have an announcement" "..." "troy and I are living together :D"
cougartown gets moved to midseason, then cougarton abbey ends after 6 episodes, abed's routine keeps getting thrown off, and troy is just extremely supportive and protective throughout
4/5 gayness troy loves him a lot!!!!!!
3x03: remedial chaos theory
random moments
(I know this ep is listed as 3x04 on streaming services but in canon it takes place here and on the dvds it's listed as 3x03. there's a joke about it in the episode too if you didn't know. anyway)
"troy and abed's new apartment!!!" "bienvenido a la casa chez trobed!" "wanna stay up all night talking in our bunk beds?"
all their pictures on the wall and their matching suits lol
the end tag "evil troy and evil abed" & troy's soft "what's wrong :("
3/5 gayness they're lowkey married your honor
3x05: horror fiction in seven spooky steps
random moments
troy's whole story he tells where they Literally become attached at the hip
"my partner"
troy dancing while abed's humming daybreak
2/5 gayness
3x06: advanced gay
plot B
troy deciding whether he wants to do plumbing or air conditioning and deciding all he really wants to do is watch tv with abed
gay symbolism? gay symbolism? gay symbolism?
4/5 gayness mostly for the conversation at the hawthorne wipes gathering. I could write an essay on just that
3x07: studies in modern movement
plot A
annie moves in with troy and abed. very trobedison centric
"kiss me woodsman troy!"
3/5 gayness once again casually in love they're soulmates your honor
3x09: foosball and nocturnal vigilantism
plot B
annie breaks abed's $200 special edition dark knight dvd set on accident, trobedison shenanigans ensue yippee!!!
"awww is that the grappling hook I got you for christmas???"
3/5 gayness for the same reasons as before
3x10: regional holiday music
part of plot A
literally putting this on here just because of the christmas infiltration rap (and baby boomer santa)
3/5 gayness it's glee club what can you do
3x11: contemporary impressionists
plot A
(once again, I know this episode is listed as 3x12 on streaming services, but in canon it's supposed to chronologically be here, and is listed as 3x11 on the dvds)
the study group helps abed pay off his debts to a celebrity impersonator website by playing characters at a bar mitzvah (after troy scolds them for trying to ground abed in reality)
they have an argument at the end ugh
3/5 gayness troy loves abed a lot and abed doesn't realize that he's doing something wrong
3x12: urban matrimony and the sandwich arts
plot C
(see the above disclaimer about episode order)
troy and abed decide to be normal for shirley's wedding rehearsal
troy and abed being normal 🤝
4/5 gayness they blow off a girl to be weird again
3x13: digital exploration of interior design
plot C
blanket fort: redux (oh god)
vice dean laybourne escalates what started as a minor disagreement in order to drive a wedge between troy and abed. it works
5/5 gayness, if a sitcom doesn't have the two codependent fanonical gays go through an unnecessarily dramatic "break up" then I don’t want it
3x14: pillows and blankets
plot A
🎶troy and abed are in conflict🎶 *cries*
pillow fort vs. blanket fort
they eventually make up but not before they hurt each others' feelings a Lot
5/5 gayness the dramatics jesus christ
3x16: virtual systems analysis
random moments
so this episode is more focused on abed and annie, and troy and abed actually don't Technically interact with each other very much at all, but. you know
abed kinda freaks out when troy and britta go on a date because it "messes with the fabric of the group" (🤨 I know what you are)
troy calls annie to "check on abed" boy you are on a date with a woman
4/5 gayness just from subtext you get it
3x17: basic lupine urology
random moments
troy and abed play detective as they try to figure out who sabotaged the group's biology project
"we can't both do the zinger"
4/5 gayness no explanation
3x19: curriculum unavailable
random moments
the study group is expelled from greendale and abed gets arrested for spying on campus, so he's supposed to have a psychological evaluation
troy is just very protective of him in this episode, plus the flashback clip where he and Annie are comforting him as he's freaking out about daylight savings
"our adventures are VERY manly"
4/5 gayness
3x21: the first chang dynasty
random moments
oof baboof with you two! (all the plumber shenanigans are hilarious)
mostly putting this one on here for the goodbye scene at the end of the episode, though. god
"he said, 'I know you hate when people do this in movies.' sorry I got emotional"
3x22: introduction to finality
plot B
abed "goes crazy" without troy (who's off at a/c repair school)
when troy comes back he prioritizes abed over britta (who he supposedly has romantic feelings for)
"I miss abed so much" "you're afraid you'll go crazy without troy"
4/5 gayness one could say they're a little codependent
4x03: conventions of space and time
plot A
troy gets jealous of (read: goes "psycho girlfriend on") abed's new inspector spacetime superfan friend toby
britta, even as troy's literal girlfriend, calls abed troy's boyfriend and supports troy through the whole thing
"for the first time in my long history of being locked inside things, I knew someone would come" let me just put my head through my wall really quick
5/5 gayness even though troy has a whole gf. that's how gay this episode is
4x11: basic human anatomy
plot A
troy and abed pretend to switch bodies, like in freaky friday, in order to help troy process his feelings about his relationship with britta
5/5 gayness holy SHIT y'all. I could write thousands of words on this episode. it is so hard to justify troy's actions in this one without reading him as a closeted gay person not lying
5x03: basic intergluteal numismatics
random moments
including this one because of how abed comforts troy and pushes him around in a wheelchair for the entire episode
3/5 gayness it's the casual married-ness again smh
5x04: cooperative polygraphy
random moments
this is another one I didn't include on my original list but I decided fuck it
the bit uncovering the actual origin of their patented handshake is so funny "I can't even look at you right now" "then you should know I'm crying"
also just the. look on abed's face when troy agrees to go on the trip at the end. "cool. cool cool cool." "that's a lie" UGHHHHH
4/5 gayness again. so typical
5x05: geothermal escapism
plot A
do I need to say a word
ouch ouch ouch OUCH
5/5 gayness especially the deleted dialogue from the last scene (I've posted it before but lmk if you don't know what I'm talking about. disclaimer it makes me want to launch myself off the empire state building)
alright. there it is folks. I was going to make another subsection of other random iconic trobed moments and cite the episodes they're from but basically every single episode has at least one, so that list would be Way too long to qualify as a supplement to this one lmao. however! if you have a Trobed Moment™ stuck in your head (or any Moment for that matter) and you can't remember which episode it's from feel free to ask me, I'm confident that my internal community database will be able to Remind You. anyway. hope this was helpful. bye

Bill Viola
Video artist who melded the material and the spiritual and applied modern technology to Renaissance subjects
In 1957, on a family holiday, Bill Viola fell in a lake. He was six years old. Sixty years later, Viola, who has died aged 73, recalled the event. “I didn’t hold on to my float when I went into the water, and I went right to the bottom,” he said. “I experienced weightlessness and a profound visual sense that I never forgot. It was like a dream and blue and light, and I thought I was in heaven as it was the most beautiful thing I had seen.” And then … “my uncle pulled me out.”
It seemed an unpromising start to an artistic career. However, in 1977 Viola began a series of five works called The Reflecting Pool. Four years out of university, this was his first multipart artwork, its constituent films occupying their maker for three years. In the title piece, a shirtless man – Viola – emerges from a wood, walks toward a pond, makes as if to jump into it and freezes in mid-air. The pool registers his entry nonetheless, its surface rippling as though disturbed; the flying man fades slowly away; and, after seven long minutes, Viola emerges, dripping, from the water and walks back into the woods. The Reflecting Pool drew on the near-drowning of his six-year-old self. It was also classic Viola, its most notable features – slowness, water, a numinous spirituality – recurring in his work of the next half century.
It was the subaqueous blue glow of the screen of a Sony Portapak video camera, donated to his high school in Flushing, New York, that first attracted Viola to the medium. He was raised in the neighbouring lower-middle-class suburb of Queens. It was not, recalled Viola, a cultured household, but his mother, Wynne (nee Lee) “had some ability and sort of taught me how to draw, so when I was three years old I could do pretty good motorboats”. A year before his near death by drowning, a kindergarten finger-painting of a tornado won public praise from his teacher. It was then, Viola said, that he decided to be an artist.
His father, a Pan Am flight attendant turned service manager, had other ideas. Fearing that an art school education would leave his son unemployable, Viola senior insisted that he study for a liberal arts degree at Syracuse, a respected university in upstate New York. “And in saying that,” Viola would admit, “he saved me.”
As luck would have it, Syracuse, in 1970, was among the first universities to promote experimentation in new media. A fellow student had set up a studio where projects could be made using a video camera. Signing up for it, Viola was instantly converted: “Something in my brain said I’d be doing this all my life,” he remembered. He spent the following summer wiring up the university’s new cable TV system, taking a job as a janitor in its technology centre so that he could spend his nights mastering the newfangled colour video system. In 1972, he made his first artwork, Tape I, a study of his own reflection in a mirror. This, too, would be trademark Viola, bewitched by video’s ability simultaneously to see and be seen, but also by his own image. The I in the work’s title was not a Roman numeral but a personal pronoun.
Tape I and works like it were enough to catch the eye of Maria Gloria Bicocchi, whose pioneering Florence studio, ART/TAPES/22, made videos for Arte Povera artists. When Viola took a job there in 1974, he found himself working alongside such giants as Mario Merz and Jannis Kounellis. By 1977, his own reputation in the small but growing world of video art led to his being invited to show his work at La Trobe University in Melbourne, his acceptance encouraged by the offer of free Pan Am flights from his father.
The invitation had come from La Trobe’s director of culture, Kira Perov. The following year, Perov moved to New York to be with Viola, and they married in 1978. They would stay in the house in Long Beach, California, that they moved into three years later, for the rest of their married lives. In 1980-81, the couple spent 18 months in Japan, Viola simultaneously working as the first artist-in-residence at Sony Corporation’s Atsugi laboratories and studying Zen Buddhism.
This melding of the sacred and technologically profane would mark Viola’s work of the next four decades. Viola listed “eastern and western spiritual traditions including Zen Buddhism, Islamic Sufism and Christian mysticism” as influences on his art, although it was the last of these that was the most apparent. At university, he said, he had “hated” the old masters, and proximity to the greatest of them in Florence had not changed that view. It was only with the death of his mother in 1991 that he began to feel the weight of western art history, and to acknowledge it in his own work.
Having struggled with a creative block since the late 1980s, he found that the grief of his mother’s death freed him. Summoned to her side by his father, Viola filmed first the dying woman and then her body lying in an open coffin. This footage would be used in a 54-minute work called The Passing, and then again the following year in the Nantes Triptych, its three screens concurrently showing a woman giving birth, Viola’s dying mother and, in between them, a man submerged in a tank of water.
The first of Viola and Perov’s two sons had been born in 1988. Nantes Triptych was, or appeared to be, a meditation on birth, death and rebirth through baptism. If the subject was traditional, so too was Viola’s use of the triptych form. His references to the old masters would soon become more direct still. In 1995, Viola was chosen to represent the US at the Venice Biennale. One part of the work, Buried Secrets, that he showed in the American pavilion drew openly on a painting by Jacopo da Pontormo of the visitation of the Virgin Mary to her elderly cousin, Elizabeth.
Not surprisingly in these secular times, Viola’s subject matter was not universally popular. The art world was particularly divided. When his videos were shown among the permanent collection of the National Gallery in London in an exhibition called The Passions in 2003, one outraged critic dubbed Viola “a master of overblown, big-budget, crowd-pleasing, tear-jerking hocus-pocus and religiosity”.
The pairing at the Royal Academy in 2019 of his work with drawings by Michelangelo from the Royal Collection drew the barbed comment from the Guardian critic that “Viola’s art is so much of its own time that it is already dated, dead in the water”.
Predictably, he was more popular with the public at large, a survey at a Viola retrospective at the Grand Palais in Paris showing that visitors had spent an average of two-and-a-half hours at the exhibition. Churchmen, too, were won over by Viola’s work, particularly those of the Church of England. In 1996, the artist was invited to make a video piece, The Messenger, for Durham Cathedral. In 2014, the first part of a two-part commission called Martyrs and Mary was installed at St Paul’s, the second joining it two years later. The project, thanks to ecclesiastical wrangling, had been a decade in the making. “The church works kind of slow,” remarked Viola, mildly. “But then I also work kind of slow.”
That mildness, and the religiosity of his subjects, may have led critics to underestimate the rigour of his work. Like Viola’s art or not, he was a master of it. His appreciation of the promise – and the threat – of technology was profound. Viola chafed against the primitiveness of early video, seeing each development in the medium as an opportunity to be grasped. The close-up portraits of The Passions series, for example, made use of flatscreen technology almost as it was invented.
By contrast, the binary nature of the modern world bothered him. “The age of computers is a very dangerous one because they work on ‘yes or no’, ‘1 or 0’,” Viola mourned. “There’s no maybe, perhaps or both. And I think this is affecting our consciousness.” The dissemination of video as an art form had not been like the spread of oil painting by the Van Eyck brothers 500 years before, he said, video having appeared everywhere and at once. True to these beliefs, Viola saw no contradiction in treating Renaissance subjects, and a Renaissance belief system, with the latest inventions from Sony. “The two are actually very close,” he said. “I see the digital age as the joining of the material and the spiritual into a yet-to-be-determined whole.”
In 2012, Viola was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. His work after this was increasingly made with the help of Perov, a fact that lent a new poignancy to the themes of memory and loss that often ran through it.
Viola is survived by his wife and their sons, Blake and Andrei, and by his siblings, Andrea and Robert .

Headcannon #1 (Trobed shippers and non shippers alike this is up to you how you wanna interpret this)
Troy returns, experienced but not particularly more wise. He apparently has not travelled the world like Pierce wanted him to, realising halfway that perhaps it's no use running around giggling without someone to giggle with, no use searching for his place in the world if it means sacrificing his comfort and tearing away from where he had sunk roots in. In a way, Pierce's boon felt like a bane, and so he made his way back to home, to Greendale, to Abed. His return was an emotional one to most. Annie cried and embraced him, her sobs genuine this time, her clear voice wavering uncharacteristically. Shirley had just flown down to see everyone again, and Troy's appearance was a surprise that delighted her endlessly; the mother hen pecked at him with happy tears welling in her eyes as she enquired about his wellbeing. Britta was gleeful, but her enthusiastic greeting was quelled by a "Shut up Britta!" To be fair, she did just say some absurd things about Troy finally being there to help relieve the burden of being the funny one in the group. Jeff had dashed over once he had heard, but will not affirm it, choosing to step into the group study room with a smirk as he spouted off some cool tagline. Troy fistbumped him, telling him how cool that was, as the nostalgia began to flood his system. However, just one person was missing. Troy looked around, hiding his disappointment as he looked around the blue walls of the study room. Everything was as it was, just slightly different. The table had more scratches, the chairs were slightly different, the Dean was chuckling off to one side, a hand on Jeff's arm that Jeff has not swatted away yet. As he looks to Annie for more details, Annie winks at him and mouths "they're not together that way, but Jeff is.. bi." Troy's eyes widen as his jaw slacks. All that does not change the fact that Troy still was missing someone. Someone he had formed an inseperable bond with, who had yet been torn from him by everyone, from the Air-Con guys to Pierce. He gave up. After all, if Abed wasn't still here after Britta's obnoxious Twitter post, perhaps he did not know, or perhaps he did not care anymore. He decided to say his thank yous to his friends and embark on a journey to see just how much Greendale has been saved from ruin when- "TROY!" "ABED-" A thin frame stood in front of him, dressed in a comfortable long sleeved shirt and a sweater vest, his shoes seemingly new. Brown eyes met black, and an unspoken pattern arose. Four hands rose up in the air, and one of each thudded against each chest, whilst the other connected in the middle twice, a resounding echo each time the two met. The rest could only stare in unbridled wonder as the two continued to stare into each others eyes, appraising the other for any signs of distance. With none, arms wrapped around each other, Abed stood in silence as Troy's eyes finally gave way to the emotions that had been threatening to flood out of him. "I thought you'd have forgotten me." "Never. Not when the Dreamscape is there to remind me of what I had lost every single day." Together, their voice echoed as they sung. "Troy and Abed Back Together~"

please please please PLEASE tell me about the saf community au
I'm SO happy you asked
troy would be curt for the obvious reasons such as being perceived as very strong and good with women and basically all the straight guy stereotypes. but as the show progresses more of Troy's (curts) character comes out, mostly due to his friendship w/ abed(Owen) which opens him up and makes him more himself. and ugghhh the trobed and curtwen parallels !!!! like in the episode "advanced gay" where Troy has to choose between air conditioning school and being with Abed (Curt having to choose between completing the mission and saving Owen). Troy is told "If you choose this life you have to stick with it, you cant know anyone and no one can know you you'll be an airconditioner repairman and nothing else until the day you die" (or smth like that don't quote me-) but the same sentiment applies to curt, being isn't an easy life, he has to make the conscious decision to leave owen behind to complete the mission and contribute to the "greater good" of the agency.
OMG and Troy's line "I have a gift, I'm special" expresses that he thinks this is what he's meant for bc he believes that's the only thing he's good at, so much has gone wrong in life that he wants have something to latch onto and be certain it will stay. The same goes for Curt since he knows he's gay which puts him at an automatic disadvantage in life and when he's offered to join the agency he feels the need to join bc he knows his life would never be normal anyway so he accepts, and is another factor to why he left Owen, because he'd rather continue an "easy" life of shallow comfort than a difficult life with real comfort. (I fear I'm looking too far into this)
And when Troy is talking to Abed about having to pick sides between air conditioning and plumbing he asks him to be Troy bc it's easier for him to talk with himself than to face the confrontation of another person's opinion of him, which seems like a VERY curt mega thing to do. And when Troy does talk with Abed, he just tells him to pick what would make him happier, and he admits that what would make him happiest is being with Abed...
Which leads to my next point, "geothermal escapism"-
(I'm probably gonna make that a separate post mainly about Owen and Abed's parallels in that ep.)
#this was more abt parallels than an au sorry😭#but still ive barely scratched the surface#i could never put my love for community into words#community nbc#troy barnes#abed nadir#spies are forever#saf#agent curt mega#owen carvour#saf au
