Something about the idea that voting for president only matters if you live in a swing state, and that all the people in blue states or red states can indulge themselves in principled nonparticipation because the outcomes are preordained, strikes me as akin to playing with fire.
Is it really coherent to say "both sides are awful, write in Mickey Mouse or burn your ballot or just stay home and get drunk, unless you live in Pennsylvania, in which case maybe consider taking one for the team and compromising yourself by voting for the lesser evil?" Is that really the message that will lead to a preferable outcome?
What it sounds like to me is a sign that 1) you take your local electorate for granted, and 2) you see avoiding the worst case scenario as somebody else's problem.
I remember when Florida was a swing state. I also remember when Pennsylvania wasn't.

If college dorms don't count, I've moved my primary residence seventeen times:
First house to second house when I was like 10.
Second house back to first house six months later because my mom didn't like the second house.
First house to third house when I was about 12.
Third house to first apartment when I was 20 (I went to college in a different state, though I continued to spend summer vacations "back home").
First apartment to second apartment when I was 23 (committed to living in new state).
Second apartment to third apartment when I was 25.
Third apartment to fourth apartment before I'd turned 26 (it was an interesting year)
Fourth apartment to my then-girlfriend's parents house when I was 26 (supposed to be very temporary, ended up being about 5-6 months).
Girlfriend's parents house to first Korean apartment when I was still 26 (my teaching abroad experience).
First Korean apartment to second Korean apartment when I was 27 and I lost my first teaching job (eliding another apartment where we stayed a couple of weeks, which I consider part of the move)
Second Korean apartment to third Korean apartment when I lost my second teaching job (still 27).
Third Korean apartment to my mom's house, when I couldn't find a new job after a couple of months and the visa situation was getting hairy (still 27).
Mom's house to best friend's apartment when I was 28 (back to the state where I attended college, trying to get my life "back on track")
Best friend's apartment to best friend's next apartment a couple of months later.
Best friend's next apartment to fifth apartment when I was 29 (after I got myself a new job).
Fifth apartment to sixth apartment when I was 30 (when they jacked up my rent twice in one year).
Sixth apartment to present house when I was 34 (newly married, and hoping to remain here for the rest of our lives).
If college dorms count, I've lived in two of those.
If you want to add context, reblog with where you've mostly lived and/or why you've had to move in the past.

Trilobite Beetle (Platerodrilus paradoxus), female, family Lycidae, Sarawak, Borneo
The males are much smaller, and look like a typical yellow and black net-winged beetle. The females... look like this (retaining a larval form).
The females can grow up to 8 cm (3.15 in.) in length.

Every day of my professional life amounts to telling teenagers variations on the following:
"Google is not a source of information. Google is a tool for locating sources of information. Google does not know anything. Google can only tell you what somebody else said they know. It is up to you to evaluate the reliability of what Google presents you with."

Welcome back to Trilobite Tuesday. The Walcott-Rust Quarry, of upstate New York, is renowned for producing some of the best-preserved Ordovician trilobites in the world. Abundant examples of at least 18 species of trilobites, most of which have been studied extensively, have been discovered at the site. This 1.5-in- (3.8-cm-) long Ceraurus pleurexanthemus is one of the quarry’s most well-known species.
