Erdtree forgive me for what I'm about to do (WNM mini fic, that's not the title but sorry not sorry)
SO as some of you may be aware of, I've written...rather far ahead in 'Who Needs Maidens.'
In light of RECENT TRAILER DEVELOPMENTS my creative brain is going rabid, and to temporarily sate it I'm going to post a mini part of one of those thingies here. I might toss it out. It's rough. I might not pull the proverbial trigger, which is why it's going nowhere near AO3. It...kinda works as a standalone fic, though.
WARNING: Dubious consent (not super graphic), WEIRD imagery, Miquella's dilemma about being an ancient eldritch being stuck in, first, a child's body, and then whatever Mohg turned him into. Basically he's a dream-walking adult/demigod/eldrich abomination.
And, uh, spoilers.
Working Title: To Burn Alone, Once Again
Miquella’s body was cursed with delicacy, with beautiful, sterile youth. His life was but a moment, frozen in time. But Miquella’s mind grew old. In his dreams, he was free. His abundance was unrestrained.
Trina was a useful mask. Beautiful, like him, mysterious and wise. He shrouded himself in mist, and traveled in shadows. He lived through others, gathering memories like flowers, slipping through the shadows of their dreams.
But sometimes, when power flowed through him, and a dream was so strong that he could touch it, Miquella would cast Trina aside, and dare to reach for the raw blood and emotion burning in the world. He took up the sword with hands as large and dextrous as his father’s. He crossed the rolling hills of Altus in the dreams of soldiers, and waded through the despair of Tarnished Hunters in Limgrave. He donned grand, red-and-black vestments plucked from his half-brother’s mind. He loaded his body down with rusted iron armor, and stuffed linen into his boots to cushion the blisters on his heels.
He tasted faint, alluring memories of ale and greasy, tavern-fried duck. He caught the scent of blood and shit on the Caelid battlegrounds, but also of hot honey-tea and warm bread. He felt –
Miquella did not dare draw close enough to truly feel. He risked discovery, reprisal, and then retaliation from forces beyond his control.
And guilt. To experience the terror and thrill and pain of battle alongside a dreamer was to touch the softest, most vulnerable parts of them. More joyful memories were worse, for Miquella longed to sink deeper.
He told himself that he simply wanted to share such things with the dreamer. But when it grew cold and dark in his cage, and when the days before and after, before and after, before and after the burning of the Erdtree stretched on for too long, Miquella knew the truth. He wanted those precious moments for himself. He wanted everything.
Miquella embodied Abundance, after all. He was meant to sow his seed, to reach out to the very corners of the Lands Between, and to fill the cosmos itself. If not for the curse, his legs would be long, his shoulders would be broad, and he could join his other half in battle.
You will always be my blade, Miquella thought, because he knew that Malenia would not have it otherwise. So I will be your shield.
Waiting was hard. Miquella soothed himself with his own dreams, his own plans, and watched, unable to do more than suggest, to hint, occasionally prod a sleeping mind in the right direction. He got better at it each time the Erdtree burned.
He could not truly interfere. Yet he could not turn away from the Volcano Manor, not when he realized what had happened.
What should not have happened, not with —
Miquella cursed Mohg with every fiber of his ancient soul.
…and Bernahl dreamed.
Keira crossed the room once more. He relived the moment when she realized that he was watching every move she made. And then, again, when her laces loosened, and his gaze snared on the dip between her collarbones, and then slid lower as her shaking fingers twisted in her tunic, unknowingly teasing him. And in hindsight…oh, if he’d known, he’d have taken more time to draw the moment out.
But it continued. A rush of anger, then the crush of his mouth to hers. Blushing, stammering, and then heavy breaths and soft moans.
Their clothing lay in a heap on the rug as he coaxed her with his hands and words. But too quickly, the searing heat of her had him gasping in his sleep.
His dream pulsed and lingered, stretched and indulged. Bernahl’s hands squeezed and soothed in turn. He was still tangled up in her warmth and scent, more than enough to inspire him once again.
The dream urged him on, demanding that he look closer, squeeze tighter, fuck harder, for it could almost see, and surely then, it would almost feel…
…Not enough.
Miquella moved on, and dreamed of another life.
…Malenia’s Cleanrot Knights imprisoned Mohg at the first hint of his betrayal. Only the Haligtree’s treaty with Leyndell spared the Omen demigod. Rumor had it that Morgott the Grace Given had set a quiet, isolated cavern aside for Mohg, and left him to his blood sorcery and cruel prayers.
Instead, Miquella emerged tall and strong from the Haligtree roots, wings trailing behind him like a gossamer veil. Malenia had been waiting for him, wounded and still twisting in Rot, but overflowing with joy. Miquella held her close, excessively careful of his newfound strength. The top of his twin’s head rested just below his chin. They were a matched set, at last.
Together, Malenia and Miquella conquered the Rot, brought it to heel like a rabid dog, and spat in the face of its foul god. The Haligtree remained hollow, as he no longer had need of it, but Elphael grew nonetheless. Albinaurics, Misbegotton, and Tarnished alike flocked to the Haligtree alongside the Grace-blessed humans of the Lands Between. Miquella’s power grew with every life he took under his wing.
Miquella dreamed that Keira found her way there as well, and offered her help, first to his knights, then to his builders, and finally to the gardens growing from the roots. She kept her sword at hand, but she claimed a greenhouse for herself, and used half-forgotten knowledge to help her fellow travelers. Soon, many of Miquella’s devotees would come to her for instruction, and her scarred hands would fill Elphael with green and gold.
Perhaps he would hear tales of the strange Tarnished who could make the most stubborn plants grow. Perhaps her teachings would spread to his inner circle, or the fruit of her labors to his table.
Perhaps he would decide to thank her himself.
Miquella would come upon her by a carefully arranged accident, his wings hidden under a simple robe, and appearing as simply a very tall, very comely man. He’d find her hard at work in her garden, clad as lightly as decency would allow, spots of earth dusting her face and blackening her hands, her skin gleaming with sweat.
Perhaps he would sit beside her, heedless of his attire, charmed by her passion for her work. Perhaps his heart would ache when he saw how she missed her First Tree, but then nearly burst from his chest when she offered him half of her lunch.
She’d work out who he was, of course, perhaps on their second meeting, if his eyes gleamed too bright, or if she saw his wings.
Would Keira be frightened? Excited? Mortified? Flattered?
Miquella rather liked the thought of all of them, depending on his mood.
Regardless of her reaction, he would give her some time to think. A day or so later, he would find her again. He would curl over her, cup her face in his hands, and make his intentions clear.
No-one would dare watch if he lay with her among the lilies. Not that Miquella would care. They could stay there as long as he wanted, wrapped up in his opalescent wings, their bodies lit by the soft glow of unalloyed gold.
A lovely dream. Perhaps he was a romantic at heart.
…Or upon establishing his rule, Miquella could simply summon Keira to his chambers. The God of Abundance and Lord of the Haligtree would, naturally, want to personally interview a Tarnished with such an unusual passion for growing things.
His attendants would bathe her in steaming water infused with sacred oil, and cleanse her with soap formed from Trina’s lilies, known for relaxing the mind and softening the skin and hair. Her woes would be smoothed away, fragrant oils massaged into her skin until it glowed with health and softness, and her hair combed until it shone, and left to flow down her back in dark waves.
Her face needed no paint, no adornment, and after Bernahl Miquella barely had the patience to hide her body in the lightest of moth-silk.
But for the dream, he would, if only to draw it out.
Keira would be nervous, though she would hide it well, wouldn’t she? Bernahl hadn’t realized that she had never had a man until he’d been knuckle deep inside her. She would likely be considering whether or not to lie about her lack of experience, as only a complete imbecile would mistake his intentions.
Would she lie? Miquella would, of course, take her at her word, for what Tarnished would lie to their god? Then he could allow himself a little bit of greed, could press his suit quickly, roughly…and surely she would open for him so easily that any pain would simply heighten her pleasure.
And despite her clear anxiety, Bernhal had made her so very wet…
She’ll be wetter for me, Miquella thought, in the garden or in my bed. He groaned at the surge of sense-memory, and curled long, powerful fingers in thick, dark hair. He tugged, and the sharp cry he received in return cut a line of fire down his spine.
Honeyed seduction melted into a frenzied claiming. Silk thread spun and writhed about Miquella’s bed as he pinned Keira beneath him, his smile as beautiful and terrifying as a blade. He smelled blood on her hands, and smoke in her hair. Erdtree smoke, from the dozens of times it had burned, each time bringing him one step closer to freedom — his little champion —
Miquella grasped for the pieces of sensation he’d cobbled together from thousands of dreams. Here, he tasted the power, the strength he craved. Every atom of his divine flesh pulsed with health. His curse was a memory, a vague, unpleasant dream as he cupped Keira’s face in hands that could crush her skull like an egg, and promised to be gentle.
A lie. This way of love was not soft, and would never be safe.
Miquella dreamed on, enfolding himself in borrowed sensation. He bid her cling to his shoulders and hips, and as it was his dream, she dug deep, and cried for him.
She wept until her eyes ran red, pleaded until she grew hoarse. She told him that next time would be the very last, that he would be free. He would ascend. She begged him to stay with her, to speak to her, to take her with him, anything – please —
…It was just a dream, so Miquella simply told her yes, and yes again, and took her.
Keira cried out, and he knew from the wet, lewd sound of their bodies that he barely fit inside her. And it would likely be worse — better, he needed more — in reality, considering what Mohg had made of him.
“You’ll forget him,” Miquella whispered.
Keira buried her face in his shoulder and sobbed.

How old were you 10 years ago? I was 15.
The last time you went out to eat, where did you go? I already talked about it in detail in a previous survey but my workmates and I went to a wine bar for Trina's despedida. We went to a nearby bar after for more filling bar chow cos all they had in the first place were light finger food meant to be paired with wine.
What did you order? For the wine bar, we got a few bottles of wine, clams, a cheese plate, and fries; for the bar, we had chips, sisig, and mac and cheese balls.
Think of the last film you watched. Who was your favourite character? I can't remember the last movie I saw because I rarely watch any anymore; but the last anything I watched was Prison Playbook. I'm only one episode in, but my favorite has been the sweet dude who was part of the same inmate batch as the main character. Least suspicious character so far, and it helps to know that his reason for getting incarcerated was merely because he didn't pay back the loan for his mom's surgery.
Do you use Twitter? How about Tumblr? I do use both, although I'm much more active on Twitter because all I do here is take surveys on weekends and the occasional weeknight.
What colour are the walls of the room you’re in? They're white.
What would you like to say to the last person that hurt you? I have not felt hurt by my loved ones for a very long time now. That feels pretty great to realize!
When was the last time you felt disappointed? Who/what cheered you up? I was soooo bummed last Friday – I had booked a visit to a museum, but I didn't expect the traffic to be absolutely awful (it was mid-afternoon, when roads would be relatively more relaxed) that I got to my destination 40 minutes after my reserved slot. It was also the last timeslot for the day, so it wasn't like I could just join the next batch of visitors.
I figured it'd be stupid of me to even show up lol, so I just went to the food hall next door, which also ended up sucking because there was no cell signal inside; I couldn't even use my data. At least I got a delicious spicy tuna poke from my visit.
Do you have a friend whose name starts with ‘L’? Describe him/her. There's Lea and Leigh. Lea is SUPER friendly, I love love love having conversations with her so it's a shame we see each other so rarely; I also see her as headstrong, ambitious, and intelligent. Leigh is creative, gentle, and a really talented singer.
When you opened your eyes this morning, what were your first thoughts? Holy shit I suck at waking up, I must have missed Jungkook's set at the Global Citizen Festival and I hate myself. Then I checked my Twitter (it was 7 AM by that point; they advertised the set as starting at 4 AM, Manila time) and apparently he was still in the middle of doing Seven LOL. Man did his set three hours late so I got to still hang out with him for a few minutes AND see the teaser for 3D!!!
Have you received any compliments today? Nah.
Describe one of your favourite items of clothing. Where did you get it? My brown sleeveless maxi dress - just Shopee, haha.
Name one of your favourite foods that starts with the letter A. Arancini.
Is there anyone from your past that you sometimes miss? Tell me about them. Only people I can think are Sofie and my grandpa. Sofie was my best friend in high school and we were each other's biggest confidantes. She was born overseas but since her parents were incapable of raising her and were separated, she was sent back here from childhood, and that's how she ended up in my school by around Grade 7. She had hair as thick as mine, loved makeup, and got me into Audrey Hepburn. We grew apart in college and saw each other a grand time of Once before she migrated to the UK this time last year. Our relationship post-drifting-apart has been wholesome and there's been absolutely no grudge or bad blood or whatever. I was raised around my grandpa routinely telling me random trivia and general knowledge, and I think I got my love from learning from him. He is a gifted writer and he apparently used to write my grandmother poems when they were younger, and is into history. If there is one thing he can't handle well, it's alcohol, and I have my fair share of trauma from what I've seen of him when he has had too much to drink. Nevertheless I think of him fondly, especially for the person he was without his brandy. He died in 2015 from a sudden heart attack when he was visiting family from our province.
How long have you known the last person you text messaged? Since 2020.
Do you know what the person you miss is doing at this moment? Probably on his lunch break.
Has anyone told you that they love you today? Yes.
In the last week, what’s the kindest thing that someone has done for you? My sister making me instant noodles when I asked her.
Is there a song that makes you cry every time you hear it? We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal has been a little rougher to listen to these days. So has Love Letters.
If someone read your mind right now, what would they hear? They would hear remnants of Le Sserafim's Fire In the Belly because I can't stop thinking about it lmao.
Do you have any favourite jewellery that you wear every day? Yes, my purple heart charm necklace that Reena gave me.
What colour are the eyes of the last male you talked to? Dark brown.
Are you wearing anything orange or red? Yes.
Who was the last person you said “hello” to? Idk, I think my sister.
I like to think there is always something to smile about…so, tell me, what’s your reason to smile right now? News about my potential resignation has apparently spread at work so I'm just happy that I'm not bearing it on my own anymore. They know I have plans to leave and they know I'm not too thrilled with my promotion, so at least I don't have to worry about violent reactions when the timing is finally right to step back and step out.
Also, Jungkook new single on Friday.

Katrina 'Trina' Russell
[30-55, Victim Liaison Officer, cis woman, she/her, bisexual, fc Lena Headey]
Tumblr media
Trina was adopted as a baby and never knew her birth parents. She joined the British Navy and, during her service, she met her husband and the father of her son, Ted. Their marriage was short-lived, Trina soon realising — when he began to show his true colours — that she'd jumped into the relationship too fast. The divorce went through when Ted was a toddler, with her having sole custody.
After leaving the Navy as Ted was entering his teens, Trina transitioned into civilian life, taking on a role as a victim liaison officer.
Outside of her professional life, Trina enjoys staying active, often going on hikes and spending time outdoors with her Beagle-cross, Billy. She also has something of a creative side, occasionally drawing or painting.

Wrath: a little about myself as an Obake fictive. One of many. It's important in all cases to remember FICTIVES ARE NOT THEIR SOURCE and may differ slightly or gravely.
PART 2
- meeting Hiro -
(bouncing back a bit for clarification from my last post, not so important just a little extra information) years have passed between my time building trina and meeting Globby by the way, and Liv was still working on her stuff but sometimes she had Di out doing things in her place. Di was made long before Liv experimented on herself and ended up in her suspended state. So this was long before meeting Yama or Globby and long before my real ambitions began. Di and I did a lot of things we shouldn't have -especially behind Liv's back- and it's hard to say who influenced whom.
- (coming back to the actual part 2) -
I was visiting the lucky cat for a quick morning meal. I really hadn't known much of anything regarding the teen genius Hiro. I'd heard of big hero six but since Yama hadn't done everything the same way as in the show and had broken my amplifier on his own.. things were different and had well changed. Big hero six was nothing more to me than some group who'd defeated Callaghan.
I had advanced my technology and my ambitions quite well and grew even more versatile with my hand that I'd lost my fingers in. Di and I seemed to be getting along okay though we had some differences and argued occasionally. By now Liv may as well be a vegetable and Di was working on some crazy experiments.
Speaking of, Knox was charging right at me while I was getting a meal at the cafe. The damn beast version of him had smashed the window in and attacked me. I still remain certain this was no accident and somehow Diane was threatened by me.
The whole thing is a bit of a blur to recall but I remember him biting part of my jaw clean off (teeth, bone and all) and clawing at my arm, knocking me over and pinning me. One of his claws sank into the side of my robotic eye quite deeply and left some scarring. I did my best throwing out some punches.
Again, it was a blur and I don't quite remember everything that happened. All I knew is Knox had run off shortly after and Hiro was there helping me along with his aunt cass. Paramedics were on their way.
When I got out of the hospital later I used more metal to cover my arm to cover the scarring there as well as make myself an artificial jaw in place of my missing one rather than their work at just making sure the hole around it would heal. It was hideous seeing that gap and I knew I'd had to fix it. I never forgave Diane (who claimed it was an accident and she lost control over Knox) and cut her off entirely.
Hiro had commented on my robotic eye before and so I went back out of curiosity the next morning. It was a weekend. There we talked of tech and such. I never went deep into my story, I knew better than to be open about these things. But that's it, when he talked about the neurotransmitter. My interest was piqued and I recalled Globby.
Eventually I looked into it and modified one of my own. But I managed to turn it into an earring and have it connected to my metal fingers to it and began to think about how wonderful it would be if I could get the teen genius to join me and my world. But his friends were holding him back. They needed to go. But first.. tests.
Later I eventually made fingers with joints and added a large but thin battery to my arm piece which wired over into my fingers. Yes I had to sit there and charge it for an hour but from there it lasted about a week before it needed recharge again. As for the earring, I only needed to change the battery on that every few months to about a year if I was lucky. I still forget the fingers exist from time to time-

The production was a hybrid of a film and a live show. Shot cinematically out-of-sequence with multiple cameras and without an audience, the show was nonetheless filmed on a single stage with traditional theatrical lighting. November
The heat breaks in October but November finally brings the cool, crisp air that Sid has been waiting for and not a moment too soon. He’s past most of the nausea but even when the temperatures had first dropped to something more manageable, he’d still felt uncomfortably warm most of the time. Most days he’d puttered around in his increasingly snug basketball shorts and any variety of Pens tees that seemed to be constantly popping up on his side of the closet.
It’s not until it’s finally chilly enough for him to pull on his sweats that he realizes he’s nearly outgrown those too, much to Geno’s delight.
Is good thing you growing, Sid! Means baby growing too, getting big and strong. Most healthy.” He chatters as Sid works up a sweat struggling into the pants before collapsing on the bed with a frustrated groan.
“I know,” he sighs, wriggling around until his head is propped up on several pillows so he’s not laying flat anymore. “It’s just these were my favorite and now they barely fit.”
Geno sits next to him, lowering a gentle hand to his belly. “Time to buy new. Need warm clothes for winter and you only going to keep growing.”
“Don’t remind me.”
“We get online after breakfast, order you lots of clothes.”
“G—”
But Geno cuts him off. “If you not show what you like, I order what I like.”
That gets Sid’s attention and he finally raises his head. “Okay, you win! Please don’t do that. I’ll pick out some clothes.”
Geno laughs and pats Sid’s thigh before standing up and extending a hand to help him up. “Thought you might change mind.”
When clothes start arriving just two days later, Sid doesn’t even balk. It’s so nice to have clothes that fit or are even big on him. He’s so grateful that he just hugs Geno, thanking him profusely.
Sid starts to feel settled in a way he hadn’t thought possible. He has routines now, structuring most of his days around online classwork, exercise, naps, practice and the part time online tutoring job he picked up. When Geno is home, he joins Sid for walks around the property once or twice a day and even does yoga with him occasionally.
Geno tries to go to as many appointments with Sid as possible and he’s there the day Dr. Agarwal does the ultrasound that reveals their baby’s sex.
Realistically, it doesn’t matter. Geno’s been dragging tiny Pens clothes, stuffed animals and baby things home here and there since before Sid moved in. They’ve started looking at baby furniture online and even settled on a pale, creamy gray to paint the room that will be converted to a nursery.
Knowing the sex of the baby won’t change any of that but Sid still finds himself unable to stop smiling after the doctor says they’re having a boy.
And Geno—Geno is elated.
The moment Sid sits up Geno is reaching for him, pulling him into a tight hug, speaking low Russian in his ear—way too fast for Sid to parse out even one familiar word so he just lets it wash over him. When they finally pull apart, he’s surprised to see Geno’s eyes a little shiny and red. He’s still smiling, though and Sid laughs softly. “I guess I didn’t realize how much you wanted a boy.”
Geno shakes his head. “Not matter, Sid. Don’t care if boy or girl just special to know. Not sure I can explain but it feels even more real now. Knowing this feels like I know our baby a little more, know him a little more.”
Sid gets it so he just nods, beaming up at Geno as he replies softly, “Yeah.”
The moment they’re in the car, Geno reaches over to squeeze Sid’s hand. “He needs a name.”
Sid takes a deep breath. He’s been thinking about that, has even spent time flipping through baby name books but now it feels even more important.
That night they eat dinner side by side, flipping through list after list of baby names on Geno’s tablet.
Two days later Sid stares at his phone, willing himself to dial his parents number.
They’d decided together to wait a couple of days—not because it’s a secret but they just wanted a little time to bask in the news before dealing with all the tension of talking to their parents. But now it’s time; after breakfast Geno had squared his shoulders, squeezed Sid’s wrist and headed to his office to call his parents while Sid settles on the couch to do the same.
Trina answers and just as expected her voice goes tense when Sid asks, “Is Dad there too? I was hoping to talk to both of you.”
“Oh?” She asks, obviously trying and failing to sound casual. “Everything okay?”
“Great actually,” he replies, trying to keep his tone cheerful. “We, um, we got some news.”
“Give me a second—I’ll get your Father”
Sid waits while she rounds up Troy and puts the call on speaker so they can both hear.
“Hey kiddo.” Troy sounds tentative.
“Hey Dad. I just wanted to tell you guys—It’s a boy. We’re having a boy.” He can’t stop the smile that spreads across his face as he says it.
He hears a moment of Troy’s deep chuckle before Trina exclaims, “Oh Sidney! That’s wonderful!” She really sounds like she means it and he feels giddy as he tells them more about the appointment.
Sid hears the feigned nonchalance return to her voice when she asks carefully,  “Does—did you tell the other dad?”
“He was there with me, actually. We found out together and he’s—” Sid doesn’t think happy even halfway covers Geno’s current mood but he can’t imagine how to put it into words. “He’s really happy. We both are. I mean, we would have been happy either way but knowing is just… it’s like we know him now. It’s kind of cool.”
Trina’s voice sounds a little choked when she replies. “I know exactly what you mean, Sidney.”
“Mom are you crying?”
He hears a soft laugh and a sniffle. “Just happy tears.”
“So uh,” Troy starts as Trina blows her nose loudly in the background. “Is living together still working out? Are you two getting along?”
“Yeah of course. He’s great. He’s… He’s just really, really great.”
“And you’re getting by? Financially?”
“Yes,” Sid says. If they only knew. “Did I tell you I found a job tutoring online part time? I don’t make much but I’m saving it all.”
“And he’s, ah, paying for everything else? He makes sure you have what you need?” Troy asks awkwardly, startling a laugh out of Sid.
“More than enough, Dad. Trust me. Sometimes I can’t get him to stop buying me stuff.”
“He must have a good job if he can do that.”
Sid clears his throat. “Yeah, it’s—yeah he’s got a really good job.” Part of him hopes they’ll let it drop. They don’t.
“What does he do?” Now it’s Troy’s turn to fake sounding casual.
Sid’s not entirely sure why he hasn’t told them the full truth yet. Geno has said it’s okay. Taylor knows. And realistically, it would hopefully take away their concerns about his financial situation but he knows it’s not that simple. He worries telling them will bring up a whole host of new questions and until now, he hasn’t felt ready to tackle that. But he’s never going to get a better opening and they have to find out sometime so he takes another deep breath and says quietly, “He, um, he plays hockey. Professionally.”
There’s a long pause and Sid tries to slow his breathing, anxiety rising every moment his parents remain silent.
“He’s—he plays hockey. What do you mean professionally?”
“Um, he’s in the, uh, NHL. On the Pens, the captain, actually.”
“That’s who you’re living with?!” Sid knew Troy would know perfectly well who Geno is but he doesn’t think he’s ever heard his dad’s voice squeak like that.
“Yes and I’m really sorry but you can’t tell anyone.”
There’s a long pause before Troy speaks again, voice gruff. “Why?”
“Come on Dad. An NHL Captain? It could be really bad if it got out.”
“So he’s keeping you and the baby a secret.”
“No. The team knows, most of the organization knows. He has their support and he’s working with PR.”
“And PR wants you to be kept a secret.”
“I know how it sounds but this is a decision we both made. He’s Russian, Dad! Do you understand what that means? If this gets out here it could be bad for both of us, but if it gets out there? It will be a lot worse than just some people being shitty about it. We have to be really careful.”
“So this is all about protecting him.”
“No. No!” Sid huffs, frustrated. “He’s doing everything he can to protect all of us!”
“This is not good, Sid. You have to understand why this worries us.”
“I do but you have to trust me. The people we’re working with have a lot of experience—legally and with public relations. They know what they’re doing. I trust them.”
There’s a pause before Troy clears his throat and says tentatively. “Your, ah, your mother and I have some money set back. Maybe we should think about getting you your own lawyer.”
“That’s not necessary, Dad.”
“Sid, he could take the baby and it would be very, very hard to get your rights back. Money talks. But if you have some protection, some insurance beforehand—”
“No.” Sid does is best to sound firm—he has to shut this down. “We’re not doing that.”
“But—”
“I’m not doing that and I’m not going to argue about it.”
He hears Troy sigh heavily. “Okay Sid. If we have to keep it a secret for now then that’s what we’ll do but only for you.”
“That’s all I ask.”
Sid wraps up the call as quickly as he can after that, muddling through the awkward goodbyes.
After he ends the call, he drops the phone onto the cushion next to him and closes his eyes, breathing deeply until he feels a gentle hand on his shoulder. He twists to look up into Geno’s worried, weary eyes.
“You okay?”
Sid nods before letting out a long breath. “Yeah. It’s just stressful, that’s all. Are you okay?”
Geno nods, looking just as worn out as Sid feels but before he can say anything else Geno lifts his other hand. “Here. Think this might help,” he says with a soft smile as he hands over the pint of Sid’s favorite chocolate marshmallow swirl and a spoon.
Sid smiles, taking it gratefully as Geno rounds the couch and settles in next to him.
The first bite is heavenly. “You’re right,” he mumbles around a mouthful. “This helps.” He scoops out another spoonful and holds it out to Geno. “Want some?”
“Shouldn’t. Not on meal plan.” But he takes the bite anyway, grinning at the laughter that bubbles up out of Sid.
He settles in closer, reaching for Sid’s ever-growing belly. “Okay?”
Sid smiles softly. “Always.”
Geno hunches down a little more, sliding his hand under Sid’s shirt as he starts talking, rubbing idly as he talks quietly. It always relaxes Sid and he doesn’t think he’s imagining the way the baby settles, too. He lets the soft words wash over him as he leans into Geno’s side, letting the stress of the phone call slip away. Maybe Sid’s parents don’t understand how lucky he is, how lucky the baby is to have Geno but he does and right now that’s all that matters.

Big Sister pt. 2
And if anyone wants to see a general pic of what the twins look like, I used Picrew. Bree is the left, Brad on the right.
Tumblr media
Saturday
After a morning of waking, brushing, grooming, dressing and feeding the twins, Trina though it best to walk them around the campus and show them what their “future school” could look like.
Trina was clad in her casual gear, yellow headphones hung from around her neck, satchel swaying from side to side. Bree skipped in her favorite pink and white gingham dress and sneakers, her hair tied in pigtails with small red ribbons while Brad ran behind her in khaki shorts and a dark blue shirt, his blue high tops thudded to keep up with his sister. His hair swayed wildly in the wind.
They had just stopped outside the courtyard where statues of the Great Seven stood proudly alongside one another.
“So! Where you guys wanna go?” She squatted to their height.
“Whatever you want, Sis!” They said simultaneously. Their eyes bright and shining in the sun, and smiles innocent, Trina’s heart melted at their adorableness.
“Incoming!!!”
At that, a brightly colored hedgehog came sailing through the treetops like a cannonball. With her sixth sense, Trina turned, shielding the kids, and in time to thrust out her hands and catch the animal between them, landing on her feet for balance.
“Whoa!” “Big Sis, are you okay?!” The twins ran to her as she kneeled.
“I’m fine, guys! But this little one...”
The three looked down at the red-colored creature, who was shaking before it stilled and unfurled from its balled form. It sniffed Trina’s hands, looking up at the group. Squeaking happily, it curled into her cupped hands.
“Aww!” Bree and Brad cooed. They gently pet the hedgehog, just as Ace Trappola burst from the foliage. The twins looked up and hid behind Trina, unsure of this new presence.
“Trina! Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I didn’t know where he went for a second! You totally saved me!” He pushed his lips into a smile, cheeks obviously flushed from running.
“Ace! Where’d the hedgehog go? Did it get hurt?” Not soon after, Deuce Spade halted in the clearing. Before the redhead could answer, Trina snapped,
“What the hell, you two?!”
The first years were taken aback by her sudden retort. Homura’s lips were scrunched together, eyes narrowed, fists clenched. She lept to her feet with, “Nobody got hurt, for you answer, Deuce. But you could’ve put my cousins in danger!” The creature, now with the twins, wasn’t scared, neither were the latter. They could only stare at Trina with wide eyes. Even as she sped walked straight towards the two, eyes full of fire. Ace has his hands up in mock surrender, and Deuce looked ready to piss himself looking at her now glowing eyes.
“Hey! H-hold up, Trina! We didn’t know-OW!” “OW!!” The two rubbed the back of their heads from where they were slapped. But not before they were shoved to the concrete, catching themselves on their hands before they ate asphalt.
“You’re both lucky that I didn’t do worse.” She pointed out with a snark, anger dissipated. Jogging to the others, she scooped up the hedgehog carefully while introducing her cousins.
Ace smiles at the two. “Well then, BB, how’d you like to visit the Queen of Hearts herself? We’re having a small get together, and I think it’s a good opportunity for you to learn of Heartslabyul and it’s superior Queen!”
“Can we? Can we? Can we?!” The twins shouted with glee. Smirking, she looked up at Ace and Deuce.
“Why not?” A squeak of agreement from the hedgehog followed.
————————————————————
A couple minutes later, the main four were all seated in the Heartslabyul gardens, Trina and the twins included. Needless to say, the twins were enjoying their sweet tea and extravagant desserts.
Now, Cater, Ace and Deuce we’re running around the open grass, playing tag with the twins. Trina and Trey decided to stay to the sidelines, keeping an eye on them. As Cater fell to the ground, laughing as Brad pounced on him with a ‘you’re it!’, Trey turned to Trina.
“I have to say, Trina. I never knew you to be the sisterly type.” Trey commented, adjusting his glasses.
“Well, growing up with no older siblings was a bit difficult. How I managed is far beyond me.” Trina chuckled, entwining her ponytail between her fingers.
It wasn’t a lie. Trinity was the only child in her family. No other cousins or relatives around her age at the time. She had no figures to take after. The only figures she had to learn from were her mom, dad, and occasionally aunt Momo. It was a calamity. Her dad taught her one thing, but her mom and aunt taught her another. Often at times, conflicting with each other: Act a certain way, dress another way. It was very rarely for Trina, as a child, to have a say in doing what she wanted. But after the twins came into her life five years ago, that’s when things changed.....
Trina was too engrossed in her thoughts, she barely even noticed the twins screaming in terror.
“BIG SISTER!!!”
They hugged her legs, completely snapping her from her daze. When Trina saw them, she felt her heart crack: tears glazed their eyes, frowns present and they were shaking in fear.
“Oh no! What’s wrong?” Trina knelt to hug them both. They didn’t hesitate to embrace her. She wiped away their tears with her thumbs.
“There was this scary man in red who screamed ‘Off with your heads!’ out of nowhere.” Brad blubbered.
“We didn’t know if it was meant for us!” Bree sniffled. They bowed their heads in shame like they had committed a crime.
And thank god they did.
For after hearing what happened, Trina’s head lowered, bangs covered her eyes. But inside, she was hiding how she really felt.
“BB.” She spoke in an oddly calm voice. The two looked at her, but made no comment. “Both of you stay together. I just realized....I have something important to handle.”
————————————————————
Ten minutes later, Trina came back, with a smile on her face.
“Trina! Where’d you go?” Cater ran up to her.
“Oh, y’know, just had to deal with something. Where the twins?” She brushed off.
“Uh, they’re with Ace right now. Why? You need them?”
“As a matter of fact, I do! I’ll need them to help me with.... ‘important matters’ if you will.”
Cater was a bit iffy about the way that sentence was said, but before he could get a word out, Trina called for the two.
“Little Brother! Little Sister! We need to get going!”
As if they were soldiers, the two said their goodbyes to the Four Cards, and scurried to keep up with Trina’s strides.
Just as soon as they reached the front doors,
“TRINITY!”
The twins screamed and clutched each other in terror. Trina roller her eyes while turning to the person that barked her name.
“Hello, Riddle.” She spat his name like bile in her mouth. The Heartslabyul lead strode up to her, eyes stone cold, lips twisted into a scowl.
“What in Her Majesty’s name are you doing here?” He seethed.
“Aww, c’mon, Rose. Can’t a girl hang out with four of her amazingly loyal friends?” She pouted in mock sadness, hands held over her heart. She pouted, eyes glossy.
“Not with that attitude, you can’t.” He bit back. Trina let out a scoff of offense, but the former brushed it off, his steely grey eyes landing on the cowering children.
“And who are they?!” He swung his scepter down to point at the two.
“I-I’m Bree, and this is my brother, Brad, Your Majesty. We’re with Big Sister.” The little brunette managed to speak up, remembering what the Ace of Hearts taught her.
“ ‘Big Sister’?” Riddle repeated the word like it was completely foreign to him. He eyed Trina with suspicion while kneeling before the two, who were commanded to come forward.
“And why, pray tell, do you call...miss Homura your ‘big sister’?” He demanded in a soft tone.
“It’s because we love her with all our hearts!” Brad intercepted. “Big Sis is like one we never had! There’s nothing we wouldn’t do to protect her!” He shouted with glee. Then at the last minute, “Uh, Your Highness!’ with a small bow.
“Is that so?” They nodded at the question. Riddle, for a minute, didn’t seem to buy the twins’ answers. Knowing Trinity like he knew himself, there’s nothing the she-devil wouldn’t do to one-up him with all she’s got. He’d rather die than admit she was smarter, and probably scarier, than him.
But after hearing the rumors of her with two kids...maybe they have potential to help Riddle in the grand scheme in Her Majesty’s name! And possibly overthrow Trinity in the process.
“Well, then!” His voice took up a more happier approach. “Since you both have followed the proper rules towards speaking to a Royal, and with truthful answers, I can see that you both have potential! Joining Heartslabyul would be the benefit of your futures! Keep that in mind!” He instructed. With a snap of his fingers, two small badges with the Heartslabyul crest floated in midair before moving to each twin. They grabbed the pins, holding them close like they were new toy robots.
“Thank you!” They smiled. A small smile was on Riddle’s lips until-
“Uh, Your Majesty!” A timid first year ran just behind him but halted when he saw his commander busy.
“WHAT?!” Riddle snapped around to face the first year, his glare as sharp as a knife. The first looked close to pissing himself.
“N-not to make you mad or anything...b-but....we have an emergency! The roses are on fire!” He was gone as soon as the word ‘fire’ was uttered.
Riddle whipped around. If he was mad before, he was definitely seething now. His eyes were dead set on Trina, who just looked back at him with an innocent smile.
“This. Isn’t. Over. You She-Devil!” And with that, he hiked up his coat and raced towards the gardens at the sound of a fire bell.
Trina only watched him go with glee, while ushering the twins out, fingering the mini lighter in her pocket.
————————————————————
The three were out of breath as soon as they slipped out the Heartslabyul doors. Trina looked over her shoulder several times to make sure the monarch wasn’t hot on their heels, laughing maniacally as she did so running.
However, she wasn’t looking where she was going, and just as she turned her head back, she smacked into someone, sending her stumbling to the ground.
Just as she braced for impact, keeping her eyes open, she was surprised to find herself just three inches before face planting. She craned her head up to see herself inside a teal colored bubble. Her body floated in air. There was only one person who could manipulate gravity spheres like these.
“Breelyn!”
The little twin held her hand out in front of her, fingers glowing a bright green, her eyes doing the same action but were filled with fear. Her big sis nearly got hurt!
As well as the other student behind her.
Ruggie was trying to find where the hell Leona has snuck off to, only to crash into Trina (literally) sending them both in a stumble. He nearly landed on his back had it not been for the little squirt to save their asses. And was he ever relieved.
After Bree released the second years from her hold, Trina ran for Bree and scooped her into a tight hug.
“Bree! I can’t believe you did that!” Trina’s voice shook slightly. She felt so many things: anger, fear, shock, relief. But she still hugged her little cousin.
“Is Big Sis okay? I didn’t want you to get hurt!” Bree pulled away to stare at Trina with tears eyes. With one look at her, Trina felt herself tear up. She flicked her tears away before they could show.
“Yea, I’m okay.” She smiled. “But don’t do that again without me knowing! Lord knows what could happen to you if you over exerted yourself!” Bree nodded, giggling.
“Fluffyyyyyyy.” Brad cooed.
At the sound of his voice, Trina positioned her gaze to see the second twin scratching Ruggie’s ears, the latter obviously enjoying the young boy’s touch. Cheeks dusted a faint red, his tail waggling, and a stupid grin across his face was all it did to seal the deal.
Trina snickered as she held Bree closer. She silently whipped out her phone and hit the “record” button while watching the scene unfold.
“Big Sis, I’m hungry.” She heard Bree faintly whisper in her ear.
Trina silently looked at her watch. It was nearing dinner already! Luckily she knew a place that be admittable for the two.
“Don’t worry, Bree. Just a minute.” She answered, not taking her eyes off the smiling Brad.
————————————————————
After some time of prying away Brad from Ruggie, Trina carried the two with her to the Mostro Cafe for a quaint dinner.
Bree stayed in Trina’s arms, while Brad clung piggy-back style.
“Okay, you two.” Trina managed to slide Brad off her shoulders, and knelt to face them both. They were just outside the Cafe doors. “Now I want you both to be on your best behavior. Don’t act so rambunctiously. We’re in a public place, so be courteous. Okay?”
“Yes, Sis!” They grinned.
After lightly kicking the door open with her foot, Trina looked around the place.
Several students were dotted along the room as the sound of soft jazz played over the speakers. The windows displayed the calming waters of Octavinelle, the medium tone of blue set a serene-like tone to the place.
“Mmm. Pretty empty for a Saturday.” She mumbled, the twins stayed close.
“Then again, hasn’t it always?” A voice sung out. Trina smiles lazily. She looked over to see a postured figure stalk up to her, cane tapping the floorboards.
“Greetings, Azul.” She nodded in the second year’s direction.
“Ah, Trinity. Such a surprise to see you! You’re normally cooped up in your lair at this time, aren’t you.” Azul chuckled slightly. “Ain’t that right, boys?”
Slinking from the shadows, the Leech twins took their places beside their boss.
Breelyn whimpered as she hid behind her sis. She didn’t like the two new figures, as one smiled normally and the other grinned like a shark.
Trina pushed back her bangs in a subtle gesture, shrugging. “While that is true, I won’t deny. I’ve actually two reasons for being here.” Her eyes remained fixated on the trio, not a hint of anxiety in her stance or her eyes. “I’ve something that I’ve managed to find on the cameras. And I believe it could be of use...?” She raised one eye brow slightly.
“Is that so?” Jade walked closer to Trina.
“You’re not just saying this to throw us off, are ya?” Floyd echoed, following at the same pace.
“Because you know what’ll happen-”
“If you try to cross us!”
“Please, as if I’d try and think about crossing Azul Ashengrotto. He’s just as invested in the blackmail as yours truly.” Trina said nonchalantly. The twins were close to her, their eyes gleaming in dark mirth. Trina looked at them both, her eyes as stoic as ice. Just one movement could break the tension and-
The patter of little feet sounded. Then, the twins faces turned to pained ones. Jade let out a sound of pain as he fell while Floyd, well, did the direct opposite. “Ow!! Fffffffflounderfuck!” He grabbed his shin and hopped up and down, teeth clenched in pain.
Trina, eyes widened in confusion, looked down to see Brad fuming, a cute pout of anger etched on his lips. Apparently, the braver of the younger ones decided to take one for the team and kick both older twins in the shins. More like the crotch area, but who’s watching anyways?
“Stay away from Big Sis, you creeps!” He spat, hugging Trina’s leg as a form of protection, cheeks puffed out. Breelyn stuck her head out more, amazed at her brother’s actions.
Trina was amazed. Normally, any of the first years would practically shit themselves if the Leech Twins were near. But Brad, being a five year old, he’s not one for fear. Hell, one time, he stood up to one of his sister’s bullies with nothing a squirt gun full of deer urine.
He did get sent to the principal’s, but it was worth it seeing his sister smile.
“What the-? Who are these children?” Azul sputtered in surprise, looking at the twins.
Trina sighed and shook her head. This was gonna be a while.
————————————————————
A few minutes later, with proper introductions, apologies and grilled cheeses later, everything went back to normal.
The younger twins, having satisfied their hunger, slowly but surely warmed up to the older twins. Breelyn stayed with Jade. She was looking at the tri-stone earring he and his twin wore often. She stared in awe and the beautiful stones while he kept a hand on her shoulder. Brad and Floyd, however....
"Oooh! You're so high up in the air little flounder!" Floyd laughed as he held Brad above his head. "Oh no, you're gonna fall!" He said as he brought him down to his chest and hugging the boy tightly.
“Again! Again!” Brad laughed, enjoying himself.
Trina smiles at the scene with affection, while swirling her cappuccino around in her mug. The two Octavinelle pins, with the Savanaclaw (courtesy of Ruggie) clinked together on the small dish in front of her.
“My, those two are a handful. How you put up with them is far beyond me.” Azul complimented, setting his tea mug beside hers.
“They’re my family.” She responded. “They mean a lot to me. If anything happened to them I’d never forgive myself.”
The other second year simply nodded. A small pause of silence was held between them.
“So what was it you said you found on the cameras again?” He requested, leaning forward slightly.
“One of the new Diasomnia students thought it’d be suitable to get revenge on Sebek. Called her something that didn’t stick well; she ended up cursing him. His hair changed color and his room became the next Atlantic Ocean. Wasn’t himself for a while.” She explained briefly. Azul snickered slightly, letting the conversation carry on past closing time.

Jade West
Character Profile for Jade West
Quotes
“If someone was pushed off this catwalk, and they landed on the floor really hard, do you think they'd live?”
“My favorite toy was a hammer. You finish the puzzle.”
General Information
Name:Jade West
Age:18
Gender:Female
Personality:Jade has a very prickly personality; she is known for being sassy, dark, grouchy, and sarcastic to those around her. She was described as "freaky" by the boy in Ice Cream for Ke$ha, to which she took offense to, but when she was described as "weird" by Moose in Three Girls and a Moose, she acknowledged and admitted it, nodding along (though that was because she was attracted to him). Jade has a 'thing' for scissors, first shown in Wi-Fi in the Sky as her username on TheSlap is 'ScissorLuv'. Her locker is also decorated with numerous scissors, her favorite (horror) movie is The Scissoring, and she even has a favorite pair as shown in her videos on The Slap and buys herself new pairs (Jade Gets Crushed). She also takes interest in pain (Cat's New Boyfriend), a lump of fat (Rex Dies), monkey fur, and blood (Freak the Freak Out (episode)), (Tori Gets Stuck). She also enjoys breathing in the fumes of dead people (Car, Rain & Fire), and likes to pretend she's been captured by witches and is being made into human soup while in hot tubs (IParty with Victorious). She has a macabre sense of humor, usually saying things about people being hit by a bus at various episodes, as well as somewhat sadistic tendencies, such as enjoying people getting hurt, even her own boyfriend being slapped (in a scene).
Jade is jealous, often insatiable, mean, and rude to many people. She sometimes shows authority and control at Hollywood Arts, yelling at others and even using physical force at times. Although she does not usually fight directly, she often retaliates in way "that will make [someone] sad for a long time". She is very possessive of her boyfriend Beck, protecting him from others that have a seem interested in him even as friends.
Despite her tough attitude, she can get freaked out by a few things, revealed by her horrified reaction to a dog attacking who she thought to be Beck (Jade Dumps Beck), freaking out when Sinjin broke into her house (Wi-Fi in the Sky), crying when she learned she was sweating for the first time (Survival of the Hottest), Sikowitz scaring her multiple times (iParty with Victorious), freaking out when Cat removed her eyebrows (Crazy Ponnie), holding onto Beck when soldiers invaded the gang's hotel in Yerba, and getting knocked down by Sheema in Locked Up!
Jade fits the stereotype of a "bad girl" much more than a "mean girl". She is very rebellious, as she doesn't like being told what to do and often points out that she's doing something because she wants to, not because someone told her to (for instance, she got her piercings 45 minutes after her mother said no to Jade), and often claims that she is only doing something because she wants to and not because someone tells her to (The Great Ping Pong Scam). However, she seems to obey Beck, and he is the only one able to calm her down and make her at least somewhat polite and nice to other people, for example in Beggin' on Your Knees.
Jade is a hardworking student at Hollywood Arts, where she dedicates her time to writing, acting, and singing. She seems to favor script writing, as she writes the play Well Wishes in Wok Star and manages to get it produced with the help of Tori. She seems to prefer to star in works she both writes and directs, and these works include: "Clowns Don't Bounce" (Prome Wrecker), an unnamed TV series where she plays the main character and her evil twin (only written; talked about in a post on The Slap), and her re-audition in Helen Back Again. All of these were dark and scary. She also seems to prefer film over stage, as her re-audition for Principal Helen Dubois was in the form of a short film while Beck's was a monologue on stage. Often, her performances are considered "weird" and "disturbing", but most people still enjoy them; an example of this is Well Wishes.
It is shown throughout the series that deep down, Jade is insecure and her heart is broken, which is part of the reason she is so rude towards people. For example, she has often assumed that Beck was cheating on her; she was devastated when she briefly broke up with him and he wouldn't take her back, and didn't want anyone "cool" to see her crying (Jade Dumps Beck). It's pretty clear that Beck is very meaningful to her and she feels empty without him. She also seems to be worried about her father's opinion of her hopes and dreams and went to great lengths to make him enjoy her play "Well Wishes" in Wok Star, which nearly got butchered. She also competed with the rest of the gang to get the most followers on The Slap to maintain popularity and dominance. She gets very upset when a satellite catches a picture of her that makes it look like she is picking her nose in The Bad Roommate and doesn't want anyone to see.
Jade often helps solves the group's challenge and could be considered the smartest (next to André and Beck). For instance, in Ice Cream for Ke$ha, she thought of the idea that the "S" would be found in the least popular flavor of ice cream. In Terror on Cupcake Street, she mentioned that the confetti cannon would scare the thugs away and it did. Even before Tori (and even Trina) joined the gang, she still solved problems, an example of this is in The Great Ping Pong Scam. In her profile video on The Slap, she describes herself as smart and deep.
Jade hates many things for various reasons, as reflected in her TheSlap segment, What I Hate, but she also has two episodes of these segments titled "What I Love", because she does not want to be predictable.
Although Jade seems tough and scary at times, she has been proven to only be very intimidating and she lost her only physical altercation with someone other than Tori (The Wood) and Cat (Crazy Ponnie); Sheema quickly knocked her to the ground in Locked Up!. Despite acting as creepy as she does, she is disgusted by many things including Trina Vega's pimple in Victori-Yes. She can also be quite flirty and feminine even in her dark, blunt nature - for example, she wears a very nice dress to the Prome in Prome Wrecker even though she only attends for revenge.
Despite her usual personality, she seems to have a bit of a soft side for young kids, as shown on her TheSlap.com segment, "Jade With Tots." In her conversations with preschoolers, although she is still herself, she seems more kind towards the kids. For example, when one of the kids talks too quietly, she loosely says "Gotta speak up, sweetheart." Also, when talking to another child, she smiles and says casually, "So I hear you're a little artist. You like art?" She also seems to be quite loving and motherly towards her best friend, Cat.
Occupation:Former student at Hollywood Arts
Appearance
* Eye Color: Blue-Green
* Hair Color: Brown (Season 1); black (Season 2); dark brown (Seasons 3 and 4)
* Trademark: Piercings, tattoos, and colored streaks in hair.
Jade started off as a brunette with blue-green eyes and stands at 5'7". Her skin is noticeably pale, but she got tanner and dyed her hair darker for the second season.
Jade has a Gothic sense of style, and aside from her dark, occasionally laced clothing she wears dark makeup and paints her nails black as well. The jewelry she wears is designed by real life artist Dre Swain, and she also wears dark red Doc Martens and black combat boots. She carries a Gears of War messenger bag. Jade also has multiple streaks in her hair that change color periodically. In season one her streaks in her brown hair are at first pink, blonde and light blue before going red for the rest of the season. In season two she dyed her hair black and her streaks are blue and green. In season three her hair is a dark brown and her streaks are mostly green, but also blue in a couple of episodes. In season four her hair is shorter and her streaks are purple for 10 of the 13 episodes. She also has two piercings, one in her left eyebrow and one on her nose. Jade has a rebel star tattoo on her right forearm and has since gotten another one that was never shown onscreen (Beck mentions that "Jade's getting her new tattoo" in a video on TheSlap.com, Tori Takes Requests #2).
Relationships with Other Characters
Beck Oliver
(2008-present, Boyfriend, with brief break-ups in between)
Jade: You love me again.
Beck: Who said I stopped?
Beck has been Jade's boyfriend and the love of her life for over three years, and she is very possessive of him. She doesn't like him talking to or flirting with other girls who she does not know and has trust issues with him (which is quite common among most teen couples). This sometimes irritates Beck; he once deleted his account on TheSlap.com because Jade kept spamming him and "freaking out", but he rejoined after she promised to stop. She has not done this since he re-joined, showing she can make compromises and she truly does love and respect him.
Her obsession with Beck is first made apparent in the Pilot, when she sees Tori wiping coffee off of Beck's shirt and immediately misinterprets the action as flirting. Though Jade is usually the one to show love in the relationship, the couple are shown to be mutually in love on multiple occasions such as when Beck says "I never stopped loving you". She dumps Beck briefly in the episode Jade Dumps Beck, but has second thoughts about it and quickly wants him back. She goes through a short state of depression when Beck doesn't take her back, even resorting to asking for help from her frenemy, Tori. At the end of the same episode, they rekindle their relationship and continue dating.
Beck also clearly loves to tease and rile up Jade, either by making her jealous or letting her get carried away by her own theories. This is exemplified in Wi-Fi in the Sky when he doesn't tell her his cheerleader neighbor is only 9 years old. Jade later claims that he does this all the time. In Beck's profile video on TheSlap.com, Jade states that they've been dating for two years and been exclusive for a year and a half.
Jade seems to show a softer side when she and Beck are alone, which has been seen on some of their videos on TheSlap. Jade also seems to be meaner and gets into fights with Tori more often when Beck is not there with her. In the last "Jade With Tots" episode, Beck tells Jade that he loves her, which makes Jade’s heart melt and she starts kissing him.
Sadly, in The Worst Couple, they broke up. After this, they rarely interacted, and when they did, they were bitter towards each other. For instance, in How Trina Got In, Jade mocks Beck and says (sarcastically) that he knows everything except how to keep a girlfriend happy. Additionally, both Jade and Beck acted very awkward around each other in André's Horrible Girl, both whispering to a friend that no one told them the other would be there, and they aren't happy about it. It was shown, however, that she still has lingering feelings for him as she was truly upset and hurt when she saw Beck hugging Tori and trying to kiss her in Tori Goes Platinum. Also, Beck seems to still care about her as shown in Opposite Date, when he wants to check if Jade is truly okay with him dating other girls, even though they were broken up at that point (it is quite possible he didn't want to hurt Jade's feelings).
In the episode, Tori Fixes Beck and Jade, after Beck realizes he still loves Jade, she coincidentally sings a song called "You Don't Know Me". They finally get back together and have remained that way for the rest of the show. They became more affectionate towards each other, no longer fight, and are much more physical. According to recent social media posts from Liz Gillies and Avan Jogia, Beck and Jade are still together, are currently living in Beck’s trailer, and they even have a kid of their own.
Tori Vega
(2010-present: Frenemy)
Dude, why are you rubbing my boyfriend?
Jade and Tori's friendship is complicated, and is full of insults and fighting, but it's also one of the closest relationships on Victorious. Jade appears to have had an open rivalry with Tori ever since the first episode (Pilot), where Tori spilled coffee on Beck and was wiping the coffee off him, then when Jade poured coffee on Tori, then Tori kissed Beck for revenge. As of episode 3, Stage Fighting, they seem to be developing a possible friendship, though she still displays a dislike for Tori. In the fourth episode, The Birthweek Song, she gives Tori coffee she found in the garbage and says "Yeah, I'm not really her friend." Despite saying this, Jade comes to Tori when she breaks up with Beck in Jade Dumps Beck, and asks for her advice (though Jade claims this is because she wouldn't want anyone cool to see her in that state). In Freak the Freak Out, Jade tries to use Tori to defeat two stuck-up girls at the Karaoke Dokie after she and Cat were unfairly banned from performing there, indicating that regardless of her hostility toward her, she regards Tori as a worthy performer. In Wok Star, Tori helps Jade produce a play she wrote herself to impress her dad. When her dad admits that Jade's play was excellent, Tori and Jade hug, signaling that the two are now considered friends. In Beck Falls for Tori, Jade helps Tori by forcing her to do the stunt and overcome her fear. In Tori Gets Stuck, Jade tries relentlessly to steal Tori's role in Steamboat Suzy and they seem to be enemies once again. In Prom Wrecker, Tori plans her prome on the same day as Jade's play "Clowns Don't Bounce" by accident, so Jade seeks revenge and tries to ruin Tori's prome. Eventually, Jade's plan backfires. They seem to be back on bad terms, as in Helen Back Again, Jade didn't help Tori get her spot in the school back, in Who Did It to Trina?, Jade blames Tori for her sister's injuries, and in Jade Gets Crushed, Tori states multiple times that Jade is evil. In Tori & Jade's Play Date they work together to revenge against two boys who are annoying them. They finally become friends in Tori Goes Platinum, when Jade sees Tori refuse to kiss Beck because she considers Jade to be her friend and she believes kissing a friend's ex-boyfriend would be wrong. Because of this, Jade gives Tori her spot in the Platinum Music Awards back and cheers her on in the audience showing thus the two becoming friends.
Regardless to say, however, Tori and Jade are enemies at times and at times but they are also friends. So, let's just say they two girls have a strong sense of the relationship, 'frenemy' but we can't say they aren't friends because they do act like it.
Cat Valentine
(2008-present: Best Friend)
Cat: We're hanging out together!
Jade: NO!
Jade and Cat are best friends. While Cat is a textbook girly-girl, Jade is more of a tomboy. They usually expresses concern for each other when they're hurt and calls out the person who caused it. Jade is also less hostile and more patient towards Cat than towards most people (even though she did once say, "Is it a device that can beam you to another table? Because if it is, which button do I push?!" and tells her she's "screwed up"). Cat is not as easily offended by Jade (although in Rex Dies, Jade makes a death threat to Cat, saying, "If someone fell of this cat-walk and hit the floor really hard, do you think they'd live?" and in A Film by Dale Squires, she uses the fact that she's acting as an excuse to slap Cat's face) and actually seems to adore her. Even though Cat unintentionally electrocutes Jade in Rex Dies, Jade is shown as not being extremely upset by it. In the episode Survival of the Hottest, they hug and she spins her around, which implies that they're very good friends since Jade rarely hugs anyone willingly. They seem to love each other like sisters. In Freak the Freak Out, they sing the song Give It Up together. Jade and Cat often comment on each other's boards on TheSlap.
Jade seems to exercise a parental sort of control over Cat and seems to know her very well. Jade admittedly doesn't hate Cat's video profile, and Beck tells Cat how this is a big compliment from Jade. Jade has also been seen sleeping over at Cat Valentine house before in a video[Cat and Jades bedtime story] on TheSlap. It is also mentioned that Beck and Jade babysit Cat sometimes.
It seems that Cat knows Jade rather well, as she managed to get Jade a Christmas present she liked. It should be noted that Jade's attitude towards Cat changes depending on the episode or her mood.
André Harris
(2008-present: Close Friend)
"And... that's for you."
Jade doesn't seem to have a problem with André. They have been friends for at least two years as revealed in The Great Ping Pong Scam. They eat at the same table and talk amongst the same group of people. She does get annoyed by André from time to time, as shown in Beck's Big Break when she is annoyed by him when he's playing music on his keyboard, so she knocks the batteries out of it. On the other hand they seem to be pretty nice to each other, as seen in The Diddly-Bops, where Jade was among the ones trying to console André about losing his record deal. She even pulls Rex's arm off for joking about the situation. In Jade Gets Crushed, André falls in love with Jade, but at the end of the episode, seems to get over her. Also, in The Worst Couple, Jade says something rude to every single character except André, which was noticed by a lot of people. In the final season, they had been seen to have been hanging out a lot more and spending time together. André even laughed a little too loud whenever Jade insulted anyone, even Tori, his own best friend. Fans had noticed this too, and people were questioning whether or not André still had feelings for Jade. It appears that Dan Schneider had meant for this to happen, because he leaked a video of a future kiss between Jade and André uploaded it once more.
Robbie Shapiro
(2008-present: Frenemy)
Robbie: I'll go get you some ice.
Jade: Sit down!
Jade has tortured Robbie during the first series though it has been slowed down since then. She has insulted him and Rex a couple of times, even tearing off Rex's arm with a smirk. In Survival of the Hottest, Jade forces Robbie to give her his water because she is hot and thirsty. She was elated to have Rex die, even with the emotional trauma it would cause Robbie, in Rex Dies. However, her reason was so that Robbie could get over Rex and finally become normal, possibly meaning, in her own way, she cares about Robbie's mental health. They are seen to be at least friendly acquaintances in The Diddly-Bops when Jade compliments Robbie on his song about broken glass, the only character to agree with him on it by saying "I like it". In Wok Star, he shows some compassion for her regarding her play, and confusion at her ways of dealing with stress (i.e.: cutting up a trash can). Yet, he joins in on the plan to make Jade's play better for the opening act. On TheSlap.com, Jade once commented: "Caught myself singing along to Robbie/Rex's song, Forever Baby. What is wrong with me? I don't even know who I am anymore!"
Trina Vega
(2008-present: Enemy)
NO ONE LIKES YOU!
Jade has barely interacted with Trina so far, but she appears to hate her. In Jade Dumps Beck, Trina gives her a flyer advertising her one-woman show. Jade responds by crumpling up the flier and stuffing it down Trina's shirtfront. In Survival of the Hottest, Jade yells bluntly to Trina twice that no one likes her. Also, when Tori asked Jade what she thought she should get Trina for her birthday, she replied wittily "talent", making it clear that she doesn't think Trina has any talent, which is probably what most people would say in the matter. She finds Trina's accident in Who Did it to Trina? hilarious, and even uploaded it online. However, in Wanko's Warehouse, she goes with the gang and Jade turns on Trina as usual.
Erwin Sikowitz
(2008-present:Teacher)
Jade claims that Sikowitz is her favorite teacher in her video profile on TheSlap, and mostly participates in his activities. During "Locked Up!" she is the first to react/run over to greet "their favorite teacher". Sikowitz doesn't really have a relationship with her, although he calls her to be in an improv scene in the "Pilot" and randomly calls on her to be in a Drive-By Acting Exercise, which annoyed her but she did it anyway. Jade was also part of the Diddly-Bops, a children's group that Sikowitz put together for his roommate's son's birthday party. Jade was also the first to comment about Sikowitz's TheSlap page. In "Sleepover at Sikowitz's", Jade is the first to volunteer to go to Sikowitz's house. Sikowitz always says phrases that start with "Ah, Jade..." giving her an advice or making a comment about her personality.
Sinjin Van Cleef
(2010-present; Enemy/Frenemy)
WALK AWAY!
Sinjin has a massive crush on Jade, but she dislikes him very much. In Jade Dumps Beck, when Sinjin heard that Jade dumped Beck, Sinjin told her, "Want one [boyfriend]?" Jade responded, "Walk away." and he did so quickly. Also, when the news of Jade and Beck splitting spread, Sinjin and his friend made an attempt to sit with her at lunch, until Jade merely (and loudly) said, NO and the two walked away. In "Tori the Zombie", Jade said his mother gave birth to the wrong thing. Sinjin was also shown to be in Jade's house, obviously without permission much to Jade's annoyance in "Wi-Fi in the Sky". On TheSlap, he talks about Jade and even writes her poems. This may show he has an unhealthy obsession with her. In Wok Star he helped her with set design. When he tried to talk to her about different kinds of moss to use for the set, she compared it with his hair. He then continued to speak to Jade, which annoyed her and she commanded him to "Go." Before she even finished the word he took off running, showing he always does what she says and greatly respects her (despite him breaking into her house). Tori said it made pee run down his leg. In a video on "The Slap" Sinjin made puppets of him and Jade. He acted as if Jade was in love with him and wanted to dump Beck so she could go out with him. Jade walks into the room to see Sinjin and calmly tells him that is not okay.
Family:Jade's relationships with her family are known to be terrible. According to her, her father "hates [her] guts", has called the cops on her, thinks that all of her creative desires are stupid, and she wants to show him that he is wrong. She seems to disrespect her mother and has called her "stupid" quite a few times, and claims that she loves the movie The Scissoring more than her mother (Three Girls and a Moose). Her grandma doesn't approve of her style, and Jade once told her to "get out of here" when asked about the kind of guy she wanted to marry. She once locked her cousin in a closet, she seems to think of her stepmother as annoying because she takes up all her father's attention, and she enjoys listening to her brother panic. (Most of these examples are from numerous posts and videos on TheSlap.com.)
Biography:Jade's childhood has been noted to be an unhappy one on a few occasions throughout the series. She says that the ice cream reminds her of it, and that her favorite toy was a hammer (Ice Cream for Ke$ha).
She was friends with Andre Harris, Robbie Shapiro, Cat Valentine, and Beck Oliver since at least 2008, where they formed an official ping pong team at Hollywood Arts High School. (The Great Ping Pong Scam) She and Beck also began dating at some point this year (Jade Dumps Beck).

A semi-old fart and her fandom pet peeves...
1) Over-tagging. Say, for example, your post concerns one character and/or the actor who plays him/her/them. It makes sense to tag the character (if the post is about the character). It makes sense to tag the actor (if the post is about another project that the actor is involved in that is not the character they are most known for). It makes sense to tag the project associated with the post. If the post is about one specific character and/or one specific actor from a show, there is no need to tag every single actor and character from the show.
For example, if you are making a post about Chris Colfer meeting your little nephew who comes to one of his book signings dressed up as Kurt Hummel, it makes sense to tag Chris's name, the title of Chris's book, and Kurt Hummel (because the little kid is dressed like Kurt). You don't need to tag Lea Michele, Darren Criss, Naya Rivera, etc. unless they are in the picture as well. It's not going to get you more notes on tumblr, it's going to get your post blocked because people are sick of seeing unrelated posts in the tags for their favorites. People who have certain characters/actors blacklisted through Tumblr Savior or XKit might also miss out on your perfectly innocent post because you tagged that actor even though they aren’t in the picture. For example, say there is someone who is a big fan of Chris and Kurt, but they have Naya’s name blacklisted because she’s most famous for playing Santana, and the fan found Santana’s treatment of Kurt objectionable and gets sad whenever they see her face. If you tag the whole cast, that person is not going to see your precious nephew meeting Chris because your post got lost in their blacklist. The same thing goes for characters who are played by multiple people. Davey Jacobs is my favorite character in Newsies. If you're making a gifset of all the actors who played him, it makes sense to tag "Davey Jacobs" and the names of all the actors who played him in the various iterations of the movie/show. If your gifset or post exclusively features/discusses Ben Fankhauser and/or his particular portrayal of Davey, you do not need to tag Jeremy (Greenbaum), Jacob or Stephen in the post.
2) Tagging multiple characters/actors/ships in a controversial post just to get a rise out of people. There is a bit of an overlap with the overtagging here as the offenders tend to be the same. My examples here are the "Marvin discourse" in Falsettos and the identity discourse in Newsies. Marvin is written as gay and is referred to by other characters in the show as "homosexual." He divorces his wife because he wants to be with a man (who, technically, he was already with if Trina's account in "I'm Breaking Down" is correct). However, the character description on a few different character breakdown sites claims he is bisexual. These sites are not "gospel" and are generally not written by the creators of the projects themselves. While sexuality can certainly be fluid, Marvin's marriage to a woman and successful conception of a child seems to be a result of closeted behavior rather than bisexuality. The majority of the Falsettos fandom seems to accept that Marvin is gay, but occasionally there will be someone who INSISTS he's bi (not that there's anything wrong with being bisexual) and fills EVERY SINGLE FALSETTOS-RELATED TAG with it for attention.
With Newsies, there's a strong contingent of people who headcanon the less-developed background newsies (and sometimes the lead newsies and their friends and siblings) as LGBT. I haven't seen the movie in probably 20 years (I thought it was boring which is why I had no intention of seeing it live until one of my dearest friends booked the tour) so the characters in the movie-verse might have done something that was very clearly gay that I missed when I was in sixth grade, but I didn't catch anything particularly "gay" in the stage version although if the writers had gone the Jack/Crutchie route I could sort of understand it based on their interactions. That being said, unless someone is blatantly making stuff up or ripping Katherine or Sarah apart for the tiniest little flaw to blow a hole in Jack/Katherine or Jack/Sarah to justify why they ship Jack/Davey or Jack/Crutchie or Jack/Race or whatever, headcanoning characters as gay really isn't hurting anyone. If some gay kid in the middle of nowhere sees a lot of himself in Crutchie and wants to imagine a world where Crutchie is EXACTLY like him (well, apart from being born in a different century), it's not a bad thing.
I'm younger than most film-Newsies fans but I'm a lot older than most stage-Newsies fans. I was well into my twenties before I joined ANY fandom, and while there are characters I share some similarities with, I can enjoy them and identify with them without needing them to be exactly like me and filling holes in their descriptions with my personal identity traits or with traits I know the actor behind them has but that haven't been specified for their character. That being said, I know that there are other people who do feel more connected to a character they like if they see the character's canon struggles through the lens of a not-necessarily-canon identity (in the case of gender/sexuality/ethnicity) or diagnosis (in terms of a mental illness or developmental disorder). Like, OK, yeah, MOST of the newsboys in 1899 New York were probably cishet neurotypical males and a lot of them were white-passing if not outright white. The thing is, people KNOW that. Posting that and then tagging every single character and actor in the show, even if it's historically accurate, is just going to make you look like a dick (because these are literally just FICTIONAL CHARACTERS and you're screaming "MINE, NOT YOURS!" in people's faces), whereas the people who have headcanons of Jack as mixed race or Davey as autistic or Spot as transgender aren't posting their headcanons to be dicks. That being said, I don't know how many people (I'd wager most, but not all) of the people who headcanon characters with not-explicitly-canon identities actually belong to the identity communities themselves. I don't think it's wrong for a gay autistic trans kid to see Spot Conlon and go "ooh, what if he was gay and autistic and trans like me?" but if it's a straight neurotypical person (and by a straight person, I mean, an actual straight person, not someone who is questioning or closeted gay/lesbian/bi/pan) going "ALL YOUR FAVES ARE GAY! AND TRANS! AND AUTISTIC!" and tagging every single fandom they are in, it reads as a little fetishistic but that's just me.
3) "Rares" blogs posting pictures that aren't rares. If an actor posts an in-costume selfie with his castmates to his instagram during the process of creating a show or after the show is finished, it's not a "rare," even if the first time YOU'VE particularly seen it is two years after the show goes off the air and five years after he posted it. The same goes for someone who is involved in the project from a production aspect (like, for example, Joaquin or Kalen from Glee). A rare would be something that a friend-of-a-celebrity or a fan posted on a public social media account (like Twitter or Instagram) of the celebrity at a party or involved in something they did before their "big break." For example, I think if someone were to be like "hey, oh crap, I just remembered I went to see NLT years ago and I have a selfie with Kevin McHale when he was a teenager that I've never posted," THAT would be a rare. If someone posted a picture of Darren from his study abroad in Italy, that would be a rare. Posting a picture from the Glee set that's been tweeted or Instagrammed (sometimes multiple times) by the actors themselves is not "posting a rare."
4) This sort of could be combined with number 1, but it's more about Instagram/Twitter than Tumblr. It's one thing to make a cool edit of a character or an actor and tag them in it. Like, for example, Stephanie Styles and Drew Gehling were just in a stage production of Roman Holiday. Photoshopping their faces onto the film actors' bodies on the movie poster is a cool edit and I'm sure they would love to be tagged in something like that. Maybe you drew a picture of Brittana from Glee having a picnic and giving each other flowers; there's nothing wrong with tagging Heather and Naya in that. Maybe you identify a lot with Evan Hansen and make an "Evan Hansen aesthetic post" and want Ben Platt to see. Whatever, that's fine. What is overkill is when people literally just post screenshots from a TV show/movie/Broadway bootleg or steal pictures from actors' Instagrams or OTHER PEOPLE'S EDITS and have a completely unrelated caption like "uggggggggh I have so much math homework" or "my stepdad is being a dick and says I can't go see (insert movie here)" and tag the actors just because they happen to be in the picture. Sometimes people look in the actor tags on Instagram for news on their fave that might not be announced yet (for example, someone else from a project an actor is working on tagging them in a BTS picture) but it gets swamped under the same screenshot of the Newsies seizing the day or Klaine kissing or Andrew Rannells standing over Christian Borle with what appears to be a boner or Ben Cook doing the splits while Josh Burrage makes a goofy face in the background OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. Sometimes a fan is having a hard time and all they want is to be noticed by their favorite cast member of a show, but their friends' post petitioning the actor to wish them a happy birthday is swamped under 900 notifications of the same unedited screenshot. I have a friend who will sometimes post an old Newsies photo and go on an unrelated rant underneath, but she doesn't tag the actors or the show, so it's fine. If you didn't make the edit, don't post the edit (like, even if you credit whoever made it, someone else might steal it from you and they won't). If you HAVE to post a picture from a show with an unrelated caption, don't tag the actors. It's annoying as hell, and I suspect it contributes a lot to why a lot of them pull away from Instagram.
5) Roleplay blogs clogging up the tags, and then people creating blogs specifically to ADVERTISE their roleplay blogs when they know the actual blogs themselves are getting blocked. Also, FACEBOOK ROLEPLAYS. Facebook won't even let a lot of trans people change their name without a shit load of documentation, but it seems fine with people pretending to be fictional characters and celebrities and changing their FB handles to (insert first name) (insert embarrassing RPF ship portmanteau). Facebook is for real people and businesses, and I can SORT of see making a FB profile for a baby or a pet to have a place where only certain people can access photos and information (since most people have FB but not everyone has Instagram). Also, some of the roleplay scenarios people have are seriously fucked up and racist/ableist/both. YIKES.

@shadowyavuz
The old Alp would have struck up a real conversation, like Harika would have, in addition to offering advice.  He would have at least smiled at her.  But things had changed, and the new Alp was quieter, saying little more than he had to, slow to warm up to new people and less likely to make connections that’d extend outside the gym.  Even with Donte, who he’d spent four years drilling and practicing and playing alongside back when the future was full of promise, things weren’t quite the same.  When they’d met up again in 2015 Donte had a degree in Kinesiology and a steady job in his field, at a place where he was well-liked and on the rise up the ladder, with a close-knit family and a fiance who loved him, and Alp…  Alp had changed.  So while they still got along, joined intramural sports leagues or ran a half-marathon together a few times each year and occasionally caught dinner or a game, it wasn’t like it used to be.  Nothing was like it used to be.
Alp liked the job well enough, though.  He’d always liked working out, and he liked helping people, and he liked the flexibility of designing his own programs.  And he liked people like this girl, whose name he didn’t know despite seeing her around fairly often lately–he liked people who actually came to work out instead of socialize or document their day on social media, who put in real effort and were dedicated enough to come regularly.  Just showing up at this hour showed commitment–when he held predawn classes, attendance always started dropping by the third or fourth class.
…Of course, maybe that wasn’t just the hour.  Some people found out that they preferred the treadmill to running around Chicago in all weather except lightning storms (despite what people claimed, Alp wasn’t actually trying to kill anyone), and Alp did his best not to judge them for it.
But this girl hadn’t signed up for his classes–every time he’d seen her, she was just training by herself, earbuds in, mostly frowning (Donte would point out he knew someone else like that) except for the rare occasions she’d smile and reach to adjust something on her phone–the volume, Alp figured, because she wasn’t the type to spend her “workout staring at a screen.  And so, while she didn’t seem thrilled to see him, he was glad she seemed willing to listen–he didn’t want her to get hurt.  And maybe a more comfortable position would help the frown…although maybe it had nothing to do with discomfort, and in that case it was none of his business.
He waited as she considered the idea, then lay back down–she hadn’t had much of a break between sets, so he didn’t blame her for taking a little while to get settled.  Once she finally brought the weights up, though, he nodded.  “Yeah.  Little less.”  Leaning across, he touched the inside of her elbow just long enough to open the angle slightly wider than it’d been.  “You want about 45 degrees.  Keeps the stress off your tendons but still works what it’s supposed to.”  Another nod of approval, and he asked, “Better?”
His hand on her arm was impersonal and professional.  She hoped she wasn’t grossly sticky; just because he worked at a gym didn’t mean she should inflict her sweat on him.
It was a good thing she wasn’t doing this to impress anyone.  The people who knew her best were impressed, and that was nice, at least.  When he’d heard her plan for morning workouts Billy had literally called bullshit and demanded proof that she’d followed through.  This led to her first and only gym selfie, showing her glaring and sweat-drenched, the clock in the background reading just after six.  Trina, on the other hand, had paused mid-yoga pose to watch as Alys shuffled through the apartment, collecting her water bottle and bag before leaving without a word; that evening she had simply told Alys that she was proud of her for “getting out of your comfort zone.”  Their approval was all that really mattered to Alys, leaving her free not to care what anyone at the gym thought.
Though it was also sort of nice to have some support from the eyebrows.  “Yeah,” she said, nodding, and the rest of her set was pinch-free.  After it was done she stood, racked her weights, and swiped the bench with an antibacterial wipe from the dispenser before turning to him.
“Thanks,” she said, with a smile she hoped was grateful but not ingratiating.  She felt on more solid footing with him while she was completely upright, even if he did have more than six inches on her.  “That helped.”
Maybe before he left she could get a little more free advice.  Billy had sent her a list of exercises and reps, but clearly she needed some in-person guidance.  “Can I ask you a question?” she ventured.  “I mean, is that allowed, since I’m not in one of your classes or anything?”
