100 of my favorite non hip hop releases from 2022. I made a seperate list for hip hop already which you can find here if you’re interested. 2022 will go down as a memorable year for me not just for the sheer quantity of great releases, but also because i feel that all my of my favorite genres had a chance to shine. I started returning to my hardcore/punk/metal roots within the last couple years and 2022 was the first time in recent memory where I really felt like I was fully tapped in. There were so many highly anticipated releases from a ton of different artists last year, and the majority lived up to the hype for me. Grindcore, Mathcore, and Post-Hardcore seems to have been making a huge comeback with some incredible new efforts from modern genre staples like Wormrot, Callous Daoboys, Brutus, Greyhaven, Birds in row, Knoll, and Cloud Rat. Not to mention the much welcome return of some legendary acts including Gospel, Sawtooth Grin, and City of Caterpillar. I’m sure there’s plenty of stuff I missed out on too, so feel free to hit me with any recommendations you might have or just let me know what projects you enjoyed the most last year. Best in Show! Breeding Challenge

Basic-to-Gem | Plentiful-to-Rare

I wanna do a breeding challenge but I also like to suffer so here's my challenge for RNG chaos.

I will start with a plentiful triple basic pair and breed till I get a gem gened rare breed (I'll be going for Obelisks)

Steps:

1). Start with a G1 plentiful breed pair both with triple basic genes. To get them roll a D20 for page number and a D10 for the dragon.

2). Breed them! Depending on the number of eggs roll a die and keep one baby. Sell/exalt the rest.

3). Once you have your keeper baby go to the AH and sort by your needed gender. Then roll another D10. (Alternatively you can also just choose the cheapest available.)

4). Repeat until you have a blue ribbon winner!

Personal Guidelines:

1). All genes must be visible! Tert can't be left basic. Stained only counts if it is noticeable.

2). If you hatch a special eye(goat, facet, primal and multi) baby you can exchange it for the chance to add one specific gene, color or breed to your pool. For the next dragon you take from the AH you may choose 1 with either one color your need. One gene you need. Or the breed you need. Alternatively you can apply a scroll to the dragon you buy off the AH.

3). Milestones! Celebrating milestones is fun so here's some to celebrate: Breeding a special eye Getting one of your goal genes into the breeding pool Getting the goal colors into the breeding pool Getting the goal breed into the breeding pool Getting a hatchie that looks pretty but isn't what you're going for.

hi. my current playlist consists of songs i'm accumulating for the next hottest 100 on triple j (an annual countdown of everyone's favourite songs of the year, if you're unfamiliar with what it is.) it's a very wide range of genres and artists, but i would love to see your take on my current update: playlist/5M6Ze1NAJs4NCJSvPJ4fvt (just copy and paste the link after the open(.)spotify(.)com and let me know if it doesn't work.)

There are a lot of great songs on your playlist, “Harmony Hall” by Vampire Weekend, “bad guy” by Billie Eilish, and especially “Without A Blush” by Hatchie are all favorites of mine. I also really enjoyed “Between You & I” by Kita Alexander, she has a similar vibe to Hatchie. 

If you’re looking recommendations, I’d say that you’ll probably like HAIM, (that Flint Eastwood cover was pretty good, I think you’d like their other songs. My personal favorite is “Little Of Your Love.”) I also think that you’d like LÉON, she has a similar soulful voice to Montaigne. 

I had never heard of the Next Hottest 100 before, so it was fun to learn about. I looked up last year’s list and there were a ton of amazing songs on the list, including some of my personal favorites from last year. Thank you for sending me this!

Hockey Dad joined by Hatchie cover the Macy Gray 1999 hit single, I Try for Like A Version on Australian radio station triple j.

Hockey Dad are an Australian surf rock band from Windang, New South Wales, Australia. The band consists of two members, Billy Fleming and Zach Stephenson.

Harriette Pilbeam, known professionally as Hatchie, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician.

Over the weekend, I managed to find time to watch a new Italian series on Netflix named Baby. I figured it was only six episodes long, and it sounded like it might be my kind of thing, being a gritty teen tale with dark topics inspired by a true story. Though the show ended up decent but not brilliant, being not quite dark and twisted enough for my tastes, I was very much fond of its soundtrack because it was loaded with a whole lot of dark synthwave and Italo-disco. After listening to Sydney trio GAUCI and their brand of sharp pulsing Italo-disco and opaque synthpop on new single Paradise, I’m much convinced that the next season of Baby needs to consider them for their soundtrack. Paradise is a luscious and lavish swathe of icy synths and enchanting vocals. The band shares: “Paradise is about those fleeting moments of solitude in the first moments of waking up when the external anxieties of life haven’t had time to settle in.” Paradise is the band's first release of 2018, following their debut single Hurry and follow up Taking Over, both of which received heavy rotation on FBi Radio in Australia and loads of praise from triple j unearthed. I dallied on their Soundcloud page for an extended amount of time after falling for Paradise, falling head over heels for the remix they did for fellow Australian artist Hatchie. Stream their darkwavey electronic/Italo-disco version of Hatchie’s Try below. It’s a total 180 from the original’s dreamy, gauzy indie.  The remix can be found on the Japanese edition of Hatchie’s Sugar and Spice EP.  GAUCI is working on their own debut EP for 2019. New single Paradise is availble on iTunes, here.
