Sibling moment
[ID: Two doodles of Crispin and Basilio from the show "Trese". Crispin is the older brother with short black hair, while Basilio is the younger brother, having long black hair brushing past his shoulders. They are both wearing black suits and have black eyes.
In the first doodle, they are seen laughing and wrapping an arm around each other's shoulders in a familial gesture.
In the second doodle, Basilio is looking nervous as he stretches out his arm, revealing a black spider crawling on it. Crispin, with a serious expression, is clutching a gun and aiming it at the spider crawling on his little brother's arm. Alexandra Trese, the female protagonist of the show, could be seen in the background facepalming and muttering, "Pastilan". END ID]

i don't really like it when people label found families like "parent and child" or "siblings" without reason but personally i still view zhongli as xiao's dad simply because it looks funnier when you add trese into the mix
"xiao why is your dad so hot. xiao wtf. omg. this isn't fair. why is your father so beautiful huh. jfc. he's so. wow. beautiful. most gorgeous man ive ever seen"
"im begging you to stop talking"

Are these men suppose to be Alexandra’s kuyas?
They were barely mentioned in the show. They weren’t even in the family picture. It was as if  Alexandra was raised as a single child in order to fulfill the prophecy and her brothers never existed.
I understand that Alexandra is the MAIN FOCUS of Trese because the prophecy stated “The Sixth Child from The Sixth Child” and that her siblings aren’t important to the storyline. But shouldn’t the other 5  Trese siblings (We already know what had happened to Alexandra’s sister.) have been a part of Alexandra’s journey as a Lakan, not just the parents? Why were the Trese brothers sidelined in all of this?!?!
This may have been mentioned in the original comic series, but I never read them, so I’m basing my thoughts on the Netflix series, All I’m just saying is that it would’ve been nice to have seen Alexandra bond with her kuyas in between fighting monsters when she was younger before they were killed in the battle (Heck! She didn’t even ask Hank what happened to them, just what happened to the dad!?!? [ Proof of their nonexistence]), while Alexandra was facing her trial,
I basically wanted to get to know the entire Trese family, not just Alexandra and her parents you know?

(I'm sorry for the plain color of my Oc full body hehe)
User name: @pgamtion
Trese Manlangit,(her name translates to Thirteen Heaven) a half Filipina and Half American. Light brown hair with light blue tips, light blue eyes, a mole near her left eye. She's 17 years old, she's 163cm. She is the middle child of 5 siblings but acts like the mother(Since her dad died when her two youngest brother turned 2 and her mother abandoned them in Japan when their two eldest brother died). She hate it when people compares her to someone and says that she should "act" like them. She is patient with people who don't understood immediately about something. She likes anything sweet and spicy, she doesn't like eggplant (the texture gross her out). She might smile back if you look at her but if you did something VERY wrong to her, she wouldn't hide her death smile
(Her unique magic is based on Rapunzel and Cassandra but she is not based on Rapunzel nor Cassandra, but I think half Flinn with Rapunzel with a little bit of Cassandra(I still have to figure that out hehe)) When she was just a child her mom jokes about how her hair starts to glow blue and yellow at some point, but the glow happened again once (Grim overblot happened) so her unique magic was unlocked on that chapter
She became the part time nurse(and still a half student with Grim) when she went to nrc. Her outfit was customized by Crewel and a Ignihyde student(whom shall not be named), since she can't run fast her heels was added with a roller skates whenever she has to run to a injured student. And her skirt needed to adjust on something that it won't be easily ripped.
Some of the NRC students has a crush on her because she's the first girl that got to enroll at NRC(my other OC's doesn't have the same universe as her) but she always had her eyes on Trey, and Trey got nervous and flustered since she's the one who took the guts to asked him out, both of them were awkward at first but they get a long pretty well.
Their dynamic is like the sweet couple on campus, or the parent figures in the campus. Trese is the jealous type so whenever Trey is talking to a girl and if that girl has interest in Trey, Trese pouts in jealousy and she kept her silence but sooner or later Trey will notice it. Trey sometimes teases her whenever he saw her pouting because of jealousy. Their relationship is not toxic if they ever got mad with each other they'll just resolve it when they both calm down. When they argue its like a mom and dad having an argument.

This is a visual representation of my interpretation of Trese's relationship with The Kambal which is basically "I still don't trust you but I love you anyway" (among other things as well)I really don't think she completely trusts them which is why the twins work hard for her approval but it never really worked out. Idk how it is in the comics tho. Angst fuel 🙏 I based Basilio's hair as a child in the comics since I just prefer it.

what could be better than (1) numb and tired, dead to the world, no more fs to give character and (1) chaotic wild child himbo character dynamic?
Tumblr media
that’s easy. it’s the (1) numb and tired and (2) chaotic himbos dynamic, double trouble, twice the fun and suffering.
seriously, if nothing else, watch trese for this dynamic.

notes — IVE HAD ENOUGH OF SHINICHIRO ANGST TIME FOR FLUFF NOTHING BUT FLUFF FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL MAN (trese fandom dw ill still get to the reqs its just that i accidentslly started writing this and didnt stop HSMDKDK)
Tumblr media
You flick Shinichiro’s forehead, urging him to shut his eyes so that stray hairs don’t fall into them. He huffs but complies anyway.
“Stop moving,” you scold him, restless as ever. “If I mess up, I’m shaving your head.”
He stifles a laugh. His fingers hooked on your belt loops, more for his own gain than yours. “Oh? You’d love me even then? If I go bald, I mean.”
“Hell no. If you go bald, I’m leaving your ass.”
He doesn’t hold back this time, throwing his head back in laughter. You slump a bit, concentration now broken. You move the scissors away.
Of course you didn’t mean it. You developed a crush on your childhood friend throughout middle school and high school despite constantly ridiculing him for his embarrassing haircut that did nothing to complement his face.
Though he claimed that it was his ‘dashing good looks’, as he put it, that made you fall for him, that was not the case at all. You admired his big heart. You always thought he was cool for having so many people respect him and look up to him, and it made sense considering how kind he was, how selfless and caring. You saw it in how passionate he was with his friends. You saw it in how he harbored such a close bond with his siblings. They were so lucky to be able to call him their older brother.
Eventually, your little puppy crush evolved into a profound love—one that you now find yourself falling deeper and deeper into as time goes by.
You don’t recall when or how it started, but one day, you found yourself looking for him everywhere. The smallest things reminded you of him, like the dandelion you spotted in the fields once, on your way home. It triggered a memory, locked away in your maturing mind, to resurface and all of a sudden, the only thing on your mind as you trekked down the road was that one time when you were kids, when he pretended to hand you a dandelion but instead blew it in your face at the last minute, laughing so hard at your expression that he had to clutch his stomach for support. You remember feeling like a fool for falling for his childish trick, but he handed you another one which had been concealed behind his back to make up for it, and any gloom you’d felt was instantly forgotten.
Another instance was the one time a hole on a fence weirdly reminded you of the time he walked around with a hole in his pants for a whole day in high school and nobody told him about it until he went home. Mikey, who was around seven years old at the time, rolled around in hysterics after pointing it out to his brother.
TLDR, it would take more than just a bad haircut for you to lose even an ounce of your affections for Shinichiro.
He tugged on your belt loops to pull you closer and rest his head against your stomach, kissing where his lips could reach. “Mikey would probably lose all respect for me if I did go bald. What do you think?”
“I agree. Definitely.”
He snorted, finally sitting up properly for you to resume trimming his growing hair. “Can’t have that or you leaving me, now can we?”
A small smile grew on your lips as you noticed his sparkling eyes looking up at you. The moonlight was hitting him just right from your point of view, and he looked so soft. He’s perfect. You cupped his jaw, instantly feeling him lean into you, and leaned down to peck his forehead.
“Nope. Definitely not.”

"Tao po!" -- the way we knock on doors in the Philippines
Tumblr media
Knock knock.
"Tao po!"
Only then will most doors open in the Philippines. It's almost second nature for Filipinos to shout "tao po!" when knocking on a gate or a building's front door. In fact, almost no one thinks about it unless asked by a visiting foreigner why we do such a thing. This custom, like many others, has roots in folk beliefs stretching from before the Spanish colonization in the 1500s.
The phrase "tao po!" functions as a sort of password to declare that indeed, the person knocking at the gate is human. In Filipino folklore, entities such as the dreaded aswang can shapeshift into human form, thus allowing them to walk around under daylight. This has been nicely illustrated in "Trese" and other modern works that have aswangs and other beings successfully interfacing with Filipinos in every day transactions. Even a trained eye may have difficulty differentiating the aswang from a human, owing to the sometimes appealing forms that they take.
However there are some distinct 'tells' about aswangs. My mother used to say that there are some human-like entities who must leave a church before the Consecration in the Roman Catholic Mass (in many cases, church doors were left open in the Philippines at least prior to the pandemic). Apparently their nature made them unable to really sit through the whole liturgy. More commonly though, aswangs cannot actually declare themselves as human, and thus cannot actually say "tao po!" when they wish to enter a house.
Practicalities of Saying Passwords
In a more practical sense, saying "tao po" is a declaration of friendly intent. Although yes, thieves and miscreants have been known to put on amiable facades and befriend inhabitants before entering a home, it is not usual for a break-in to commence with someone saying "tao po" or some similar phrase. Simply saying it is a polite way of announcing your presence and that you do not mean any harm,
In places with lots of ambient noise like in the middle of the big city, it is easy to confuse a knock with other sounds from the outdoors such as falling objects. Sometimes people learn to tune out such distractions, but will still pay attention for someone shouting "tao po!". If you don't want to be left standing out on the street, knocking futilely, you'd better learn to say "tao po!"
Invitations to the Vampire and Aswangs
This custom is also related to folklore from other countries concerning entities that can only enter homes 'by invitation'. This seems to be a cross cultural thing: vampires in European literature, rakshasa in Hindu mythology, and even the 'black eyed children' of urban legends. The trick with handling these entities is to never inadvertently invite them in. This can be as simple as learning to keep doors closed, installing sacred emblems or sigils on entryways, strewing salt and herbs as repellents, or using passcodes as in the phrase "tao po!"
It is generally understood that nothing good can come from accidentally inviting the uncanny into your dwelling. Apart from the risk of serious bodily harm and mortality, there is also the possibility of accidentally transferring ownership of your home to your unwanted guest.
Never Answer the Call of the Mimic
But does this apply to people that you do know, or who live in that house anyway? Still, there is cause to be very careful even with one's housemates. Another thing that seems to happen in Philippine folklore is having spirits mimic the voices of loved ones or other humans in an attempt to lure the unsuspecting into a trap. Many an old person will warn you that if you do not see who is calling you, it is best not to answer. Otherwise, you may find yourself talking to a spirit. In almost all cases, these spirits will not declare themselves as human, but will simply continue their impersonation.
I didn't personally pay much heed to this until a creepy incident in my childhood home when I was in my 20s. My siblings and I were relaxing in our living room one afternoon, with the family dog at our feet. Our home had 3 doors opening to the street: one in the living room where we were, one through the garage leading to the kitchen, and one leading to a side room. Suddenly all three of us heard what sounded like the kitchen door opening, followed by our mother's voice calling to us. Even the dog got up and began barking.
Thinking nothing of it, we just called "oh hi Mom", expecting we would soon see her in the living room. Five minutes, then ten passed by...and still no sign of our mother or anyone else in the house! When we did venture into the kitchen, there was no sign of a break in or anything having entered. The door was locked.
Our parents did actually arrive home hours later, in time for dinner. We mentioned this incident to them, and our mother simply shook her head. "Don't answer next time if you don't see me!" she warned us.
Be careful who you speak to. That person better declare what he or she is supposed to be first.
