WIP ask game…Trill AU (I am already invested in this lol)

The Trill AU has a lot of it posted, and I just have a big mental block on the next scene. The mental block is from a lot of reasons, but in rereading this after such a big break, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

Anyway! Here's a snippit.

Landing in the capital city was enough of a trigger for Anju to return.  She was able to guide them from the spaceport and through the city to the neighborhood where she and Link and Illia were born.  The capital had a system of street trolleys, and Anju excitedly pointed out where the routes had changed and which skyscrapers were new.  

"It really is the perfect planet," Anju said quietly, leaning in to whisper against Zelda's ear in an unnerving way.  "It's in Klingon space, so the Trill home world has no authority, and the Orions would never turn away a group of outlaws, especially those who keep their heads down and are carrying the knowledge of a dozen lives and are willing to share their medical and engineering advancements.  The only real problem is the heat."

Anju shrugged out of Link's  jacket for some relief.  And though Zelda toughed it out, she eventually huffed and elbowed Ruto into taking off her jacket too.  She was pale and sweating and had the straw from a water pouch on her back tucked grumpily into her cheek.

It was a relief to reach the Trill neighborhood, where the architecture changed.  Zelda couldn't help but grin up at the boring, municipal-looking building that housed the Orion Trill Symbiont Assistance Organization.

"Assistance Organization," she repeated.

"It's very friendly.  Come see."

The moth boys and mutual grooming thing is so cute! But does their fuzz take to water alright? I know some species of moths can grow mold in their fuzz if damp too long and it’s rather deadly? So would they have issues with showers or so? If not I can imagine MC using all her fancy shampoos on them and making them smell like a new smoothie flavor each week.

I never considered that before, but now, I like to think that grooming for moths is important for not just bonding- it's also important for keeping fur looking good and staying somewhat waterproof. Maybe something to do with the distribution of waterproofing through their floof... it needs to be ruffled and brushed. Either by themselves, or someone else.

For Sans and Red, waterproofing isn't an issue. They know how to do it for themselves when they don't have other moths around, and even in the zoo (where they don't have to worry about rain) Mc would unintentionally help with it when caring for their wings.

Skull would have problems, though. He was raised in captivity, and grew up separated from other moths; he never had anyone to teach him how to groom/be groomed. His floof grows long and sometimes matted, he gets mucky and dusty since he can't self-clean. Mc would have to give him a proper bath every once in a while.

.... The only thing Mc dislikes more than being snatched by a clingy moth, is being snatched by a soggy clingy moth. He weighs twice as much when he's wet.

woke up in a panic thinking I’d agreed to participate in a pre TIT gift exchange and was running super late. I had a dream about desperately trying to find the person’s blog and when I sent the one I thought it was an anon asking when their show is they were just like “wouldn’t you like to know :)” however they were also a voyager fan which was highly specific but incredibly convenient given that I finished voyager recently so I was like ok I’ll write you a voyager au. I was gonna write actual rpf for them. I was having visions. and then I woke up.

I don't care if no one else wants it but please talk about naruto from a cardassian perspective. u are so right about Jiraiya and Curzon

Okay. So cardassian literature according to Garak is full of repetitive cycles, they see an elegance in it. In these stories, a cardassian devotes themself to the state, grows old and dies, and the next generation does the same thing. Naruto is also a story of cycles. Cycles of souls (the alien bros i cant remember the names of, hashirama & madara, naruto & sasuke), recycled situations (2 boys and 1 girl teams over and over and over, hashirama as naruto, yahiko as naruto, obito as naruto, naruto as naruto), war after war after war. It's all a cycle of violence and devotion to the state of Konoha. And that's a bad thing. It should be a bad thing. Except it's not because the cycle is never actually broken. Naruto devotes himself to the state and says he'll change things but they don't really change and the next generation carries on the fighting. So, I think cardassians would like naruto as a story. Except they'd probably like itachi, kakashi, and danzo because of their level of unhinged devotion (because theyre all fucking brainwashed... well danzo might just be fucked up but the othet 2: brainwashed). Tldr: Naruto to me is a work of cardassian literature because kishimoto made everyone a fucking insane nationalist trained in ninja murder and never broke the cycle of violence

I think the Trill’s symbiont thing is wild. Like Jadzia was seventeen with two bachelor’s degrees in hard sciences and they’re like…ehhh. Not good enough. So they have a society where symbionts are heavily valued, but they’re also very strict about shit and WILL banish you. So surely there are a bunch of banished people floating around the galaxy. And I’m really interested in that diaspora.

Also, the telepathic Trills who look after the symbionts are called “Guardians.” That really grabbed my attention. And again, they’re not treated super great. If you show enough telepathic ability in childhood, you just get taken away to look after symbionts.
