sighs loud that feeling when you withdraw into your thoughts when things get overwhelming to reanalyze things and find comfort before re-entering the present but then you find too much comfort in the conclusions you come to and you start to be unable to tell the difference between your own thoughts and reality so you have to withdraw even further to analyze what is real and what is not and then suddenly you are inadvertently turning a cold shoulder to people because you simply just can’t trust yourself and your own feelings
bonus when you force yourself to behave normally and then you think you’re overindulging in your fantasies again so you have to withdraw yet again and now you just end up seeming so hot and cold even though you are just trying to figure out how to behave and hold yourself back from becoming too much to people
and then you feel a little frustrated that people won’t just give you a solid answer but then you think well isn’t this just how normal connections between people work and you just need to act like a normal person but then you just can’t even trust yourself

just skimming through this it seems a lot like 6, 5, 4, and 3 and maybe 9 or 1 for the gut fix.
i would say this is 5w6, 4w3 (or 3w4), and 9w1. your tritype would be 549.
questions to type yourself (enneagram edition)
how do you set boundaries with the world around you? (do you assert yourself, do you blend in, do you please others, etc etc)
how do you act during stress? (are you more positive, do you stay calm and try to be "objective," do you get emotional, etc etc)
how do you act in anger? do you experience it often?
how do you act in shame? do you experience it often?
how do you act in fear? do you experience it often?
how do you act in relation to others in conflict? (withdraw, go-with-the-flow, upfront, etc)
how do you "get what you want?" (more demanding + straightforward, believe it should be earned, focus on self, etc etc)
what is your coping mechanism? (do you distract yourself, do you try to act more neutral, stay in denial, try to rationalize, etc)

Note
Hey there, again!
Could you tell me the main differences between 649 and 639, please? I am curious, even though I am pretty sure I am the former, with a strong rejection fix and my double 5 overly.
Thank you a lot!
639 is the triangle of the Enneagram, so this tritype embodies the ultimate human condition. Triple adaptative-attachment. There's chamaleonism in this tritype, as there aren't many synergies here: each one of this types has his own "category" in the hornevian and harmonic groups. So, this tritype will have strong self-doubt and problems with individuation and adaptation, because they desire both.
649 has different synergies: 6-9 double attachment, 4 adds a bit of frustration to the equation, which ends up being projected onto others. 94 are withdrawn, 6 is compliant - which makes this tritype a bit more introverted. 6-4 is reactive, while 9 is positive. This makes a pretty sensitive tritype more prone to introspection than the 639, they can have a desire to understand themselves and then understand others (which for example the 549 tritype does not, this is when the 6-9 comes to play and redirects the desire for certainty and understanding towards others as well as the self).

Yeah, now that I’ve seen all of the new episodes, I agree that Ne-Si is more likely.
Se-Ni tends to be more aggressive and “pushy” in energy, even with Ti in the lead. I don’t see that with Nightshade at all.
As for their enneagram type, they’re definitely in the withdrawn triad. I’m guessing either 5w4 or 4w5 with the sp/so instinctual stacking. Tritype is probably triple-withdrawn: 549/459.
They may not stay consistent later, but that’s the energy I’m getting now.
Tumblr media
Yeah, right. More like you are a third wheel.
Nightshade, their project, and then…you.
Sorry, kid.

tritype 945
459
If you are 459 is described as being intuitive, knowledgeable, an accepting. You want to be original, wise and peaceful. Highly self aware and reflective, you are very shy, reserved and self conscious. You need regular quiet time to reflect on your thoughts and emotions. Easily flooded with emotion, it is difficult for you to voice your feelings and ideas to others.
Your life mission is to delve deeply into the mysteries of life and share your insight with others. A true philosopher (also, contemplative), you are happiest when you can write about your discoveries and discuss them with others. Making sense of your world is a never ending quest.
You can be so focused on your inner world that you can become inhibited and appear to be indifferent to others. Insecure, you become moody and expect others to initiate and come toward you.
your growing edge is to recognize that your need to pull away into the private world of your making to ponder your thoughts and feelings keeps you from engaging with others. true contemplation leads to higher knowing that we are all connected in the universal unconscious.
*Most withdrawn/introspective-459, 954, 549
The 416, 459 and 469 all struggle with painful self-consciousness and inhibition.
Both the 451 and 459 are reserved and introspective and self conscious. The 451 is very critical of themselves and others. They are very particular and have a lot of shoulds. They can be strident. Dissatisfaction is visible as their energy can be prickly. The 459 is more reserved and passive. They wait to be included. They are approachable but hope that others will come towards them. They are quiet in their demeanor. They project a sense of stillness. Their energy is soft and yielding. Dissatisfaction is hidden like in the 479.
The 954 is more contemplative and the the 952 will be more focused on others.
9s have a great capacity for depth, they just avoid conflict. Introspective 9s with 5 in the tritype are the intellectual 9s. (9s with 4 are the deep, emotional 9s. The 9 with the 459 tritype is all of the above.
The 459 is the most reclusive type on the Enneagram. They are humble, modest and discreet. They can be ethereal and dreamy They are passive and unassertive. They are shy but usually display a pleasant countenance. They have complex inner worlds. the objective with the subjective. They are gentle, sensitive and avoidant. Since they are so reserved, they express their anger in a passive-aggressive manner.
459 is a triple withdrawn...I imagine 459 to be more removed and cut off as a way of addressing any inner anxiety.
Yeah you would have a difficult time with the triple withdrawn 459, many people do because their withdrawal and withholding feels harsh or very uninvolved. That's the type most likely to not realize their anger until much later, or not express it at all because they get stuck in not expressing themselves and experiencing everything more internally. The 1 in your tritype makes you more likely to exprsss discontent or negativity while the 7 still wants to keep things light and airy. The 459 can have a heavy feeling which can be daunting to someone desiring to keep things positive and productive as your tritype or the 371 might be inclined to do.
A 459 would be pretty comfortable with separateness and solitude. [459]: Differences with 469 comes from the differences between 5 and 6 minds. 5 is like a withdrawn mind working alone to handle situations, life, and understanding, while 6 is more oriented to connections with collectivity and other people with thoughts. It's a receptive/expressive mind, using people as support for understanding and guidance. While 5 is more working alone, with its own maps and ideas.
As for the 4 5 9 part, ..It speaks to me, because it points to the actual awareness of the lack of love and the feeling of separateness for a 9. 5s and 4s are normally described as having the experience most rooted in separateness. Perhaps the distinctions are finer though. 5s representing a feeling of separateness of self, 4 representing separateness of identity, and 9 representing an awareness of separateness from "love" or from the "whole" of the universe.
E4 has the tri fixes 468 and 495 to deal with...where 468 push for a response while 459 move away. For example: 4x5 moves away...stops to....push for the response. 4x3 pushes for the response while moving away.
all three Reflective Solutions Enneacards (Enneagram Types: 4, 5 & 9) in your Enneaspread. Naturally reserved and reflective, you see yourself as intuitive, introspective, perceptive and thoughtful. Responsible and diligent, you resist taking action that is not first well considered and thought out. You dislike making sudden changes and prefer to take time to think things through before acting. When opposed, you tend to take a step back or move away from others to evaluate your circumstances to manage problems.
The 945 is very shy, sensitive and introspective. They need time to contemplate before taking action
594: Accepting and intuitive 5. Most sensitive and withdrawn 5, especially if self-preserving. Tends to be remote.
4-5-9 - The Introvert
A true introvert. The withdrawn likes to delve within them self in order to release their tensions and stress. The more problems that arise in their life the farther the find themselves from the external world.
459 - Knowledgeable and accepting 4. Most withdrawn and introspective 4, often an artisan, especially if self-preserving. Shy.
five with a nine fix: pattern seeking above all. whimsical exploration, disposition of reluctant idealist. open minded, philosophical perspective. can seem to lack focus while associating groupings of information into larger theories. likes people and humanity as a whole, shares ideas and is relatively easy to get along with.
945: Intuitive and knowledgeable 9. Most introspective, withdrawn and reserved 9, especially if self-preserving or introverted [or both].
Another example would be a 4-6-8. Here we have a more aggressive and reactive Type 4 than say a 4-9-5, who would be more withdrawn, passive (9) and avoidant (5).
4-5-9 would rely on their sensations completely. This makes them the most self-focused of the types. Its about what you experience. Like a 9, they tend to avoid things they find uncomfortable (the keyword here is what they find uncomfortable. Not what is generally accepted as uncomfortable). Like a 5, tend to lean towards enrichment. And like a 4, establish their identity towards what they live through. Naturally, what we personally experience in ourselves (our emotions) are a part of what we experience. Since this type is so internally focused, they tend to live the most in their own minds and their own world. Thus, their five-fix tends to gather a lot of information on themselves. Their four-fix and ever changing sensations may make them slightly more likely to feel confused as to who they are. Experiencing this confusion, they may analyze this as a problem and perhaps something that shouldn't be(?). Well, like I said, I'd need to think about it more. But mainly, this fix relies heavily on what they go through and what they live through. Especially on feeling sensations. I'm not really quite sure on what else to say, really 5-4-9: shy, somewhat fragile and a bit romantic, such Fives tend to put on a congenial façade to hide their rich inner worlds from the society. They outwardly appear friendly but reserved, usually mysterious to other people who sense there is more depth and intensity hidden behind their amiable mask. These Fives have rich imaginations and love to immerse themselves in thoughts and fantasies. They are introspective, dreamy, creative and socially withdrawn, but also disorganized and painfully avoidant. typical subtypes: self-preserving, sexual, 5w4 similar tritypes: 5-9-4, 9-5-4, 4-5-9 flavours: insightful, imaginative, enigmatic and unstructured
5-9-4: reclusive, modest, discreet and quite dreamy and unassertive, such Fives possess a vast imagination in which they spend most of their time among their theories, fantasies and vivid memories. They have a somewhat bohemian charm to them – they are relaxed, casual, creative and a bit reckless. Usually pleasant and undisturbed on the outside, they hide complex inner worlds in which reality interweaves with fantasy, real with imaginary, the objective with the subjective. These Fives are gentle, sensitive and avoidant and tend to express their anger in a passive-aggressive manner.
typical subtypes: self-preserving, sexual, 5w4
similar tritypes: 5-4-9, 9-5-4, 4-5-9
flavours: laid-back, unconventional, imaginative and random

Cosima Niehaus (Orphan Black): ENTP
Tumblr media
Dominant Extroverted Intuition [Ne]: Cosima leaps from thought to thought, sometimes forgetting that she’s speaking with people who have no clue what she’s talking about (“Sorry, I got off on a tangent there…). She is gifted at generating possible answers to all of the questions that the clones come up with. She realizes that if the clones are part of a study, then they’re probably being observed by somebody close to them. Cosima is extremely adaptive in new situations (“This is the new normal”). Because Cosima is such an out-of-the-box thinker, she takes to the idea of being a clone much quicker and easier than Alison and Sarah do. Cosima remains open to ideas, keeping them all orbiting inside her brain. She can always come up explanations for things and tends to rapidly throw her thoughts at others. She doesn’t usually totally commit to the suggestions she makes, leaving herself open to spawn new proposals.
Tumblr media
Auxiliary Introverted Thinking [Ti]: Intellectual challenges excite Cosima. She’s energized by discovery and enjoys solving puzzles. Cosima has a brilliant, analytical mind. She doesn’t mind making adjustments to her logical conclusions as she has new insights or gathers new information, and can easily change her theories and opinions in the moment. Cosima is extremely curious and has a lot of questions that she’s constantly pondering and wants to get answers to. Although she is a creative thinker, she’s also very practical. Sometimes, she looks at their situation with a sense of scientific detachment and, even though their predicament is scary, it’s also thrilling from an academic standpoint. Cosima has a good sense of humor and can be very quick-witted. She and Sarah (who share auxiliary Ti), are both able to “keep a sense of humor” about their situation, whereas Alison takes it all much more seriously than they do.
Tumblr media
Tertiary Extroverted Feeling [Fe]: When Alison and Cosima first meet Sarah, Cosima is the one trying to mediate and keep the peace. When she speaks, she knows how to phrase things in a gentle way. She recognizes the importance of being diplomatic and trying to solve problems through discussion. When Sarah tells Cosima that she thinks Paul might be falling for her, Cosima can immediately see the potential (Ne-Fe). “That’s awesome! You can use that!” When Cosima realizes that Paul knows the truth about Sarah, she reminds Sarah that Paul covered for her with his boss and suggests she try communicating with him before doing anything rash. Cosima has an understanding of the importance of using human interaction as a tool (Ti-Fe). “Well, if we’re going to get past our monitors, we have to engage.” She knows how to get people to trust her. For a while after Sarah learns the truth about what she is, she remains reluctant to help. Cosima tends to pose things to her in more of a “we” sense that makes the clones part of a team. She’s good at adjusting her tone, as well as her approach, depending on her audience.
Tumblr media
Inferior Introverted Sensing [Si]: As a scientist, Cosima has a great memory for facts and details, which she sometimes relies on to help form her theories. Research is second nature to Cosima and she’s good at recalling what she learns. Cosima doesn’t spend a lot of time discussing the past, nor does she outwardly appear to be traditional or sentimental. She tends to be less methodical and more scattered – particularly noticeable in the way she speaks when presenting information to others. Cosima isn’t a conformist and doesn’t let society dictate her life. However, she is highly responsible and dutiful when it comes to her obligations to Clone Club and is usually very reliable.
Enneagram: Cosima’s a bit of a mystery to me, but I’m leaning towards 5w4 Sx/So. As for her tritype, my best guess would be 549.
Tumblr media
Quotes:
Sarah: How are we all related? Alison:: We’re not! Cosima: Well, we are, by nature. She’s referring to nurture. Alison:: Just give us the briefcase that you got from the German. Sarah: I’m not giving you shit ’til you give me some answers. Alison:: You don’t rate answers. Cosima: Alison! Alison:: [Alison responds agitated sounding] Fine! She wants in? We’re clones. We’re someone’s experiment and they’re killing us off! Is that helpful? Hmm?
[Sarah remains silent after finding out she could be a clone] Cosima: Sorry. I wanted to float that whole clone thing a lot softer.
[Sarah tells Cosima that Helena wants the names of the other clones] Sarah: Don’t worry. I won’t give you up. Cosima: You know, maybe you should. Not to Helena, but to Olivier. Sarah: What? You were the one who said, if your blind subject suddenly became aware, you’d terminate. Cosima: Right, well, I’m beginning to rethink that. Sarah: Great, she’s got a new hypothesis.
Sarah: Olivier called Paul in hours ago, and he’s not picking up. Cosima: Well, that isn’t out of the ordinary, is it? Sarah: How should I know? There’s nothing normal about any of this, is there? Cosima: Sarah, this is the new normal, okay? So, Paul’s a monitor. He reports to Olivier, his handler, right? As long as Paul is on our side, we can start to finally get some answers. Sarah: That’s my point, Cosima. What if he’s not on our side?
[Sarah tells Cosima to stay away from Delphine] Cosima: Well, if we’re going to get past our monitors, we have to engage.
Cosima: I think that Oliver guy, he runs Paul. It sounds like some kind of double blind. Sarah: What are you going on about? Cosima: They are keeping Paul in the dark too. Right? So that he can’t skew the results either. Sarah: [Sarah loads her pistol] You mean he may not even know he’s watching a clone? Cosima: Yes, right. But Olivier definitely knows. Okay? He’s the one that we need to get to. Sarah: You mind if I get through Paul first?
[Cosima and Sarah discuss the church-related mission of Helena] Cosima: So, the fish reads Christian and, and crafted onto a weapon? A personal crusade. Sarah: Great. Is that it? Cosima: You know, when I’m seeing this branded onto Maggie Chen, I’m thinking that she’s not a lone warrior. To extreme creationist types, we would be abominations. Like, not God’s children, but, but, Satan’s. Sarah: So they hate us and she’s killing us, even though she’s identical to us? Cosima: Well, but if you were a messed-up, abused loner whose faith compelled you to belong and somebody that you trusted told you that this was the way to redeem yourself in the eyes of God, I mean… Sarah: Yeah, I might become an angry angel, too.
[Sarah tells Cosima that Helena thinks her and Sarah have a connection] Cosima: So, the woman Beth shot and Helena are connected. Holy watershed. Okay, Beth probably shot Maggie Chen on purpose. She never told us anything about this.
Cosima: If she’s not dead, we need to find her, find out what she knows. Felix: Are you mad? She’s a homicidal maniac. Cosima: Yeah, but we need to find out who she is, Sarah. She’s… She’s… She found us. She’s got answers. Sarah: The only way I’m going to do that is go back to being a cop.
Cosima: So Beth used facial-recognition software to find driver’s licenses in North America. Two matches. Sarah: You and soccer bitch. Cosima: Yeah, right. But who is the original? Who’s created us? Who’s killing us? We need to know, but, we lost our cop, so, however you manage to get into her shoes, we really need you to stay there. Sarah: Stay a cop to help you? Cosima: To help us. Help us find out who’s killing us.
[Cosima tells Sarah that she might have a monitor dilemma] Cosima: I may have a monitor dilemma of my own. Um, I’m new here this semester. I didn’t bring anybody with me, but, uh, someone wants to be friends. Sarah: Just stay away from them, Cos. Stick to the science, yeah? Cosima: ‘Stick to the science?’ What am I, the geek monkey, now?
Sarah: I’m going to shoot Paul’s balls off. Cosima: Wait, just, um, just squeeze them, ok? He’s our way into this whole thing.
[Sarah sees her and Cosima in the mirror together behind the bar] Cosima: Don’t worry, you get used to it. Sarah: To clones? Yeah, I’m not buying that. Cosima: How many of us do you have to meet, Sarah?
Sarah: Just answer me one thing… Cosima: Anything, yes. Sarah: If we’re genetically identical, do you get that little patch of dry skin between your eyebrows? Cosima: [Cosima laughs] That’s good. Try to keep your sense of humor. Beth couldn’t.
Delphine:: It’s Dr. Leekie. Should we invite him? Cosima: You’re single now. Delphine:: Oh, no, no, no. He’s too old. Cosima: But his mind is sexy.
Cosima: I just want to make, like, crazy science with you.
Cosima: We’re gonna to do an experiment. I want you to try to push your favorite pencil through this paper. [she holds a piece of paper loosely] Cosima: OK see if you can do it. [Kira tries and fails] Cosima: Oops. How come that didn’t work, I wonder? ‘Cause, you know what? You need more… force. OK? [ask she explains, several brief cuts to Cosima and Scott building a device in their lab] Cosima: So force equals mass… times… acceleration. How can we get the pencil through this paper, do you think? Kira: We need to make it sharper? Cosima: That’s a really good idea. High five for that. What about trying speed? What about acceleration? Maybe give that a shot? [Kira pushes the pencil quickly and pierces the paper] Cosima: Nice one!
Delphine:: Cosima, it’s your life. Cosima: It’s not just that. It’s all of us. You have to love all of us. Delphine:: Then I love all of you. Cosima: Good. Because if you betray us again, I have enough dirt on you to destroy your career. And I love you, too.

Note
hello!
im infj 5w4, however, I'm having a bit of trouble finding out my tritype (instinctual subtypes, as well).
can you please tell me how 541, 549 and 548 will differ for an infj? and possibly shed some insight on the subtypes too?
thank you nonetheless x
-t
INFJ 5w4 or 4w5 - how to determine your tritype
of course! i will make a separate, larger post later for subtypes of 5's and 4's since a lot of people struggle with it as well
before looking at the tritype descriptions, i recommend most people look at the gut triad and their reactions to anger
8's externalize their anger - impulsive, tendency to immediately respond towards situation, emotionally charged in the moment, focused on punitive measures, use anger as a force for change in protecting themselves or what they value
9's repress their anger - calm types on the outside, instead of anger they may experience sadness, avoid conflict, hate when people fight, can be somewhat passive rather than confrontational, retreat from any tense situations, hold underlying resentment towards people
1's internalize their anger - inclined to resent the world, seem calm and controlled on the outside but feel as if they are an emotional wreck on the inside, tries to almost control the situation, feels weighed down by the worlds "failures" and imperfections
541 - do you ever find yourself conflicted with rational judgements and your internal emotions? between your head and your heart? 1 + 4 makes you hard to please, conflicted between restriction, control and wanting to experience life to the fullest. this type is often pretty standards and moral focused. when you were evaluating yourself in the past, did you struggle between determining wether you were stronger in fi and fe? infj's are known for their "greater good" ideals. a 541's would revolve around fairness, justice, or order. they may feel even more stronger towards these ideas than any of the other 3.
548 - this tritype is double-reactive, and non-attachment. they are often emotionally intense and impulsive. not necessarily in an angry way, per say, but more towards protecting what they care about and feeling strongly. have you ever been mistyped as a thinking type? do you prefer not to work with others? 548's are also generally known as a "scholar" type, and can sometimes associated with thinking functions. maybe you are very thoughtful and opinionated, or have been mistyped as a thinking type in the past.
549 - having a 9 fix makes you more focused on your fe and se. if you find yourself being pretty balanced in your intuition and sensing, you are probably a 549. it's also a triple withdrawn type, meaning you would be a lot more distant, thoughtful, or philosophical. maybe you are also very self aware and self-conscious, however you struggle to express those emotions to others. you have lots of opinions and thoughts, however you do not share them as much with those close to or around you. infj's are known for their "greater good" ideals, albeit being a stereotype. this tritype usually has one towards harmony or peace. compared to the 2 other types, this tritype would not feel as strongly towards these ideas.
