i completely agree all the points u said with the not wanting a movie thing. i also just feel like the plot would be kind of boring too. they don't have a lot of options, the main one thats been talked about a lot is "saving troy" but honestly i dont think thats enough (PLUS if that were the case we wouldnt get a lot of trobed content which would suck). ive joked about donald writing the movie but tbh i feel like thats the only way it actually could be actually cool since i do Not Trust dan😭😭

yeah that's more or less how i feel when i say like, the movie would have to be really good to be worth it at this point, and i can't imagine that it would be. i know the saving troy plot is a popular proposal, but if that were the case and it was set today, the premise would be that troy’s been captured by pirates for what, 7 years? not that that’s impossible but that would turn the captured by pirates arc into something way more serious and likely dark than what started off as just a one-off gag. and if they tried to set it back in like, 2015/16 it just wouldn’t fly. unlike when the show aired, the actors actually look their real-life ages now, so the continuity would be all fucked.

and donald is a talented writer and creator, i don’t doubt that i would enjoy a community movie written by him more than i’d enjoy one by dan harmon. but even then, in terms of trobed, i don’t know. like donald (and danny) did an amazing job taking what was more or less a vaguely homophobic-turned-queerbaiting running joke and turning it into something like, wildly emotional and deep and meaningful. that being said, i don’t think either of them were ever playing their characters with the genuine expectation or hope that trobed would be canonized, if that makes sense. like, sort of riding the line of taking trobed seriously (in a romantic sense.) i don’t know, it’s all kinda blurry, but the short version of this is that i really don’t trust that any version of a community movie would let troy and abed be together.

anyway, i am SO sorry, this is probably a much longer answer than you wanted. you brought up some very good points, i tried to organize my responses into something readable, not sure if it worked. but thank you for the asks!! i genuinely really like hearing what other people have to say about this stuff.
