I think an interesting look at the difference for TriMax and TriStamp, via lore thoughts, could be more than just modernizing the material, and having the tech to do cool new things with the world.

TriMax has this almost defunct technology feeling. They reference things as 'lost tech' pretty often, transportation that flies is very rare, because of the power it takes, and I like to think that maybe the know-how of making things fly is almost a lost art. Without the use of anti-grav fields produced by Plants, that is.

So the guns look pretty old earth, mechanical and no special properties, for the most part.

And we get Stamp's more technological flavor fitted on everything. The guns, the ships, Vash's prosthetic, the Plants, the Plant's housing/buildings, the bigger cities with the lights and high tech looking bit and bobs.

It's given me this idea of reference the timelines as 'aged' and 'new tech'. Because I've written crossover roleplays of the worlds, and there's always an exposition of the difference of how everything looks and works and functions. Its not just a style change, it gives interesting lore to cross reference, too! Something in the 'new tech' timeline advanced their technology further before leaving Old Earth, maybe; where in the 'aged' timeline, there could have been a more desperate scramble to leave the planet before its predicted collapse, pouring resources into known tech, rather than advancing new tech. (a flawed concept, but not impossible, and creates space for dramatic events to have happened)

I dunno, my brain power on this idea is crashing because I need sleep, but maybe I'll come back to this with more energy later.

Now that we got lore, I find it very fascinating that the Trigun Stampede site had to inform us Meryl came from a wealthy family.

I have questions, particularly how in this hostile environment did her family obtain wealth in such a short period of time? Hmmmm?

That very degree of horror when you start to think, "Why do Plants grow flowers from their body at all?" (after all, this is the reproductive organ of real plants; what the reason for viviparous warm-blooded creatures to have it?), and you involuntarily come to the guess "Is it possible that in a world or dimension where humans caught them, are also… bees??"

Or maybe they, like praying mantises and others in the wild - disguise themselves as flowers in order to lure prey?? O.o

Thank you do such an amazing original post and for providing screenshots for the mentioned scene! I wanted to find them but was too lazy.

I just love our boy Vash so much and it’s amazing how many times we are subtly being shown in all media how incredible, dedicated, talented and unstoppable he is and also how he covers all of this up with his overly-goofy masterfully crafted persona. I just love him, don’t know what else to say. Love and peace ✌️

This giant brick of a revolver fires .22 caliber??

Look at it. Look at how tiny that bullet is compared to the gun itself and his hands. That's not an animation mistake, that's pretty realistically sized.

Fox and I had to pause here and back up to make sure we read it right - .22 caliber (5.6 mm) is generally used for light target shooting or pest control. It's a varmint gun. Most personal protection sidearms use at least a 9mm round, and Vash's revolver in the 1998 anime and manga used the even-larger 45 long colt.

A .22 caliber pistol isn't going to do a lot of damage against a human opponent. Yeah it'll hurt, but you'd have to try pretty hard to actually kill someone with - ohhhhhhhhhhh never mind I get it now.

This is a great new little detail that fits Vash's character super well.

This is one of the funniest things in this entire manga.

My favorite detailed adaption Orange did for Trigun Stampede was using the concept of Chladni's plates to make the plant resonance in Trimax feel so real and beyond just basic sci-fi.

Not to mention the plant markings are simply beautiful.
